RV042 configuration

Hello

can someone help me to config router rv042, who can use a public ip and private IP range address, both.

I apologize if I do not understand your question correctly. Public IPs can be assigned to the interfaces labelled "Internet" and "Internet / DMZ". You can assign IP addresses for the interfaces labelled 1-4.

  • Replacement for an AM200/RV042 configuration?

My trusty AM200 modem died and it apears it is no longer available.  I thought that the AM300 looked ok but I can't one of these no more, at least not in Europe.

I have it used to power the internet to my RV042 and then on my WRVS4400 and a few of WRT54GL and it was awesome.  It is difficult to try to find a replacement.  I tried a D - Link DSL-320 b, because it resembled a similar product, but it does not work.  In the United Kingdom, the modem needs to do all so we only PPPoA authentication.  The D-Link will do but if DHCP is activated it automatically falls in half-bridge mode but the RV042 won't work with it in this mode.  I used my AM200 half-bridge, just for try earlier but did not like the fact, became invisible on the network, so it could not be easily given but I don't know how it should work.  The DSL-320 with disabled DHCP does not give the RV042 port WAN IP to MAC cloning should fix it, is not so I am stuffed as they say.  Also, if you Google DSL - 320 b, PPPoA, routers and UK ISP you would not have bought one in the first place.  Fortunately, it was cheap!

My work is about using a Netgear DG834PN with wireless off and DMZ active (with active DHCP and functioning properly to give the RV042 a WAN IP address, but without interfering with the RV042 the DCHP) feeding the WAN port.  It works well but does not give the same speed of line like the AM200.  Also, he loses the lock from time to time and must be restarted so that is a temporary solution.

It doesn't seem to be many products out there, so I'm open to suggestions.

Furthermore, the Forum configuration has changed since my last message for the Linksys one, so if there is a better Forum for this question please suggest what he.  Thank you

    Graeme,

This forum is specific to the Cisco Small Business product range, like the RV042 you.  In the closest Cisco Small Business portfolio, we would have to the modem AM200 ADSL is the Secure Router 520 (SR520), model ADSL (SR520-ADSL-K9).  There is also a wireless version of the router that should be required (SR520W-ADSL-K9).  I'm not familiar with the AM200 personally however the product match nearest you, we in small businesses is the SR520.  To read the the SR520 line sheet, click here!

  • RV042 VPN configuration

I'm looking for help to the RV042 configuration for VPN access to local machines and Win 2008 Server.  History: had problems with remote printers created for customers log into old Linksys RV042 VPN Linksys software.  First Tech exposed server without security, and it had to be removed because he was attacked, but did not print problem.  2nd tech failed to get VPN to work after 1 tech.  3rd tech 4hours and I got the router is a piece of...  I am so on more than 1000 and unable to have a simple router put in place.  The current situation.  New RV042 with the V4.1.1.01 firmware, using the Cisco VPN client 5.0.07.0410, most of the 32-bit machines on network XP, a 64-bit win 7.  My customers do not have access to their data for too long and I need a quick fix.  Willing to pay, just the person to really know what they are doing.  Thanks in advance.  (I hope its ok to offer to hire someone!)

    Mike,

I am sorry to hear that you're having these problems and even more sorry to tell you that you have problems with the client VPN Cisco 5.x because the RV042 does not support this VPN client. Cisco VPN client is an enterprise-level software utility that uses the IPsec protocols to connect. What you should use is Cisco VPN fast. Cisco VPN client authenticates in 2 phases while the RV042 and Cisco Qvpn authenticates in 1 phase. The router doesn't understand just how to manage connections from the Cisco VPN client. I've included a link to the Cisco Qvpn utility below. Hope this helps

  • Setting up VPN - RV042 v3 issues

    Hi guys,.

I just bought a version of Cisco/Linksys RV042 3 and having difficulty getting my Macbook Pro running IPSecuritas to establish a VPN tunnel.

