rimpublic. Property connection

In the file rimpublic.property in the MDS Simulator, what are these parameters used for?

[Record]

Logging.Level = 4

Logging.Console.log.Level = 4

I found the article about logging HTTP activation knowledge base, but then I saw these settings in the file as well.

From what I can tell from research, the BES logging level is configured via a registry setting. Are these parameters documented anywhere or can you tell me what they control?

Thanks Mark, do you have information about what mean the different log level?

  • Not (rightly?) MDS Simulator using rimpublic.property

    I'm testing an application that manages cookies on its own, so I tried to change the rimpublic.property parameter:

    application.handler.http.CookieSupport = false

    but the MDS Simulator still manages cookies.  I then changed the value of WebServer.listen.port to 8010 and the MDS Simulator still load the web server on the default port 8080. This suggests that the MDS Simulator is not correctly read the file rimpublic.property. Initially, I had problems of file with Vista so I changed the permissions on everything under the directory "C:\Program research in Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.7.0\MDS" so that all users have all permissions. That always has not contributed to the problem though. Anyone has ideas or information, why this is happening?

    I'm v4.7.0 JDE running and modifying this file specifically:

    C:\Program search in Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.7.0\MDS\config\rimpublic.property

    Thank you

    Joe

    Well well if someone has the same problem, I managed to get this to work finally.

    I reinstalled everything - the JDE, all my simulators and the JDE component Package (this can be unnecessary, given that I didn't tried the next step until after I did - twice). Then in the JDE, I put the directory of MDS Simulator - CS to use the version installed by the Installer component package to 'C:\Program research in Motion\BlackBerry JDE component package 4.7.0\MDS' (Edit-> preferences, tab Simulator MDS - CS). I also had to change the properties of that directory and give total control of the users group. And of course the rimpublic.properties file is now in the directory "C:\Program search component Package Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.7.0\MDS\config".

    It works, but one of the problems is that the instance of MDS - CS turns off automatically when I close the Simulator. But I can live with that.

  • Not able to connect to the internet via blackberry Simulator

    Hello! I use Windows7 32 bit and Blackberry Java plug-in for Eclipse version 1.5.0 and part net.rim.ejde.componentpack7.0.0_7.0.0.33 package. I am not able to connect to any external URL browser Simulator. Whenever I try to hit any URL, I get an error "could not find the server asked.

  • Problem Timeout of the weird HTTP connection on the BES!

    Nice day

    I seem to be lost on a TCP connection problem.

    Basically, I opened 'a' connection via TCP, and after a period of 120 seconds of inactivity, it is cleaned by the BES. Now, I've read a resource that provides information about a parameter, the "ConnectionTimeout", which I've tried setting 5 minutes (300000 ms). But this does not solve the problem. In addition, I changed a parameter in the MDS, the 'HTTP device connection period' to 300000 (ms) as well. And Ditto for the rimpublic.property file, which is located in the directory config of the BES.

    Everything seems to indicate that the maximum connection time is 120 seconds. Is this correct? This value can be overridden? If this isn't the case, so why give the possibility to increase the time-out period, without going through a sort of validation?

    Advice will be useful, the way I bypassed, now, to renew or create instance login every 90 seconds.

    See you soon,.
    Nik.

    The parameter side pocket allows to reduce the timeout to a value less than the default value set for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.  May not go beyond what is on the side server.

  • Widget - Connection HTTP to a site

    I'm building a widget using Visual Studio 2008 plugin on Windows 7. Access to widget RSS feed located on external server.

    I guess I have to add the URL in the config file.  I see a section called Widget permissions in the Config.xml file.

    I click on add field, and then type the domain. However when I click on save the icon, the file is not saved. So when I try to close the file, I get popup asking if I need to save the file, I say Yes.

    Then when I re - open the file, the URL that I just added is not there, the changes are not saved. !!

    I discovered that the connection will not work if there is a proxy. Even if I have the proxy in rimpublic.property and it worked fine with BB plugin for Eclipse for Java.

    However, running the same Simulator MDS, the widget HTTP connection did not work. Is this a problem with the BB plugin for Visual Studio? I'm not sure.

