Seagate Barracuda disc not recognized by Win7 installation disc

Hello!  I'm trying to get and set the password on Aspire M34706 brother, who uses a Seagate Barracuda ST3500413AS hard drive.  (Yes, I know, it should have a password recovery disk, but does not.)  This player is driven by the firmware of the bus and doesn't seem to have a driver software available.

The problem I have is, I can't seem to find the driver file or equivalent for this disc, or a software driver I could load from a removable media.  So I can't answer or edit user, not through msconfig.exe, do not use a recovery program, nada.  I get in what concerns the 'load drivers", so I'm stuck.  I can view the contents of the hard drive, but I don't know the path or the name of the driver that I need to load.

Anyone have any idea of the file name and path (in a standard-issue of Win 7 Acer OEM installation)?  Or any other idea how to access the necessary file?

Hi, guys and girls!  I managed to solve my problem without having to do a restore.

After much searching the Acer site, I found packets of driver, zipped, current drivers for all their models of computers over the last 3 years.  I downloaded, unpacked to a flash drive, booted from the installation disc of Win7 drivers flash player, and after all that, with a minor hack, has been able to activate the hidden administrator account and use it to reset the password for my brother.  This last part lasted only 10 minutes.

The problem of not being able to write to the hard disk was because my brother does not run the firmware upgrade for the main bus, which I have now taken care of.  So now I'm a happy camper, he is a happy camper and all right.

That's all, just letting you know in the case of someone of another encounter a similar hard drive problem: full driver packages are available from Acer tech support site, just search on your specific model number.

  • Discs non powered hub USB not recognized by Win7

I have a HP dv7 works Win7. An external hub in which is connected to a powered external disc and three-disc powered only by USB.

Until the last Windows Update or so all readers were recognized and listed in Windows Explorer with the appropriate drive letters. Now, as well on the original hub, I had (Staples brand) and a new, I bought the hub of thought had failed (plugable 7 port USB2-HUB-AG7), the player plugged into the hub continues to be recognized by Win7, but none of the non-powered drives are.

If I unplug the hub and plug the 4 external drives into the same USB port on the HP computer previously used by the hub, they are all recognized by the appropriate drive letters and all files are visible.

    This sequence tells me:

    1. the USB port on my laptop isn't the problem: any connected external drive port is correctly read by Win7.

    2. the hub is not the problem: the probability of a former pole and a new hub failed in exactly the same way is small.

    3. There is something different about external drives with independent power supply and USB-powered drives it is relevant.

    Hello Nora,.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help you.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

    1. Do you remember the number of Windows update that you installed before the show?
    2. Have you tried plugging the hub in all other ports? If yes was the result even?
    3. Have you tried to use the hub on another computer? If yes was the same result, and if not please try to do and check out the State.
    4. What is the make and model no HUB?

According to your description, it seems that any external device working properly as well as ports. As you mentioned that the question remains her even after plugging the new hub means there may be a chance that the necessary drivers for the hub work is missing or damaged. So I would ask update you the drivers and see if it helps.

  • 750 GB Seagate replacement drive not recognized in my computer, but show up in the BIOS

I'm sorry if I break label of forum, but I was afraid that my previous ad in the "Resolved" issue Seagate can be neglected...

The Seagate firmware problem would explain why my replacement HP 750Go drive, happened today to replace my crashed, is not recognized by my computer?

A bit of history: after 2 months of operation, my new HP Pavilion a6750f desktop PC crashed, with the 750 GB drive omitting all Smart tests. While replacement is put in the mail, I bought a 1.5 GB Seagate and used to get on yesterday's recovery software. Today, Seagate 750 disk arrived, so I installed as a storage drive (to make backups to avoid another disaster). The BIOS reports as the 3rd disc, ST3750630AS and SMART spent testing.  But it does not appear on my computer (so that I can format it, if necessary.)  When I installed Nero Backitup 4, you can also see the drive, but there are no partitions.

    Issues related to the:

    1. How to format or get this drive recoginized?
    2. Can I install this download of the firmware on my 1.5 GB Seagate, my 1.0 GB of Seagate (another storage drive) and the 750 GB Seagate? If Yes, when I reboot, can I select which drives to apply to?

    Thank you!

It does not appear there, either.  As soon as Vista SP1 download is finished, I'll check the connectors. However, as it appear in the BIOS and in Nero Backitup, but not in my computer or disk management, it looks like a different problem...

  • CD/DVD-ROM not recognized since the installation of Vista, without errors

Installed Vista and lost CD rom? CD works can be heard during the execution but system will not find CDROM? Deleted upper and filters low but still will not find CD ROM?

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

Windows 8 does not recognize my portable hard drive Seagate USM when I insert into the computer Bay USM.  The computer is a new Lenovo K450 Windows 8.