I get a message "Error - IKE - no message should be encrypted" in the journal of connection IPSecuritas. It will keep retrying which results in the same error. Finally, it gives just straight up.

I'm sure that I have the settings on the router and configured in the same way Macbook of VPN end.

Here is a screenshot of the RV042 configuration page. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks:

  • RV042 to RV320 passing

    Hi all

As the title says I spend a RV320 since a RV042.  I want to minimize the downtime of the network and configure the RV320.  Is it possible to display the backup file Mirror.config of the RV042 and be able to create a startup.config file that I was able to load in the RV320?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Jon

    Hello

The RV042 config file is encrypted is not not clear text so we can draw information, as we do not have a tools for this.

Only way is to have access on the two router (WebGUI) so we have visibility to the RV042 configuration and configure with the RV320

    Thank you

  • need help with VPN IPSEC with RV042

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/docs/doc-30883

I enjoy any support for a trial with RV042 VPN IPSec game please.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Bay, if you use a Windows computer, you can use QuickVPN. The only thing to note is the router that you have as the gateway to the RV042. You must define a port forward for all IPsec services be able to overcome the problems with the NAT device.

RV042 configuration is easy, create a name of user and password and that's it. The problem/challenge will get your NAT connection to allow VPN pass.

  • Installation of two - route

I live in a rural area and have the two satellite internet and cellular (mobile broadband) internet, because none are reliable. I connect to technology mobile broadband with a PCMCIA card that is inserted into a Linksys WRT54G Router. Until very recently, I plugged on satellite via a separate router, which meant that I had to switch routers to switch services and one of the two services could use both.

I just bought a router Linksys RV042 double-Wan, hoping to run them simultaneously by satellite and cell phone through the same router and use load balancing. I have the RV042 defined as the router DHCP. DHCP is disabled on the 54G. I changed the IP address of the default 54G to 192.168.1.145, in the sector of the RV042 customer. I connect a LAN on the WRT54G port to a port on the RV042 WAN. No go. The RV042 does not see the 54G. He treats the LAN connection as active, but does not have an IP address.

How can I get the RV042 the 54G, as he would a modem? Any ideas?

It's a bit complicated, so I have it divided into stages.

    IP address settings:

    (1) the value of the port LAN WRT54G 192.168.2.1

    (2) set the RV042 LAN port on 192.168.1.1 [default]

    (3) RV042 WAN1 and WAN2 for obtain an IP automatically

    (4) WRT54G LAN Server DHCP active.

    (5) WRT54G gateway (no RIP) mode

    (6) set RV042 for BACKUP or load balancing mode as you wish

    (7) fill RV042 configuration of DHCP - DNS Server - with 192.168.1.1 or the address of an Open DNS server that is accessible from both of your ISP.

    Connections:

    (1) WRT54 LAN to RV042 WAN2

    (2) RV042 WAN1 to satellite Internet

    (3) PC and any other printer, etc., next to RV042 LAN game consoles.

    Results:

    (1) WRT54G should now be accessible [of LAN] to 192.168.2.1

    2) two providers of Internet services must be accessible without the need to reconfigure the hardware or the LAN IP settings

    (3) RV042 is accessible [LAN] at 192.168.1.1

    (4) all connected to the WRT54G wireless LAN devices will not be able to access the Internet by satellite.

What is the kind of Setup you had in mind?

  • How to configure a RV042 behind a DSL Modem?

I have a router RV042 VPN that I try to use VPN in to my computer at home. My House uses a DSL modem to connect to the Internet. How to configure the ADSL modem to connect the router?

The modem is a gateway and I put this bridge mode and changed the router RV042 to PPPoE (according to your instructions) and now I can able to administer the router RV042 from my work computer and get out to the internet from my computer at home, one more step. Now when I try to VPN using PPTP in it connects then drops out me after about 1 minute of sometimes more sometimes less, but never more than a few minutes. I tried to adjust the MTU on the documentation of support, but that did not help. Any thoughts?

