Satellite A200-1If - BIOS (RTC) battery this time need

Someone at - it a the bios battery (RTC) spare parts for this motherboard. I just talked to Toshiba - who told me to talk to "Topaz", who told

"It is part of the motherboard, and we cannot get hold of the components to the motherboard. A new motherboard will cost £160. This is the best we can do '

The battery would cost no more than £3.
Anyone got a please?

Hello

Maybe it s enough if the RTC battery is charged?
You can charge the battery in the machine for several hours.

Here's an interesting document on this subject:

  • Satellite A200-1BW - BIOS issue

I have the above laptop downgraded to purchase Vista Ultimate to WXP SR2, but I'll have questions, get the BIOS to recognize that there is 4 GB of RAM in there. He thinks that there is 3GB.

Two ram chips have been checked and they are pairs of 2 GB.
The version of the BIOS that is running is 1.4.

The 3 questions I have are:

    1. What is the portable version, should I be selection when choosing my laptop to look for a BIOS upgrade, I guess it's the (Satellite A200 (PSAEC) as is the farm that need the code of the laptop on the back, I don't see that the A200-1BW listed anywhere on your site. It is an upgrade of the BIOS so I want to make sure that I applied the correct version.

    2. what BIOS should I be executed, because the BIOS in Vista is currently 1.8 and the BIOS XP currently 5.8, it seems that my laptop is running the wrong version of the BIOS for my operating system.

3 upgrades new BIOS (if any) does the problem of 3 to 4 GB?

Note: It is not that memory does not appear in Windows XP Home edition, it's the BIOS screen post indicating that he has only 3 GB on the machine when there are actually 4GB

    Thanks in advance
    Tony

With regard to the number of question

    (1) the serial number of the laptop is found at the bottom of the unit. Check the label. I found the info also, that the A200-1BW would belong to the PSAECE series.

    (2) If you are using the operating system XP on this laptop you must update the BIOS to the XP version. If you want to use Vista, updated the BIOS to the version of Vista.

    (3) usually after the BIOS update the 4 GB of memory should be recognized.
Note _But; _ the version of Vista 32 bit will always be use only 3 GB of RAM due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS!

    Best regards

  • Satellite A200 hangs or restarts at any time

    Hello

I am facing problem with my Toshiba Satellite A200 since last week. The problem, I noticed even is mentioned below in steps:

    1. start & freezes on the screen at any time or logon
2 restart at any time without any notification as blue screen or any message dumping

    Explanation in detail:

As I start my laptop it can freeze or restart at any moment after the Startup logo. This has happened several times, I noticed. If it freezes, after waiting for half an hour, if it does not, restart any movement of the mouse, no appeal of taskmgr, etc. it completely freezes. Then I made him stop forcing for example, by pressing the power button / stop for a long time.

    * Things to note here: this happens when the power adapter is connected *.

Same thing repeated here with AC not plugged (on battery), the system works absolutely perfect until that hard battery backup with permitted load on the processor and any diet Plan. Tested also on AC only (battery does not exist) but same results, no resolution.

As soon as AC is plugged the laptop is ready to freeze or reboot anytime * and the time varies between instant to max 45 minutes I noticed several times.

Second thing to note is that if I boot in SafeMode it works absolutely fine with & without plugged AC.

    * Measures taken to resolve: *.

    * High temperature set: *.
I also cleaned the heatsink fan heat + metal bands filter in front of the FAN to avoid high temperatures, but same results, no resolution.

    * OS Installation costs: *.
I installed a clean copy of the OS, but no effect not found, same results, no resolution

    * AC adapter power supply check & replacement: *.
I checked the output of the AC adapter / CC it 19.7V DC no load. I borrowed a new AC adapter with my cousin with the same model, but the same results, no resolution.

    * AC adapter Socket change: *.
To avoid the bad food, but the same results, no resolution.

    * BIOS: *.
Settings to change the frequency of the dynamics processor to still weak & 2nd Core Disabled, same results, no resolution.

After searching a solution on various sites, I tried several ways but without success.

