SDS 3 and the restoration of the system

I remember when this case came in the newsgroups.
I was wondering if there was ever any solution or a direct link between the entries of the SDS in the system restore works not when a point of the SDS was used to do a restore.
We had to clean SR and restart to fix the problem.
I found some discussions in these forums, but not definitive answers.

Software Distribution Service 3.0 (which was apparently part of an update of Microsoft) deploys the system on my system restore points, sometimes several times a day, which do not work to restore and seem to be preventing my restoration of the system to work, does anyone know how to remove it?
I'm on windows XP.   Google searches showed other people with the same problem but no clear solution.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Words

The fist link - the writer not uderstand what is the Restore Point SDS... waiting for the mystery to solve (there are no mystery), ZoneAlram (and other antiwhatever applications) is / are known to interfere with the SR, simply because MSE and ZA are whatever it is does not mean that your system is clean, 'weird' things , there is no "uninsall for SDS 3.0, as he waits to see if the SDS will reinstall itelsef.»  This is not how it works at all.

Then he comes back and update more later saying that he waited two weeks and did not saw if the mysterious 3.0 SDS reinstall itself, so the mystery has been solved or whatever the problem solved.  There is no restore SDS points more because he unintalled MSE during his trials and errors troubleshooting.  As soon as he gets an Autoamtic update, it will be another SDS Restore Point.

If he looked in the newspapers, he would have known what were the Points of restoration of the SDS.

It does not (maybe it does now).  There is no mystery.

The suspense is too sickening.

Poster telelogiciel google 3.0 and realized it was a Microsoft program? This is not true.

Restore points don't launch and everything has been tried?  The poster not to uninstall your Norton or McAfee products correctly and you have problems now?  Restore points only are not supposed to launch the third party tools known to conflict with SR No were not uninstalled properly and everything was not considered.

There is no connection, no error message... "he works all simply" with no indication of what does not work way.

Contain all of these links are errors in steering, auto injuries, misunderstandings and misinterpretations.

A control point is something different.  XP will want to restore all 122400 seconds (24 hours) a new Point.  It is also configurable.  If 24 hours requires no restore points and system is idle long enough (no surf, no email, no keyboard, no disk, no malware scan activity, etc.) XP will make a new Restore Point and it will be called a system checkpoint.

If MSE caused a Restore Point 23.9 Twitter.com, you won't see from Checkpoint System because it is not yet time for one.

If you have installed MSE and it updates at least once every 24-hour cycle, you can never see another check system since the SDS of the MSE update will restart the 24-hour clock for when creating an automatic Restore Point.  Disable or uninstall MSE and you will start to review the points of checking your system at least every 24 hours (if your system is not afflicted).

System checkpoints occur once a month or two - they happen when they are supposed to arrive and when they should occur.

Knowing that XP wants to create a new RP every 24 hours (but won't if your system is not idle), your system could be on, but not idle long enough and then you close before the automatic PR can be created, you can go to all the days or weeks with no restore points in your calendar.  This does not mean that there is a problem.  The great divide is because you never leave your system sitting pretty long so that the automatic create Restore Point.

On my laptop, I've never a Restore Point the weekend because I don't use that computer is jerking.  It takes about 20 minutes of inactivity for my 'idle timer' to kick, but he never gets a chance.  My laptop will sometimes 2 weeks with no restore point (I do not use MSE for nothing).  If I just turn on my laptop and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, and there has been no PR in the last 24 hours, a new RP will be created as it is supposed to be.

If you see a KB update in a Restore Point, you have installed, not the component of the SDS automatic update.  Even if you install a KB option, it will appear as a SDS 3.0 Restore Point.  What happened when that RP was created is in the log files.  There is no mystery.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

  • Professional Windows XP search page and the System Restore page do not work.

I recently did a clean install of Windows XP Professional on a laptop. I then upgraded to SP 3. I wanted to update some of my drivers and when I tried to open the page the system restore to create a restore point, the page is empty.  Later when I had questions, I tried to do a search and I have basically the same question. I can do another clean install if I have to, but I try to avoid it if I can.  Thank you in advance for any help I can get.

No matter what media you used to install XP.

You don't have symptoms consistent with a need to run sfc/scannow.

If sfc/scannow solves your problems, I'll send you (or your charitable organization preferred) US $100.

That Microsoft technical support engineers constantly not to mention, is that if you have installed SP3 from a download and your XP installation CD bootable real is not SP3 (what is?) running sfc/scannow will upset you constantly to insert your installation of SP3 CD and you will last anything else than a big frustrating waste of your time.  It will not help you in any case.

@Microsoft support Engineer Imran M: Please explain why you think the sfc/scannow will correct this problem.

Also, you have none of the symptoms consistent with a need to run the fix it.  Next, you need not to "check if it helps" - you need your fix.

In fact, I've recreated the problem on my system and run the fix it and here is what he said:

We did not identify any problems and that's why no fixes have been applied.

Here is my usual full answer to the symptoms you describe.  If you have not been on the Internet with your own installation, your system should not have malware on it (yet), but I have at least "would fix the immediate question" as shown below by the three mentioned DLLs:

If your system restore page display only the title bar 'System Restore' or your user accounts settings page don't watch the title bar of "User accounts" and the screen where information needs to be is an empty white box, and/or your Windows Search function shows just Rover (the animated search dog)...

