Satellite C660-108 - slow response keyboard

The keyboard on my Satellite C660-108 is very slow in response. Some characters are not at all, some only after a short delay. It's very embarrassing when I type text and passwords (!) because I have to double check any type (and 1 / 3 words has spelling mistakes, because of the problem with keyboard)

Is there a way I can troubleshoot what's the problem?

Thank you

Herbert

Hey Buddy,

As you can read in many other threads, you must update the BIOS to get rid of this problem.

Toshiba has already published an article on what you need to do:

I try to install Windows XP Home Edition on a Toshiba Satellite C660-108, without success.

I changed the BIOS disk in "Compatibility" mode (what is the same thing as "Legacy IDE"?) by following the instructions on a Yahoo Answers question on the same issue.

What has improved the situation, in what I now get an error message a few minutes after installing XP said "Starting Windows" instead of immediately after. The error message is the same that I have already received and is as follows:

"A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer...". "Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D663C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).

PS - I'm a mac user and do not have much experience in the use of Windows laptops, so I need instructions spelled out clearly enough if possible.

The error could be related to drive HARD and the setting in the BIOS of the controller...
Probably, you need to install Win XP using SATA AHCI mode and to add the driver SATA as described here:

  • Satellite C660-108 does not start if the USB Bluetooth dongle connected

    Hiya,

I hope you could help me.

I'm having a problem with my dongle bluetooth and satellite c660-108.
It all works perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do whatever I want.

But then when I'm mobile stop and turn it on again it will go if the bluetooth dongle is always in the USB.

I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
I have to turn it off, remove the bluetooth dongle and then turn it back on.
And then windows starts. After that, I put in bluetooth dongle, once again I want to work with her.

It isn't a huge problem, but it is a bit annoying when I have to leave the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows began.
I'm running under win 8.1 but he already had with 8 victory.

    Anyone any ideas?

    > I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
Especially the blinking cursor is displayed because the laptop can not find a boot device.

It seems that the device cannot put on the HARD drive while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you check the boot order in the BIOS.

Put the HARD drive in the first place and the USB boot last device.
Save changes and check if it helps.

  • Satellite C660-108 - fan keeps running

I just bought a Satellite C660-108 and pleasure keeps running all the time. Is this normal?

    Hi Judith_2,

If your laptop computer is in idle mode, it isn't normal that the fan still works. Normally it should start and stop as on other models.
But if you run some background applications such as Internet browser, Antivirus, etc., it may be normal because the CPU causes a lot of heat and it must be cooled to protect it from damage.

Anyway, you can try to change the cooling method in Windows power management. You can choose between a maximum Performance and battery optimized. If you want to reduce, change the value of the latter.
I confirm there is really a difference between the methods of cooling and optimized battery is much quieter.

  • Satellite C660-108 disables unsuspected rotation fan while rose

    Hello

I so laptop Toshiba Satellite C660-108 series.
I don't really know what to do, laptop turns off by itself at any time, the fan starts to spin very strong and fair, he stops, when I try to turn it on again same thing occurs, time is random, sometimes it turns on for 10 seconds, sometimes for hours... Please help technicians in my town don't know what to do...

    Thank you
    Karolis.

I m wondering really that technicians can not help you with this. I mean if they can that help can we do on this virtual path where we can only speculate what may be the problem.
Did you contact Toshiba service provider or an independent PC company?

Problem is that we do not know if your laptop turns off due to high temperatures and overheating of the CPU or there is another reason. At least what you can do about it? Nothing. All you can do is buy compressed air and try to clean it. What else can you do?

What confuses me, is the fact that your laptop turns off after 10 seconds. This must be studied.

  • Satellite C660-108 - Wireless does not work

    Hey everybody,

New to the forum, I had to sign up because of a problem with shame. I would like to apologize in advance because I know nothing about how computers work.

I have a toshiba satellite c660-108, windows 7 OS. Yesterday I was updating it and I used it very well after that I restarted. He stops and went to bed. Today, I turned on and he did a system restore, don't know why. So all went through and then it wouldn't connect to the internet wireless, only ethernet cable (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=69127&tstart=0 - same problem as far as I can tell).

I'm in the middle of my diploma thesis and word does not work now, so I did a full factory restore hoping everything would be ok. This isn't.

Ive tried to download the driver toshiba wireless, just didn't work. It currently downloads Realtek but I'm sure it won't work either.

How to get another wireless network card?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    James

The essential is that you it works again.
    So congratulations. :)

  • Re: Satellite C660 - new slow charge battery

    A few days ago, I bought a new battery (10.8V, 4400mAh) on Amazon (from Batterytec) for my Toshiba Satellite C660-13 q PA3817U-1BRS, 10.8V, 4200mAh.

The problem is that this battery takes approximately 12 hours to charge: it is very very slow!

I've done a complete charge cycle to calibrate and the battery life is 2 hours and 25 minutes, after calibration. With the original toshiba (fault) battery, I never had this problem.

What can I do to solve the problem of the "slow charge"?
    What is a battery fault?
    such behavior is normal?

    Thanks in advance
    IMMA

Have you bought original Toshiba with sticker Toshiba battery or it is another brand (universal battery)?

  • Battery won't charge on Satellite C660-108

I just bought a new C660-108 Satellite as a Christmas gift. The laptop worked fine for a while but then I noticed that the start of Windows 7 icon said that the battery was not supported (even if it has been inserted correctly, the two sliders were in the correct position, the power cable is plugged in and turned on). Of course, when the battery ran down the computer died.

