Z420 - RAID + AHCI problem

Hello

using z420, Firmware is up to date, Windows 8 - with the latest drivers from HP Homepage.

Storage mode is set to RAID + AHCI.

Samsung 840 PRO SSD attached to the SATA Port 0 (AHCI 6 GB/s)

2 x Samsung Barracuda attached to 3 + 4 Port SATA (AHCI / 3 GB/s) running RAID 1

The problem is that my SSD is NOT detected in Mode AHCI (detected as IDE) - and hence the Performance struggles.

When I detach the 2 Barracuda and change the storage Mode in the BIOS to AHCI only (without RAID) and restart Windows (driver AHCI enabled in the registry) the SSD is correctly detected as AHCI and offers a desired speed.

Back to the RAID + AHCI the SSD is again detected in IDE mode.

Is there a problem with RAID + AHCI Mode that the SSD is detected as NO AHCI?

Hope someone can help me with that.

Thank you

Andreas Schnederle-Wagner

well - I was able to solve the performance problem now!

I replaced the rest of iaStorA.sys with the iaStorA.sys RST version - and now the system SSD full speed...

I have attached 2 Screenshots - "before.jpg" watch my setup with performance problems. "after.jpg" my current setup with maximum performance!

Only problem left is the name of the SSD paralyzed device - but I hope that it is not a problem...? ! ?

    Hello

I have a newly opened (running the BIOS 3.52) z820 workstation. I would get my RAID configuration Setup program, but I have problems following the steps in the maintenance and Service guide:

    http://h20628.www2.HP.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03424977-1.PDF

More specifically, in the section "Setting up system BIOS", after confirming the RAID + AHCI is defined for the SATA Mode and Post Messages are enabled, then step 4 says that enable 'SATA RAID Option ROM download. There is none of these items under Device Options. I don't see "SAS Option ROM download", which is already activated.

In addition, after leaving the BIOS settings, there is no CTRL + C or CTRL + I, option to enter RAID settings...

Indeed, I checked that there are two drives running on the machine...

    Anyone know what is happening?

  • DC 7600SFF - RAID/AHCI support?

I have 2 HP Compaq dc7600 Base Unit SFF (Small Form Factor) desktop computers.

Question: Can I / these PC can support RAID/AHCI?

    According to HWInfo32/Piriform Speccy:

    PU700AV

    18/05/05 V01.03 1 786 BIOS

    Intel 954G + ICH7 chipset

    (Edition expansion: Chipset - Intel i945P/PL/G/GZ (Intel 945 G chipset), Southbridge - Intel 82801 GB (ICH7/R))

If necessary, I can Flash the BIOS with the latest version.

Included in the process of upgrading these two machines from Vista to Win7 Pro (1 Vista Home Basic, Vista Business 1),

I plan to spend the only current SATA mechanical HDDs to SSDS - possibly in RAID O and use a scheduled backup of Win7 Pro; the mianboard has 2 SATA ports, DVD will take place over the IDE.

I will remove the original hard drives and installation/upgrade Win7 Pro to fresh hard/SSD drives; I should rush through this, I can simply re-install the original disks and get them online in the near future.

    Thanks for the pointers.

Reference: current SATA hard drives are displayed as ATA/ATAPI-7, is it a default / "legacy" translation? vs SATAII?

    Hello:

There is no drive controller settings you can change on the dc7600.

There is no BIOS update that will add RAID or AHCI support on the dc7600.

The first model to offer RAID was the dc7700 and the first to propose THAT RAID/AHCI was the dc7900.

The chapter of installation in the manual for the dc7700 indicates there are 3 options (AHCI/RAID and IDE), but I have not found a dc7700 who had all 3 parameters.

I have owned or worked on all models dc7xxx HP released, so I'm very familiar with them.

  • Dell Inspiron 1721 Win 7 ultimate upgrade on Vista ultimate. ATI Raid driver problems.

I install Win 7 Ultimate on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition for my sister.  Although I am appalled by his duty to pay 200 more of the money it has paid to buy Vista Ultimate (for which she won Bitlocker and the possibility to join the areas, I have the following problem: she has a lot to gain a little and there are still problems in the installation of the OS.)  It would be good, at least, since it paid the price to have copies of the disks him were sent and more download (which I work with)

I am trying to install the upgrade from 32-bit to Windows 7 on my laptop Dell Inspiron 1721 and I get an error that says I need to update my ATI AHCI Compatible RAID Driver. I went into the device drivers update as described in the instructions and tried to update the driver but it says I have the latest version of the driver for it. So I tried to restart my laptop and represented the upgrade installation and received the same error message.

Can you advise me on how to solve the problem.  She has spent a lot of money and, at least, deserves to make it work!