System Restore is a frequent target of attacks by malicious software.  If SR was working before and is now afflicted, run some scans and then fix any problems.

Remember that the system restore is not a time machine.

Your system is currently or has been reached by malicious software.

You can now fix the symptom and scanning for malware later, or you can now find malware and fix the remains later.  I recommend just fixing the symptom of the empty page and forget to do the scans.  The symptom of the problem of fixing and fixing the problem are two different things.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans using own it may also be necessary to re-register some dll (or you can do this part first, but you still have to do the scans).

    Just fix the immediate question:

Looks like your file jscript.dll became somehow not registered so you can re-record it.

There are probably a few other things that do not work you know yet, so fix them all at once.

Re-registration of these DLLs is correct, even if they do not need renewal.  You can also re-register the dll before the scans that can solve the problem, but the scans are always recommended.

Click Start, run, and in the box enter orders following one at a time.  Click the OK button to execute each command one at a time.

    regsvr32 jscript.dll
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll
    regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll (it's a look of slash)

The last order for mshtml load the DLL but can also contain a harmless warning depending on your environment.

    Hello

"I restored the system to today."

What do you mean by that?

You use the system restore to put the settings of the computer to an earlier Date, doesn't not to hand over to today.

System restore only "puts away" remove photos.

It has nothing to do with the data files.

And if you mean the system recovery to factory (like new) settings, which erases the hard drive clean of everything.

  • Errors in Windows 7 with Windows Help and Support, network connection, and the system restore

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 (4 years), sometimes overheated with heavy use. Normally I can cool, restart and wear. However, my laptop just overheated and closes, and this time I encounter all sorts of problems.
First of all, after the reboot, I noticed that the system does not automatically connected to my Wi - Fi (it does not even recognize the available network).
Secondly, in attempting to fix the network problem, I clicked on the link "Troubleshooting", only to receive the following error message "an unexpected error has occurred. ID of Package cannot continue the Troubleshooting Wizard": unknown path: C:\Windows\diagnostics\system\networking error Code: 0x8007045A

Third, because troubleshooting did not work, I thought I'd try the help and Support Windows to search for answers. However, when I opened it, I received the following message: "Windows Help and support has encountered a problem. You might be able to solve the problem by restarting Windows Help and Support. If the problem persists, proceed as follows: 1. search the online help on the Windows website.  2. contact your manufacturer of computers or Microsoft Support for assistance. There could be a problem with one or more Windows system files or folders on your computer. "Because I could not connect to the internet, these suggestions and links were useless.

Fourthly, as I failed to locate the problem, I tried a system restore. However, after he appeared to run (took about 30 min) and restarted Windows, the following message appeared: "system restore was not entirely successful. The system files and settings on your computer did not change. Details: System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an antivirus program is running on the computer. Temporarily disable your antivirus and restart System Restore. An unspecified error occurred during system restore. (0x80070005)
You can try the system restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method. For more information, see what is recovery? "I have disable my antivirus (AVG), tried and received the same error message.

Short physically all my backup files and restore to factory settings, I think I've exhausted what I can do.

    * EDIT * after scouring the site, I found a suggestion to run the tool via the command prompt System File Checker (see thread here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/no-internet-connection-on-this-computer-after/83fb22c9-712e-467d-9a68-f8d52dde9bcb), which I did and found some corrupted files. The following response appears: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and repaired successfully details can be found in the CBS.log newspaper... File system changes will take effect after the next reboot. "After restarting, the internet connection problem seems to have been resolved. Service work. and Windows Help and Support also works! I hope it helps someone else!

    Hi Lorenacadi,

Thanks for sharing of the resolution. Your efforts and patience are highly appreciated.

In addition to the emission of heat:

Two things inside the laptop generate heat - power (in the place where the power cord plugged in) and the processor.  The CPU has a heater and a fan to help disperse the heat and keep the CPU at a reasonable temperature.  Hot air is sent on the vents, and air at room temperature between in other events.
What happens generally is dust forms near the vents, near the Airways within the laptop computer which lead to the mouths and on the CPU fan itself.  All these sources of dust cause airflow slow down, so that the hot air lingers and gets even hotter.  To resolve this problem, you will need to take the laptop apart and 'very good' to clean the dust and the CPU fan.

Another potential source of heat which would be composed of dust problem might be software related.  More 'work' the CPU must do the most energy is needed and therefore more heat is released.

Keep us in case you have questions/suggestions more associated with Windows.

  • Missing icons and the system restore failed with the error code: 0xc0000022

More a cosmetic problem, but it is annoying me.  I wonder if anyone can help.

I'll try to explain what happened and explains the steps that I tried to solve.

At the launch of windows, after connection, some icons began to miss on the desktop.  Below, these appear to be programs of Microsoft and Apple.

If I choose to properties and then change icon... from the office, I get the following error:

Icons for mainly products of Microsoft and Apple are also missing from the start menu.

However, if I go into properties here, the change icon... button is grayed.

It happened once before.  I tried to run the system restore.  The last time I did this the system restore said have failed - however, the icons were restored.  I tried the same thing again once, however the system restore has not (yet), but this time, the icons are still missing.

I tried to create a new user, but the new account also has the missing icons.  I also ran a full virus scan (Avast) and Windows Defender, but they found nothing.

While not a huge problem, it's annoying, and I wonder if it points to a bigger hidden problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.
