With the help of RV016 with DSL modem/router/wireless

I have a question of configuration that will probably seem obvious to many readers, please go easy on me: I'm new to this.  I used a RV016 because it will allow me to have the diversity and conservation of roads to the internet for our SMEs.  Since we are now counting on the insurance and processing of credit cards that is the Internet, I won't be down if the cable company fails, so I added the DSL service.  When DSL service arrived, the carrier provided a modem Motorola 3347 which includes the router, switch and wireless in one device.  Instead of installing a WAP browser, I would like to use the 3347 wireless.

However, users on the wireless cannot print to printers on the RV016.  Is it possible that I can make visible printers to wireless users?

Photo shows the problem...

Yet once, guess I am missing the point and GENTLY try to educate myself.

Thank you very much.

Hi Cunnida56

If I remember the RV016 is installed in what called default gateway mode and you will have to be in router mode.

Gateway mode essentially allows NAT (NAT) services, so that the LAN is coordinated against the WAN IP address.

You have an option under Setup > advanced routing to assign the RV016 router, mode option and save the settings.

In router mode NAT is disabled, but you also have to disable the SPI Firewall options and block Wan requests, all of these options are found under the Firewall tab.

Your next step is to add a static route in the motorola 3347 that points to the 192.168.2.0 network.

This static route will allow wireless clients to know the WAN1 address the RV016, who will act as a gateway to the 192.168.2.0 network.

Good luck.. and have fun, do not forget to save or to apply your chages as you go.

Best regards, Dave

  • Install RVS4000 with ADSL modem / router combo?

I am trying to install a VPN RVS4000 router in our small office.  My problem is that AT & T has installed a Netopia 3347-02 combination of DSL Modem / Router.  So I can not connect the RVS4000 directly to a dsl modem, the only access I have is on the side of the Netopia DSL.  When I tried to affect the rating the RVS4000 the same subnet as our local area network WAN, he wouldn't let me do.  I tried to adjust the side Lan side of the (same) RVS4000 Wan and the Netopia slightly different subnet, but that no longer works.  The only way I can get internet access through two devices is to connect the side Lan of the Netopia alongside the RVS4000 Lan, but that circumvents the VPN, correct?  The reason why I bought the RVS4000 is to the VPN.  Is it possible to configure the RVS4000 in this situation, or should I get a plain old DSL modem without router integrated?

    Thank you, Scott

    Scott,

It should not need to get another device to use the VPN of the RVS4000 features.  To set up the equipment you have, you just place the Netopia DSL router in the 'bridge' mode  This will then allow you to connect the DSL router to the WAN (internet) port on your RVS4000.  Once in bridged mode, your WAN on the RVS4000 port will receive its IP address of AT & T, which will then take over the functions of routing and allow you to use this router VPN functionality.

If your DSL provider uses PPPoE, you will need to select "PPPoE" on the RVS4000 WAN configuration page, and then enter the user name and password in the RVS4000 so that it can authenticate and obtain an IP address from AT & T.

To put the Netopia DSL router to "bridge" mode, I included a link to one of their user's guides.  The section to put it in Bridge mode starts on page 107.

  • Lose OfficeJet 6500 Wi - Fi with the new DSL modem/router

This happened after replacing failed DSL with a NetGear N300 wireless modem/router. I was not to restore this connection through Windows 7 Control Panel settings (maybe I don't know which change it?). There is no problem with the connection to other PC - just this printer has the problem.

Any suggestions on the cause of this problem and the actions I can take to solve it will be appreciated.

    Thank you

OK, thanks for the clarification.  We will do this:

1 restart the modem/router by pulling its plug momentarily.

    2. on the front of the printer: Setup (wrench) > network > Restore Defaults.

    3. in the same network menu, run the Wireless Setup Wizard.  Follow the instructions.

Once the printer is connected to the network, remove and re-add the printer that I described above.

  • Windows fax with modem/router wireless - HELP

How can I add the free FAX from Windows program that comes with my netbook windows7?  I have a Siemens Gigaset Smartbox 604 wireless modem/router, but the choices are: 1) an internal modem, 2) an external analog modem, 3) a fax through the system administrator server.  What should I do? (Please answer ASAP)

Fax from a computer, you must have an analog modem installed, internal or external.

Reason: the fax machine at the other end is connected to a regular analog telephone line, not cable or a DSL line.

  • Windstream says interferes with ADSL modem router

I signed up with windstream DSL internet service yesterday. I have a netgear wnr1000 n150 router and a flow stream 4200 dsl modem. Everything was fine until an hour ago. Service was very slow. Then tried to get on Netflix on my tv and it does not load. Checked my network status and he said connected to the router but not the Internet. Tried unplugging everything, wait and then plug upwards. Connect briefly, then lose the connection. Called Windstream. She says that my IP address is in the red. A unplug the router to the modem. She then said IP address went to green so my router is interfering with my modem. She said call netgear. Unable to call because I have a subscription. Is anyone familiar with this problem?

Then your Speedstream works as a router. You can choose one of the two options I provided in my first answer.

  • Not active Ethernet E3200 ports if daisy chained with 2Wire modem/router?

I have a 2Wire 2700G - B DSL modem/4 port router provided by ATT. The WiFi range has a problem so I had a router Linksys E3200 to extend range. I ran the cable Cat5 100 feet across the House and connected the linksys E3200 Cat5 between one of the 4 Ethernet ports on my 2Wire and the Port of 'Internet' from the Linksys 3200. I put in place and seem to have a stronger second network access this router wireless (although it is not a Repeater, I alternate between two wifi networks as I walk home with my iphone).

I plugged in the Linksys E3200 ports WIRED devices wired Ethernet and they are not recognized by my PC as the devices connected to the 2Wire ethernet ports are. My PC is plugged into the port of 2Wire as well.

How can I activate the 4 ethernet ports on the 3200 to be additional ports to my home network as the 4 on the 2Wire?

Can I create an Airport Extreme (current generation) network of roaming with a cable modem/router xfinity manufactured by Cisco (DPC3939 to be exact)?

Yes, if the Airport Extreme will be connected to the Cisco DPC3939 back using wired Ethernet wired, permanent.

The modem-router Cisco/Xfinity put into bridge mode?

No. I you have done this, the Cisco/Xfinity device would only act as a simple modem... so it would not be a wireless service to all.

A note of caution here... the support document you are referencing... Wi - Fi base stations: install and configure a roaming network (802.11 a/b/g/n)... use the examples that are long outdated does not follow with the versions present on a Mac AirPort Utility or iPhone/iPad.

There are some good general information in the document.

  • LaserJet 4 Plus: can I use my DSL modem/router for my LaserJet 4 Plus a network printer home?

My LaserJet 4 Plus was connected to my old XP computer with a parallel port cable (?).  Can I make this printer to my Windows 7 and Windows 10 computers using ethernet cable port to connect it to my ADSL modem/router?  I tried to make the connection, but other computers can't 'see '.  This printer has been used as a network printer in an office environment.  I see an IP address when I print a test page, but I am unable to ping this address of my Windows 10 computer when I have the printer connected to my modem/router.  What should I do to make this visible printer?  Is there a way to check the IP address on the test page is still topical to the printer?  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you very much to clear up the mystery as to why the reset cold was not change the IP address and why I was not able to see the MIO menu!  Thank you for the suggestion to replace the card with a card HP from ebay.

  • A100-306 & office via Modem/Router wireless connection: access denied

I'm trying to file/printer sharing between my laptop A100-306 and office units.
I used the Windows Wizard to create the internet/LAN connection.

It has been a success with the connection internet (via Belkin 54 g Wireless Modem/Router), but my "Troarn" LAN does not seem to be recognized by the laptop.
When I query, on the laptop, My Network places/computers view of the Working Group, the page is white!

But when I question, the office, My Network places/View workgroup computers, computers are displayed. If I try, on the desktop, for connection access is denied.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Hello

-Check if you have disabled the firewall on the laptop.

-Be sure that each computer is placed in the same working group.

    -Check the TCP/IP protocol settings.
If a computer has the IP 168.192.50.1 the other should for example has 168.192.50.2 and so on.

-If you want access to all records, you must set the rights for sharing this folder.

  • Modem router Wireless N upgrade?

I have a Linksys BEFCMU10 ver.2 modem which has served us for about 8 years.  I've recently updated our wireless n router, but have seen no improvement in the coverage area or speed.  The seller in Microcenter told me that my current modem was fine, but I wonder if I need to improve my modem to take advantage of the N WiFi feature.  Another thing, I remember when the tech our cable connected to the modem, it added a 10/100 switch.  Can it be purchased?  The research I did on the forums, it seems that I need a compatible 10/100/1000 switch for the gigabit speed.

I apologize for the basic questions, but I tell myself that if I want to learn I have well start somewhere

    Thank you!

It is not question of cause I don't think you have 100Mpbs subscription from your ISP. This modem is good for home use. You will get your your router Wireless N speed and that's only within your local network.

  • Linksys makes a Combo of Modem/Router Wireless N cable

Does Linksys router wireless n gateway, a combination router and cable modem?

Currently I have the unit combined for wireless g, but upgrade to wireless-n.

    Thank you!

I think at the moment that doesn't sell Linksys 802.11n gateways.

I generally recommend not getting the combined devices, but better to get two separate devices, a simple modem and a wireless router.

    1. you have a far greater choice of products for the router, and they are usually less expensive.

    2. in the event of the death of the router you can still have internet via the modem directly. If the combined unit dies, you are in offline mode.

    3. less functions in a more simple design makes the device and averages more stable and more reliable devices.

    4. you can replace a device at any point. For example, if you pass the ADSL or FTTH cable you can simple replace the modem. You may need to change the configuration on the router but other internet connection so that you can keep the router. Similarly, if two years from now, you want to get the router new generation wireless you can continue to use your modem (if it is still suitable for your internet speed)

  • With the help of transmitter USB for keyboard and wireless mouse 3000 in Vista

a friend already has the Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000

and just purchased the Wireless Keyboard 3000 .

They both work w / USB 2.4 GHz transceivers, and they do not work OK using both of the receivers that accompanies the individual purchases.

I was wondering if it is possible to use a single USB transceiver for both devices instead of two... hoped that this would be the case because they are the two series "3000" operating in the same band.

Some hoped it would all just automatically connect, but no luck.  I can force it to use a two-way radio?

Thanks for any help / suggestions

    * original title - use Transceiver even for (2.4 GHz) wireless KB & mouse that were purchased separately? *

    Hi moonstruck67,

We cannot have the same transmitter/receiver for two wireless devices because it is not supported.

You need to do the same with wireless Bluetooth technology.

However, if you want to force the installation, try the following steps:

    i. Click Start

II. Type in devices and printers

    III. right-click on the transmitter/receiver

IV. If you have the opportunity to connect or sweeping, try the option and check if that helps.

What you're talking about is called Windows Internet connection sharing.  There are a lot of 'how to' sites which can be found using Google.  Here's one from Microsoft:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306126

In order to have more computers to share the connection, you must connect a switch (or hub) to the computer 'host' and then other computers to connect to the switch. http://www.Newegg.com/store/subcategory.aspx?subcategory=30&name=switches&order=price

I agree with Brian, however.  You would be better off adding features wireless to other computers.  In this way, they will be able to connect even if the 'main' computer (one that connects currently) is off.

  • Compatibility of BT with Nighthawk modem router D7000

    Hi all, looking for help.

Been on Google for the better part of 4 hours, at PC World and on the phone to Sky and BT.

Long story short is that I have been fucked by Sky. Then cancelled and now the day 14 expect BT broadband.

My new purchase of the D7000 Nighthawk NETGEAR will be compatible directly from the telephone via the DSL filter Jack?

Sky said that flat purely and simply that they do not support the 3 devices. So don't give me the IP username or password. But BT said they do. If my router modem of nighthawk will work as soon as the signal passes from sky to BT?

Please help a total noob. I want to know if I would return my Nighthawk if it doesn't work, and just use the standard BT hub?

    Kindest regards

    New owner of Nighthawk

    In short, Yes.

Just make sure that you run internet set up the thing again through the log from netgear, and you'll be ready to go.