    Thanks Ronnie,.

I contacted Lenovo on the K450 and they said that their computer would only recognize drives of 500 GB USM and mine are 1 TB.  I asked if he would support the discs from 1 to 2 to in the future and they said that it is not in their plans.  Meanwhile, my Seagate drives will connect via cable USB3 Lenove USB3 ports.

I have a K450 and thought the slot of USM was in not recognizing my Seagate Backup more 1 TB drive as well.  Then I found another similar post elsewhere and the solution is to enter the upper part of the computer and push harder!  It feels as if it was there when it really is not completely.  My 1 TB works fine now.  No idea why someone said there is a limit of 500GB.

  • DCR-SR85 is not recognized by Win7 64-bit

    I have a DCR-SR85 camcorder and currently a Win - 7 64-bit computer.

DCR-SR85 have the USB port and the AV/R. When I connect the camcorder to my computer with the USB cable, it automatically displays a menu for USB (HDD) CONNECTION, connect USB (MEDIA) options PRINT & BURN DISC. Based on the results of USB-PLUG just 'preparation' options to display on the LCD of the camera - but nothing else happens and the computer does not recognize the camcorder.

I tried with several USB Ports, Win 7 (32 bit as 64-bit) different computers, different USB cables - its all have the same result.

All my other devices recognized by using these cables & USB ports, no problem.

I've seen a compatibility page Streaming USB is not compatible with Win 7 but only see PMB or PlayMemories are compatible with my model of camcorder (DCR-SR85) & Win - 7 (32-bit as 64-bit), so I assume that the USB cable should work.

Some experts can shed light on how solve my problem and get the camcorder to be recognized by the computer, via USB CONNECT?

    Hi Shaun,

    Appreciate your response.

As mentioned in my original post, I already tried with several USB cables as well as another USB Port on my computer & different computers (unfortunately all Win7 - 32-bit or 64-bit). None of them helped.

I also tried the factory reset option - also not helped.

As mentioned, when I connect via USB & select CONNECTION USB [HARD drive], the screen of the camcorder shows just "PREPARATION" - what needs to be done to fix this & happen to recognize each other (computer & Camcoder)?

I have several years of content captured on my drive hard camcorder and will hate to lose them.

You will appreciate all the assistance to be able to access them again - other than just viewing on the camcorder.

    Hey,.

I checked the Web from Toshiba site and it seems that you need RAID driver for install Windows properly. The driver is required to get recognized hard drives

It seems that this driver is available for XP and 2000 only because the laptop is old enough, I think that Yes it doesn't support Vista or Windows 7 I think. You can only try the XP driver. If it doesn t work you must use the operating system preinstalled Toshiba were all working properly! :)

  • Errors of Touchpad, no scrolling, clicks not recognized, freash Win7 install

First of all, this has happened earlier this week after a game crashed.  I thought it was simply a corruption somewhere and opted to upgrade my HDD nearly full and with a larger SSD 6 year old.  Well, I have now completed with all the Danes windoze updates and the problem is still present.

    Questions:

    • Impossible to scroll (right side of my touchpad), at all, in any program.
    • sometimes not to slam (left or right) on items in the taskbar, such as the Start button and the pinned programs, and targeted windows such as clicking on ' save when you start a download, and will never function on reduction and close icons in the upper right of all program windows.  I can get this to work for the first 2 questions, if I CTRL-ALT-DEL and cancel the (need to click elsewhere on the screen first, and then it will recognize the mouse and can I undo or select one of the other options.)

    What I tried:

    • Obviously, full OS update on any new SSD
    • all HP, current drivers for the video and the touchpad drivers (since the HP drivers tend to be ~ 3 years) and the ALPS touchpad
    • all the foregoing in SafeMode ~ I don't have issues click here, but still no scroll
    • mouse external USB w / scroll wheel

This is beyond frustrating and I use the pen of scrolling a LOT (based on how much more work it should now use my PC).  I don't see this as a problem of material, given the problem exists with an external mouse to work tested/known.  The random nature does not help too (I'm a mechanic trade, used for troubleshooting systems).  Hoping I can get some ideas to try if it is a pure and simple solution, I'm more than willing to take certain steps.

    Thank you

    Brian

    EDIT:

New questions that I am to discover:

    • Cannot drag and drop files or icons

I don't know exactly what was the solution, but I found it.

I tried to reload Win 7, since a different ISO vs (captures directly from MS) my drive pre - SP1.  Even after the loading of only / only Win 7, I still had questions.  Which, for me, exclude any driver/software.  So I disassembled the laptop and spent half an hour it blow out with an air compressor, after reassembly and start the problem had disappeared.

As others have had problems with sticking keys (physical problem), I'll guess that's what I also.  However he may have been associated with the touch-pad or Ribbon connections of either.  In all cases, the solution found.
