Run DHCP on the router with DSL internet

I currently have internet DSL with Bell (Canada) with my wrt160n router connected to the modem. I've been reading around and it seems that my router should use PPPoE rather that DHCP is currently using it. I guess that of maybe the reason why I have a strict NAT on xbox live I tried all the solutions found on this forum and nothing done. In the ip address of the router status tab is a private IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x)

Your help would be really appreciated.

If you want to go back to the previous settings in your modem, simply connect your modem to your computer and input 192.168.2.1.  Enter your b1 # and password and hit save.  Reconect the modem to the router and change the settings to auto dhcp.

  • When I try to connect with my wireless laptop will connect only to Local access. If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    VIsta - Local access only

    HI -.
    I recently moved.   I use the same router from my old apartment and I had no problem connection in the past.   Since I moved I have a new Time Warner modem (Cisco) and the modem works fine.

    The router also works very well I'm able to connect with my iPhone and IPad without any problem.

    But when I try to connect with my wireless laptop, it will only connect to Local access.    If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    It's a Dell Studio 15 with Vista.

    The computer is able to connect to wifi to other places without any problem, but for some reason that I can't connect home.   I tried to reset the modem and the router several times, but that did not help.   I tried the option repair & diagnose several times but it doesn't work.

    I tried to look for other solutions online and tried to disable IPv6, and while it helped some and I was able to connect wireless, the computer ran so slowly that it didn't seem like a good solution.

    This has been very frustrating.   Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.
    Staci

    Hello Staciusa,

    Have you tried to change the wireless channel that your router is running at? There may be interference that could prevent the internet connection:

    Take a look at step 6 in this article that give more details about it:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/athome/Setup/wirelesstips.aspx

    If you need assistance to change the settings of the specific router, you will need to contact your router manufacturer or your internet service provider.

  • How know if the router or modem cable is the problem with bad internet?

    I have intermittent problems of internet home.  The internet goes out for very short periods, then back on several times a day. At various periods of time, usually in bunches up.  Then sometimes instead of being down for maybe a normal 15-30 seconds, it could last 5-20 minutes.  And there are also periods of hours sometimes where the speed is VERY slow.

    When he is not at all working, Airport utility looks like in the following screenshot, with the orange Internet and other green devices.  Sometimes, it only shows the Internet icon and light, with nothing else underneath.  If the internet is very slow (and I mean really slow, like minute 2 page load or not at all), everything is green, including the Internet icon.

    It is the Charter cable with a modem surfboard, connected to an older Airport Extreme (in mode not wireless) model, which is connected to three aircraft from the airport, you can see in the screenshot.  Everything works very well for 8 years, but these problems have taken place in recent months. I replaced since the cable modem for a brand new, I have reset the Airport Extreme to the factory settings and tried all sorts of other things.

    It isn't the wireless aspect, because I can connect a computer to the ethernet jack and it has the same problems.

    So here's what I want to know: is there a way I can tell if it's the Airport Extreme or if it's the Internet Charter being flaky?  (I know it's not the cable modem because it does the same thing that before I replaced it).  I just want to isolate the problem. I don't want to succumb to Charter calling again, as we think the run around, I'm going to forward all tech would come home, and they never admits to have flaky internet.

    I bought a bolt of lightning to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter so I can plug my Macbook Air directly into the cable modem, without going through the Airport Extreme, but internet is not stay down long enough for me to access, plug it in and reboot the cable modem.   Frustrating.

    Suggest that you connect the MacBook Air directly to the modem, connect the Mac to the Internet and keep an eye on the MacBook Air from time to time for at least one day complete.  A few days would be even better, if possible.

    If the connection remains strong during your 'test', based on other information that you provide as...

    connected to an older model Airport Extreme

    and

    Everything works very well for 8 years

    The first thought that comes to mind is that life expectancy, on average, for airport routers is about 5 years. It's on food, on average, at the start of the descent position.  Momentary grave start occurring, and the drops will increase in frequency over time.

