Satellite L850-1JH - dead, screen too dark

Hi all.

I had a problem with this laptop for the last four weeks.

One day worked, it normally stops and the next day when I power the screen was dead.

The fan stands up and lights, caps and numlock function, but not picture.

There are also 3 days ago, I noticed that if the screen is tilted I can actually see the Toshiba logo at boot and then a few icons on windows 8.

For what I found online that this laptop doesn't have a UPS because she is LED which requires current DC which is quite a new thing on laptops, I think.

One thing which I use to to check if there was any kind of output image has been to connect the laptop to the tv, but for some reason, that no picture is via vga or hdmi port.

That being said I'm reluctant about the fault being the monitor. One thing I'm positive, I can certainly see very dark and with the monitor image tilted slightly.

Someone had a same or similar problem?

See you soon.

Albert

I ve never been faced with this problem on my Toshi and cannot say for sure what the problem is here, but my opinion is that you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
I assume that the warranty is still valid for repair, if necessary, will be free of charge.

  • Portege R500-10J: not possible to watch movies - colors screen too dark

    Hello!

I recently bought a Portege R500-10J and have a pretty bad problem - I can not watch every movie (DVD or *.avi or anyone else) here. All media are invisible on the screen. Its too dark and some colors are recorded.

I have no problem with all office applications, or browsing the internet, the colors are perfect for screen 12.1 inch, but using any application media is almost impossible.

Didn't help not change any settings. The colors are extremely poor. I have not install anything but this was while the computer is first.

Anyone know - is it a hardware problem (video card) or software (drivers, codecs, sth else), or it is a normal phenomenon?

Hope it can be fixed. This laptop is supposed to be used for watching movies on a trip...

To be honest, it is not easy to understand your problem. I guess you use battery power while traveling. In this case, intelligence tool will probably switch to energy saving mode. In this case, the display brightness will increase at a lower level.

You can set it to the highest level by using the FN + F7 key combination. Be sure that the screen is in the right direction (90 degrees from your eyes).

  • Satellite L550 & Win7: Jpg become too dark using Office PowerPoint

Images JPG Photo instantly become too dark to use inserted once in Power point to a picture library.

I use my new L550 with Windows 7 and Power Point Office Professional 2007.

Jpg become too dark to fix using the brightness etc Format.
The photos have good light in them before insertion and are at least 4 MB in size, JPG quality is not the issue.

Someone at - he had problems similar and if so, has found a solution?

    Hi mate

To be honest, I doubt that this has something to do with the Toshiba laptop.
Powerpoint 2007 is a Microsoft product, and in my opinion, your question/problem is related specifically to MS PowerPoint software.

In my opinion, you should check this page from Microsoft:

  • Satellite Pro L670-103 screen is dark - external monitor ok

    Hello

Screen goes black in my Satellite Pro L670-103 while playing games. It is not completely off, but very very dark.
System is activated and works while its happening. No flickering, changing colors.
On the external monitor (TV via HDMI) everything works fine (so I guess that the GPU is very well).

The beginning I had to restart the laptop and screen was once again but now it does not work and I have to wait a few more hours a sound goes on again just by itself (im leaving laptop on).

I only use the approved oryginal drivers.
    System Windows 7 pro 64
I guessed it might be the display inverter, but someone from the point of laptop repair told me that because my screen is RUN there is no converter and problem is with the screen itself.

I spent hours reading various forums and UPS has been my best guess.

    Hello

I think that its problem of converter FL.
The FL inverter controls the backlight of the internal display.
I think I get m with my suggestions because the external monitor looks ok.
So it may not be a driver issue not a GPU problem

  • Screen too dark

I have a netbook Samsung that I took repair and now the screen is small.  I brought and the tech showed me how to use Alt and arrow to brighten up, which I had already tried on the rise.  He brought a correction so it worked, but the next day it was dark again and the Alt/top no longer works.  The screen used to darken in hibernation so cheer up when I moved the mouse.  How can I go back there to that?  Thank you very much for your help!

Try if possible to restore the system and make sure you have the latest updates.

  • Re: Satellite L850 - mouse buttons are too hard

I just bought a laptop L850, but because I have little strength due to disability, it is difficult to click on the buttons of my mouse. Is there a way to relax (maybe even by opening the laptop and remove the spring)?

    Thank you.

As far as I know, you cannot change anything. On some machines touchpad buttons are simply more difficult and depends on the construction. I m afraid you must live with it.

  • Satellite 1800-911 too dark screen brightness

I have a Satellite 1800-911 that works correctly, except that the screen is too dark, you can barely see.
I tried 3 screens and 3 inverters that work correctly in a 1800-354, without result. I also changed the cable from the motherboard to the screen without success.

There seems to be no control that affect brightness: I tried the power saver routines: no difference.

When I connect to an external monitor, the image is perfect.
The laptop is a new installation of Windows ME linking the restore CD.

    Hello

make combinations of already tried the "FN" keys on your keyboard to make you brighter screen? If not already so I suggest you perhaps it helps.
If not, I guess you have a problem on the motherboard.

