Satellite P200-15N boot, numlock on

Hello world
I have a Satellite P200 laptop for over 2 years, but since yesterday I did a clean install of Windows7 on the machine.
But when I start/restart the NUMLOCK is off, but it would be nice to have that 'on '.

I already searched this topic on the end of the Internet, but does not solve the problem.
-Boot, and when you log on to push the numlock on it and restart. Didn't work...
-Research in the BIOS, but could not find where to change. I think that's in it to change...
-Also find a registry entry to change.
Regedit: + HKEY_USERS >. By DEFAULT > Control Panel > keyboard > InitialKeyboardIndicators +.
There you can right click and set the value to 2.
In many forums said, change the value from 0 to 2, but I have 10 numbers as the value. So I didn't do it...

Please, someone knows how to change?
Thans in advance!

-----
Best regards
Pieter

I tested it on my Satellite P200D and it did not work for me.
To be honest I don't see as so important because one key click you can turn on/off pad.

Have you chosen the right notebook series and have you installed the correct drivers for XP?
Satellite P200-15N belongs to the series of PSPB6E.

You must choose this number to the driver download page!

If you need the compatible WLan driver please check this portal WLan from Toshiba:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

As far as I know the laptop was supplied with 11 Intel a/g/n Kedron WLan chip.

Before you install the audio driver please make sure that Win XP has been updated to the last State. All MS patches must be installed. Also the Microsoft KB888111.exe patch must be installed before you begin installing the audio driver.

  • Downgrade from Windows Vista Home Edition to Windows XP Pro Dutch on Satellite P200-15N

Not knowing where I really should put this... I put it in this part of the forum too :)

    So:

    Hello

I bought a new laptop with Vista Home and two Partitions... I would like to install on the second partition "Windows XP pro" (with official key & SP2 included)! But when I run the XP Cd I get an error that the HD is not recognized... So I searched on the forum here, to see if there is a possibility of passby he...

    So what I did:
    (1) I download the "Intel storage drivers" of->
    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21

    (2) I used the Floppy machine, to create a floppy disk with the necessary drivers (also from the above site)

    (3) I downloaded a copy of freeware "Nlite".

    (4) I also downloaded the additional drivers on the "Toshiba" site itself (Lan, storage,...)

    (5) I did a "Xp Pro P200-15N" card and put all the drivers... Including the Exe I downloaded from the link above named "iata76_cd.exe"...

    (6) I have made a new Win XP bootable CD with "Nlite" & added all the drivers that I downloaded and followed the procedure given by "Nlite". He made a new bootable CD (with all the drivers and .exe and .inf, etc...)

    (7) then I boot my laptop with the CD, but it always gives an error on sata drives... (that it can not be found...)

So my question is... What I'm doing wrong and what should the other drivers I download to make it work? I have an external USB floppy drive... If additional drivers must be added... So I hope that there is someone can help to Ho...

I install XP for professional reasons. Things Vista Home can not handle...

Hope I got a respons soon... CZ, looks really URGENT...

THX in advance and sorry if there are errors in my writing (I still am of Belgium)

    UPDATE *.
The method above does not work for me... So took my USB floppy drive and put the drivers on it (hit 'F6' at the start, added the drivers found on the link above, it install it)...
Then I could also choose a partition...

So far so good... He asked me if wanted to format it or not... I said ok...
Then, when he wanted to start the copy, I got:

Insert the CD-rom or the floppy disk with the name
    Driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager
    In station of A:

    * Press ENTER when you are ready...

And I do not know what I do... CZ hitting enter doesn't do anything: s

So what I'm doing wrong, it becomes really ANNOYING and frustrating... I did everything they said in the link, in fact the method with f6, but still now reaction: s... Everyone?

    Sincerely,
    Frédéric

  • Satellite P200 - 123 No Post, but still the boots

    Hello

Have a strange, my old Satellite P200-123 worked extremely hot (70 inactive more than 100 of the load) 2 years so he disassembled and replaced the thermal grease, fans and cleaned. Standard maintenance went well, (apart from the microphone plug disintegrate at the start, but I use headphones so not really a problem).

First boot after the interview I noticed that the screen does not display anything until windows log in screen, no toshiba screen, no post messages, etc. At first, I thought it may have lack of an external port (VGA or HDMI) however I tried to connect to an external device and he still refuses to show anything until the windows log on screen.

I stripped and repaired hundreds of laptops (it's my job) but never encountered this in 15 years of maintenance and repairs PC and laptop. System running Windows 7 (not like it should make a difference) and the used thermal grease was the new Artic MX-3 and served on the GPU, the CPU and the Northbridge (and before someone says you must use the compound of unfounded pressure of toshiba ceramics, stuff I've used here are better for this the toshiba recommended stuff, believe me). The system works well (now idling at 39 and 65 at full load), I guess that's not much of a problem, unless I need to reinstall or restore my machine for some reason, all the world has an idea on how to fix this?

