Satellite U840-111 - Boot USB option not seen unless

With the help of the Ultrabook I have prepared an "emergency" Ubuntu USB boot image (LinuxLive used to transfer a .iso downloaded to a USB device) on an SD card in a USB - SD adapter (the map is to a USB port, not the SD slot).

It worked well.

But when I restart the Ultrabook using F12 to see the Start Menu there is no text next to the USB option in the start menu (and if I select the boot option I see Windows start as usual).

If I select the option in the Bios on the F12 boot menu to go to the Boot menu in the BIOS I still don't see any text on the USB line.

If now, I re - feed and use F12 I now see "Mass Storage Device" (or something equivalent, can't remember) on the port USB line and the machine now boot Ubuntu on it (and I can see the file system on the hard drive).

As far as I know, you need to enter the BIOS Setup, but do nothing) before using the F12 boot menu if you want to start on a USB (well this one at least).

This seems to be a bug in the BIOS? BIOS version is 1.4

Not quite sure if it s a bug or not.

To my knowledge, the USB boot option to flinch F12 menu until a USB compatible and put up-to-date device should be plugged.
This means that you must connect a bootable USB device to the laptop and then power the device and press F12 to get the menu.

I also read that all the devices can be fully compatible so it would be really interesting to know if the same question is displayed using a bootable USB flash memory key you've tried a combination of USB SD adapter I could be possible that it is the problem here.

  • Satellite U840-10N - Windows Installation can not see any drive

Hi all, this is my first post so I hope that I chose the right place to post in.

I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite u840-10n ultrabook. He joined WIndows 7 Home Premium 320 GB HHD + SSD of 32 GB.

Even though I prefer Linux, I need Windows because of Microsoft Visual Studio. I downloaded Visual Studio (legally throught dreamspark.com), but it looks like it has some issues. In particular, I can't create any project.

After searching the Web for this problem, I decided to try reinstalling Windows, hoping that this will solve the problem, and here's the point.

Installation process of Windows 7 can not find any drive. I looked through the web a lot to solve this problem, even, without understanding.

I read a lot of other people had the same problem. I tried different ways and I'm about to throw the laptop out the window.

Is there anyone can help me?

    See you soon,.

You need to load the SATA driver before you start the installation of the OS. Try it please use the files from http://www.fileswap.com/dl/igfH0jVrap/

I used it on my Win8 preinstalled satellite to install Win7 64 bit. Copy it to USB and install from there.
    Please post comments.

  • for hp laptop d008se, boot usb drive not in the sequence of boot in the bios!

I have purched a HP Notebook Laptop (HP D008se) model with Win 8.1 only language X.64 bits.

I want to boot from a USB key, I went to the bios by(ESC+F10) and went to the boot order, but there is no USB drive

only (hard USB, CD/DVD, network, the OS Boot Manager), ok. I did the last Boot order

I put my USB Bootable and press ESC, but my Flah is not in the list.

Please, could say one met my, what I can do to boot from My USB, and is this model not supported USB bootable... it will be a problem for me!

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Press the power button then immediately press the ESC key to access the boot menu choose the F10 key to enter the BIOS. Click the System tab and then click start options.

In the start options, enable legacy support option.

Press F10 to save changes and your computer will restart.  Make sure that the USB is connected to a usb port. Now you should see the USB in the selectable start options if it is indeed a boot device.  If the USB was not bootable you still not see in the list.

  • Satellite Pro L10-103 - USB ports not working not

Hi, my Satellite Pro L10 - 103 USB Ports do not work. I tried different things and finally my Advisor rubbed my computer clean of all programs and operating system. After reloading of the set up disc and having lost my dear some programs I am no further forward. It still does not.

Anyone know if this means that it is a mechanical problem with the computer? (I use Windows XP). Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

As wrote Akuma did you use the Toshiba Recovery disk or the Microsoft Windows disk?

After installing XP, make sure that Service Pack 3 is installed. It contains important updates and can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba.

In addition, try to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager, restart the computer. Ports will still be recognized and ready to use once.

  • Satellite A200-1tw psae6e - USB ports not working not

I use windows 7 ultimate on Satellite A200-1tw (psae6e-06u030du) and my usb ports no longer works correctly.
In fact they recognize certain usb devices, but not all (for mouse and printer example work, but my USB does not work)

Looking at the Device Manager, everything seems OK... No problem!

Does anyone have a solution for my problem.

    Thanks :)

    Hello

Try resetting the USB ports. This means that you need to remove the USB ports/hubs/controllers in Device Manager.
Then, you have to restart the laptop to get new USB ports.
In my case it has worked.

By the way; I recommend upgrading the chipset driver and disable the feature for each energy-saving usb port.
This can be done in the Device Manager-> port USB-> properties-> tab to save energy

  • USB devices not seen on Satellite Pro A60

    Hello

I'm having a problem with my laptop Satellite Pro A60 running Windows XP Home: it is simply not to see all devices at all. Devices (USB, fan keys) are to be supplied with electricity, but I can find no trace of them on the computer anywhere. It is even not complain that they are not recognized - it's as if they were not there. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers of hub USB root/controllers, but that has not helped.

It is the latest in a string a glitches that can be helpful to know: a few weeks ago, the ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP suddenly caused windows crash at boot time. I could just sort the problem by updating the bios and reinstall the ATI drivers (all toshiba). It is not of course the relevance, but after the bios update I also improved the 6 F-secure antivirus software. XX to 7.01.

Usually, I try to get as much as I can by reading these forums but I'm not a guru of computing and on this one, I'm out of ideas - because Windows is not identify any fault, I don't even know what to look for on google... Someone has an idea?

    Thank you very much

    Philippe

Hmm, you said that you have already reinstalled the drivers of USB controllers/root hub.