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite L850 - screen went black

Suddenly I've woke up today and turned my laptop Toshiba Satellite L850 on discovery of the screen is black, worked fine last night.
The laptop is immaculate and never moved, haven t set new updated BIOS or anything irregular, tried to remove the battery and press and hold power for 30 sec and without success.

Interestingly, I connected a HDMI cable from my laptop to an external monitor, and also just a black screen.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

If I understand you right laptop starts normally with the HARD disk activity but rest black screen all the time. Is this correct? You hear the sounds of windows when the operating system is loaded?

Strange thing is that there is nothing on the external screen too. What you did is right but I have fear, you need professional help with this Mr. warranty is still valid?

  • Satellite L850 - screen is black

    Model: Satellite L850 - 1UX
    Part number: PSKG8E - 08100KCE

    Hi all

I have the above model. It happened to me the screen became black suddenly, but there is always something 'in the back. I can see the back of the screen (that is, the office or the initial password screen) but totally black, unless I look at it from an angle or with a lighter.

    This problem happened to me 4 or 5 times in the past<2 years="" and="" i="" am="" somewhat="" desperate="" because="" i="" cannot="" find="" any="" solution.="" the="" first="" time="" i="" took="" it="" to="" the="" service="" repair="" they="" told="" me="" that="" there="" was="" something="" with="" the="" automatic="" upgrades="" from="" the="" computer="" and="" i="" needed="" to="" cancel="" that="">

But the prpoblem persists, I tried to connect it to an external display, and it still works.

I don't know what to do to solve this time. Any advice?

    Concerning

.... I tried to connect it to an external display, and it always works.

If the external monitor works properly, the GPU as well as the graphics card drivers should be OK and I think that the problem must be related to a display board malfunctioning internal.

In case the pilots or GPU would make some problems, the external monitor wouldn't work too.

  • Screen on my machine is too dark

The screen on my computer is too dark. My old computer has one of those 'dials turn"on the side of the screen to adjust the brightness. Can someone tell me how to adjust the brightness on my new laptop?

You can adjust the brightness of the screen, both in respect of the use of the battery and mains.

  • Satellite L850 - 150 PSKDLE - a little too high internal temperature

    Hello friends of support.

    Satellite L850-150 PSKDLE - 07L 00
Slow times get a little hot atm... (60 - 70).

If I want to change the cooling block, but my problem is how to disassemble the laptop?
Google does not want of hits on this topic...

Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you very much.

In my view the 60-70 ° C are not too high.
For me high temperature is about 80-90 ° C, but at 60 ° C is nothing unusuall.

Furthermore, always depends on how you use the laptop and what software is running.

Play games, you will always notice a higher temperature.
In General, you should pay attention to the internal cooling fans.
Dust and debris could be the main reason for a higher temperature and clean the holes and vents should be good enough to keep the temperature low.

Use compress air jet to get rid of the dust. Usually, this helps.

  • Black screen appears 2-3 min long on Satellite L850-F313

I have problem with my laptop Satellite L850-F313, when I start my laptop computer, a black screen comes after Windows Welcome I see a black screen for 2 or 3 minutes until the desktop is displayed.

I thought that the black screen comes from Microsoft issue but when I contacted them they told me that I have to check with Toshiba because this problem can be solved by Toshiba.

    Could you please help me?

Could connect you an external monitor to the laptop and you could check if something would be seen on the external monitor?

You said that after short time (2 / 3 minutes) the office would appear... Well, for me, it means that the system needs time to complete the start-up procedure.

Without doubt, the question relates only to some of the problems of the system and so I might recommend to a Toshiba recovery procedure and to check the laptop functionality using the recovered expenses system.

I don't know what windows system was preinstalled on this laptop, but usually you can use the recovery media created clean in order to start the recovery process, or you can use the recovery of HARD drive... process details should be described in the laptop user manual.

  • Satellite L850-1FF - screen brightness hurt returning to record

I am the owner of a Satellite L850-1FF (lots of gfx mem)

Toshiba has enabled keyboard software tool that allows me to set the brightness to help
FN + F2 + F3 to display darker or lighter.
    It works very well.

    BUT.

If I close the lid (so the computer goes into power saving) and reopen the lid, the curriculum vitae of windows - the brightness is at max, or near max. The Fn + F2/F3 does not work. He just openes the view menu of the keys which is no setting - BUT does not work.

Obviously, guessing a bug in Toshiba graphics card, or the keyboard driver adjust brightness tool.

I wish I could restart the tool to see if that helps, but don't have any idea what program exe file it is.

Toshiba - when will fix you this bug?

    I am very angry.
I have to close all programs and restart windows now to make it work again.

    Greetings,
    Johan

I assume that by virtue of being able to save, you mean standby, right?

After waking from stand-by, can you change brightness level using parameters in some diet plan?

It is not easy to say what can be the problem, but if you can change it in Windows power plan but not the keys of F I guess the problem is Toshiba specific tool.

Otherwise, when you set the brightness level in Windows power management, it should not be changed after waking from sleep. That's what confused me.

Can you please change the power management, set the brightness level and test standby? The same thing happens again?
