Satellite U500 - physical button won't turn wireless power adapters

Ladies and gentlemen, it is a little weird.

For some reason, the physical power button on the front of U500 my wife will not turn adabters WLAN and Bluetooth enabled or disabled without a hard reboot.

If I swtich off button and the LED next to her remains on the cards continue to run and will not actually switch off unless I restart the machine and even if I turn the back button.

We know so at least the hardware itself works, but it really does work. I went through all of the software drivers and setting I could think of that could cause this, but haven't found anything abnormal. What do you think is happening here?

TIA,
Shady

When you leave the WLAN button ON all the time can you enable or disable WLAN or BT using the FN + F8 key combination?

  • Satellite U500: Volume + button glue IT when it is connected to the power adapter

I have a problem with the touch buttons on my U500. I have already returned the first laptop that I bought for the Exchange.

    The question is this:
When the power cord is connected (without worrying if connected to the wall) the "Volume +" button will stick THERE.
The volume will continue to rise, it cannot be muted or turned down as the + keeps repeating.
Without the power cable inserted the works of buttons as expected (normally).

I made the new installation of recovery discs - do not set (under Vista)
Then another new installation Win7 upgrade and this new PC is having the same problem.
At first, I thought a hardware fault (the new PC worked fine for awhile).
But now the second PC has the same symptoms I suspect a software/driver problem.

I've seen suggestions for similar questions to:

  • Satellite L655 - 17 H - won't turn on properly

I just bought a new Satellite L655 - 17H and it is already causing problems.

The laptop sometimes turns. When you press the power button on the laptop lights will Flash and then turn off quickly, but the laptop does not light. If you press the power button several times she always does.
I usually use my laptop without the battery and it was working fine. Sometimes it works if I put the battery and press the power several times, but not always.

Any suggestions on what this might be?

    Hi Jade,.

How much time do you have your laptop? I ask this because in my opinion that s not normal behavior and if it of possible I return the laptop and pick up a new. Normally in the first 14 days it of possible, but it s based on your country/seller.
This t shouldn't happen on a new laptop that is only a few days old.

It seems that it was just chance but don t you worry not about it. It can happen to everyone ;)

  • Satellite A660 (12 X) won't turn on

I downloaded a BIOS update, and at the time wherever I run it, the laptop froze. No response from keyboard or mouse movement. I let it be for a few hours and it has not yet moved. I tried to turn it off, and it did not work. Long press the power button no longer works. In the end I had to remove the battery to turn if off.

Now, it does not turn. By pressing the power button doesn't do anything: no movement of screen, lights or fan. The only thing that still works is the witness of power cable.

I used the factory pre installed Windows 7.

Bad luck buddy I have no idea why the updates to the BIOS did not run successfully, but it seems that the update did not complete successfully and the module ROM was not properly flashed.
I m not very well if the new BIOS update using a disc of crisis could help you, but you should certainly contact the Toshiba authorized service partner in your country for assistance and support.
Explain to him that the whole story and possibly the crisis disk would be your last way to get if fixed.
Otherwise the motherboard must be replaced:(j'espère que cette isn t le cas)

    Hello

My laptop has decided that it will switch to me.
I have tried with battery and AC cable in French - nothing, cable of battery and AC in French - nothing.

I had a glance on this forum and cannot find any suggestions, I have not tried, so everyone has no more or should I just go to an ASP?

    Hello

    It its good doesn t...
The laptop must function properly and it should stop by pressing the power button for 4 seconds.
It should also start without any big problems

Just a question; is it possible to reinstall the OS and redefine the laptop to factory settings?
If this isn't the case then I would be highly recommended to contact the ASP because the guarantee seems to be valid and the ASP technician should repair at our expense

In my opinion, it's the best procedure

  • Satellite C660 - 23 M won't turn on and makes a high pitched noise high

    Hi I'm new here

Ive had my laptop for about 2 years and she had a lot of problems - broken screens, dust in the fan, etc.

yesterday I used it as usual when it off completely without warning.
I'm used to is happening because my laptop overheats and turns off like that on a regular basis.

However, when I turned it back on, it makes a high pitched noise that kept getting more high until the laptop turns off again.
I think the noise of the fan.

There was also a slight smell of burning plastic.
My laptop does not turn on and when I plug it in the orange power light does.

Also last week the hing on one side of the laptop is broken.

To be honest, all the details do not sound very good...
Everything looks like some causes of serious hardware problem laptop cannot be turned on.
I can't say for sure what the problem is here, but probably the motherboard or the CPU is dead.