You should check with the system manufacturer (Dell) and AMD/ATI possible as they write drivers.

  • 2008 mac Pro Apple Raid card problems, help!

Hello, I have a mac pro 2008 with a raid set up. I want to get rid of all old raid together upwards and instead put a new ssd in the first Bay. The computer cannot read it because I think that it is always configured as a raid. Does anyone know how to make the available drive bays to new readers? You're help would be highly appreciated. I want to take the Apple Raid card so I can have an additional PCI port and I also want to get out the discs four raid. Just so I can put in a single ssd! Thank you very much.

When you remove the Apple RAID card, readers who were searched will be unreadable. You need to make backups before time, because there is no way known to them read differently.

There is a data cable, called the iPass cable connected to the motherboard to the RAID card. You must remove this cable when you remove the RAID card and reconnect the plug corresponding on the motherboard. Once you do this, you get four bays returned as SATA bays and can install any drives that you like. The problem with a lot of SSDS is that they are 2.5-inch form factor drives and may not fit on a standard sled. Users have used an IcyDock (in the 2008 version and earlier versions) or the newer technology adaptadrive:

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/item/NewerTech/ADPTADRV/

... to get the alignment and attached straightened.

  • Alienware 17 - R3, RAID/AHCI

    Hello

I noticed in the bios that the original for two HARD drives I have is set to RAID.

PM951 NVME & Seagate HARD drive

I'm a little confused, cause I thought that this laptop doesn't have any RAID function, and if she did, why are two hard drives so inconsistent and configured in RAID? If anyone has any information on this, please share, thanks!

The operating mode default SATA for any type of disk configuration is called "RAID", but this does not automatically mean that your hard disks are in fact in a RAID situation, because it might suggest - it only means that the storage is controlled by "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" (TSRI).

You can check the status of your two drives by clicking on "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" at the bottom of the section "Advanced", which will bring you to a screen where they are listed as "NO physical disks RAID". Here you can select one of them to see more details like the Port, model and serial number, size, status (RAID or NON-RAID) controller (AHCI or NVMe) Type and Controller Interface (SATA or PCIe).

Since the FIRST includes AHCI drivers both NVMe, you won't have to set up or install drivers specific for disks, regardless of your hardware configuration, now or in the future, as long as you keep the default "RAID" value setting.

  • RAID 5 problem with R410 Perc 6 / i controller

I have a Setup RAID 5 on a Dell PowerEdge R410 (4-300 GB Hard Drives).  I'm moving hard disk of 300 GB to 600 GB hard drives, so I can increase the available storage.  I replaced the drive in the Groove #2 with a 600 GB drive first, because he was already in a failed State.  After the reconstruction, I waited til the next day for the replacement of the other drives 600 GB drives.  When I replaced the drive at location 0 #, the drive into the #2 Groove entered the predicted state failure during rebuild.  So, after the reconstruction, I replaced the drive in the #2 Groove a 2nd time with another 600 GB hard drive.  During this rebuild, the reader Slot #0 also entered a predicted failure State.  So I let the server run for a few days.  And now the two Slot #0 and #2 (the ones with the new 600GO drives) are in a State of predicted failure.  I can't believe that I would have 3 bad drives in a row.  I use all Dell certified readers.  Can advise you, what do I do then?  Update the firmware? Going back to the old drive?  It is a critical production server, so I need to minimize all the time as much as possible.

    Thanks in advance,

    Byron

    Hello

A predictive failure is reported on a drive when there is excessive bad blocks on the disk. Since you have rebuilt the drive in the existing table, most likely other readers had bad blocks that were copied to the new drive. What operating system do you use? There is not a way to get readers off predictive failure, once they are reported. There is potentially a much larger problem with the table. I recommend you make a backup of all data files.

  • UCS C22 M3 software RAID LSI problem with hard drive

    Hello

I post here because I searched many hours for a stupid problem.

I have a Cisco UCS C22 M3 with soft RAID LSI MagicRAID.
I have two hard disk of 1 TB.
I create a RAID array with the type 1 (mirror).

When I run the installation of VMware ESXi 5.1 U1 I see the RAID array, but the two discs.
I think that it is a driver problem.
So, I install special with an iso VMware in the VMware Web site for Cisco server.
I have test with ESXi 5.0 and 5.1, and 5.1 U1 but it's the same problem.

I try to remove the RAID array and to install esx on disc one monkey. Installation works well, but in the boot menu, I can't boot from a hard disk. I don't know why I search with UEFI and she is disabled.

I test with windows 2012, and 2008R2 to check if its working but in install I don't see also hard drive or the RAID array.
I go to Cisco and download the driver of the 2G for VMware Linux and Windows.
I try inserting the driver in windows install, but does not.
I think that the driver for a hardware RAID card and software.