    It is a bet of $20, but you might consider replacing the external power for AirPort Extreme see if that provides any assistance.  This does nothing for the internal power inside the airport of course components.

  • Networking Windows 7 with XP using the router and no internet - machines cannot be

    Hello

    I searched the web and tried all kinds of suggestions to do this, but my new Win7 machine does not always show my daughters XP machine, and vice versa his XP machine is not showing my win7.

    I don't want to have access to the internet so currently have my machine win 7 connected directly to my hub blank so that I can access internet from my win7 machine.  I then another connection from LAN port on my Win7 machine to the router which is also connected his XP machine.

    In my networks and sharing on Win7, I see my homegroup network, which has access to the internet.  Then the other network to the router shows as "unidentified" and the public, but I am unable to change anything on this subject? So can't make a working group or at home.

    The XP machine has also recognized the network and created a shared folder for its own files, but nothing for the win7 machine.

    Both seem to recognize the router and network, but not each other.  Am I missing something?  If it makes any difference, I've already named two machines with the same workgroup name.

    Is anyone able to offer advice?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Vicki

    Hello!

    First you must make sure that the two PC's on the same workgroup. Just checking if they have the same subnet mask. And finally make sure you works discovered the network on Windows 7 PC.

    If computers are subnet masks different IP addresses, they will not be able to see each other.

    That I understood your message, you don't want to not PC your daughter to have access to the internet. You can assign static addresses of daughter and your computers. Try to do this:

    1 assign to computer on Win XP LAN network card public static address 10.0.0.10 and the subnet mask 255.255.255.0.  To do this, go in Control Panel > network connections, choose the connection you must edit (the one that goes to the Windows 7 computer) and click Properties. In the windows that opens, double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Then choose use the following IP address and fill in the fields with the information above.

    2. the PC Windows 7 go Network and Sharing Center > change the settings of the card and double-click adapter that connects the computer to Win XP. Click on Properties and Internet Protocol Version 4. Then choose use the following IP address and put 10.0.0.11 subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

    3. on the Windows 7 PC to go network and sharing Center > advance change sharing settings. In the public profile check turn on network discovery.

    4. make sure that both computers are on the same workgroup (important)

    After completing these steps computers must be able to meet and communicate.
    Hope this will help. Please let me know the results!

  • WRT160N v3: unable to connect to the page web configuration of the router with Firefox or IE

    Whenever I try to connect to my router's admin page, I get "the connection to the server was reset while the page is loading."  This happens with FIrefox 11 and started when I upgraded to 8 or 9.  A machine running FF 3.6 does not have this problem; I get right in.  Words IE 9 is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" (after complaining about the certificate has expired).

    I ran Wireshark to see if I could learn something, but everything that I could understand was:

    https handshake was OK.

    First TLS packet is received by the router, which then immediately issues a reset and the connection is interrupted.  I don't know why.

    Has anyone seen this? or I have a setup that is screwed to the top (or router)?

    Then I did a full-on reset. I had tried to get in the Mode of administration, following an article in the FAQ, but the web page came in normal mode, default 192.168.1.1. From there on, I WAS able to make the success of downloading the new firmware from 2010 (v3.0.03). Unfortunately, once I've reconfigured the box to a similar to the previous configuration, I have the same problem: connection to https://10.244.122.1 of Firefox 3.6 works; 12 Firefox (now), it will fail, get the error "reset while page is loading". My last try will just disable the https - I just discovered where I can - and see if it will work. Because it's only on my home network, if traffic to the configuration page is not encrypted it really doesn't matter that much. (I had previously determined using Wireshark happened to reset during the TLS negotiation after the HTTPS had finished). And hell, that worked. So my problem is not resolved, but it is bypassed and I'll mark it closed.,.

  • WIFI connects to the router but no internet connection on 15R 3521

    Hi, the new laptop 3521 with Win7 Pro the WLAN will connect to the selected wireless router but is unable to establish an internet connection.

    WLan Driver 1703 was duly installed once the Chipset driver was installed, as recommended.

    Fortunately, other mobile devices to connect to the same router. Ubuntu on this laptop was also happy to connect to internet on WIFI, only Win7 fails.

