SCXI - 1104C

Hello

Got a system running with a SCXI module - 1104C. I have now some errors of measurement that I never had before.

As emergency equipment, I have a SCXI-1104 (without 'C') module...  It is directly compatible with the system? Can I Exchange

the 1104C for 1104 to eliminate the demultiplexer fault?

Beck777

Hi Beck777,

You can find the manual for the module SCXI-1104 and SCXI-1104, on the link below:

http://www.NI.com/PDF/manuals/322147b.PDF

If you read the frequently asked questions, he explained that the only difference between the two is the cutoff frequency of the filter. He also says that NEITHER-DAQ 6.7 or a later version is required for the SCXI - 1104C whereas you need NEITHER-DAQ version 6.5.1 or later for the 1104 ordinary. If you have the correct version of NOR-DAQ, it should work, but beware of the cutoff frequency. You may find yourself with a lot of noise on your signal.

Kind regards

  • Measures of CSR with SCXI - 1104 C + SCXI1300?

    Hello

I have a module SCXI - 1104C for monitoring of asymmetric tension. I know that the SCXI module has entered differential only, so I assumed that I would need to connect each each negative terminal to ground.

However, I have noticed that if I connect Signal - SCXI_ChassisGND and Signal + SCXI_Ch0 +, I always get the correct reading. Reading fleet when I disconnect Signal - SCXI_ChassisGND.

Who am I observe here? Can I use the SCXI - 1104C for CSR measures, reliably connecting Signal - to ChassisGND?

    Thank you!

    Hello JKSH,

Consider the connection to the SCXI-1104 where...

CH0 + is connected to the Signal.

CH0 - is connected to anything

It is an unsecured configuration where Ch0 - is just floating to what voltage it was finally. It's probably somewhere around chassis ground because it was finally connected to the chassis ground. However, if you have touched the Ch0 - with tension at random, your measurement would be disturbed and a wrong level.

When Ch0 - is connected to a reference voltage instead, we guarantee level and can acquire valid tensions.

    I hope this helps!

  • Change the type of sensor pressure strain for SCXI-1314

    Hello!

I would like to ask how to change the type of strain sensor.

I use SCXI-1314 and one of my pressure sensor is a type of 4-wire. (Output 100mV, excitement: 10vdc)

, but I want to replace the sensor by another type of current output type. (Output 4 ~ 20mV, excitement: 12-30Vdc)

I checked the output voltage cable 4. (Defined as full-bridge OR max)

    Power + = Ex +.

    Food - = Ex-

    CH+        =  S+

    CH-         =  S-

However, I don't know how to connect the type 2-wire with SCXI-1314.

In addition, I don't have enough experience on the types of bridge (bridges and whole, quarter half)

Can you explain what I need to do?

One thing you migth try is to put a 5 Ohm resistor in the current loop. causing a drop in voltage 100mV on resistance, however check the soil conditions.  Since you will need a new calculation of sensitivty sensor anyway you can use a resistor 4.7 Ohm or 2 10 ohms in parallel... just find a good match between your 1314 input voltage range and the 4-20mA.

And you will have an external power supply for the sensor.

  • SCXI-1581 reading bad weather

    Hello

I'm an intern summer and I'll try to find some help with the SCXI-1581 module. We had a major failure during the test of an engine and it damaged some of the test equipment. We have replaced all that appears to be damaged and tried to restart the test system. Everything worked fine except for this add-on. I use a 100ohm RTD to test the different channels and I get a constant temperature of evil. Instead of the ambient temperature from 26 to 27 degrees Celsius, I myself am-243 degrees Celsius-244. It seems as if there could be a scaling factor that is causing temperatures to record these low values.

As part of my process of troubleshooting, I took the module SCXI-1581 the machine damaged and replaced by the same module from another machine. Temperature readings read correctly for all channels that I tested. Then I took the right module and put it back in the machine to work and he still read appropriate temperatures. With this small made check I took the bad module and placed in the machine to work and ended up reading the bad weather. At this point, I had concluded that the module must be bad and replaced the good module back into the machine to work. As a final check, I tested again temperatures and good module is reading the same bad temperatures as another module.

I have trouble believing that mearly placing bad module into the working machine was sufficient to damage the good module as well. So my question is, is it possible to adjust the scale factor or the SCXI-1581 module needs to be replaced? Is there something else I can do for these modules work?

I can not provided enough information, and for that I apologize. I'm not familiar with this equipment at 100%, but I'll do my best to provide additional information that may be required.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.