    Very interesting, Jaster! :)

Thanks for sharing this information with us!

  • Satellite P200 Vista Ultimate - boot configuration data read error

I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 running Vista Ultimate.

Recently I started having a problem after restarting after the installation of vista updates. In fact, it will not start at all and gives me the following message on a black screen.

Windows could not start. A recent change in hardware or software can cause of bethe. To solve the problem:

    1. Insert your windows installation disc, and then restart your computer
    2. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    3. click on "repair your computer".

If you do not have this disc contact your manufacturer aministrator or the computer of the help system.

    File: \Boot\BCD

    Status: 0xc00014c

Info: An error occurred trying to read the boot configuration data.

The only way I can fix it to insert the recovery dvd and click on repair. This levonorgestrol only when the computer restarts after an update. If I manually turn off the computer, then on start up fine.

I don't want to put automatic offf to update more because I think they are important from the safety point of view, however, this situation is not acceptable.

    Can someone please help.
I have a screenshot of the error, but have reproduced the information above.

    Hello

In my opinion, there is something wrong with your mater boot (MBR) of the drive and therefore the bootloader causes an error.

Usually, you might be able to fix it using the original disk of Vista but it s really strange that this problem still occurs after the update to vista.

In my eyes, you should really check if the same problem would happen using the Toshiba factory settings and configuration.

    Good luck

  • Satellite P200 - boot from USB possible?

As topic... I start my Satellite P200 of USB?
I can't find this option in the BIOS...

    Hello

I think that it should be possible.
This laptop supports a Phoenix BIOS. Am I wrong?

In this case, these startup options should be available:
Drive floppy USB, HDD, ODD, Network (LAN), USB memory

Try to select the USB port and check if you can see the additional Variant.

  • Satellite P200 - 17 c - freezes at loading Vista

Hi all, I have the following system:

    Satellite P200 - 17 c
    Intel® Centrino® Core 2 Duo Processor T5450
    Genuine Windows® Vista® Ultimate Edition
DVD Super Multi (Double Layer) drive
    2 048 (1 024 + 1 024) MB
    17.1 "Toshiba TruBrite® WXGA + TFT display

The issues I'm having is that when I start the laptop, it freezes at the loading bit Windows Vista. I so can't further.

I did some research on the internet and he advised removing the DVD drive, and then start the laptop. I did and he'll actually past Windows loading, but then the screen turns white for a while, eventually he'll in CHKDSK - here it always freezes at 31%. I was able to access the Advanced Boot Options, but it freezes trying to get into Safe Mode. I don't have a disc of recovery at hand, however, I have a Vista OS disk, I can also access the BIOS.

Please indicate how should I proceed? Thank you

    Hi masave,.

If your laptop also freezes if you enter mode Windows safe, it seems that the OS is confused upward and you probably have to reinstall

In your case, I'd do a recovery facility. You can use the function of your laptop HARD drive recovery. Go to the advanced Windows (F8) boot menu and select Repair my computer. The installation of recovery will begin now.

  • Satellite P200 - problem with the use of disk HARD original as external drive

I've been pulling on my hair for a month now and could do with help

I have a Satellite P200 series PC laptop and have recently updated from the 200 GB for a pair or 320 GB HARD drive. No problem

The question I have is that the old drive of 200 GB system I am unable to use it in any other machine or according to and external storage device.
The original secondary disc works fine few matter where I use it... (In my PS3 at the moment)

When I install the orgional system drive in my laptop and rebuild windows it it still works 100%.
Hance a good work of 200 GB of HARD drive.
Take it out and serve in another machine of storage that it won't - boot all I get is cyclic redundancy errors

I formatted, low level run endless disk tools
WD test came back with diagnostics Test::Read 11 - cable sector error!

Even as a drive on the original laptop is the same

All ideas taken with gratitude that I don't want to lose a good 200 GB HARD drive

    Thank you very much
    Roger

    Hello!

The external box is maybe defective, because you said that the HARD drive works in your laptop and the PS3 without problem.
You can test the HARD drive in another external case?

WD test unknown to me but I always use the Drive Fitness Test:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You can then the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite P200 - 1 FT fully formatted, recovery

    Hello Forum Toshiba,

    I have a problem with my laptop (Satellite P200 - 1 '). I hope you can help me :-)

I want to sell my laptop and so I wanted to completely remove my all data on the hard drive. I used a tool called dban (http://www.dban.org) and it worked fine. After formatting, I wanted to restore Windows Vista by using the Toshiba recovery disc.