  • How to configure RV042 VPN to use Windows 7 client native IPSec?

The question is in the title, I want to make the Windows client compatible with my RV042 VPN because Shrew Soft VPN fail to tunel after that little time and QuickVPN do not support Windows 7 or a 64-bit version of Windows.

Windows does not have an IPSec client, what they offer is a VPN client that can connect to PPTP, L2TP/IPsec (on IPSec), IKEv2. To connect directly to the router RV that our only option is to connect over PPTP once the PPTP server protocol is enabled on the router. If you have a server located behind the router, you can configure to be an endpoint to one of the above types. Don't know why, Mac and Windows don't have a naked IPSec feature built-in clients.

    Some third-party applications to consider:

    Windows: ShrewSoft IPSec Client

    Mac OS X: IPSecuritas

Both are relative simple to set up and on the routers RV0xx work fantastic and an exellent substitute QVPN. With these applications you set up the tunnel as a group and use the "XP/2000 Microsoft VPN Client ' option." " This option is a bit misleading because it seems to imply that the native VPN client can support IPSec settings, when it referred only that a computer would use this option during its WAN IP address is not always known.

    I hope this helps.

  • RV042 - PAT does not

    Hello

I have access to the different machines behind the RV042 on ports 80 or 443.

Each machine can be paid locally to the private IP address.

So if I read it right, I have to configure UPnP functionality to do the translation, but it does not work:

    HostA TCP 2000 80 192.168.1.50 Activated
    Hood TCP 2002 443 192.168.1.14 Activated
    HostC TCP 2003 443 192.168.1.15 Activated

    Table of UPnP

But I can still connect to HostA on a web browser using " http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2000 ".

I read several topic on this subject, and I do not understand what Miss me.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

I found a post that mentions the RV042 with the only way to convey the different external port internal port is upnp router function. If you were on the right track with the op.

Unfortunately, the same post says that it does not work if Port Forwarding is enabled.

  • RV042 connectivity

    Hello.

I recently flashed my firmware version RV042: 1.3.12.19 - tm

I am now affected intermittently Ithe nternet connectivity issues. Whatever site I visit, it is not uncommon to discover:

    • missing web page elements (e.g. images)
    • long load times

    TROUBLESHOOTING

    So far I have tried:

    • (hard and soft) reboot the RV042 several times
    • connection of different computers (PC/Vista, macBook/OSX) for the RV042
    • change the physical connection to a different port (1-4)
    • reviewing the configuration of the router (currently the installer with a DMZ. For testing purposes, I tried to disable the port DMZ.)

The result is always the same, no change.

    FRAMEWORK

    • the RV042 unit is less than 1 year (bought new)
    • the problems started right now that I have updated the firmware of the device

I'd like to go back to the original version of the firmware: 1.3.12.6.

Everyone knows this?  Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

@ all those who encounter this problem

    SYMPTOMS

For me, I've lived intermittently / randomly:

    > long time for loading web pages

    > missing web page items

    SOLUTION

Router Linksys/Cisco RV042 firmware version 1.3.12.19 - tm, contains an error that prevents it from automatically setting the MTU size.

To correct the problem, I took advice of sk8erboi {thanks sir!} and changed the MTU to auto to manual (1500bytes).  After the change is made, I restarted the whole network (PC, router,...).  It has been about a week since the change, and everything works well again.