Finally worked for me is to start in "SafeMode-> Device Manager-> disabled both processors ' & restarted in normal mode, everything works fine.

    * Question: *.
1 but what is the real fault I want to know who?
    2. How safe to operate with disabled processors?
    3. What is the effect of it on the laptop?
    4. it's the real solution?

Please give me the real solution.

    Thank you
    Hemant

    Hi mate

The sounds of history for me really weird I mean disabling processors in Device Manager
Is this laptop must not freeze and must restart not anytime if that's the case then something must be wrong with the software or hardware.
Because you installed the OS and the problem is still available, I guess something must be wrong with the material; Perhaps the mother or the CPU itself

It is difficult to say what could be wrong, but it seems like material is affected

  • Satellite C50-B-19V - RTC battery low

    Hi all

    I ask your help.

    I have 15-inch Toshiba Satellite C50-B-19V laptop.
    It is 2 years old.

I get RTC battery low message the laptop turned OFF for awhile (without adapter).
When I turn it on, I have to re - set the Date and time in the BIOS.

So I fully recharge via an adapter, and every time I put it to sleep the clock stops just when I put on standby.
So if I put for example standby at 10:00 on March 2, 2016, and I turn it on at 12:00 on March 2, 2016, the clock says 10:00 and March 2, 2016 (the date is not lost).

Laptop works well when on battery (without adapter).
I have WIN 8 is installed.

RTC battery low message is displayed after the laptop is off (no adapter) for a while... (a few days).

Above mentioned laptop is NOT a pile of separate clock when back cover is removed (no battery is visible on the motherboard)...

What to do in this case?

    Waiting for your response.
    Thank you very much!
    Ivan

I would say that the RTC is low and that maybe it's the other side of the motherboard. Find and download the manual for your machine. All PCs have batteries for the CCF and to keep some of the BIOS settings. If it is not under an agreement of service of any kind, take it to a technician, you trust and let check. Otherwise repair by the company with which you have permission. The battery will be there somewhere. They can be painted, I saw that with some motherboards desktop.

  • Satellite L350D - 11O PSLE8E - RTC battery seems to be empty

    Hello

    my laptop:

    Satellite L350D-11O
    model-nr: PSLE8E-01J003GR

    The * bios-battery * seems * empty * (partwise clock stops working)

    -What battery do I need?
    - Can I replace it myself?

    Thanks for the help!

    Kind regards

    Christian Knuf

    Hello

You cannot replace the battery yourself as the disassembly of the laptop is very delicate.
This could damage other parts while trying to disassemble the laptop.

First of all, you know that you can charge the battery of the CCF (BIOS).
To do this you need to connect the laptop to the power adapter and need to run Notepad for over 24 hours.

After that the RTC battery needs to be recharged again.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A200 works fine on battery but hangs when adding power supply.

    Hello
I'm having a problem with my Satellite A200. I have no problem when I charge the battery and just run the battery, however, as soon as I plug in the adapter and I have problems.

The machine seems to freeze and the screen has different colours in the lines and blocks.
I bought a new adapter, but same problem persists.

I think that this is without a doubt for professionals and I recommend you to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider.
Explain the situation and let it check your laptop.

The A200 is older model laptop and I can't imagine you have been faced with a question described the first day so I'm afraid that there must be some hardware problem and to fix it you need professional help m.

    Thank you very much

    Hi fear_angel,

Well, I think in this case you can do anything and I would not try this BIOS recovery program. There is no formal way and you could destroy most or the entire module ROM.

You must contact an authorized assistance service provider. Technicians can try to reflash the ROM module I'm sure they will help you as much as possible.

    Good luck! :)

  • Re: Satellite A200-1FL: BIOS asking me a password that I don't know

    Hello world

Last week was a bad BIOS update and my laptop has not begun. I managed to fix it with the crisis recovery disk and the "BIOS update" of the toshiba support web http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/eula/info_eng2.asp for Toshiba Satellite A200 PSAE6E, Windows Vista.

My problem now is that BIOS and system start-up or disk, after that the BIOS to ask me a password that I don't know because I had a different password for the BIOS and no for the starting System.