The problem is: when I boot the recovery cd, I can choose the language and the system to be installed (Windows Vista), but then, there are two cmd Windows, which displays an error:

    http://S5.directupload.NET/images/080913/lmmgun9v.jpg

    http://S8.directupload.NET/images/080913/8i9cn9bz.jpg

I think that it was not a good idea to delete the partition X:\! ? And I think that there is a required Raid driver. Is this fair? What should I do now to recover Windows Vista?

    Please help me, thank you
    XeroX

    Hello

According to the error message in your first posting above (screenshots) disk HARD is not found because because the SATA driver is missing.
The laptop uses the SATA HDD controller and without a driver SATA HARD drive may not be recognized.

I put t how this 3rd part tool works, but the driver SATA is downloadable from the page of the Intel driver.
It s _Intel Manager_ of storage and the single SATA driver files located in the folder * 'F6flpy '. *

    See you soon

  • The recovery disk reformatted TWO hard disks on Satellite P200?

    Hello

My Satellite P200 has two hard drives.
When I use the recovery disc, it reformatted both drives or only one where Vista will be? I chose the first option, by the way.
Thank you, in advance, for your help.

If you choose the first option in recovery then it reformatted only the first HARD drive and it will consider the other HDD as additional storage space, as if it were a memory stick. When you get to the point of recover where you choose the operating system to install, it takes an option for settings or Expert mode. In one of them, I think that you can configure recovery and set up partitions.

If you want the operating system must be installed on both drives HARD, which is a bit useless, you have to remove one then do the reocvery on the other and then replace the retrieved by another and then to perform the recovery on that one. The only thing that I think this will mess up to comes from the computer won't know what MBR (Master Boot Record) to load, but if this isn't a problem then you can do what I just mentioned.

    I hope this helps.

  • Network connection lost after standby on Satellite P200

    Hello

    Laptop Satellite P200
    OS VISTA 32

When I stop to work with the laptop, I usually close monitor and when next time open computer laptop lost WIRELESS card.

Then I have to renew the configuration IP and internet begin to work.
Anyone know why and how to avoid it?
End I want to continue using boot options.

    TNX for any idea

    Hello

In your case, I recommend updating BIOS and to enable the option to Wake up on LAN in the BIOS and Vista.

In Vista, you can enable it in Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab LAN card

In addition, an update of the LAN driver would be desirable.

  • Re: Vista doesn't show log on screen - Satellite P200-1K9G

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 1K9G.

When I start my laptop, watch the boot screen, then the Vista loading screen displays and then not much after that, sometimes, I get my mouse cursor appears, but that's all.
I can't open a session, because the log on screen simply does not appear.

I fear that this may be a hardware problem... rather than a problem with Vista, although I have not made major changes that should affect the way it starts. I did however, download the latest ATI drivers, but after a reboot, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

In addition, my laptop recently started producing a static sound if no sound was produced through a program, i.e. iTunes.

I tried to start in Safe Mode, but my knowledge of computers is limited, can someone help me?

    Kind regards
    Trib

    Hello

You can try using the Advanced Boot Menu.
If you press F8 immediately after that the laptop was turned on then an advanced boot menu should appear offering boot options more.

One of the options should be the last known good Configuration (Advanced)
Check if you can use this option.
More details can be found here on this page of MS:
    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/f9c50a72-04EC-4088-9fd4-a4f979eef5a71033.mspx

But in the worst cases, the laptop must be recovered again.

It's the same thing when I try to install Linux Ubuntu.

However, when I put the CD in the system restore Toshiba giving it works.

    could someone help me?

    Hello

For me it sounds a little like the CD/DVD drive didn't read the disc.
Have you tried to use a MS Windows XP CD?
You can install Win XP using this disc?

Just a hint; the needs of P200 a installation of additional SATA drivers this means that the drivers SATA (places in the Intel Storage Manager) must be installed using a USB FDD drive or you could use a software free nLite that would allows allows you to create a new disk Win XP with SATA drivers.

I therefore call for this driver to download and how to make an update for it.

    Waiting for your help.

    Hello

I'm scared of m I didn't understand your question exactly.

You said that you downloaded a wrong BIOS driver? :|
I assume you mean the BIOS.

The European Toshiba page provides BIOS for Satellite P200 (PSPBG).
I checked the page driver and now the BIOS version 1.70 - WIN is available which was released on 13/09/07

This package contains a setup.exe. You can start the update of the BIOS, run this file.
    But please the following:

    -Portable is in stand-alone mode.
-Laptop is plugged into the mains.
-Laptop computer must be in boot mode and not recovery mode.
    -Remove all PC cards.

That s is very important to make sure that the BIOS update would work.