I have try to disable the LSI RAID in the advanced bios "SouthBridge". After I disabled I don't know how I can do to start on the hard drive.
When I go to the start menu (F6) I see absolutely nothing in drive.

I test this on two Cisco server.

I can't know what I can do now. I take a working installation tomorrow and nothing.

I join you a photo of the boot sequence LSI.

    Thank you very much.

    Stephane,

For what I understand, you use the RAID controller integrated, therefore, these drivers will not work you:

    -LSI 92xx

    -LSI 106xE

    -LSI 2008 M

    -INS 3081E-R

    -LSI8708EM2

    -LSI 9201< all="" of="" the="" above="" are="" not="" the="" controller="" you="">

    -CISO 1225 x< this="" is="" for="" the="" vic="">

    -CISCO P81E< this="" is="" for="" the="" 1st="" generation="" of="" vic="" cards,="" so="" definitely="" not="" a="" raid="">

Pilots are organized into top level by operating system folders, and each folder of OS has a structured series hierarchically who become more specific subfolders so that you can find the exact drivers you need. When you navigate to a folder containing the drivers, it will contain also one or several README files that explains what are these drivers in particular.

Here is an example of the structure of folder for Windows:

Windows    ChipSet       vendor          blade-model-number             OS-version-number                All                ia64                Lang (contains language subfolders)                Vista                x64

    You need to look for: /< OS > / storage/Intel/C600 /.< if="" you="" are ="" doing="" the="" installation="" of="" the="" os="" through="" the="" kvm,="" you="" first="" need="" to="" un-mount="" the="" os="" .iso="" image="" to="" mount="" the="" drivers,="" once="" the="" drivers="" are="" done,="" un-mount="" the="" drivers="" and="" mount="" again="" the="" os="" .iso="">

If it does not, you better open a TAC case that will allow us to put in place an additional troubleshooting Webex meeting.

  • RAID configuration problems

I am in the process of setting up a new pc, with (among others):

    -Asus P9X79

    -Asus GTX 660 Ti TOP

    -Samsung 830 256 GB SSD

    -4 Seagate Barracuda 2 TB

Windows is installed, Production Premium 5.5 and Norton Internet Security. All fully updated. It works perfectly, even if the performance of the disk should be improved a bit.

But when I try to change the SATA setting in the BIOS to ACHI to RAID, Windows won't start. BSOD a short while after the animated Windows Startup logo appears (code 0000007 b, no description whatsoever except a CHKDSK /F is recommended).

What's not? Have I forgotten a simple step or make me a more serious problem? I haven't started yet by selecting the disks for the raid still (planning to 2 of the 4 Barracudas in a RAID0 configuration).

    Any ideas are appreciated.

I tried the 8 available only 2 x pci-e slots. makes no difference.

    Baz,

I tend to agree with Scott and Bill it could be the motherboard.

You know I have the same card controller (12 port one) and I use the older Spinpoint F1, which are a bit slower than the F3 and my HD Tach results like this:

Find it me hard to believe that give two cards this boredom and that is why I think that Scott and Bill are on the right track.

  • RAID configuration PROBLEM

    Hello

I have a little trouble on a server R610 in RAID5 with 3 disks and RAID H700 card.

The 1st disk in "Foreign" State, the second in 'Fail' and the 3rd en 'Oneline '.

    The virtual disk 'offline '.

Can I do a clear at the level of the 'foreign config' pour rebuild the 1st disk or DO I wait to replace the drive en "failure"?

    Thank you for your response.

    Laurent_Rio,

The first chose you want to do is import the foreign configuration on the disk. (See below pour steps)

This should use the reader to go online after its importation, then proceed to rebuild the defective disk.

Do not erase the foreign, low - configuration you import it. In the BIOS of the controller RAID (Ctrl + R) highlight the controller of the group which includes the virtual disk, para on F2 and is the foreign configuration, then to IMPORT FOREIGN. After the failed drive can automatically start rebuilding, but if not then start the system and see if the data is accessible. If Yes, then you can get a backup, and then launch the reconstruction after.

Let me know how it goes

    *******************************************************************************

The first thing you want to do is to IMPORT the foreign configuration on the disk. (see below for the procedure)

This will cause I hope the reader to go online after it is important and then proceed to rebuild on the failed drive.

Do NOT clear the foreign configuration, remember to import.

Controller raid BIOS (Ctrl-R) highlight the group controller that includes the virtual disk, hit F2 and select foreign Config, and then select IMPORT FOREIGN. After that the failed drive can automatically start to rebuild, but if not then start the system and see if the data is accessible.