Anyone who would these passwords? I tried a few default passwords found in internet with no luck

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I think that if someone can really help with this password or something like that in this forum. You should contact ASP (SAV).

  • Satellite A200 - 1 M 8 - battery loose quickly

    Hello

    Please I need help... I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 1 m 8.
Operating system: Windows XP Pro SP3.

I noticed that the wireless connection, working the laptop on battery, drops and sometimes connects but connect to normal power supply it is easy

I have looked for similar issues and found that Intel for wireless devices does this to save battery. I followed the instructions I found and Wi - Fi worked well by increasing the management of feeding in device settings Wi - Fi, but the main problem is when I increase the power, the laptop computer on batteries, the computer apparently management to lose battery power quickly.

Should I change the defective part by the manufacturer or what to do...?

    Thank you.

    Hello

As you know the power consumption is based on the use of the laptop and also the power settings. I put t know what exactly do you do when your laptop works with battery power, but it will be interesting to know how long you can only use it to batteries.

  • Satellite A200-23U - Bios Update need for XP

    Hello!

Where can I find the update of the BIOS for this laptop for Windows XP?

    Thank you.

Seems that European Toshiba driver page provides a BIOS for the Vista operating system and the BISO for XP is not available or do not exist.

Have you tried to install XP without updating the BIOS?

I think this should be possible and the update of the BIOS would not be necessary at this time.

  • Satellite A200-1If does not start after the BIOS update

    Hello

It is my first time on the forum posting, I hope someone can help me.
I recently downloaded the latest update of the Bios (bios - 20090121132526.zip) for my laptop. I ran the bios Setup, after the update it restarted my laptop, but then he went to a black screen and no longer start.
When I press the power button only power led lights, fans begin to turn and the DVD - rom turns and stops and the screen is blank.
I am running Vista Home premium 32-bit.

Can anyone provide a solution on what I can do to fix this?

    Was the system standby standby/extended/recovery?

Its important to cold starts of the system before and after an update of the BIOS.

You could try to remove one of the modules RAM (change RAM size) and turn on, otherwise the system may need to be sent to an ASP for repair.

  • Any visible change on 2.6 BIOS - Satellite A200-1If

    Hello!

I just have a question if anyone has noticed a difference in performance, autonomy and so on, with the new BIOS reported this month.
I hesitate to put because it was in the last BIOS new after that two weeks has been updated again because of previous bugs - in 3 weeks, or so it had 2 BIOS or even more.

    Thank you very much

PS: Anyone know perchance what this version of bios up-to-date?

    Hello!

Normally the BIOS can not really change performance or battery life.
Before that Toshiba offers a new BIOS it will be tested if it is problems or something else.

Do you have problems with your laptop?
Remember: never touch a running system ;)

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200 BSOD would be the first time that I ever ran Win Update

    Hi all

I have a Satellite Pro A200 running professional Vista that I bought on October 11, 2007. Win Update never ran the first time, had the laptop then BSOD. I recovered using the recovery CD, and since then, I've left Win Update turned off.

Someone else with a similar machine did this happen to them?

Does anyone know what causes this?

What would be the Toshiba Support policy on this?

    Thank you all.

What is the hex code of BSOD? (The number of 0x000000xx)

I am looking this BSOD number to www.microsoft.com for a solution.

Also update the BIOS of the laptop. An update of the BIOS can perform magic sometimes :)

  • Satellite A200-1AD: Bios password set after the start of the USB

    Hello

I have an A200-1AD bought in August 2007.
My BIOS password has been set after that I booted up with a non bootable USB key into it.
The date has been reset to 01/01/2005.

    Anyone have this problem before?
As far as I know that there is no virus on USB key or a laptop.

I can start my laptop but cannot get into the bios because of the question of password.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Welcome them

    Hey Buddy

To be honest I have no idea why this password has been defined after using non bootable USB flash drive. For me it s not explainable

However, the bad news is that you will need to contact the ASP in your country to get rid of this password.
Is BIOS password can be removed by ASP and so the ASP help is needed.

    Welcome them
