ROM dvd missing in windows 8

I have two identical new SATA LG DVD drives & both are seen in the Bios. Windows sees only one. I have reverse SATA cables & they both work, but the Device Manager can only find one. I've now spent 4 hours on this & am nearing the end of my home with Windows 8.

New Gigabyte 990FXA Mobo UD5

New 8 GB Ram Corsair

Windows 8 Pro

Both drives are visible in the Bios I tried different ports & leads with the Bios see every time, however win 8 Device Manager does not work. Selection of the view hidden devices shows two drives with those hidden properties location 0 Channel 0 Target 0 Lun 0. Not logged 45 Code. If it is not connected how come the Bios sees it?

    Hi all

After an unsuccessful attempt to install a key USB TV, my DVD/CDRW drive has disappeared. It still works, I can hear it working, but Windows XP does not know more that the computer has this feature. It also is not upward under 'my computer' more. • CD-ROM/DVD-ROM missing from Device Manager, FRUSTRATED!

I jumped on my computer today, to copy a disc in iTunes and found that Windows is for some reason, do not recognize my DVD/CD drive.  Now, the drive is very good; This works.  I put in a disc and it runs.  But that's all.  I go to Device Manager to see what is the problem and I find that the knot of READERS of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is missing altogether.  -What happened?  If anyone can help (not you, Rob;) I already tried everything in your list of suggestions), please.  I would appreciate.

    Hi Dtorres,

    • What exactly do you mean by it works when I insert the disk?

If the device is missing in the Device Manager, it may be due to hardware failure or if the drive cables are not connected properly. This can also happen if there is a damage in the drive cable, windows will not be able to detect the drive.

However, you can contact the computer manufacturer to verify if there is any firmware that you can install for the CD / DVD player and if you can run a diagnostic tool for the material.

You can also start the BIOS of your laptop and check if the drive is detected in the BIOS and post back the result.

I hope this helps. Let us know the result.

I am running win 7 32 bit and the DVD drive is the same one that came installed when I bought the laptop.

This is the message I get "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device.
The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) »

    CAN ANYONE HELP?

    Hello

I m a bit confused how you managed to download the CD/DVD driver for the STRANGE internal (optical disc).
The point is that all Windows operating systems contain own driver Microsoft ODD that controls the CD/DVD drive.
That is why it s not necessary to load/install the drivers for the CD/DVD drive.

    I think it s a registry problem.
You should first go to Device Manager and should remove the CD/DVD of the system drive.

Next step is cleaning the registry.
Start regedit and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After this restart of the unit
    Should work

    Welcome & good luck

PS; It is a model of cell phone US and all the drivers are located on the Toshiba U.S. page.

Then I opened the Device Manager and saw that the CD was registered it is more as well?

    My question is

Vista automatically removes the CD-ROM drive in the list of Device Manager if there is a problem with the drive itself?

Or is there something that happened this suppression the CD-ROM in Device Manager list and it is not a problem with the drive itself?

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry for your CD/DVD settings
drive from someone with the same model.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays all the
devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

  • CD-ROM/DVD-ROM not working-Code 39

Inserted a disk and found that my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is not working. For Device Manager and got this message:

Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

The device is Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560 s

With the help of Windows Vista, ACER Aspire 6930

Tried to find solutions, but nothing happened... need suggestions on how to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello

Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the total process
    which solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Also check with your system manufacturer to see if there are any updated drivers for your DVD.
Or even if there are the 'old', you can reinstall. Many use the default Windows drivers
However, some will be more special. Also check the website of the manufacturer of the car.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
