Security Center is the gel

Im running Vista.  When I try to open "Windows Security Center" window opens, then freezes.  The circular icon everything continues to turn.  It will remain in this state until I close with the Task Manager tool.  So when I say the Task Manager to end the task, he told me that the program is not responding and that "the common Shell Dll window is not responding.  I can possibly shut down Securty Center when the next area arrives and asks me if I want to quit the program.
Help, please!
Thank you.

    Please note that one of the suggestions is to change the registry. If you are not comfortable making changes in the registry, you may need to communicate with someone who feels qualified to make the changes.

    NOTE: Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk...

  • Ran Malwarebytes & two threats were each one with the same name: PUM. Disabled.SecurityCenter. fact that associated with MSSE PUM & the boxes unchecked in MS security Center.

    Original title: PUM. Disabled.SecurityCenter

    I recently removed "patch system" of my Dell computer XP. Malwarebyte s was the only software to do. MSSE caught, but couldn't fix it. I then updated & ran MSSE on my Toshiba - no threats not found. I then ran Malwarebytes & two threats were each one with the same name: PUM. Disabled.SecurityCenter both at the Date of the registry in HKLM\SOFTE\Microsfot\SecurityCenter\AntiVirusDisableNotify & HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsfot\securityCenterFirewallDisableNotify.  These two have been listed bad: Good (0) (1).  In the Malwarebytes wesite, I read that this has something to do with MSSE. In a commentary, he says it occurs if, in the MS Security Center, the notification "Notify me if my computer might be at risk because of my virus protection software settings" is unchecked.  I then went ahead & check all 3, firewalls, viruses & automatic updates. My computer seems to work well, except that the fan runs all the time (there are a lot of processes running & the CPU usage is very--often 100%, but the computer works fast).

    My questions are: 1) the PUM associated MSSE & the boxes unchecked in MS security Center; (2) should I click on "ignore" in the Malwarebytes scan? 3) was right to check all the boxes in the center of security - "altert me if my computer may be at rist b/c of my xxx software settings?  Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

    (1) is associated with MSSE PUM & the boxes unchecked in MS security Center;

    The following thread might answer this question: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=69859

    (2) should I click on "ignore" in the Malwarebytes scan?

    Yes

    3) was right to check all the boxes in the center of security - "altert me if my computer may be at rist b/c of my xxx software settings?

    Only, run antivirus software at the same time. Firewall must be performed, evil-ware bytes can be run at your pleasure.

This program has antivirus, antispyware and firewall.  The webroot program works normally. Security Center sees no antivirus, windows firewall is enabled (but in fact webroots Firewall works), says and shows that the antispyware windows Defender (previously, he showed have spy sweeper from webroot and windows defender). • WinXP SP3: Security Center think multiple anti-virus and firewall (cleaning) are running when not.

    It is after the removal of Security Tool virus.  I need to delete everything that is telling Windows (XP SP3) that there is a firewall and anti-virus (es) when they are not running.  I need to install real firewall and antivirus, but cannot.

    Fixed a problem.  I found this on the Avira forum.  Use BartPE to rename \windows\system32\wbem\repository (to... repository.org, so that I could get back in the case where this caused problems).  Then restarted.  Now that the real firewall and anti-virus that run really show in Security Center.  The entrance to the forum suggested run services.msc and stop the WMI service, and then do the renaming.  However, the name change was denied, that's why I used BartPE - boy, this thing is a lifesaver sometimes!  I appreciate the help I received from those in this forum.     Thank you, Steve

  • Malwarebytes MS Security Center problem reports.

    After installing Windows Security Essentials (MSE), I ran Malwarebytes' Anti - Malware (MWB).  He reported this:

    Infected registry data items:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Center\UpdatesDisableNotify (Disabled.SecurityCenter)-> Bad: (1) Good: (0) not-> no action taken.

    Is suggesting that MSE is to blame for this registry problem (if it is indeed a problem), or maybe it was a problem that existed on my system before I installed MSE and appear all the time because I ran MWB before installing MSE?

    How can I "fix" this issue?

    -Jim

    It's probably a pre-existing condition.

    Assuming XP, open the Security Center - of the control panel and click on change the way Security Center alerts me. You can enable or disable notifications as desired.

  • Security Center and updates of Windows do not work on Vista laptop

    I have a laptop Dell Inspiron with Vista 1405E.    The Security Center and Windows updates do not work.

    I ran Norton Utilities to clean the registry and I deleted Norton Antivirus (completely, following the instructions from Symantec on the phone), but nothing has changed.  Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

    Thank you

    Should I remove S * PERAantiSpyware from my computer?

    If it is not necessarily - free SAS, but if all were fine with your computer (and it's not!), you should not have installed SAS because MSE includes a component of anti-malware.

    Should I install the [definitions optional updates offered by Windows Update MSE]?

    You pouvez install them but this is not necessary - assuming that MSE is installed & working properly... but I suspect that this is NOT the case!  See this FAQ: http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/74e507b8-f6da-4eca-8ce7-d1aca7d3f1ba

    [Microsoft] Security Essentials is related to the Security Center?

    Yes. Security Center monitors the status of the firewall, automatic updates and Protection against malware (anti-virus & anti-malware; applications i.e. Microsoft Security Essentials).

    Translation: Since the Security Center still cannot be permanently turned on, there is a very good chance that MSE and Windows Firewall will not work correctly - despite the fact that we have now managed to get the computer fully patched to Windows Update and despite the multi-step fix, I had to make.

    In your case, there are several possible causes for this behavior:

    1. your McAfee subscription and/or your previous subscription of Norton AntiVirus may have expired before that you did something;

    2. do not run the remove McAfee & Norton tools at the right time; or...

    3. misguided use of registry cleaners.

    So, what can you do about it?...

    OPTION A: MSE support could be able to help you. Residents of the United States (only!) should be able to open a support incident free of charge by e-mail via this page-online https://support.microsoftsecurityessentials.com/default.aspx?productkey=morrolaunch&mkt=en-us&st=1&wfxredirect=1

    Note: After selecting your option, language (e.g., English-US) and clicking the button CONTINUE, click on the EMAIL button, not the FORUM button!

    OPTION B (recommended): See the poster in this thread and follow the instructions of (my) WHOLE (to the letter and in order! ) to restore your computer to a State safe & functional: http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/c44429fb-3f7c-4646-8529-5a97bb3cd0eb

    If these procedures are outside your technique "comfort zone" - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the local computer, reputable and independent (i.e., not a 'BigBoxStore' or Geek Squad!) computer repair shop & let them do the work.

    IMHO your computer must NOT be connected to the internet or local area network (i.e. other computers) in its current state. All your personal data (e.g., banking online & passwords credit card) must be considered at risk, if not already compromised.

    Wish I had better news for you. Good luck!