    But maybe you should try to make this again as a result of this procedure;
    -Disconnect all USB devices
-go to the Device Manager and change the view to display hidden devices.
-Open the tree of the USB controller and remove all controllers.
-Restart the computer and wait until the OS has installed everything again.
-Then plug the USB devices to the USB ports for laptop

If this does not help, it would be desirable to recover the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD supplied.

    Good luck

  • Satellite U840-111 - not used SSD

It has just delivered 14 "Ultrabook has an SSD and HDD.

Looking to the SSD with disk management I see that it is not used (without drive letter, 100% free).

Why not? Surely, it is there for a kind of quick start, then why is it not used?

The hibernation file should be on it? If yes how can I move it?

Someone tell me what I missed it please.

    Hello

As far as I know the SSD drive is connected to a slot mSATA directly on the motherboard.
The mSATA looks a lot like the mini-PCI slot but it s different.
However, the HARD drive is connected to the SATA controller and this is perhaps the reason for this.

  • Satellite Pro L10 boot password is not the same as in HWSetup

I recently got a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L10 by my employer. I entered a password and then confirm the password again in the configuration of HW from Toshiba in Control Panel of Windows XP. Then I clicked on the recommended option. No string or password was displayed in the box under Registered.

Since then, I was not able to boot up the laptop as the password that I entered Setup of HW is not recognized by the laptop started upward. I tried to type the password with caps lock, shift, and numlock on also. Are there any bugs or fault with defining a password for starting in the HW configuration utility? If there is a fault or a bug I would have preferred that the portable computer password is removed under the guarantee.

If I have to pay a Service partner.

    Hi Geoff

On this path, it is not easy to tell what's going on exactly, but I assume that your employer has implemented BIOS password. You can enter the BIOS settings by using the F2 key at startup?

The BIOS password removal is not part of the guarantee and it must be paid. In my opinion, you must bring the laptop to your employer. He probably has Admin rights and it can set up passwords on the right track.

  • Satellite 5005-S504 - peripheral USB are not recognized

    Hello

with my laptop older, one Satellite 5005-S504, I recently problems with the USB ports. None of the three ports detects a USB device. Device Manager does not indicate a problem on the host controller or root hub.

I am running Windows XP, SP3 and there was no recent updates to be identified as the cause of this dysfunction.

    Suspicion over there?
Is there a driver available that could help?

    Thanks in advance!

    TH

    Hello

The USB ports are listed in the Device Manager or not?
If so, I'll try to remove them and restart the laptop. After that the ports will automatically install again.

If it doesn't work, you can try updating the chipset driver. Take a look on the Web from Toshiba site to download.

    Hello

Pretty easy to solve if it is Os/driver related issue. Reinstall/Update utility chipset of the [Page Driver Toshiba | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp] or go to Device Manager, click on, controllers bus USB, to uninstall, then restart the laptop then

    Satellite pro SP6100:
After the computer starts, I get the error message USB device does not work correctly.
I have nothing plugged into the USB port but I don't get the error message.

Is there anyone with any problem and does anyone know a solution?

    Hello

How rachelrising said it, it s a good idea to remove the device from Device Manager.
After the reboot, the operating system should recognize the device again.

  • external USB drive not seen

    Hello

I just bought a Readynas RN212 as a replacement for my Duo (v1). But the external USB drive (Toshiba 2.5 inch, ext3), that I used as backup for my Duo and always worked perfectly, is not recognized in the RN212.

I have ssh - ed at the RN212 and did a manual mount: mount-t ext3/dev/sdb1/mnt which worked. The player ends up in/run/udev/data.

    Any idea what's going on?

    Kind regards

    Eric

    Hello espakman,

This USB has data on the volume of your old Duo? If it is possible to format, use the NTFS system.

If it contains all the data, it's that it may be preferable that you contact support for the RN212 so it can be verified from the backend.

    Kind regards

The other day that I've updated my BIOS on my Toshiba satellite L855 - 10 p and since my key usb stopped recognizing devices! I already tried everything I found on the web, contacted Toshiba support who gave me a link to the drivers usb etc and nothing.
Is it possible to cancel the upgrade? or re install old BIOS?

I don't know if this will help but value default BIOS settings and try reinstalling the chipset driver.

  • USB-6501 not seen by MAX

    Hi all!

I have a PC under WHAT XP 2002 (SP3) with two USB-6501 Renault connected on it.  I can see two devices in the DEVICE MANAGER under the heading "Data Acquisition hardware" and the two seem to have installed proper drivers.  They show their driver versions of file as 2.3.1f0.  I also have NI MAX v4.6.2 installed on the computer.  But Max, I am unable to display all the devices.  When I try and expand the section "Devices and Interfaces", the MAX software enters a State of non-response and when he answers Finally, I get the following message redirect me to the Web site of EITHER:

There was a problem connecting to the database.

Restart your computer.  Refer to knowledge base article 42HG08DD for more information

and if the problem persists, contact National Instruments.  Go to ni.com now?

I could see the two Renault to the MAX on another computer with installed Windows7 and MAX version 14.

Just make sure you install complete DAQmx with the support of the MAX configuration.  It is possible to enter in some States strange if you have MAX and DAQmx Runtime, but not the support of DAQmx for MAX.  In addition, MAX 4.6.2 is a real version, but very old.

Note Setup below should work and will include a version of MAX.

This occurs only when the power supply is plugged in and both if the machine is running or not.

This suggests a power supply leaking to me, I see there are scattered reports of what is happening in Toshiba and other laptop computers. Just thought I would write it down for reference.

Also I would like to know which is the best contact for a replacement PSU, Currys hassle who sold it or Toshiba themselves. Any suggestions based on experience?