    Disabled the Win7 firewall, but no change. This connection, unidentified in the network and sharing Center.   Router SSID etc have been entered correctly. Remove the WLAN profile and not reinstated, no change.

    Tried to connect to another router wireless with the same result. I can only run this laptop on wired connection to the router.

    I am at a loss as to what other steps I could take to correct this key WLan / internet access.

    Any suggestions would be welcome. See you soon.

    Hi love,

    Thanks for your advice. I deleted the profiles (two identical found!), also removed all entries of all WiFi routers in Win 7 registry. This step has not resolved the problem.

    However, I found the reason for the connection problem and the solution is the following:

    In the wireless connected (TP-Link) router, wireless--> channel settings is set to 'AUTO' (which is to select automatically 20 MHz or 40 MHz).

    In the device driver Dell WLAN 1703 (properties--> advanced--> bandwidth 802.11 n, the value has been set on (ie the Atheros is the default!))  "20 MHz.

    Once I put the option value "20 MHz / 40 MHz Auto", the connection comes to life.

    What a relief!

    The question is now completely resolved. Thank you to all who have contributed.

    Better with respect to Dzsino.

  • Samsung S6 connects to the router but no internet

    When I switched to xfinity I bought a C6300. I had problems with the first not allowing my NAS to connect so I exchanged against another. My phone would connect to the router and work fine for awhile then lose Internet connectivity. The only way to get it back is to reboot the router. I tried several different units, and I am now on a C3700. The problem still exists and seems to be deteriorating. All of the suggestions.

    I solved my problem by replacing the Netgear with a Zoom. It was the only one that I could find who said it would work with Android. I hope that Netgear will get things straightened.

  • When Photosmart C6380 connects to the router Netgear WNDR3400, internet connection lost.

    Using HP Photosmart C6380 wireless connection to a Netgear WNDR3400v2 router.  When the printer is on, all devices of lose the internet connection, but can be crazy.  Network WPA2 authentication. the printer shows WPA authentication configuration page so maybe that's the problem.  How can I keep my internet access while the printer is connected to the network?

    FRST, make sure that your router has the latest firmware.

    Let's define an IP address static and exeternal DNS of the printer:

    -Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
    -Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
    -Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
    -On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
    -Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
    -Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
    -Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS. It's Google DNS. You can choose a different external DNS if you wish.
    -Click 'apply '.

    Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

    After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • E8350 in Bridge mode allow me access to the router with 192.168.1.1

    I have a small home network with the E8350 (AC2400) and a PK5001A of Qwest ActionTec modem.  I needed to put the router in Bridge mode to enable NAT in the modem works properly.  By simply disabling the NAT in the E8350 network broe. Once I placed the E8350 in bridge mode, I lost connectivity via 192.168.1.1.  The network seems to work correctly, I can't access the router remotely.  Is this normal or is it a different setting I'm missing?

    When you have done this, you probably have a new ip address of the primary router. See what she is looking at the main router connections or by manually adjusting it 192.168.1.2 or some other ip that is in your network. If the primary router uses a different subnet as 192.168.0.x, then you must use an IP also in this same range.

    Hello

    I don't know exactly what the problem with your application, but maybe you could try to create a method in the application module impl.
    If I understand correctly, you must run the firstVO as soon as the taskFlow is called and based on the line returned by one, run the secondVO.

    You can do this with a method in the ApplicationModuleImpl. I created an example:

    public void executeViewObjects(Number managerId){
        if(managerId!=null){
          getDepartments1().setNamedWhereClauseParam("inManagerId", managerId);
          getDepartments1().executeQuery();
          Row dep=getDepartments1().first();
          if(dep!=null){
            Number departmentId=(Number)dep.getAttribute("DepartmentId");
            getEmployees1().setNamedWhereClauseParam("inDepartmentId", departmentId);
            getEmployees1().executeQuery();
          }
        }
      }

    If you expose this method and drop in your taskFlow you can map it is the input of the taskFlow parameter input parameter.

    Gabriel.