In any case, your data on the HARD drive should not be affected, and I guess you could get access to your entire iTunes library. You must remove the laptop HARD drive Bay HARD drive and you will have to use an external USB 2.5 "HDD caddy to connect the HARD drive from the laptop to another computer as an external USB HDD.

This will allow you to move forward and back up the data to another job good HARD drive.

  • Communication satellite U500 wifi switch control does not work

    Hello

I have problem after update of the operating system from Vista 64 bit to win7 64-bit. The problem is in the wireless communication switch command before notebok. When I was with win vista, it works fine, post off - wifi off and post-wifi on (without restarting). But when I updated to win7 and install all the drivers of toshiba upgrade dvd, my wifi switch works as follows:

When I turn on notebook with wifi off button - its turned off all the time and the wifi does not work and fn + F8 (shortcut key for wifi) does not work too. I have to restart the PC with wifi switch in position-the wifi works fine and fn + F8 is able to turn on and turn off the wifi. But that put the material do not react to pass and - diode LED is always on (in case when I start the pc with position control on and in the case where is when off wifi LED is not clear and switching does not work).

I've updated wifi realtek drivers but still it does not work. IAM verry sorry for my English. I was looking into Toshiba diagnostic tool and there is no modem device, but yes, wifi is perhaps problem here?

Thank you very much for the reply. Tom

    Hello

Different Satellite U500 (and other models) supports various wireless network cards, and that's why you'll find also different WLan card drivers.

Your U500 seems to be equipped with an Intel Wlan card and here you can also download the right Intel Wlan card driver for this card:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

    Welcome them

  • Re: laptop won't turn on

I have a Satellite A215 who just won't turn on. I have the blue light flash on the power cable and battery. I tried to take out the battery and memory.
I tried to use only the power cord power, but with no luck please please help got all my pics on laptop and it won't just turn

Have you tried a different memory location? On some PCs, you must have a Module of memory in the first place. Otherwise, it does not start.

If this does not work, then the motherboard or video card might be faulty. Take it to a Service Center for repair.

I just bought this laptop yesterday and when I read the manual book its has said that the package includes the bag and the driver on the CD but I had none of them, only the laptop and the power cable.

When I ask the man to store, he says, it's all... no other. Where can I ask questions about it? Or is it a common thing?

    Hello

    + Toshiba Satellite U500 laptop PC +.
+ Universal AC adapter power cord + and
+ Battery (is preinstalled on the computer).
+ Cleaning cloth (is included with some models).

  • Satellite U500 - the volume buttons do not work

    Hello

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite U500 two days ago and already problems :(

It has a control buttons sensitive contact, which includes the eco, the media buttons and the volume control utility (+ and -)
The volume buttons do not work, and sometimes the computer crashes to their contact. Once I touch the-, he begins to turn volume down until it reaches zero, and even if I turn it up using windows, back to zero (as if the button is still depressed). The + does not work.

Help, please. Is it possible to re-install the drivers?
The only solution I found is to disable them using HWSetup...

Great news. Thanks for the comments!

  • Satellite Pro A300 / PSAJ1E - 01000XEN won't turn on

    I have a new laptop, Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 / PSAJ1E - 01000XEN.

After I opened the box and put it on my desk, I connect to the AC adapter and after that I tried to turn on the laptop but there is no response.

I removed the battery and pressed the button (to remove the static). I then plugged in the power adapter and properly turned on the laptop (with no battery).
If I stop the machine, the laptop won't turn on with the battery and the AC adapter. I have to remove the battery so that the laptop turn on.

I think the problem is the battery or maybe the BIOS... I await your comments on this topic...

What seems to be something wrong with your laptop.
But please don t ask me what exactly wrong s or what part malfunctions.
Without any control it s simply not possible to provide the final diagnosis.

Maybe you could get a new one?

  • Satellite U500 - 01b - Webcam turns on, but nothing

    Hello world

I have a Satellite U500/01b, aged for 2 weeks and I am yet to discover how to operate the webcam. Everytime I open the program (the top button on the small box that appears on the left) I just get a black screen. Turns on the webcam, but I see nothing. I had it working at a time by selecting 'night mode' in the settings but now I went to for use and its just empty.

Y at - it a trick or something to make it work? What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you.

    Hi J_irwin,

Are you running the factory settings or did you do your own installation of Windows?

In my view, it must be a problem with the webcam settings and you should check out them. So read this article that can help you:
