RV016 routing

Hi all

I just bought a new brilliant RV016 router. I have a connection to the Internet at xxx.200.139.197; a single IP connection. However, I have a routed subnet of 204.174.204.0/23 through that IP connection. In other words, for 204.174.204.0/23 traffic is routed to xxx.200.139.197.

Now I want to configure my router RV016 to manage traffic for 204.174.204.0/23 (or I can set it up in two class C subnets if required, or more small subnets if necessary or desirable). In the 'old days' when I did it in the command line, I would simply have two IP addresses to a single interface, and that's the road would exist.

How can I configure this range with the RV016?

Thank you

Richard

Hello Richard,.

I think I understand what you're trying to do.

If you go to---> NETWORK SETTINGS, then go down to LAN settings, it will give you the option to add a different subnet. Just add the subnet of 204.174.204.0/23. I don't know if you've tried or not. Just give it a try and see if this resolves your first question.

I hope this helps.

  • Connect the 2 locations using RV016 router to fill 2 different networks.

I have a RV016 connected to a comcast cable modem to slot 1 with IP 192.168.6.1

I have a RV016 connected to a comcast cable modem at the 2 with 192.168.10.1 IP location

I installed a VPN tunnel from gateway to gateway between 2 routers RV016.

I have a LAN in slot 1 with the IP 192.168.1.1, which connects to the internet through an Adtran router with 4 lines of T1 servile.

I have a LAN with IP 192.168.5.1 2 location that connects to the internet through an Adtran router with 3 T1 lines servile.

I like a computer to location 2 to connect to the RV016 in the local Comcast modem to the Comcast modem at location 1 in the RV016 to slot 1 then go out to the local network at location 1 and communicate with an application server on LAN 1.

    Help, please.

You can't do that with a RV016. The RV016 only supports layer 3 tunnel. This means that the two ends are different networks with different subnets. The traffic between them is not filled.

If you want to really two bridged networks, i.e. join in a single LAN with a single IP subnet and a single broadcast domain you need a layer 2 tunnel, for example a tunnel L2TPv3. That works on layer 2, which is on the MAC addresses inside your networks. In this way, you can use the same IP subnet at both ends and on each side, it seems that the other side is connected to the same ethernet network.

The RV016 does not support the tunneling of layer 2. You can create an IPSec tunnel, which is layer 3. If there is really a need for a tunnel layer 2, you get different devices. I recommend that you evaluate if a layer 2 connection is really necessary or not.

  • RV016 router blocks the wireless reception

We cannot access our wireless modem because it blocks the Cisco router.  When I try to access the router through a browser, I get a message that the router blocks access.  HELP!

Hi Jeannette. The RV016 isn't a wireless product. If you are able to connect with a wired connection and browse the internet without problem, the RV016 isn't the cause of the problem for the wireless. The wireless box would be the culprit if your wired connections have no problems.

    Enrique,

    On the RV082:

    1. -> Double-WAN management system
    2. Change of balancing load (Auto Mode) at the bottom of the page you will now see binding protocol
    3. Select HTTPS [TCP/443 ~ 443] in the menu drop-down
    4. Select the source IP address or range: (i.e. 192.168.1.100 to 150) that will bind HTTPS for any LAN device that uses an IP address in this range.
    5. Select the address IP of Destination: leave generally to 0.0.0.0 to 0.0.0.0 for all destinations
    6. Select the Interface to bind the Protocol (WAN1 or WAN2)
    7. Check the box enable and add to the list. Save settings at the bottom of page.

    On the RV016:

    1. Management-> multi-WAN system
    2. Look for the setting of the Interface to and select Edit to WAN1.
    3. Follow the steps above.

  • With the help of RV016 with DSL modem/router/wireless

I have a question of configuration that will probably seem obvious to many readers, please go easy on me: I'm new to this.  I used a RV016 because it will allow me to have the diversity and conservation of roads to the internet for our SMEs.  Since we are now counting on the insurance and processing of credit cards that is the Internet, I won't be down if the cable company fails, so I added the DSL service.  When DSL service arrived, the carrier provided a modem Motorola 3347 which includes the router, switch and wireless in one device.  Instead of installing a WAP browser, I would like to use the 3347 wireless.

However, users on the wireless cannot print to printers on the RV016.  Is it possible that I can make visible printers to wireless users?

    Photo shows the problem...

Yet once, guess I am missing the point and GENTLY try to educate myself.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Cunnida56

If I remember the RV016 is installed in what called default gateway mode and you will have to be in router mode.

Gateway mode essentially allows NAT (NAT) services, so that the LAN is coordinated against the WAN IP address.

You have an option under Setup > advanced routing to assign the RV016 router, mode option and save the settings.

In router mode NAT is disabled, but you also have to disable the SPI Firewall options and block Wan requests, all of these options are found under the Firewall tab.