  • Error of connectivity HTTP using JDE 5.0.0 and Blackberry MDS

    Hello

    I use BB MDS Simulator 4.1.2 and BB JDE 5.0.0 for test sample Oracle ADF Mobile client apps that I have developed.
    My application tries to access Web services using HTTP.

    Here's where I meet a HTTP connectivity problem.

    1 see, for example, while trying to test HTTP using the Blackberry browser, I got the error: "host unknown mobile.blackberry.com:80.

    2. the sample I tried to run to test Web Services - accepts a user password and gets its translation in a desired language, using a service offered on the internet Web.
    Here, I tried to translate the word "Madame" in English to the French.
    I met a HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request.

    Please take a look at the Trace of SDM as below (the entries for the "BOLD") and indicate if I'm missing something from the perspective of the configuration.

    PS: I tried different options on the blackberry forums, but they were not very useful.

    Hello:

    A couple of things to try and check:

    -What is your network connection through the proxy server? If you are behind a proxy server, then you would need to set up proxy server in MDS by opening the file /config/rimpublic.property, go to the [HTTP handler] section and add the following line:

    application.handler.http.proxyEnabled = true
    application.handler.http.proxyHost =
    application.handler.http.proxyPort =

    -Try of BlackBerry MDS Simulator that came with JDE 5.0. SDM 4.1.2 should continue to work with 5.0 simulators of the device, but it's worth a

    Can you reach the web service in the browser in your Blackberry Simulator? Feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] - if needed, we can also draw resources to help diagnose this RIM/BlackBerry.

    Thank you

  • browser Simulator simpak 5.0 9530 and cards work do not

    Hello

    I use the simpak Simulator 5.0 9530 and can't get its browser application and maps to work.   The browser says it can't connect to the MDS (Yes, I checkied in the run configuration) and the maps app loads not all cards - also my calls to Locator.geocode (addrInfo, null) return no result in the SIM but it does on the real device. Unfortunetly I don't the real device all day to make my tests on I need the SIM to work just to test and debug my app.

    I also tried the sim 9700 but get a crowd of nullpointerexception on the screen I want to test (I scroll the different EditFields on the screen - the exceptions which do not get triggered on devices 9530 or the real (a storm 9550).)

    So, how can I get the application browser and maps to work?   I tried to check the MDS and set/clean-flash in the bat file - but nothing works.   My application uses http connections which usually work as it seems particularly strange that the browser does not work.  And so we do not use a proxy for internet access.

    I use eclipse 3.5.2 plugin 1.1, Smartphone BlackBerry 5.0.0\5.0.0.419 simulators (9530), Windows XP pro sp3, latest java, java compliance 1.3 value

    A little more information, the screen that I have tested has fields for the user to enter an address.  It has also two buttons - one who evokes the maps app centered on the address entered by the user (geocoded) and the other which records the location indicated by the user as the default location to be used by the app for various things (for example find nearby stuff here).  I have also a menu point which copuies a location since the paper and tries to use it to fill in the fields on the page - so if a user shows its maps app to a place and uses the * copy location * menuitem - it can then paste this location into my application.

    The MDS - CS Simulator fails to start because another application is already using port 8080, which means that it uses to accept connections push.  You can close the other application, or change the port used by the MDS - CS Simulator.

    To change the port, the MDS - CS Simulator uses edit the rimpublic.property file located in the directory below and change the value of the WebServer.listen.port parameter by an unused port.

  • BlackBerry App MIDlet - HttpConnection

    Hello

    I am writing my first app for Blackberry (or any other mobile device) and I'm having a problem making a Blackberry Simulator http request to a WCF service that is running locally. I use the Blackberry Eclipse plug-in, so when I run the application it launches all the MDS - CS Simulator and then starts the Blackberry Simulator. In the Blackberry Simulator, I can open the Blackberry browser and send a request to the WCF service running on my computer with no problems. The service receives the request and inserts a record in the database. However, when the MIDlet application tries to send the same http request to the WCF service, I get a http response code 400 with a response of "Bad Request" message. Here is the code I am using to send the request:

    // Make call to WCF service
    System.out.println("Making call to WCF service.");
    connection = (HttpConnection) Connector.open("http:///MyService/MyService.svc/ajax/ServiceMethod?Parameter1=1&Parameter2=2&Parameter3=3&Parameter4=4;deviceside=false");
    connection.setRequestMethod(HttpConnection.GET);
    rc = connection.getResponseCode();
    System.out.println("rc="+rc+";response message="+connection.getResponseMessage());
    connection.close();

    Notice that, at the end of my URL, I have '; deviceside = false. I read somewhere that you include if you use MDS; not sure if that's just fine. I have tried with and without which at the end, but I get the same answer. I've been doing a little research on Google and poking around on the Blackberry Web site, but I haven't had a bit of luck.

