Satellite C650 won't turn on / boot (black screen only)

I am having trouble with my year old Satellite C650. In fact, when I go to turn it on it just won't. The power led on the front of the laptop turns on and the fan starts whirring (only to stop a few seconds later), but there is no change to the screen. I tried to take out the battery, restart, connect, disconnect - basically everything I can think of, but nothing made a difference.

Can anyone think a possible solution? I really hope this isn't a hardware problem, but I have a horrible feeling that it looks like this...

Thank you!

I'm scared of m its hardware problem.
My advice would not apply to a Toshiba service provider in your country that would check the parts.
Your laptop doesn't seem to be old so maybe the warranty is still valid and the fix could be done free of charge.

Problem: when I try to turn on the computer I see the Toshiba screen and then a black screen with a underscore that blinks several times then stops, and the computer is blocked like that. The fan seems to be working. I can't go to mode without failure or boot options, even if I press f8 or f12 nonstop.

Last time I started mode, I was stuck on the screen but the connection keyboard touchpad did not work and I couldn't stop. After that I have the strength of closing down and try to restart stuck like that. No beeps or anything like that.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Computer won't turn on completely (black screen with blinking cursor) after installing windows updates

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 86

Update definition for Windows Defender - KB915597 (definition 1.63.1021.0)

Following this installation, the display resolution has been reset to be very low.  When you try to reset the resolution, I was alerted to a driver problem, so tried installing this in vain (below error code)

Intel Corporation - display - Intel (r) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family

    Error details: Code 800703E3

After that, he went to sleep the computer, but was unable to select 'sleep' (it is grayed out) but the stop keys option indicates that the updates were ready to install so I stop thinking which may help.  It was last night.  This morning, the computer was on, seen the screen DELL, then a black screen with flashing white cursor in the upper left corner.  I tried ctrl-alt-del, got the dell screen appears again, then black screen.  I tried ctrl-alt-del, thinking I could try one of the options key F at this time, but he won't even go to this point, the dell blank screen just screen.

Any ideas would be very appreciated!  It is the second major problem that I had recently after updates vista install (the last time I temporarily lost access to all my files, because they were placed under a temporary user account that had been created!)

It is likely that the graphics card is broken or that the driver no longer appropriate?

Thank you for your time in advance!

    Greetings

    Carpet

Graphics card problem may be possible but in this case the POST (power on self test) would not be passed, and in my opinion, it is not possible to access the BIOS.

    However, it's just a theory
Try to start Notepad using some Live CD like Linux

I would also recommend to start the advanced boot menu. (by pressing F8) and choose repair my computer option.
    Then select Toshiba HDD recovery

This option would be to recover the laptop back to factory settings.

  • C355 all-in-One won't boot black screen

    Hi all

I have a C355 all-in-one who had a serious problem lately. When I try to turn on the pc with the power button, it makes the whirring sound, but the screen is black and it won't turn. The power button stays on and sounds like it starts up but the screen remains black and does not turn.

I tried unplugging all USBs thinking it could be the conflict with the other drivers, but it does not work. It usually takes 20 + attempts after pressing the power button on and off with no screen until the PC actually turns. It is extremely frustrating, sometimes over an hour before I can get the computer on! I made sure that all drivers are up-to-date, and 8.1 windows is fully updated. I don't know what else to do to try to solve this problem. This PC is not under warranty but its still relatively new. I wouldn't have to spend money on another computer for this reason. If anyone has had this problem or have any suggestions to try to fix? Thank you.

I ended up taking the all-in-one to a repairman. The cpu has been damaged from overheating. They said it was a common problem with all-in-one which have an amd cpu and warned me to stick in the future equipped with Intel processors. The cost of the repair was too expensive for my cheap all-in-one so I got the hard drive recovered and let it go!

  • Satellite A300 won't any device boot

I have an A300 which do not seem to boot from any device.

When I start it up, I see the splash screen and can get into the BIOS or boot select.
I tried the priority of boot setting for HDD & CD and also chosen to start with the product in the player recovery CD.

However, as soon as it gets past the splash screen I'm just presented with a black screen Uni.
I hear a little activity of CD and the light flashes one or two times but nothing.

