Satellite U500 - 6 1 stops unexpectedly

My Notbook stops (not shut down windows - that's as you press the power button for a while) without warning if I play games or use a lot of cpu power. I think that it is a heat problem. Which can also solve this problem stop?

Hello

> I think that it is a heat problem. Which can also solve this problem stop?

I agree with you.
I think that it is an overheating related problem.

You can try to resolve this cleaning the cooling fans. I clean my cooling modules from time to time using the jet of compressed air.

The dust and debris that may affect the flow of air for fans of cleaning could you help to untangle this annoying problem.

    Hello

If I were you I would wear the machine and the mains adapter to the nearest local service partner because this looks like a serious hardware problem.

I think it has something to do with the power subsystem and a technician must check your hardware on likely hardware failures.

  • Satellite U500 - 18L - stops randomly without notice

    Hello!

my laptop suddenly and randomly turn off (as if I plug the power) at any time (after 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes or even more than that), but it works normally in safe mode, without any problem. I searched the internet but I have found no help.
-It is not a heating problem.
-J' tried to remove the graphics card driver.
-J' even got Toshiba HDD recovery.

but the problem still there. What in the world could be the reason? and why it only happens in normal mode but not in safe mode. so frustrated :(

    Help, please

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say why this is happening. My first thought was maybe overheating.
Satellite U500 is old enough laptop model, and I can imagine the fan cooling or cooling rack can be full of dust that blocks the flow of regular air.

Safe mode is a mode type of diagnosis of Windows and most device drivers are not loaded. Of course in this mode CPU does not work under stress and many processes are not active. In this laptop mode will not produce as much heat as usual.

Of course, I can't say with certainty that overheating is the reason described interruptions, but in my opinion, your first step should be portable professional cleaning. After doing this, you can check the feature and is if the same thing happens again. If so, it may be a hardware problem.

I agree with the dealer and the other type of service.
The new installation of the OS would be the best option to solve this problem.
In this case, you would also check if the problem could be related to malfunction of the equipment.

Mentioned service options (fixmbr - fixboot - Bootmgr changes) were a good idea but own facility will be more effective if it comes to the problems of graves of the system and register.

By the way: the laptop should start and run properly using the Live CD (if material isn't affected). Live CD does not access or write files on the HARD drive, which means that even if the HARD drive would be a malfunction, the laptop should work fine running of disk system Live.

  • Satellite U500 - USB2.0 UVC webcam no longer works

    Hello

I just upgraded my Skype to the latest version and now my integrated webcam usb2.0 UVC does more work. In fact, she seems to light (blue light that appears next to it on my screen) but the image is black with a grey circle search turning in the middle.
My PC is a Satellite U500-1DZ.
To be honest, not been use my webcam for 3 months before that, but the last time worked perfectly with the old version of Skype

At the same time, my Council of Toshiba Tempro update me my driver my BIOS and display
I tried to do this several times but it doesn't work.
For the BIOS, I'm just able to download 44% of it, and then it just stops. Same with the display driver.

These 2 problems could be related?
    What can I do?

Thanks in advance for your help and response

It is not easy to say what the problem is here, but what you can try is to reinstall the software of the webcam of the Toshiba download page and check again.

If there is no problem with your laptop, in my view, there is no reason for updates, including BIOS update.

Anyway, the latest versions, you can find on Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    Check it out.

  • Satellite U500 (PSU9ME) - crash of the video driver

I have the goth answer for the question in [- this - | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=205511#205511] thread.
Of course, it's problem of build of Windows 7 Home Premium, which is OEM by Toshiba.
I installed Windows 7 Enterprise, all the problems with video driver sudden accidents have disappeared.
There is no message more "display driver stopped responding and found" - NEVER.

IMO, it's a problem of oem Windows 7 installed by toshiba.

    Recommended solutions:
    1. install the new copy of windows (NO system restore, install new ones only).
    -or-
    2. install Linux :)
    -or-
    3. purchase MacOS (for maniacs, ordinary users - not recommended)
    -or-
4 sell this laptop and purchase another one again.

And for the grand finale - I discovered that my U500 screws have come loose and even lose.
I recommend you to check all the screws and tighten if necessary.
Frankly said, I was amazed when I discovered this... This! I am owner of laptop opportunity, it was produced in 1999 and since then I had nothing even close to decomposition of the laptop chassis.

    Hello

I am owner Satellite U500-1EX (touch screen model) for about 6 months now and still use the preinstalled Toshiba recovery image. In these 6 months I didn't noticed any single problem with this machine, although I use it daily for my work (Internet, Office Automation) and also for some private activities (multimedia).

After reading your ad, I checked all the screws at the bottom and everything seems fine. The machine is still OK. I don t want to write now about the feature. I can just tell that this model of laptop is perfect for mobile use and consider with if necessary.

So far, I still think that my decision to purchase this laptop was good.

In just a matter of end on this driver error message: when you noticed this error message? By watching a few videos maybe?

    Hello

Such a problem is not known to me, I never heard tell about it...
But I m wondering you can hear the sound through the headset too.

In any case, you run factory settings? If this isn't the case, I recommend to reinstall Windows from the Toshiba recovery disc!
    Check this box!

