RV320 as a switch

Is it possible to use the RV320 as a switch?  I need a switch for a network segment (same subnet) and have a unused RV320 I could use.  What is the best way to do it?  I was wondering if the WAN port is a dynamic IP, I can put it in router mode and just connect the other devices on the LAN ports and it would work?

Hello

I wanted to just contact with you and find out if you could try my suggestion and if it worked.

Please let us know.

  • No internet with SG300 and RV320

    Hello

Kind of a number is double.

I currently have a SG300 L3 mode and a RV320 router. My original thought was to have the L2 switch and have the handle RV320 routing, DHCP, and DNS. I was told by some of my colleagues that I should have the L3 switch manages the Routing and use the RV320 just at the gates of the internet with firewall/NAT. The problem I have now is, according to the Administrator's guide, the RV320 must be in gateway mode since it will be the device actually connected to the internet... Problem is that ping outside the internet does not work, DNS relay seems to work, but nothing else. How are the packages supposed to get out if the router has not a '. '. 1"address. In addition, one-to-one NAT and PAT is not enabled, is NAT works not at all?

I put virtual local networks in place in the RV320 and roads seem to be there. What I am doing wrong? I'm about to give up and return to the L2 mode on the switch.

Also, I had to give the DHCP responsibility towards the SG300 as the RV320 handed himself a default gateway '.» 60"and not the". " 1 "the SG300. What is the problem with that? I want to use RV320 as my DHCP/DNS box, but that seems to be easier said than done.

    SG300:

    VLAN104

    VLAN105

    192.168.4.1

    192.169.5.1

    RV320:

    VLAN104

    VLAN105

    192.168.5.60

    192.168.4.60

I don't think its possible to do, but maybe cisco can ring if it is possible or not

  • Router or switch do DHCP?

    Hi all

We are implementing a large number of RV320/325 routers and switches of SG-300 customers.
Usually, we use 2 VLANS. the standard 1 for normal use and 1003 for the guests.

Now, since both can do DHCP and DNS I was wondering what you use and what best practice would be?

Is it interesting to DHCP (or DNS) on the switch instead of the router?

    Hey

Check the forums about these switches of sg, they have serious problems with dhcp does not not on some versions of same fw later

I would look at the RV instead as your dhcp if you do not have a windows or Linux system can do, and who would be more ideal

  • RV320 as SBS2011 router as DHCP server and use IPSEC

    p {margin-bottom: 0.25 cm; line-height: 120% ;}}

Our society is really eager to acquire a VPN Cisco RV320 router to replace our old insecurity only PPTP VPN-router. Before actually buying the router, there are a few questions I'd like to have answered.

In our current setup, we have a SBS2011 standard Server which is used as a DHCP, DNS, Exchange, and SMB server to our network of the company, all the peripheral functions within the same network (192.168.0.1/24).
We would like to add the RV320 to our network to allow access of employees to the corporate network when they are at home or on the road using IPSEC VPN (client site).

In our current configuration us use (or used) a VPN router and VPN clients allowed to acquire an IP address from the PPTP server, these IP addresses have fallen in a range that the DHCP SBS2011 server was free to distribute the. It's quite simple actually

How can we configure the router RV320 so that there will be any conflict between the RV320 router and SBS2011 Server regarding distributing them IP addresses to the VPN IPSEC clients?

Can configure us the RV320 to transfer earlier requests DHCP server SBS2011?  We want all customers (including IPSEC VPN clients so that they enter the same network).
Is it possible to simply using the DHCP-relay option (in the web interface) and entering the IP address of the server SBS2011?

We should disable the DHCP on the router-RV320, or is there another way to continue using the SBS2011 server as the DHCP server, while allowing client-to-site IPSEC VPN for access to our local network?

    Thanks in advance

Hello and thanks for the exam Cisco for your network needs.

First of all, I understand that you are used to working with the PPTP connection and now you want to switch to a more secure IPSec connection.

It's a great idea, but there are a few things to consider:

    1. the RV320 supports the IPSec VPN via the Cisco VPN Client 5.0, you can download it from the site Web of Cisco if after you buy a contract for the router.

The contract will set will cost about $70, depending on where you decide to buy it, but it has several features including 3 years of telephone support 24/7 and next day replacement guarantee for business if the unit doesn't respond, it also allows you to download special software like the Cisco VPN Client.

    2. for client VPN connection, you can not, or you need to try to relay the DHCP request what, whether the router will handle it and he will probably be on a different subnet from your local network, but it will you access to all devices on the network.

3-If you do not want to buy the contract, then you can always use PPTP to the RV320 and it will give you the same access that you are already accustomed.

I hope that was helpful, please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • RV320 static subnet ISP

    Hi guys,.

First of all, I'm a guy from Layer 7 and have only basic knowledge on networks. With this knowledge, I have problems to set up a RV320 (v1.1.1.19 (2014-12-01)) with a static IP subnet of my ISP. I have a 29 subnet with a FritzBox cable as a modem cable simple (no firewall works etc. on the FritzBox). I have an IP address configured for the interface WAN1 (90.xxx.xxx.206). The second is configured as DMZ. Now, I would like to pass the remaining public IP addresses with different ports to dedicated DMZ servers.