    Any ideas on what could be the problem? Are there changes in the rimpublic.property file that I have to do? Or other properties of the application, I need to set on the HttpConnection object?

    Thanks in advance.

    EDIT: I changed the url in the application MIDlet http://www.google.com and I got a response of 200/OK.

    I ended up creating a WCF RESTful zero service using this tutorial and it worked. I can call from the browser and the MIDlet app successfully. I guess that the original WCF service I called is not fully restorative. The way it is set up is very different from what's in the tutorial, I'll have to take a closer look.

  • JSESSIONID missing header when using BES/MDS

    I created a HttpConnection to a web server and I tried to get the JSESSIONID to the connection header. I noticed that if I add "deviceside = true" at the end of the url connection string, I get the JSESSIONID header, but if it is used "deviceside = false" connection is not returned this header.

    Someone know why the MDS Simulator behaves like that, or is it possible to configure it to fix this problem. My application needs to communicate with the server through a BES, is the same thing is happening on the real phone? In my view, that a BES would erase not this header because it is essential in the http navigation.

    The Service of SDM connection (present in the Simulator and BES) can be configured to manage cookies on behalf of the device (and will by default).

    You can disable this option in the simulator by editing the file install_dir\MDS\config\rimpublic.property can change the following parameter to false:

    application.handler.http.CookieSupport = true

    This can also be disabled on a real BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

  • Background switch detected for MyApp (24) who doesn't have the tunnels open - defocus is NOT called

    I get the error "background switch detected for MyApp (24) who doesn't have the tunnels open - defocus is NOT called. Then the Simulator freezes and I can't do anything. Tried to debug but no luck!

    My application has two other entry points implemented from article http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800738/800901/How_To _...

    Please see code below

    public class UserInterface extends UiApplication{

        public static void main(String[] args){

            if ((args != null) && (args.length > 0) && (0==StringUtilities.compareToIgnoreCase(args[0].toString(), "GUI"))){

                UserInterface theApp = new UserInterface();
                theApp.enterEventDispatcher();
            }
            else {
                try
                {
                    Wait();
                                SetTimer();
                    ManageResources mg = new ManageResources();
                    System.exit(0);

                }
                catch (Exception ex)
                {
                    if (RuntimeConfig.DEBUG)
                    {
                        System.out.println("UserInterface, main:  " + ex);
                    }
                }
            }
        }
        public UserInterface() {
            //  DialogDisplay dd = new DialogDisplay();
            pushScreen(new UserInterfaceScreen(this));
        }

    I also had this problem, the cause is that my computer is behind a proxy firewall so that MDS services Simulator cannot connect to internet, I added the following lines in the file rimpublic.property in the directory "Eclipse\plugins\net.rim.eide.componentpack4.7.0_4.7.0.46\components\MDS\config".

    application.handler.http.proxyEnabled = true
    application.handler.http.proxyHost = proxyserver
    application.handler.http.proxyPort = 8080

    These lines must be placed in the [MANAGER HTTP] section.

    It will be useful.

  • Unable to send an email with the BlackBerry Simulator

    I am trying to set up the BlackBerry Simulator so it can send and receive e-mails from my e-mail server (hosted). While I followed the recommendations in the various articles on how to use the ESS or configure MDS, I can't always send electronic messages of the Simulator.

    E-mail messages are retrieved successfully by the Simulator, however.

    I tried to use both the ESS as well as the various email configuration options under [Email] in the config rimpublic.property MDS file. Both produce the same error message (pasted below).

    I checked several times that the settings for SMTP and POP are properly typed. Interestingly, the following stack trace indicates failure of the SMTP connection on port 25, but this isn't the port number that I entered.

    I wonder if the simulation of e-mail is unable to work with ports other than 25 SMTP?

    I mainly use the ESS and MDS came it with the JDE 4.3 and 4.3 OS simulator 8330, although the 4.6 OS 9000 Simulator produces the same result.

    Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a solution to this. It seems that port 25 is hardcoded in the SSE code and any value is entered in the form, it is port 25 is used.

    My guess is that probably the only way out it is either:

    (a) find an email provider that uses port 25. Unfortunately gmail and none of the other e-mail providers I use actually use port 25, or

    (b) to set up your own mail server that uses port 25.

    I changed the PIN used in the example of 2100000 A to 2100001 A server since it is my default PIN Simulator. When an attempt to send a helping hand with 2100001 A, the command console displays this error:
    Sending push button / http://localhost:28080? DESTINATION = 2100001A & PORT = 100 & REQUESTURI = localhost
    java.io.IOException: server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL: http://localhost:28080 / push? DESTINATION = 2100001A & PORT = 100 & REQUESTURI = localhost

    And if I try the url specified in a web browser, I get:
    HTTP status 403 - no map device 2100001 a host to the PDAP.

    As suggested somewhere, I browse to www.google.com or www.rim.com a couple of times before you send the push (to register with the MDS), but it does not help.

    I Uncomment the push.application.reliable.ports line = 100 in C:\Program Files (x 86) \Research In Motion\BlackBerry Widget Packager\mds\config\rimpublic.property.

    shows http://localhost:28080 / admin/common/home
    Build number: 26
    Build version: 4.1.5.26
    Construction date: 2008/02/06

    Http://localhost:28080 / admin/statistics/statistics, fittings 'Push' is not incremented.

    If I try to push the default PIN 2100000 a, I get:

    Sending push button / http://localhost:28080? DESTINATION = 2100000 a. & PORT = 100 & REQUESTURI =
    localhost
    Answer: Content length: 0

    which seems to indicate success ('Push connections' increments in the statistics page), but no response given that nobody is listening on this PIN.

    So why I can't push at 2100001A?
    Or y at - there a way to fix the PIN code of my Simulator "2100000A?

    Hello

    Have you had any success pushing an e-mail instead of a PIN?

    Open the rimpublic.property file that is associated with the MDS Simulator - CS you are using (you can find in the file MDS\config of the installation of the BlackBerry Web plugin folder) and check that the values are found in the section [Simulator]?  It may look like this:

    [Simulator]
    #[CDK_MODIFICATIONS for Running Multiple Simulators]
    # Each simulator instance must have a unique IPPP port assignment
    # ie. Simulator fledge.exe command lines must have:
    #    /ignore-data-port-conflicts /app-param=IPPPSourcePort:
    Simulator.2100000a=MDS,[email protected]
    Simulator.2100000b=MDS,[email protected]
    Simulator.2100000c=MDS,[email protected]

    Make sure that the PIN / email combination in rimpublic.property correspond to what you use in your sample to push.

    See you soon,.

  • Request for PIN serverside code?

    Hello guys,.

    I develop a serverside only approx. devices can use this application using an application client that connects to the service of the BES with MDS. Now, I would like to confirm their PIN NUMBER, so that I can retrieve the custom DB information.

    So, how can I get the PIN code of the BES? Clientside is no problem, there are enough examples here on the Board, but how do you know that on the side Server?

    Please advise and thank you in advance for your help!

    On your BES server, edit the file rimpublic.property (in c:\Program Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\MDS\Servers\xxxxx) and add these two lines:

    application. Handler.http.Logging = true
    application. Handler.http.Header = pine

    Then restart MDS.

    Http headers will then have a HTTP_RIM_DEVICE_ID entry with the pin of the device.

    is useful if your device connects to the server using http, of course.

  • Need help running push Widget Widget SDK sample

    Hello

    The Widget SDK is my first foray into developing for BlackBerry.

    I downloaded the installer that bundles of the Eclipse IDE (because I had problems with the update of the eclipse) since http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/browserdev/eclipse.jsp Simulator that runs when I launch a widget indicates that it is the Smartphone BlackBerry 2.13.0.56 Simulator

    I tried to run the example (found on http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/subcategories/?userType=21&category=BlackBerry+Widgets&subC...). I have the widget running in the Simulator and the Swing app that runs server-side code works as well, but the messages do not get pushed to the device.