Also check that the latest version of the BIOS is installed. In the worst case you it s a bad material work :(

  • Satellite U500 - high slope noise

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite U500 and the system itself seems to work perfectly. A month ago, my laptop started to make a noise, a constant noise from slope high unbearable. The only time where the noise stops is when the laptop is turned off and for a very short period of time when windows starts.

The noise seems to come from the speakers, but it continues if I put mute the speakers or not *.

    Hello

Are you sure that the sound comes from train workers?
Maybe the sound comes from a another part of material have you checked the HARD drive? You can try to disconnect the HARD drive and then start Notepad and go into the BIOS. You can hear the noise too?

In my opinion, this looks like a hardware problem. Therefore, you should contact a service provider authorized in your country. Technicians can check your laptop.

  • Satellite U500 1 6 - occasionally freezes / hangs at startup

My 2 month old by Satellite U500 - 1 6 (Windows 7 64-bit, the newer version of the BIOS, drivers of Toshiba Homepage) occasionally freezes after a few hours of operation, and I have usually close with the powerbutton.

In addition, what is far worse: most of the time even if I stopped him on a regular basis the laptop goes down when I start windows again. He stops at the W7 windows loading screen and then starts the neverending stop & start 'loopnirvana': it stops there and the laptop restarts automatically.

When it restarts I have the option either to let windows repair or start regularly... in both cases, that the laptop crashes again and again and again... only for example the 15th start is finally successful.

I made this experience with the version pre installed toshiba "out of the box" and hoped that a new fresh configuration with a recovery CD or W7 clean would solve this.

But not, unfortunately, always the same behavior. If it never works so that started windwos my entire Setup is messed up and the time and date is set back to January 28...

More than that... I too this problem here that the driver stops working for seconds from time to time:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=53046&TSTART=0

I sent the laptop for service inspection, but whatever they put in the report:

Verified hardware, Bios Update, stresstest 7 hours... or error (BUT also done during the first boot after receiving the device the cell phone was in above mentioned 'mode'!)

So, Any ideas what the problem may be?
Rather, I think that it is hardware related, but have no idea?

I'm about to send it back to the service in the hope that they could give me a new device?

Really, it of not funny, takes time, etc. had a toshiba before and hoped same quality here...
Once again 'clean' installation and installs only a prog per week?

    Help!

    THX, but.

    Hello

As you said that this problem occurs only sometimes
This means, it of difficult or it s not possible to reproduce this problem

You said it happens after a few hours of usage
Maybe it s related to high temperature?

These issues can occur due to overheating the temperature can affect the memory modules and this would affect the functionality of the laptop.

I recommend you to check the cooling fans may be dust and debris blocking the fans
I clean my laptop cooling modules at any time using a jet of compressed air.

Don t use the laptop on the lap of e; in bed or a sofa, there always enough free space around the lid to ensure good air circulation.

  • Recently upgraded to El Capitan, I had that problem for Mail stop unexpectedly when I saw some posts.  I followed the steps and was able to remove the trouble messages.   Now I can't restore the mail window message viewer component.

Recently upgraded to El Capitan, I had that problem for Mail stop unexpectedly when I saw some posts.  I followed the steps and was able to remove the trouble messages.   Now I can't restore the mail window message viewer component.  When I try to catch the separator bar to go back to the left, only half of the small arrow icon and line appears, and it cannot be moved.   Can open the message by double clicking a message viewer.

    Hi there, alicefrompa!

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. From your post, I understand that you do not see the Message Viewer box which allows you to read your e-mails; only see you the Inbox that includes a brief overview of the message and are unable to restore access using the separator bars. I have had this happen to my own Mail app and am happy to let you know how I could fix!

You are really on the right track - you want to roll your mouse over the divider between the Inbox and sections Message Viewer (which should now be on the extreme right edge of your mail window) and drag it to the left.  When you click on the receipt/Message Viewer box, the cursor turns into a line continuous black with a single arrow pointing to the left. When you see the cursor change, click with the left button of the mouse and (while holding down the mouse button in) drag the combination line / arrow to the left. You may need to drag a little further than before to get it. I had to hang mine almost completely in the middle of my Mail app before the display of the message box appeared.

From there, you should be able to adjust the boxes to your widths you want as expected.

If you are still not able to get the display of the messages visible after have try this, here are a few more things that you can do.

    1. Press command + O on your keyboard.
    2. Exit the Mail application, and then press on and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard while reopening.
    3. Restart your Mac by selecting the menu  Apple in the upper right of your screen restart from the menu drop down.

    See you soon!

  • Satellite U500 - 10L and password protection

    Greetings,

I have Windows Vista (service pack 2) installed on my laptop Toshiba Satellite U500 - 10L (PSU5EE). Recently, I encountered a serious problem; Password Admin Windows is vulnerable through the Start Menu (hit F12 when you turn on the laptop) machine, I mean anyone with a USB/CD boot can crack the password.

Now I would restrict access to the Start Menu - or remove the boot by USB/CD options in the Menu. I just installed the updated BIOS (2.5 WIN), but unfortunately the BIOS provides no options to restrict access to or to modify the Start Menu. I find it is a major breach of security, is their anyway to deal with this problem?

    I appreciate your quick response.