    To be more clear:

    Modem cable (90.xxx.xxx.201)

    WAN1 90.xxx.xxx.206 (subnet 90.xxx.xxx.200/29) GW: 90.xxx.xxx.201

    WAN2 / DMZ: 10.0.0.0/24 (different 8-port Switch)

    LAN1: 192.168.1.0/24 (different 24-port Switch)

There is no connection / (other than the RV320) Road between LAN and DMZ (separate interfaces configured on the VMware host computers)

I don't know if I have to configure the RV320 as gateway or router. The current settings are the entrance door. I have attached a small diagram to make things clearer (hopefully).

    Thanks in advance.

  • Failover for the RV320 router configuration

    Hello

I have a RV320 router with a WAN connection to the office LAN and USB 3 G modem for failover.

    However the switch is malfunctioning.

When I unplugged the cable to WAN it works as expected, the 3 G modem take longer after a few seconds.

But when I have trouble with connection overseas, WAN is still in place and the router is not switch to the 3 G modem.

Is it possible to configure the router so that regularly ping a specific IP address, and if the ping command fails, he move to the 3G connection?

    Thank you.

The parameter you need is under System Management > Dual WAN

    - Select 1 WAN, then click on modify.

-Under Network Service detection, you can specify an internet host to act as the trigger for failover.

  • RV320 / 325 Dual WAN Question

I am trying to configure these routers to essentially take the voice traffic and have it use one of the two WAN connections as it is the main and any other traffic use the other connection. I would like it so that if a connection doesn't they also switch between them.  I can find a way to separate the traffic but can't seem to find a way to redo the failure as well... Is this possible with one of these routers?

    Thank you

    Stem

    Hi Rod,

The Administrator's guide is a bit unclear on this subject, so I install a RV320 here in my lab just to confirm.

Whenever you setup, if the Wan, it is bound to a binding protocol disconnects connections are switched to automotically for WAN replacement and the rear switch when the correct WAN rises again.

So you should be able to configure the two WAN, then highlight the load balance with appropriate traffic related to what WAN you want to use, and they are toggled if/when one of the WAN drops.

Let me know if you need more information,

  • RV320 WAN & LAN limitations

    Hello

I would get a few useful claryfication, (new to this dev).

1 WAN interface: supported ports UNTAG mode only, but happening tags from/to other devices, intermediary?

2 port LAN: is there a way to configure LAG or just clean up STP redundancy on two LAN ports that are connected to two separate Cisco switches (themselves configuration with an OFFSET?)  The same subnet or VLAN on both ports of eth rv320?

I'm trying to get a redundancy/failover LAN ports wil b/c router can be used with redundant switches.

    Andrew

    Hello

1 WAN interface supports UNTAG mode only. This means that packets from LAN to WAN will be natted as not tagged. Packets arriving on the WAN port should not be tagged, or get

    2. LAN ports - not LAG and STP support

    Kind regards

  • Home network and multiple switches

Hi, I put to level my small business network that ran from ports on my Cisco SG100-24 switch. I bought another SG100-24 who will give me the required ports. My question is how best to connect them.

I am currently using modem from my ISP to a router Cisco RV320 24 / first SG100. I see two options a obvious here being just string them or simply each connect to the router as more of an approach to the tree. I also have a 8 switch (SG200-08) port, but not sure that I need more with the new switch 24 ports so it's a "Smart Switch".  I guess I am curious to know if there is any advantage to use mini-GBIC combo ports (with or without having to buy the modules) or simply to browse the two switches of the RV320.  I also use a WAP 4410 so my current pan is as follows:

    1. Port RV320 1-> SG100-24 #1
    2. Port RV320 2-> SG100-24 #2
    3. Port 3 of RV320-> WAP4410N
    4. RV320 4-> server port

I'd appreciate thoughts and suggestions, in particular with regard to the combo Mini GBIC ports.

    Hi Jason,

There are a few ways to accomplish the same thing.

    1. you can, as Mike has suggested to continue the physical isolation and each of the SG100 place switches VLAN different interconnected via a RV320 router.

    2. If you need more ports for one of VLAN perhaps physical isolation is not possible, then you may need to add SG200-08. You can try to disable some settings that can improve performance, such as Hello, Smartports macro, even STP and Green Ethernet.

I hope this helps a little.

  • Buzz of noise in the tempo switch

My song has 4 different tempos. Every time that happens, occurs a humming noise. If I get all tracks FX behind it disappears. How can I keep the delay, but not the buzz?

    Thank you y´all.

Use automation for on/off switch of the delays to and after each change of tempo.

If that kills too late in the face of that time, and then introduce a Gain ahead of every delay, automate the Gain to cut admission to the delay when changing the tempo. Who will cut the whole track, however.