My boss and I looked into it more and found the two cards to work very well. The error was in the RTD that we use to test the card.

  • entry of mV/psi for SCXI-1102 using the SCXI-1308 module?

Is there a way to physically connect a mV/psi signal to an SCXI-1102 module, which also uses a block to connect SCXI-1308? What I've read, the terminal block can use only a signal 4-20 or 0-20 Ma, right? I don't see the pins that the terminal block plug to use for output of the pressure sensor mV.

Thank you very much for the help!

    TQ

    Hi FMC_Pumptest,

The 1308 Terminal is designed for the current input. You are right that you have entered for 0-20 mA and 4-20 signals my with this block.

  • SCXI-1520

    Hello

I have a 6036E PCI data acquisition card. I want to use the SCXI 1520 Signal conditioner for my measurements. What are the accessories necessary for the installation of the SCXI-1520 module.

    Priyank

    Hi Priyankbit,

You would need to have a SCXI chassis with 1349 SCXI with cable Pin E Series DAQ 68 - 68 (SH68-68-EP) to connect the SCXI-1520 and connected to the PCI-6036E. You may need to have the connection to the SCXI-1520 block to connect your sensors to the SCXI-1520.

In detail, you can consult the SCXI page.

  • How can I filter the noises of thermocouple using a TC-2095 and SCXI - 1102c?

    Hi all

I currently have four TC - 2095 s connected to the SCXI - 1102c inside an SCXI-1001 chassis cards. These thermocouples are floating and I get a good amount of noise (400 Hz 3 phases and same 60 Hz noise) when we turn on some equipment such as fans, and fans. Using this current set up, how can I filter the noise? Or I would need to put in place a new hardware configuration (e.g., the SCXI-1102 cards)?

    Hi RALoo,

The 1102 C has a lowpass filter with a cutoff at 10 kHz frequency, so you will not be able to filter into the material with your current configuration.

Your first option is to use a software filter.  LabVIEW has several functions that do this. More information can be found here: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361J-01/lvanls/filter_vis/

The second option would be to change to SCXI 1102 cards as you suggest.  The low-pass filter of the 1102 was a cut-off adjustable to 2 Hz frequency, which will stop the noise of 400 and 60 Hz don't affect your readings.

  • SCXI-1100 filter capacitors

We have a number of modules SCXI-1100 with the filter capacitors installed in C1, C5, C9 and C10.  All plants look like they were made at the factory.  He is, or was it never (circa 1996-2000), an option to order the SCXI-1100 module with installed capacitors?

We will be deploying a number of different configurations with this configuration, so it would be easier if we could order like that future acquisitions, rather than install the plugs for each build.

    Thank you.

    Hello, CoryM!

After investigating a little further, it doesn't seem to be a command option for the filter pre-installed C1, C5 and C10 capacitors. Note, however, that C9 looks like it would have been a capacitor factory, since only 1, 5 and 10 (among others) are left free for modification of customer. This is noted on page 26 (2-9) of the following PDF:

User Guide NI SCXI 1100 - the user-defined input filter capacitors

This is the case, you will need to install them for each module. Please let me know if you have any other questions on this point - I'll be happy to help you!

  • SCXI-1314 ground wire

    Hello

We try to understand what position signal name to use for our ground wire. Should we attach ground wires to safety ground? Alternatively, do we even need to use the ground on a fullbridge gauge wire?

    Thank you!

Gauges of full-bridge and load cells have usually 4-wire, Signal +, Signal-, excitement +, and excitement - these four sons are all that are needed to get a reading from the gauge.

Connections for these sons are detailed in the manual of the SCXI-1314 module

    http://www.NI.com/PDF/manuals/322859a.PDF

If there is a separate ground of the sensor can have a shielded cable. The reference guide for wiring here to learn more about review of termination and noise shield.

    Field guide for wiring

    http://www.NI.com/white-paper/3344/en/

In my experience where to connect the shielding is a very debated topic, but my understanding is as follows.

IF the sensor is grounded, connect the shield to the sensor ONLY.

Connect the shielding to BOTH the sensor and the chassis of the device of data acquisition on the ground IF the sensor is floating.

  • get the MAX to recognize the SCXI modules

Hello, try to keep it short, we strive for Labview 5.1 running on the XP machine, until we get new set kit to date in the future (current NT machines fail). I tried NiDAQ 7.1 8.1 drivers with a PCI-MIO-16-4th card in a Dell optiplex 755, and the current sticking point is to configure the system via MAX to specify the type of chassis and modules. Modules are not found automatically, and entered manually the results into the slots being declared empty, on a test of the chassis (chassis SCXI-1001). SCXI modules we are SCXI-1100, SCXI-1162HV, SCXI-1124 2 x and 2 x SCXI-1160. What should I do to make this work? Different driver? I'm not at all familiar with the inner workings of Labview!  Thank you.

