Satellite P300 - how to open a stuck DVD player?

The DVD on my Satellite P300 drive just decided that she does not want to open. I tried to use a paper clip in the small hole next to the button, but that does not work either. The LED on the drive just flashes.

Someone at - it other ideas.

Thank you

Ron

Hey Buddy,

Normally on every CD/DVD player there is a small button of relief that you can open the player with a small paper clip even the CD/DVD isn't working or the normal eject button. If you use the emergency eject button the drive opens and you can remove the CD or DVD.

Also, check the user manual. I found this inside information. ;)

  • Satellite P300 - how to install Windows 7 64 bit?

    Hello

I had a Toshiba Windows 7 upgrade for my P300 which was under Vista 32 bit. During installation, asked me if I wanted to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 and I chose 32-bit. Installation worked fine.

Now (moths later) I decided that I would like to install the 64-bit version instead. I have an own (custom) settled by booting from the DVD, but it don't did me not option for the moment and all re-installed Windows 7 32 bit. I know that the 64-bit version is on the DVD (there is a folder for it) - how to start from the DVD and have it install the 64 bit version?
I didn't format the drive when you perform the clean installation - if I do that it will give me the option?

    Thank you
    Ben.

    Great news, mate! :)

Thank you for this feedback. I'll test it on my Satellite P300 I want to upgrade to Windows 7 too.

In addition, an upgrade is possible to the same version: This means that Vista 32 bit can only be upgraded to 32-bit Windows 7. On 64 bit it s the same ;)

  • Satellite P300: webcam driver open failed

    Hello

    I'm desperate.
1 month ago I bought a satellite P300-190 with webcam internal.

Everything seems to work, except the webcam.

I get the error when you start the software: "webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer.

I read so many threads about this problem.
I tried: update of software, of the bios, graphics card, software of the camera.
follow-up of most of the things specified in the markets, but still the same problem.

Is there a somewere expert who can help me solve this probem?

    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards, Jeroen.

    * Download driver Chicony Webcam drivers from Toshiba Web site section was updated. If you can't find an updated driver, try a new driver of another model of Toshiba.
    * Install the Service Pack 1 of Vista, or Vista Hotfix KB934374: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934374 (KB934374 is included in SP1)
    * Update your e-mail software (MSN/Yahoo Messenger, etc...)
    * If you have another program that can use the webcam (e.g. Skype), make sure that they are completely closed and not, sitting in the system tray.
    * Try to close the bar Assistant camera on the left side of the office.
    * To stop the Camera Assistant software from running at startup, run Regedit and delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Camera Assistant Software".

If this does not work, the best option would be to backup your data and run recovery. If it still does not work, then the webcam itself may be faulty.

  • Satellite P300 - How can I change face recognition tool?

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P300.
This laptop has the recognition of faces. There was an update on the facial recognition available so I tried to update the program.
But when I tried I got the message that there is already an existing version of the program and I should delete this first version.

So I tried to remove it using the remove program under Vista.
But then I had the message 1628 has not finished the install script-based.

So my question is: How can I update the facial recognition?

In my opinion you n t need any update. Please test the functionality and if the face recognition works correctly, you should be satisfied with it.

By the way: which version is preinstalled on your laptop now?

  • Toshiba Satellite 5200 - how to open the case?

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba portable computer Satellite 5200 903.
    Here's my problem:

My laptop is getting very hot, even it is idling. This is because the cooler got very dirty over time. And if the case/CPU-fan runs all the time, but no air comes out there.
Now, I would open the case and clean the cooler. But for some reason, it is not possible. I removed all the screws in the back, in the Bay of battery and the hard drive Bay, but it's not working. So I think there must be some other screws, maybe next to the powerbutton on the top under a blanket. But I don't know how to remove this cover, without breaking.
Or maybe I'm totally wrong and missed something else.
I hope someone can help me.

And sorry for my bad English.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

in my expierence the screws on each NB arranged differently and I would disadvice you open the NB to yours!

In my opinion, it will be the best way to the NB to a Toshiba Service partner. They have the kowledge how to open each specific model and change the FAN!

This will cost money, but you can be sure that it works after the check-up!

You can find the following Service partner

  • Satellite P300 - how to use two HARD disks?

    Satellite P300 with 2 hard drives (250 (= 232)) GB.

The first hard drive seems to be partitioned as (Vista) C: and F: (data). The F: drive contains a folder HDDRecovery, which I understand is recovery Vista using F8.
The F: drive takes 117 GB and is empty outside the data recovery.

I seem to be able to create additional folders on this drive F:, but I am concerned about the reliability of the data in these additional files, because it is on the partition of "valorisation".