Your next step is to add a static route in the motorola 3347 that points to the 192.168.2.0 network.

This static route will allow wireless clients to know the WAN1 address the RV016, who will act as a gateway to the 192.168.2.0 network.

Good luck.. and have fun, do not forget to save or to apply your chages as you go.

    Best regards, Dave

  • RV016 and WAP321 with a network of comments

I have two Cisco WAP321 AP and Cisco RV016 router.

I use the RV016 as the DHCP server for the network.

I would like to use the guest SSID mapped to a VLAN to issolate it the rest of the network.

How can I configure the RV016 to carry the traffic of the customer both VLANS and VLAN internal internet while using it as a DHCP server.

    Thanks for any help.

    John McArthur

Hey, it's essentially a non supported configuration. RV016 port supports only function VLAN and 1 single DHCP scope. If you want a staggered VLAN comments with the router something like a layer 3 switch must be put in place between the router and the AP to accommodate this configuration.

  • Problem to open ports in Cisco RV016

    Hi all

I have a Cisco RV016 router, with some ports configured in "Setup--> UPnP. Currently, I have problems to set up new ports. I can create the 'Service Management' service, but when I add this service to the list, press 'Save' and the router log. I need to re-login to the router, and it does not save the changes.

However, if I add a service that has been already exists before having this problem, router save the changes (but the router log too).

The router has the latest firmware since the first round.

Anyone has the same problem? Or how to fix?

    Thanks and greetings

Carlos is the probable solution. The router does not known problems for shipping fail unless it's a strange circumstance like the config is messed up somehow. The only time where it can have problems if you try to use more than 30 rules there are some contradictory overlap.

  • RV016 replacement / upgrade

I have a RV016 router that I use as a gateway with the backup service providers. (including one with att, one with winstream)  I have 5 buildings linked by MPLS circuits for data and phone.  Works fine, however I need to add a different subnet to the system (192.168.110.1) (192.168.111.1) (192.168.112.1) (192.168.113.1) (192.168.114.1)

Someone at - it suggestions or recommendation as to what to do, or what camera I use?

Hi Don, the RV016 supports several feature subnet. If the goal is communication LAN, it must be adapted to the different LAN ip, you do not want to add.

  • RV042 routing problem

I try to use the rv042 as a primary internet connection and also as a VPN failover for my primary private WAN connection.

I have a load balancer / failover device, called a Fiberlogic, which acts as the main router to network my office remotely.  This device shows you all the traffic to my private network go to junction A and all Internet traffic going to the B connection (connection B is the rv042).  If the fiberlogic sees this connection is down, it will send the connection B's private network traffic.  The RV042 has a VPN setup, I tested it and it works.

However, I have one VERY difficult to get the RV042 to act as our internet gateway.  The RV042 is in mode "gateway."  Devices plugged into it directly (or via an external switch) work very well.  The RV042 LAN is 10.2.254.0/24, and he est.1.  FiberLogic est.254.  The main network is 10.2.0.0/24 (and the FiberLogic.1.  The FiberLogic road all traffic to the internet (and for failover) of 10.2.254.1.  I have install a static route for the RV042 road 10.2.0.0/24 to 10.2.254.254.

I had a ton of problems with this earlier today.  I have a second RV042 I put in to see if that would fix it.  There can be no.  Finally I have restored the default settings and reset the top, and I thought it worked.  As I was cleaning the I did one last test - and it failed.

I have install a hub between the FiberLogic and the RV042 and configure a computer with Wireshark to do some packet traces.  I get strange results.  I never get a repyl.  SOMETIMES I see answers from 10.2.254.1 (the RV042) towards 10.2.0.25 (my desktop) in wireshark, even if I don't get them (odd).  However, whenever I have ping to internet, I never see the answers, only applications.

I read that DHCP should be disabled for a static routing to work.  I tried with and without DHCP several times.  I tried with and without VPN.

Once again, peripheral not behind the fine work of fiberlogic (i.e. on the 10.2.254.0/24 subnet that use the RV042 as gateway).  UT behind the fiberlogic devices fail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RV042 Rv082 and RV016 router can be configured for additional NAT networks who are sitting behind the LAN.

    1. log on to the router

    2. go in the configuration Page

    3. roughly halfway down the page, there are article that says "several Setting subnet.

    4. click on the button that says "Add/Edit."  This will bring up a dialog box

    5. Enter the network number and subnet mask, then click 'Add to list' for example network: 192.168.200.0 mask subnet: 255.255.255.0

    6. click on save changes

    7. that you will return to the previous page in the installer

    8. the checkbox in Multiple subnet must be checked and the second network to be coordinated should be

    9. click on the page to "Save settings" at the bottom of the page

I note: the latest version of the firmware for the RV016 seems to prefer to have this process done with Internet Explorer.

  • Need RV016 VPN connect when the router is turned on?