Normally, I would expect a prompt to press a key to boot from the CD-ROM.
I tried pressing the button anyway, but this seems to result in a beep by default.

What is the graphics card on the motherboard?

    Hello

    > Could it be the graphics card on the motherboard?

I think it is no matter whether the issue would be linked to the mobo or GPU in both cases, the motherboard needs to be replaced. But if you the region can access the BIOS then the mobo could not be allowed.
But, generally speaking, it sounds like serious hardware problem and I think that it s laptop computer technician time.

In any case, have you tried to boot from different CDs? I mean Linux Live CD or Windows PartBE?

  • Satellite P305-S8820 won't start no-POST 'BLACK SCREEN' will not start up CD

When the HARD drive is connected Vista does not start, regardless of the boot order. Instead, it shows just a black screen with no cursor. Supplied recovery disks will not start. I removed the HARD drive and ran a scan of the disc to see if the drive went wrong, no dice, the disc is good and works fine via usb-sata on another computer.

I inserted just the toshiba recovery disk, without HARD drive, and it starts. I connected the external HARD drive now and vista tries to start BSOD, I tried safe mode, last known, everything, nothing works, all get a BSOD disappearing too fast for me to read.

I searched a dump file on my other computer and was a failure. When the HARD drive is connected via usb vista tries to start and the toshiba cd works now, however, it will not perform a complete installation of factory toshiba it does not find the HARD drive? I'm a windows user and I have years of experience with x 86 programming and windows 32-bit operating systems, but I'm stumped. Bad RAM? Bad Sata? Bad HARD drive? Bad CD/DVD? It is Vista Home premium.

I don't want to reformat and lose all my data "I AM A REAL 'IT' not a silly computer user" no offense to all the others out there but I refuse just "format and forget ' tools used invites to rebuild the BCD and this does not work either and automatic repair does nothing, recovery does not work as it says there is no recovery points I am frustrated beyond words.

Finally, this operating system is just horrible, I was once the 'happy' owner of a copy of Windows ME and it does not give me half of the problems that makes this operating system.

I'm fed up with this, and am half tempted to ask my money for my computer, it might not be the responsibility of the user barely shoot / resolve these problems, they should be addressed before the product was released.

I am at a loss. Help, please.

    Thank you

    Kevin

I'm a bit confused with the info given, but if you can not restore/repair Windows, while you should do is back up your data to another PC using a USB adapter, and then run the recovery on the HARD drive internal in the P305.

You must also update the BIOS.

The BIOS and drivers for older models of laptops are in the area to carry out the download page for the driver (in the product Type click Archive).
But to be honest, that I think that something is wrong with the BIOS EPROM module.
Firstly the laptop must turns on and works properly even if the BIOS isn't up-to-date. In addition, the EPROM module cannot be corrupted in case you do not flash this module using BIOS incorrect or is not compatible.

In my opinion, the issue may be related to any part connected to the motherboard: possible troublemakers could be RAM, CPU, GPU, as well as the motherboard.

I guess you will need extra help laptop computer technician in order to locate the hardware failure.

    Hello

    > My Satellite C660/C6600 fails to load and once it is turned on it goes straight to a blank black screen after screen Toshiba.

Because this means that you can see the Toshiba splash screen at the start then the screen turns white?
You see something on the external monitor? If you didn t test this situation, please do

I don t think that the display is affected, since you can see the Toshiba homepage
Not sure about the GPU but I think is GPU would be affected, then the Toshiba start screen would not be visible too. In your case, it is

    Well, try this work around:
-Remove the battery and AC adapter
-Press the power button / stop along 30 sec
-Bring the two parties together and try to turn on the unit.

You can also check if one of the memory modules may cause this
In this case, you must remove a module and must test the laptop using a module in each slot

  • Desktop computer drive HARD problems, won't load after the splash screen only in black

Hi, I hope someone here can help me. I have HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop I had for nearly 4 years. These last 4-6 months I get questions such as getting the BSOD (usually unmountable_boot_volume) and excessive delay/hanging while working. I was able to fix these with chkdsk and sfc since no virus was detected. But I couldn't make the successful restore points as they always disappear.