I want to reduce the F: drive and add a FAT 10 GB drive at the end. Then, I want to install Linux on the 2nd HARD drive, using the Toshiba boot options to choose the boot drive at startup (DO NOT install GRUB on HDD1 but on HDD2). The 10 GB FAT at the end of the 1st HARD drive will allow sharing of data between Linux/Vista.

    So, questions:
    (1) is it safe to use drive F: (recovery) for normal data storage Vista?
    (2) the possibility of recovery will affect in any way if there are records of additional data on the recovery disk? (Note: I am not in contact with the folder HDDRecovery somehow, and I did the recovery DVDs).
    (3) can I reduce the F: drive without affecting recovery options?

    Thank you very much
    GB

    Hello!

    I completely agree with Garrett.

I store my files on drive F too where is the HDD Recovery folder but I didn't not store files in there. I create additional folders.
In addition, I would like to change the size of the partition where is the HDD Recovery folder. Maybe it will not work after that, but if burn you the recovery disk, you are on the safe side.

    Good bye

  • How to make compatible CD/DVD player on Satellite 5000-204

    Hi all

I see a thread on the replacement of CD/DVD drive on this laptop, but it was closed, so I write this post.
Most of the recent unit is to select "cable" type and will not be recognized many laptops Toshiba.

To fix that you should look for a disc for which you can find an update of firmware that change, that he either "reverse CSEL" type, Nec or Optiarc
If you buy a player that cannot recognize (like me) read below.

I have replaced the DVD-ROM/CD-RW unit with a Pioneer DVR - KD08 DVD burner.
This device is a "cable select" type (like most of the other recent unit) so we can't recognize this portable (and many other models from Toshiba). The solution is to connect the PIN 45 and 47 together on the disc or on the adapter connector (this second solution is simple).

If you look at the car by behind those pins are the second and third from the left on the top row of the pins of the connector.
The connector adapter, it is simpler connect these pins (carefully) with an iron solder directly on the circuit board.
Obviously on the circuit, the pins are the second and third from the right.
After that, the device will recognize ok.

    Hey Buddy

First of all thank you for the participation in the forum it of always nice to have users who shares experience and knowledge.

Thank you for this info how compatible CD/DVD player.
But to be honest I'm a bit skeptical because there is a chance that the player could be damage during this procedure.
If everyone could do but only at own risk!

Usually the compatible players are included in the user manual and it would be useful to take a look in the user manual before you buy a compatible player NOT ;)

    Cheers mate

  • Satellite C70D - how to start from the DVD

    Hello
You just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as much as I know to knowledge), except start it from the DVD. I disabled the Secure Boot in the bios and changed the boot order on a DVD first, then USB and HARD drive. The DVD player starts, but then it jumps on the HARD disk and Windows is started. First time I tried there was a message like "DVD boot not supported" or something like that.
The DVD is bootable, so it's not the problem.
I want to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Someone has already solved this problem?

Update: changing of UEFI CMS in the Advanced BIOS tab at the start of the DVD, but Windows no longer starts. Is it possible to boot from DVDE and still be able to start Windows as well?

  • Satellite P300 - how to insert a memory stick?

Sorry my bad English, but I need help with my 5 in 1 card reader.

In the manual of my Satellite P300 stand that I use:
SD, SDHC, MMC, MEMORY STICK (PRO) cards and xD.

I think, means 5 in 1 - is 1 slot for the whole of this map. is it wrong? My laptop have 1 location for these cards.

I have no problem to insert an SD card in, but a MEMORY STICK card is a smaller format.
Is there a special adapter? What do I insert the MEMORY STICK in this machine slot?

    THX

    Hello!

Yes, 5 to 1 means that, in this card reader, you can use these 5 different memory cards.

I n t have a memory stick but normally it of pretty easy to insert. In my opinion, not useful to insert the card in the middle of the slot. But be careful and do not force.
    Check it!

Furthermore, memory stick duo/Pro duo are not compatible. Make sure that normal memory.

  • Satellite P200-1EE: issues of HD - DVD - how to upgrade an HD-DVD player?

Please excuse this if it is a basic question, but I'm still learning to use the P200 and find my way around Vista.

I have problems with HD-DVD not playing does not and have downloaded a file
    hddvdpl-20071214135201.
It contains 14 files and folders. One click to start the upgrade?

I also checked the version of the driver for TS-L802A and seems to be day 21/06/06 6.0.6000.16386

    Any help please.

Downloaded files of the HD-DVD drive is only an update. It s not a full version, and therefore, you'll need preinstalled full HD-DVD player.

One question; did you find a .exe file in the downloaded folder?
Please check and if necessary enforce it.