Restarted my RV016 (e.g. after a power failure) the gateway to gateway VPN do not connect.  I have to go the VPN router summary page and click on connect to get them started.  Is there a way to make this happen automatically?

  • Two RV016, gateway to gateway, routing over VPN

    Hello

I have two RV016, I have a vpn connection from gateway to gateway between the two and I can ping computers on both sides, but I can't reach the third lan (10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0). I can join this network to routerA but not of routerB.

    My Network typology:

    Configuration of routers (see attachments)

How can I configure static routes on router B?

I tried to do, but it does not work (see RouterB_routing.jpg)

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you.

    Krzysztof,

Unfortunately the rv016 you cannot make static through the vpn tunnel routes as it isn't an ipsec interface in the static routes section of the router.  This is normal, the router will recognize that the default setting of lan in the vpn tunnel.

You need to business routers to make the static routes through the ipsec tunnel.

  • Services edit problems on RV016

I need to change some firewall rules and the service on a RV016 using remote access management. I need to add a few new rules of firewall and need to add new services. But it is impossible to add a service.

I click on "Service Management"-online "Service name" insert-online fill in the port range => click 'Add to list'-online now the new entry appears in the list =>, click on "Save Configuration". Close the small window and reload the Web page of the router. But nothing has changed. I can't add or delete any service (services wants to delete is not in use more!). It is also impossible to change an unnecessary entry.

It is impossible to change the services through remote management?

I tried to use 3 different customers to change services:

-Mac OS X 10.6, Safari + Firefox (off Adblocker, popup blocker off, accept all cookies), Sandbox firewall off

-Windows XP (using the Sun VM), Microsoft Internet Explorer

-iPhone 3 GS - Safari mobile browser

    I also used 3 different internet connections. ADSL 2 x 1 x 3G

Result: I can just edit and add services using the iPhone via 3 G (China Unicom) connection.

I'm currently located in China.  The great wall has perhaps prevented service Editor to work properly.

  • on howto RV016 subnet mask 255.255.0.0?

Hello, I need to put my router linksys RV016 with the main IP 192.168.10.254 / 255.255.0.0, but I can´t choose this netmask!.

255.255.255.0 is the greater ability to mask that I can use in the web application linksys.

Yes... I can use the "Multiple subnet" and add a subnet with this mask... but I don't want to do...

Is it possible to put a 255.255.0.0 mask like head mask on a RV016?

    Thank you

Unfortunately, router Linksys support only class C subnet, this is a limitation of product and as I understand it, it's because Linksys was design to meet Small Office / Home Office or small business. This is the reason why you can not change the subnet of the said router.

  • Cisco RV016 failover & load balance Multi WAN question

    Hello

I think the RV016 is the camera to buy for our small building, but I'm a bit confused in the manual if my scheduled configuration is possible, so if you could confirm if this is possible I would appreciate it.

We have a leased line as our main connection (lets call him WAN1). If this connection is not available, I don't want to load balance to any other network WAN.

We have 2 netgear 4G devices identical (we'll call WAN 2 and 3 WAN). If the leased line is not available, I would like to then load balance these two WAN connections.

Then I have a final connection, WAN4 as a slow adsl line. I don't know right now if I want to load balance this WAN1 or just have it as a backup to WAN2 and WAN3 failure (WAN2 and WAN3 have a 20 GB data limit each on their monthly allowance of the contract, if the leased line is down for more than a couple of days, what is unfortunately already happened) (then we reached this limit and then there is charged with extremely expensive data or just use the only ADSL)

In any case, it's normal, I want to balance the load. I want to only load balance WAN3 and WAN2 WAN1 fails.

Anyone know if this is possible? If not, is there any other similar device which would be appropriate?

    Thank you

    Ben

    Hi Bencarroll01,

With RV016 you can get what you need.

RV016 supports up to 7 WAN connection, and there are two mode of operation

    • Swing smart (Auto Mode): This option allows you to balance traffic between all interfaces increase the available bandwidth. The router balance traffic between the weighted alternating interfaces.
    • Group of IP (by users): Select this option for trafficking group on each WAN interface by levels of priority or classes of service (CoS). With this feature, you can ensure the bandwidth and a more high priority for specified services and users. All traffic that is not added to the IP group uses Intelligent balancing mode. To specify the services and users, click modify for the WAN interface and then add the entries of binding protocol for each service, IP address or IP address range.

For our case, we must have RV016 configured with IP Group(By User), so in this case, we can configure binding protocol that we can specify and force all traffic from any IP address of the local network outside through WAN1. and any other WAN connection they always towards the TOP but not the traffic passing through them

Now if WAN1 is down, immediately the rule to redirect traffic WAN 1 will be disabled and all traffic will pass through the rest of the WAN connection

After that if the WAN1 is once again the binding protocol rule will be active again and again all the traffic will be done by WAN 1

Please let me know if you have any other questions