But last night I forced him to close due to the hanging again and rebooted, it upward to get "a disk read error has occurred. Press ctrl + alt + del to restart"only to receive the same message again. Not far enough, he won't do a chkdsk or sfc. So I went to use my bootable usb key with a recovery console to run chkdsk, startup repair and sfc. He managed to get through the bios and was able to connect to my computer, but it would not load the office. It's just a black screen with my cursor. Going even in safe mode it will appoint the task bar, but soon, to get an error "windows Explorer has stopped working".

I don't know what to do anymore. It would be great if I can just get into my HARD drive one last time. I've saved most of my files knowing he would die on me, except a few files and just need to run once more to save them. Would appreciate any help, please!

How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

    http://support.Acer.com/

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11; Normally, Acer is Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Satellite S955 starts not to POST and black screen

    Hello

I have a problem with my s955 (14 months). He is not able to start more. When turned on, I hear only the cooling fan spins up and down and nothing more. The last time, it took almost half an hour to work around this failure. When turned on it shows no problem at all. When you stop it is better to pray. It now seems to be missing. After an hour, I see no sign of life except cooling fan activity.

I went through all the stuff mentioned in another forum of Toshiba as turned off, remove the battery, keep and maintain the power button for at least 60 seconds. I even replaced the RTC internal Li - ion, but without success. Because it is not covered by warranty more I opened it. No sign of didn't burn except a suspicious oxidation of some contacts.

I contacted Toshiba Italy (even if it is a U.S. model.) and I expect a possible answer next week. I ran out of the possible solution except replacement of mobo. Is there anyone around who has the same problem? Could you please give me a help?
    Thank you and best regards

    Pyder

Hi, not Toshiba Italy news but I found a Toshiba authorized service workshop that may solve this problem. It seems that, beyond other speculations, the problem may be issued by the fuse of power mainboard (read this answer interesting of maxtek73 [http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Batteries-and-Power/My-Toshiba-Satellite-Laptop-Will-Not-Turn-On/m-p/584008#M11147] at the end of the post). It seems reasonable. In fact, keyboard, dvd player, charge battery, hd, and cooling fan are powered by the motherboard. It seems that there is not enough current to pass initial tests before POST. This could explain why the cooling fan trying to run at maximum speed, but he can't. I had to remind that to turn on, no equipment TI push fans at max speed and then slow down to normal speed before entering the POST process. I'll have a conversation with the technician of the workshop and I'll keep you in the loop.
    Best regards

Indeed, after the bios, I have black screen.
If I try to go to the boot menu (f12) I always black screen! What can I do? BIOS version is 1.20.

I have created a disk of crysis with the latest bios (2.10), it seems flahs porperly but upon restarting, I always BIOS 1.20

    sSorry for my bad English

PS I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE RESET THE BIOS WITH THE JUMPER (BECAUSE THEY FORGOT THE PASSWORD).
BEFORE THIS OPERATION, THE NETBOOK WORKED WITHOUT PROBLEMS!

    Hello

    You speak for themselves
What these say that the laptop was already send to ASP?

Have you checked if the video output was not set to external monitor?
Please check if the FN + F5 keys that toggle between internal and external monitor.

If it does not then I would recommend contacting ASP guy that removed the BIOS password I say everything was ok before the BIOS password has been deleted maybe they changed something in the BIOS or BIOS itself

    I wish you good luck

  • Re: Satellite A100-011 does not start, a black screen at the beginning

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-011, which is almost 5-6 years. It suddenly started to behave abnormal.

First of all, I started to get a 1-2 sec black screen when he was running. The screen was on and off occasionally.

After a few days, I could not started upward from my windows xp sp3 operating system. I tried to start in safe mode with networking to see if I had a few spy, virus or something. I ran avast, hijact, ad-aware and some more, but not found anything.

Later, I tried to format my laptop with a xp professional, but this time I can't see any reflection that passes more fun running and a black screen. I just got a black screen at the beginning and it does not start.

I plugged on a television screen, and here I have started. I have re-installed all the drivers and formatted, but all I get is a black screen on my laptop at the beginning.

What should I do now? Do you think I have a problem with my screen of HW or a driver problem with nvidia geforce go 7600? Maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

If you can see the picture on the TV there are a few s laptop display problem. Y at - it some problem connection or display itself.