Current situation is that the computer will work very well with the feeder so the removal of the battery (now deceased), but it will not turn on with the battery inserted (if the power cable is plugged or not).

Is this a problem with the battery or laptop?

Before start us discussion please try this.
Remove the battery, start your laptop on mains only and when the operating system is fully loaded, put the battery in place.

Please let us know if the battery is properly recognized and that recharge the battery will start as usual.

  • Satellite C660-1F1-Slow After recovering from DVD and fans constantly running

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1F1 has an i3 processor and I recovered from the recovery disks. A few days later, everything is very slow and the Fans are always at full speed, even at idle and there is no dust when I opened it and I replaced the thermal paste.

    All of the Suggestions.

    Thank you

    Hello

Try to optimize the OS version. Check the startup options and disable all applications that you don't need.
Make sure that all unnecessary applications do not start with the OS. Remove the system from all things, that you don't need.
    Play a little with it.

  • Can I use my Satellite C660 - 2 7 backlit keyboard?

    Hi all

I was wondering if there is such a thing as a backlit keyboard which can be adapted to the Satellite C660 - 2 7, the old one is very easy to remove.

As far as I know you can't do that. Connector for these keyboards is quite different.

  • Satellite C660-23rd - slow performance

Anyone can help solve my current problem with the Satellite C660-23rd?

It is likely the slowest competitor, that I have ever used. To perform any task on this machine has become extremely boring, opening even the internet explore takes at least a minute to load up not to mention the dispute between the tabs.

Is there a simple solution to this frustrating problem? Is it defective?

    Thanks in advance

Are you using the original operating system preinstalled that you got with your laptop?

  • Satellite C660-108 - no internet connection automatic

    I bought a laptop replacement last weekend - a Toshiba C660 - 108 - that gives me a problem.

I can't the computer to connect automatically to the internet router (Orange) because it is unable to connect at the start even if the network is always visible. Then, I need to go upstairs to the router, press the wifi button, and then I can connect. It works fine until it or I lose connection or switch off when I find once again to repeat the process.

We have three other Toshiba laptops in the House who all work with happiness and automatically.

Tried to connect with virus protection disabled and no conflict there is different I think.

Have checked that I have the latest version of the driver and that it.

Have noticed however, that when I put them to the top of the list of networks available in the range, my connection doesn't have a checkbox "Allow to automatically connect" while others do. I checked all properties and the boxes are checked to allow the automatic connection.

When I use my laptop at work it connects to the network automatically without any problem (the work is a router BTConnect).

Spent the week looking for a solution for this on the forums and would be required, if someone can tell me what to do to allow an automatic connection.

New driver update solves questions ;)

  • Satellite C660 is slow - drive 'failure '?

Hello Forum - I hope someone can help.

My children (PC) run a C660-IST (two years). I say "run" - the machine is going at a snail pace. Confession - their father always worked on Apple (I know, I know...) then i@m beating everywhere to try to help them. With success limited.

I found called 'Computer' and he said:

    Hard drives (3)

    WINDOWS (C :)) 81.3 GB free of 149 GB
    Data (:)) free d GB 148 141 GB
    Microsoft Office 2010 click-toRun (protected) (q)

I had thought that children had simply filled memory working with games (Sims and Zoo Tycoon), but - looking at the available memory which doesn't seem to be the case.

So I ran the program 'Diagnostic Tool'. Everything was going well... until he ran the 'HARD drive '. And he says 'FAIL' in the box 'results '.

It's that I could get. Not sure why the result of the 'FAIL' is here. Don't know what the children may have done to the machine.

    Two questions:

-"disc HARD FAILURE" would cause the machine so slow?

    and

-What can I do to try to solve the problem?

Please, be soft with any response - PC management is NOT my forte!

    Thank you very much

    Helpless dad

    > "disc HARD FAILURE" would cause the machine so slow?

Yes, a faulty HARD disk can be the reason for the performance of the slow laptop.

    > can I do to try to solve the problem?

There are some things that need to be clarified.
If its a drive problem HARD physics, the only real solution is: replacing the HARD drive.
If the problem is related to bad sectors and files stored on the HARD drive, the solution could be much easier:
First of all I recommend you clean the system using CCleaner (freeware software)
You could delete the stored time.
Additional you may defragment HARD drive partitions.
Here is a nice article from Microsoft:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/atwork/maintenance/speed.aspx#fBid=opdomAEomx0

But if you notice any improvements, you can format the HARD drive and install the system using the Toshiba recovery disc.

  • Satellite C660 - very slow and freezes

Just bought this laptop in Argos a week ago. I know that other people have had similar problems. Basically things together is really slow no matter what you do, escecially when you go on the internet. Takes forever for nothing to take, then you end up with several windows open and all crashes.

On the suggestion of some people on this forum, I have removed the free McAfee antivirus and installed my own Norton one instead.

I installed the update to the BIOS when prompted to by the Toshiba updates.

Another problem is that there is the windows updates about 36 the machine try to download, but it keeps failing to install them and try again whenever you turn it on.

    All advice appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

    > Basically the whole things runs very slowly everything you do
It comes with the pre-installed Windows version or you have installed your own version? What additional software programs you have installed and that you have connected external devices?

    > Another problem is that there is the windows updates about 36 the machine tries to download but it keeps failing to install them and try again whenever you turn it on.
I recommend you to install Service Pack 1 before you start with simple updates of Windows. You can download Service Pack 1 all on the official Microsoft Website. After installation try to download Windows updates again.