    Here are a few questions & information:

    1. documentation of this example seems to assume a MDS standalone and not as a plug-in - IDE he talks port 8080, but I found that my instance of MDS is tuned to 28080

    2 access localhost 28080 shows me the status of SDM which is

    Build number: 93
    Build version: 5.0.0.93
    Construction date: 2009/08/12

    3. the example instructions say:

    Open the rimpublic.property file, located in the subdirectory MDS\config of the BlackBerry Email installation directory and Services MDS simulators.   Make sure that the line 'push.application.reliable.ports = 100' is NOT commented.

    I did find this line (I found the MDS file with the file with this name under \plugins\net.rim.browser.tools.wcpc_1.0.0.200910291414-35\wcpc\mds\config) so I added it myself.

    4. I am running Win 7 Ultimate and tried this after letting a MDS access by adding an exception and more completely by disabling the firewall.

    5. for the RIM option in server code to push, I get the following exception in the console:

    Sending to http://localhost:28080/push?DESTINATION=2100000A&PORT=100&REQUESTURI=localhostjava.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 400 for URL: http://localhost:28080/push?DESTINATION=2100000A&PORT=100&REQUESTURI=localhost

    6. for PAP, I see:

    [B@186d4c1[B@186d4c1 sending PAP request to http://localhost:28080/pap; pushId = pushID:64424432--asdlfkjiurwghasfContent-Type: application/xml; charset=UTF-8

    http://www.wapforum.org/DTD/pap_2.0.dtd"   []>

    --asdlfkjiurwghasfContent-Type: text/plain pap--asdlfkjiurwghasf-- [B@f9f9d8[B@f9f9d8[B@15b7986[B@15b7986

    7. on the console for the DMS, I see:

    <2009-11-28 03:49:48.683 EST>:[115]:::
    <2009-11-28 03:49:48.694 EST>:[116]:::

    <2009-11-28 03:52:49.193 EST>:[121]:::

    8. After awhile, when you use PAP, the Eclipse console displays "connection of Notification period. Restart of... "and this message keeps repeating.

    So, if someone could point me in the right direction to get it to work or give me an idea of what I'm doing wrong, that would be great! I really don't know too much about the development of BlackBerry or SDM or push so I do not know where to start.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    It turns out that there is a known issue in the connection services MDS where environmental push imitate them you have to take a few steps.

    Once you have the open Simulator, you must have the device Simulator to connect through the SDM a couple of times so that he knows that this is actually.

    What we have seen that the work, should open the browser and go to a link like http://www.google.com a couple of times and then try and push.

    some of our developers have seen that sometimes it can take a few tests so that the MDS detect the Simulator.  We have a bug connected with the MDS team on this topic.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones test web application through BlackBerry Simulator.

    Hello

    I have to test my web application on a blackberry Simulator. My first question is: if it is possible to test any web application using the Simulator or I can test only the rich applcations of BlackBerry?

    I do the following:

    1. I downloaded Black Berry Email and MDS services Simulator 4.1.2 and BlackBerry_Simulators_4.7.0.78_9500 - Vodafone.exe.

    2A started the MDS Simulator first, then the BB Simulator.

    But I am not able to connect to internet, BB Simulator. Am I missing a config in the MDS Simulator.

    Help, please. This is urgent. TIA.

    Hello

    Open the rimpublic.property file. The rimpublic.property file is located in the following locations: \Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Email and Simulators\MDS\config of MDS

    Then add these commands in the section [MANAGER HTTP], update the following:

    application.handler.http.proxyEnabled = true

    application.handler.http.proxyHost = hostname

    application.handler.http.proxyPort = hostport
    application.handler.http.proxyUser = username

    application.handler.http.proxyPass = password

    application.handler.http.proxyAutoConfig = true

    application.handler.http.proxyAutoConfigURL = http://URL_to_Your_Config_File

    application.handler.http.proxyAutoConfig.ScriptCacheTime = 0

    Save these changes and to make with your steps... that will succeed to open a web application on your Simulator... more can know which web application (i.e. URL) that you want to test... I had the same problem, but somehow managed to open sites to Simulator after adding these commands. But my main concern is to open a URL in sector public siebel that is installed on a server in 9530 Simulator device. Can you/only you know which deals with the implementation of CRM siebel on simulators could you please suggest me doing this task.

    Thanks in advance
