SCSI WITHOUT RAID

Hi, wonder if anyone can help with this problem we have seen with our power edge 2850 ([ADMIN NOTE: Service tag deleted by privacy policy])

A few days ago raid completely stopped working. Citing the firmware. has been corrupted. And I couldn't access the raid utility either. In any case put the hand on the update of the firmware for it which has repaired and updated. But does not seem to do as much had the same problem on reboot. Tried reinstalling all components of the machine. The bios settings (embedded devices) seems to love change to "off" randomly. Also removed from the NVRAM. In any case we got fed up and decided to scrap the raid and use six as individual disks and set it in the devices integrated into the bios in SCSI mode. but this has its own problems too. The OS refuses to see the HDD (Server 2008 R2) we found it difficult to get what we think are non-raid drivers but not knowing. When we use Server2008 x 32 drive we see why some HARD drives which?

Please help we are pressed for time to make it back on as this is our main server.

A disc 5 x 73 GB and a 35GB drive. But the 35 GB disk was exchanged for a 145 GB disk instead

a 6 GB ram too.

We we now prefer not to use raid functions and removed the ram raid, the battery and the key

Microsoft has dropped support for in 2008R2 miniport drivers (that's why 2008 can see them).  Try the bottom of basket:

http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/555/DriverDetails/product/PowerEdge-2850?driverId=KTK5F&osCode=WS8R2&FILEID=3203980242&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=SN

If this does not work, then you will need to do as Geoff suggests, RAID activation and configure each disk in a single drive RAID 0... or use Server 2008.

  • The fastest way to update Equallogic firmware without RAID RAID array initialize?

I wonder if anyone has something they can share on how to upgrade the firmware to a new device (or newly reset) without having to wait for the RAID to initialize completely?

For example, I've reset a PS6100 I just booted and began to update the firmware, however when I get to restart phase it fails because the RAID is only 2% initialized.

Yes, you can reset it.  It will be just destroy everything again.

Re: CLI.  Yes, if you make the configuration of the serial CLI, it will allow you to delay the RAID strategy.

You'll just need assing the ETH0: IP port, then group IP and group name / password.

You will be at the GrpName > prompt.   Then you can transfer the kit firmware once again, run the update to install version 7.0.5.   When she comes back, you can either:

    GrpName > member select raid-policy

If the disks are TB or superior SATA, you really want to do RAID5 if you consider that.   Have chosen RAID6 or RAID50.

    Hello world

hope you might me able to help me, I recently acquired a dell server 6850, she has 1 x 73 GB scsi.

Once I have the bios set up, I guess that the Server 2008 r2 installation disk won't always see the drive and I have to load a driver... one that... because I think I've tried all the... a little at my wits end with it.

    Hello

If the optional components to enable the RAID feature are installed there should be an option in the system for embedded RAID controller BIOS. You can set this option in SCSI mode. Who will set the controller to operate as SCSI controller without RAID functionality.

The controller will use different drivers of the operating system and be detected by the operating system, differently depending on how it is. It will be presented as a PERC RAID mode. If the SCSI mode it will be presented as a SCSI controller. If you go to the download page for the 6850 and change the operating system to 2008R2, he will present what drivers are available for this OS. The section SCSI RAID a PERC drivers for 2008R2, but I do not show a SCSI driver in the section non RAID SCSI. 2008R2 should have a generic SCSI driver built into the taxi driver.

    Thank you

  • Qosmio G30: A few questions about the performance of RAID-0

Hi all, this is my first post here, so please be gentle with me.

I read a lot of posts explaining how to configure striping RAID-0 (and pitfalls) but I've not found anything that describes the performance benefits. It would be great to hear from anyone who has implemented RAID-0, with before and after comparisons of speed.

    The system starts twice?
    Applications load significantly faster?
Is significantly faster when you save large files? Or is it simply not useful?

All information of those in the know would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, Bob.

    Hello

I used the Qosmio G20 a few months ago and I used the operating system on the HARD drive with RAID (a visible HARD disk) and without RAID (two visible HDD)
I didn t notice any speed restrictions and the laptop starts at the same time.

But I noticed different results please share with us ;)

Please go to BIOS to set up a valid RAID configuration. (I tried all variations... but without success... every time the same thing...)
    Press a key to continue...
    end

    HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

    Hello

Ok. You have changed the RAID settings in the BIOS.
In my opinion, you can use the CD of restoration with the default RAID settings in the BIOS.
I mean that the RAID driver on the recovery cd was preinstalled and you have changed the settings RAID in the BIOS for the recovery CD did not work properly.

Do not mix the original Windows CD from Microsoft with the recovery CD. The CD-ROM of Microsoft the RAID driver is not, but on the recovery CD.

I checked the Qosmio manual I found on the Toshiba site.
If you want to install the original WinXP you must safe the RAID driver on the floppy.
In addition the in table settings BIOS RAID, make sure that the built-in HDD is set to 1RAID-0.

The RAID in the BIOS configuration settings are described as follows:
JBOD - parameters without RAID, Windows cannot be installed on this drive except by using the recovery CD/DVDs.
1RAID-0 - compatible set RAID. Windows can be installed on the drive
    2RAID-0 - 0 for 2 hard drives RAID set
RAID 1 -RAID-1 set for 2 hard drives (current only)
UNKNOW - State RAID except the State and settings (State only) above
No. Drive - no hard drive connected

If you accept the settings you must type a string: 1,2,3,4 then enter. At the end you must save all change in the BIOS.

You have suggested that you have the German language. If you want to read the manual in English you can download it from the site.

The version of firmmare is 4.0.20.33131.

Please, it is possible to raid 1 on this storage option enabled?