    Rob,

Thanks for the reply. The problem was more the cable SCSI detaches from the end of SCXI chassis (these connections seem very inclined to come drifting). The modules then self populated, and the system works now. The system worked very well for ten years, but the old Compaq PC fail now and we have only a few replacement Dell, but of course they come with Windows XP, while the ran Compaqs WinNT, it has so been interesting trying to get Labview 5.1 running on the new boxes with the old cards DAQ until we get funding for new cards / Labview 2010 / Teststand. Problem solved for now!

  • SCXI-1600 drivers

Just discovered that 64-bit to the scxi 1600 drivers do not exist.  Place a service call to see if they are working on it.   Is there a third-party driver that I can buy?  It's really ridiculous.  Must use a 32-bit computer to make it work.  Really disappointed.

What I understand, the device is unique and the design is old and not recommended for new designs. You can also request support on the exchange of ideas, but I would not hold much hope, unfortunately.

  • Problems VeriStand 2011 RT and SCXI-1540

    Good afternoon

As in the topic, we have problems with our card module SCXI-1540 that we use to acquire a mixed selection of RVDT and resolvers.

Specifically, we have our facility on Veristand 2011 on a target of RT who has a device custom control map SCXI chassis PXI-1050 and the NI PXI-6221 card, everything is fine but every now and then the map 1540 suddenly start showing a rolling measure of angle for resolution programs.

By checking with an oscilloscope, resolvers entries are good, but we notice that when the event occurs, the excitement somehow pass set 5 kHz to 10 kHz and even by the cancellation of the deployment and redeploy the project and verify that the property node DAQmx channel used to set the frequency of excitation is the correct setting of 5 kHz and does not return an error There is no way to get the channel back to 5 kHz, and it remains stuck at 10 kHz. The only way to be able to control the frequency of excitation again is through a power cycle of the RT/chassis.

We checked also by adding debug code in the custom feature event is the channel of sin or cos channel starts showing a rolling measure voltage so our measure of angle begins to roll too.

So far, this behaviour seems to have manifested only with programs of resolution that we mainly tested those and synchronize us excitement between a sin / cos pair.

    Please notify

I just noticed that I never gave a solution for this.

The problem was current flyback to another causing system glitches of EMI on the lines of resolvers somehow mess with map of 1540, which essentially stopped decoding of the resoulvers of entry correctly, I added a Reset custom device close the file and that fixed the not being able to get out of the excitement of 10 Khz on the redeployment. However the final fix was adding flyback diodes to the tokill power system high seeds. So beware of your configuration as module SCXI-1540 cards seems to be sensitive to such events.

I don't know if this is the best place for this, but...

I have some PCB custom this escape several SCXI-1130 modules in SCXI-1001 chassis connections.  Since I don't want the PCBS come A) loose, or B) cause of excessive fatigue on the module connector, I made a support to climb.  I want to connect on the rails of the SCXI chassis through the openings in the panels before modules.  To do this, I need appropriate screws.

I think that the rails are M2.5, but I don't know (and I don't want to order and wait for the hardware, only to discover that I guessed wrong).  Can anyone confirm that the mounting on the SCXI-1001 chassis rails require screws m 2.5?

  • SCXI-1378, R8 - R39 riders shorting terminal block.

I am starting a small passage / measurement of resistances 10 devices inside a cold room project.  I'm using an SCXI chassis. The chassis contains a SCXI-1121 (4 Ch isolation AMPS) with a block to connect SCXI-1325 and an SCXI-1130 (Switch Module) module with a block to connect SCXI-1378.  My question concerns the SCXI-1378 connection block.  (Unknown to me) someone (I'm sure this isn't the factory) places to the cavaliers shorting terminals located between the C0 - R8 - R39 C63 live termnals?  Is there documentation describing the R8 - R39 features available?  If not, anyone know why they are there?

    Hi Glen,

The 1378 configures the 1130 until matrix 4 x 32 2-wire or 4 x 64 1-wire.  Weld through the 1378 zero ohm resistors effectively makes the 1379, which is an 8 x 32 1-wire matrix.  Note that even if this will work, we do not have clients changing a 1378 in a 1379.  I recommend you unsolder 0 Ohm shunts and let 1378 that had been initially shipped.
