Satellite 1410-303 - CPU upgrade options / tests

Hello

Sometimes I have a really rather old satellite S1410-303, which sports a * Celeron processor 1.5 ghz (256 k /400FSB). *

As I have the latest Bios installed (v1.40 / 03 Sept), I'm curious to know if it would be possible to switch to a Celeron faster, released around this time. I am aware that the CPU should match some criteria, even 256 k of cache / FSB / Northwood arch etc and I was wondering if an update to a Celeron SL75T might work?

The SL75T is a Celeron 2.5 ghz processor, it's a reasonable bump in speed. Sockets correspond to @478 / mPPGA too.
The only thing maybe the draw the fate/energy are higher than the amounts

Any thoughts?

I am aware this Forum * an Italian guy tried putting a pentium 4 base FSB CPU @400 2.0 ghz in the same laptop computer and it didn't work *. So it seems Celeron only, probably 128 / 256 k cache according to.

Anyone have a list of definitive of what the BIOS v1.40 supports?

Thank you, john

Eh, it's very old piece of hardware, and it is not easy to pick up some info on this.
What I found is the info the 1410 has been delivered with different processors Mobile Intel Celeron:
1.6 GHz (1.45volts)
1.7 GHz (1.45volts)
1.8 GHz (1.45volts)

Then maybe you can check if you can find a faster clocked at 1.8 GHz and update.

Sorry, but everything what s that I can write about it.

    Hello

Have you installed the same CPU than before, or have you installed a different CPU?

I checked the manual of the Satellite 1410 and he normally equipped with an Intel Celeron CPU processor and in my opinion, it is the reason why it doesn't work.
Upgrading the CPU is not being official and it seems that the motherboard and BIOS don't support this CPU.

  • I want to install the new HDD for Satellite 1410 303

Can I install the MK8032GAX HARD disk (80 GB Toshiba 2.5 "IDE, 5400 RPM, 16 MB) on my Toshiba Satellite 1410 303? BIOS will detect it?

Unfortunately there no document on this subject because the HARD drive upgrade is dealer so-called option, and because of this, there is no specific info on the upgrade of the HARD drive. According to the specifications of the laptop, this laptop model comes with 20 GB of HARD drive.

I'm sure you can use 40 or 60 GB without any problems. About 80 GB I won't speculate, but maybe someone has already tested and will post here in the next few days.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite 1410-303: black vertical banner on the far right of the screen

    Hi all

I had to format my Satellite 1410 303, and then I added also 256 MB of RAM so the total is now 512 MB. It works fine but the problem is that now I have a black vertical bar, which covers about one inch from the far right of the screen and when you move the mouse it the "offsets" to the right, but the black bar monitor remains in place. Very annoying.

Also, since I formatted the laptop, I do not have the controls in Toshiba or utility, so I can't change the width of the screen, or perform any other work related operations.

    Your help is very appreciated.

As a first step, it will be interesting to know something about the pre-installed OS and drivers. I assume that you used your own CD of facilities and the recovery media not original. Am I right about that?

  • Satellite P200-1I4 - CPU upgrade because of virtualization

    Hello!
I have Satellite P200-1I4 and I need Intel CPU virtualization technology, but T2370 does not support. Is it possible to change as T7300 CPU or other with virtualization?

I know, Toshiba does not support upgrades and so forth... I read the FAQ on the change of CPU, but I need options for my laptop!

    Thank you!
    JA? NIS

    Hello

The first point is that CPU upgrade is always risky, because I think that no one can say if the new processor will be supported the mainbaord, BIOS and chipset.
The hardware installed on your laptop works with preinstalled CPU but not with the other s CPU.

The next point is not all laptops have virtualization and the BIOS must also support this. So I guess that your BIOS doesn't have such an option and that means that you cannot use virtualization even if you have a processor that supports this.

  • Satellite M60 - issue CPU upgrade

    Hello out there!

    I am a happy owner of a Satellite M60.
I recently installed Win7 pro and nothing works well.

I was offered a new processor Intel M770 and
now, I would like to hear if anyone has any experience changin processor in a laptop.

The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

If I swap the processors, my laptop will get faster, or it will explode like a hurricane and disappear into a smokecloud?

    Best regards
    Mogens

    > The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

Well, generally the CPU upgrade is a really complicated because of the compatibility of the BIOS history, but I think you have a good chance to get the laptop working with new CPU M770. It belongs to the same family of CPU as the old CPU and chipsets support is the same.
In addition, I think that this laptop overheating not using this CPU of course there is more the dissipation of heat thanks to the fastest performance, but I think that the cooling modules should handle this

Of course, it s just my opinion personal and everything what you would do is at your own risk.

    Good luck

Is it possible to upgrade the Satellite Pro A10 CPU? What processors are supported?

    Hello

Usually the CPU upgrade is not possible on laptops because of several reasons.
But as far as I know that this camera was supplied with three different processors:
    Intel Celeron P4 - M (Mobile) 2.0 GHz, 2.2 GHz and 2.4 GHz
Well, I put t know if the CPU was only connected or soldered onto the motherboard.

However, it s not advisable to change the CPU. It is possible that after CPU change the laptop overheating for example.

    Hello

Theoretically, the new Intel Pentium M Processor 765 2.10 GHz should be compatible with the motherboard, but the fact is that nobody can say it the laptop would be working properly after this upgrade.

One of the main problems could be the heat dissipation. Stronger CPU develops more heat, and this may affect the functionality of the laptop.
In addition the BIOS was not configured for other processors so it could be a problem.

Last but not least as mentioned in the article of Toshiba, the upgrade of the CPU is not supported. So everything can be done simply at your peril!