    Hello Gus_Lenovo

Our equipment does not display the Raid 1 option.
We found it necessary to mark the two disks and create RAID 10 (Yes, RAID 10).
Subsequently the RAID 1 option appears on the menu.

  • Z420 - RAID + AHCI problem

    Hello

using z420, Firmware is up to date, Windows 8 - with the latest drivers from HP Homepage.

Storage mode is set to RAID + AHCI.

Samsung 840 PRO SSD attached to the SATA Port 0 (AHCI 6 GB/s)

    2 x Samsung Barracuda attached to 3 + 4 Port SATA (AHCI / 3 GB/s) running RAID 1

The problem is that my SSD is NOT detected in Mode AHCI (detected as IDE) - and hence the Performance struggles.

When I detach the 2 Barracuda and change the storage Mode in the BIOS to AHCI only (without RAID) and restart Windows (driver AHCI enabled in the registry) the SSD is correctly detected as AHCI and offers a desired speed.

Back to the RAID + AHCI the SSD is again detected in IDE mode.

Is there a problem with RAID + AHCI Mode that the SSD is detected as NO AHCI?

Hope someone can help me with that.

    Thank you

    Andreas Schnederle-Wagner

well - I was able to solve the performance problem now!

I replaced the rest of iaStorA.sys with the iaStorA.sys RST version - and now the system SSD full speed...

I have attached 2 Screenshots - "before.jpg" watch my setup with performance problems. "after.jpg" my current setup with maximum performance!

Only problem left is the name of the SSD paralyzed device - but I hope that it is not a problem...? ! ?

  • R13 (R7 - 371T), Raid 0

I read many reviews which mention that the R13 is configured in Raid 0. I want to buy R 13 (R7 - 371 T-78UV), which indicate the 256 GB drive specifications. This means that this model will be accompanied by a single 256GB drive installed and I have the possibility to add an extra drive in the future in the slot that would have been used to setup for Raid 0? To be more precise, can I add another disk without Raid 0 setting such that I can get the benefit of additional hard disk space for the already 256GB available? I read a review that said that the operating system should be installed again in order to substitute a Raid 0 setting. I did not know that a Raid 0 could be set unless 2 discs were present, but then I'm a novice.

There is a correction to the original answer you provided to have 2 drives to 128 GB with a RAID 0 Configuration. The method has been done on Haswell based aspires. The model that I asked is the Broadwell Aspire model and comes with a single disc of Kingston256GB m2 (Kingston RBU-SNS8100S3256GD) that is customized for Acer after discussion with Kingston. In my view, that the dimensions of the Samsung model correspond to the Kingston so I should be able to clone the drive and use the disc more capacious. I guess I could wipe the Kingston and place it in the secondary location and use it as additional storage since I am not intereted in having a RAID 0 Configuration. Do you agree?

  • R720 can I connect drive sas/sata hard without controller card?

I have a r720 without raid card.  When I plug a ssd or disc of 15 k / 10 k sas on the hotswap backplane, chassis recognizes the drive is connected (I get an orange light and lcd to alert that the disc is removed when I go out).  However, the bios and the operating system does not recognize any disks hotswap (they see only the optical drive connected to the ports on the motherboard sata.

Do I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card?  I didn't need raid functionality.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Shane

    ntshane
Do I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card?  I didn't need raid functionality.

Yes, you must have a controller connected to the bottom of basket. If you have purchased the system without a RAID controller should have a SAS cable that goes from the backplane to the slot of controller S110 chipset on the system board.

You can use the S110 SATA controller on board for communication with backplane. Well, there are limits to the S110 controller, so may not suit your needs. You can probably buy LSI 9207 if you want readers to run in a non-RAID. The other options are a H710 PERC; which you can set the readers to the single drive RAID 0 s. In this State, they function as drives no RAID. You can also get a H310. The H310 supports the RAID mode, but we have added a few features to the H310 who do not find in previous versions of the card. In doing so, it reduced performance when operating in a mode non-RAID.

The reason why I say that you'll probably want another controller than the S110 is because you mentioned that you have SAS disks. The S110 is a single SATA controller. In addition, the S110 is supported up to 4 discs.

To access the BIOS RAID make sure the S110 is turned on in THE system BIOS. In the BIOS, go to SATA settings. In the menu choose the RAID mode. It will turn on the S110 controller. You can configure the drives in the BIOS S110 when booting with the CTL R. I do not know what operating system, you perform the installation, but the S110 is compatible with Windows.

  • Raid PowerEdge r.620 with single hard drive controller

    Hi all

I have Dell PowerEdge r.620 with 1 * 1 TB hard drive, Raid Controller using mini H710... When I try to install Win Server 2008/R2 x 64 the HDD is not detecting, I've read in this forum of the disc cause hard does not detect is pilot raid is not installed, but I don't have that single hard drive is possible to set up raid with single hard drive or I don't have to use raid controller but I still don't understand how to set up the server with no raid...

    Thank you...

    Dimm21
Sorry for the late reply, do you mean raid controller in the server? If you want to say, I always do not install driver coz is new server than i've got...

I want to know, if posibble install raid on one hard drive and how to configure who... Server raid controller is mini H710

    Thanks for your response

Yes, the RAID controller.  One you have?  I'll assume a PERC H710 for now:

The H710 PERC is NOT compatible non-RAID (you cannot use a single disk without RAID)... in order to use a hard drive, you MUST configure a single drive RAID 0.  This must be done in the RAID controller BIOS utility, accessed by pressing CTRL-R during POST when prompted.

Once configured, you need TO load the driver for the operating system, see the drives connected to the controller.

If you have a H310, it SUPPORTS no RAID, so you do not have to configure anything in the RAID controller BIOS, HOWEVER, you MUST always load the RAID controller driver during installation.