    ADDITIONAL NOTES

The Cisco/Linksys documentation incorrectly States that the MTU is set from the menu option next: Firewall > General > MTU

Here you can find the MTU auto/Manual:

Setup > network > WAN connection Type > scroll to the bottom of the page

As already mentioned, I was contacted by two different employees CISCO/Linksys and they made it clear that they will offer no help without a TAC: "I suggest you open a Tac case. You must have a valid contract with Cisco TAC prosecute. »

Given that it's Aussie an easy solution, I'm surprised (and disappointed) that they do not say: "there is a bug, move the router to manual MTU"

    FRAMEWORK

-My RV042 unit is less than 1 year (bought new)

-the questions began at the present time I upgraded the firmware of the device to version 1.3.12.19 - tm

-my router is configured as a WAN with DMZ, in other words, no Dual WAN

  • RV042 Port forwarding stops working when the firewall is turned on

    Hey all,.

I have an on a single WAN RV042 router and internal network. I have configured port forwarding as follows:

    HTTP[TCP/80~80]->10.0.0.6
    HTTPS[TCP/443~443]->10.0.0.6
    IMAP[TCP/143~143]->10.0.0.5
    IMAP SSL[TCP/993~993]->10.0.0.5
    SSL[TCP/587~587]->10.0.0.5 SMTP

Everything works fine when I have the firewall turned OFF. However, when I enable the behavior is erratic. 1 of 10 attempts to connect to ANY port transmitted works. Almost all attempts at expiration time.

Note that this happens even if you only use the default firewall rules (which must be circumvented by the port translation I've read in other posts).

My second try was to create rules to Firewall manually, the substitution of the value default ones. I tried to add source WAN1 rules (where is my connection) to the ONE and UNIQUE IP on each port. Nothing seems to work.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, it's really bugging me. I had to disable the firewall if we can access our servers from outside the office. It shouldn't have to do.

Do you know what I might try?

    Best regards

    Theo

    Hello!

I have correctly configured my VPN gateway Gateway inserting the real IP address on my AG241V2 so no problem, the VPN works.

However, AG241V2 is not on a static IP address if I have implemented a dyndns account and can ping my domain name successfully to get the IP address revised each change. Implemented the RV042 and AG241V2 using the service seem to be a little more difficult.

  • RV042 VPN public ip

    Hello everyone,

I ' v bumping my head again and again with this issue... I need to configure a tunnel ipsec VPN with a service provider, they require that the first negotiating phase vpn ip address is public (which is normal "Local Security Gateway") and the need to address public ip for the second phase ("group of Local Security") it is im having problems on the source of the request service must be a public ip address as well. When I created my tunnel with their configuration. I have no problem to have the tunnel connected.

The problem comes when I have to configure my computer with the public ip address and connect to the RV042 router in order to access the tunnel... So I tried to put a local ip address to my computer lets say 10.1.10.102 and then do a NAT with ip address public xx.xx.xx.37

When I do this i never send packets from my computer (which is a linux server bdw) through the VPN... and if I give the server the xx.xx.xx.37 address public ip with gateway xx.xx.xx.38 also packages do not go anywhere...

mainly the problem is to know how to configure my server or gateway to send traffic to my server through vpn! because the tunnel is UP. (remember that the only way that the service provider will acept the connection is with the public ip address on the bridge and on the group.

OK guys, I just managed to make it work! I just plugged my server on the DMZ port with the public ip address and presto! tour of 1to1 nat!

  • RV042 vpn pass trough droping?

    Hello

I have a Linksys RV042 (defined as a gateway, Firmware Version: 1.3.12.19 - tm) witch I use to balance the load. Two difrent ISP, one in WAN1 defined for ip automaticlly and the other in WAN2 with a static IP address. The two set MTU to 1492.

On WAN2 I configured a VPN tunnel to another site where I have a Zywall 10w, witch works fine without any problems.

In the building, we have about 30 computers. Some of them use software that works through a vpn connection. This vpn connects ok until a point when juicing it immediately and it does not connect at least that I reboot the Linksys.

The newspaper does not say enithing.

I discovered that when I change the MTU or renew the IP address of the connection drop.

Is that it must do something with load balancing?

    It is out of memory?

Discount to zero might help but you must reconfigure everything.

    reflash the firmware.

    HOEP that helps.
