share a drive

How can I share my file to a disc so that others in the office may have access to it whenever I have download a file?

Don't want to send any links all the time and want it to be available for everyone (I want) just like dropbox.

Easy, just go on the OneDrive site, right click on the folder you want to share and share it to anyone you want.  These people can then go to OneDrive.com each time that they please and see the files you have added to the folder.  Like dropbox.

  • How do I share a drive so it can be mounted on a computer running Windows 7?

I have a slot machine WinXP SP2 (for various reasons, can not upgrade to SP3). I have a hard drive on I want to be able to mount it as a network drive on another computer. On this other computer, I am using Windows XP. I have accounts of administrator on both machines.

That's what I've tried so far:
-create the second account on the machine Windows XP password, connect you to it
    -disable simple sharing
-go to the sharing properties of the disc in quesiton, "share this folder".
-go to permissions, delete "everyone", add "authenticated users".
    -"OK".
The tutorial that I read said that the next step is to go to the dialog "Manage my network passwords" on the user accounts page. But this is where I don't know what to fill the boxes with.

  • Unable to share the drive C on the same machine Win7 (can on others)... OS refuses to accept the option "share the folder.

This computer worked fine until two days ago, when an upgrade of the software McAfee killed my internet access and AT & T has removed (by chance, they say) my static IP. They have restored these and I have reassigned IPs and dumped McAfee. Now I can access the Internet but can not reach one of my other machines. It's particularly frustrating when I follow the steps to share the C drive, nothing happens, and I have no shared status. Of course, I can't map the drive. I'm assuming that somethings that's hard shot in the registry, but this is way beyond my skill level. Help will be greatly appreciated.

I came across a weird solution, namel map drives in virtual XP and transfer files to the parent program. I don't know why it works, or more to learn from this, but it works what.

I also tried a number of suggestions on the Web to change the registry entries. Despite assertions to the contrary, none worked for me. Not too surprised if two other computers more my iPad and iPhone have no problem to share with the network devices.

In the network and sharing settings / advanced sharing settings / turn sharing protected by password. Use a unique name for the corresponding user password on your four computers.

  • Share a drive between the Mac desktop & VM

    Hello

When I plug in an external USB disk on my Mac, I can choose to connect the Mac or virtual machine.

It's windows to format so it is only read when I chose the Mac.

Unfortunately, when I choose the virtual machine, the drive disappears from my Mac desktop computer.

Would it not be possible to maintain the drive accessible from 2 systems and also be able to write directly on it via the Mac Finder?

    Thank you

No, a physical device can be attached to an operating system at the same time - if your host or a guest.

If you want to be able to read/write of these two at the same time operating systems, you will need to use the network file share.  Create a folder on the disk and inside the VM guest, attach to the network share you created.

    Hi mpccol,

This can happen if the Srvsvc.dll library is missing or damaged. Try the steps mentioned inthis article and check the result.

If you don't have a Windows XP CD, try the following steps:
    a. find the Srvsvc.dll on Windows file using the XP search feature.
See How to search for files and folders in Windows XP
    b. copy the Srvsvc.dll present in the i386 folder and pasted to the location: : \Windows\System32 folder.
Où : is the drive where Windows XP is installed.
    c. Once you have copied and replaced the file, restart the computer and check if the problem persists.

You can change the location in which the recording files are saved by a

    change in the registry.

To change the location to save the files:

    1. on the registration and statistics server, open the registry editor.

    2. navigate to the following registry key:

3 Add a new registry key named Audio directory.

    4. change the value so that a UNC path or a local path to the location where you

  • Share a drive between Virtual Machines

    Hello

I'm pretty new to VMware so forgive me if this is a silly question.  I am trying to create a shared drive for 2 different Virtual Machines on the same data store.  Each server has its own C: drive that has their installation in this document, which works fine, but I wish they have an E: drive shared that they can have access.  I tried to add a second virtual hard dirve for each machine and oriented the same file but the frist machine locks the file so that the other lights.

Is there another way to do this?

    Thank you

Yes it is not possible in this way. You can use a ROW which could be added as a hard drive in both these virtual machines. For purposes of sharing there are two options i.e.

Virtual - for this nodes to the same ESX.

Physics - for this nodes in two different ESX servers.

  • WRT610N trouble: cannot share the HARD drive

    Hello!

The problem is that I can't share HARD drive connected to my WRT610 via USB. The system continues to say "can not find the network address. I use XP with Service Pack 3. • WD My Passport drive external drive will not mount once my Macbook Pro is already on

    Hello

I actually had this problem for a year or two, but I'm finally getting bugged to this topic enough to see if it can be 'fixed '.

I have a 2 to WD My Passport portable HD connected to my macbook pro via an external (wall outlet) powered TRUST 5 x USB3 Hub.  If everything is connected, when I start the macbook pro there is no problem and the WD My Passport is mounted in the finder.  But if I remove manually the hard drive and then try to mount it again while the macbook pro is running it doesn't mount not.  It used to, but he won't now.

In the past the WD My passport would need to unplug and perhaps the USB3 hub would need power cable disconnect from him and the USB hubs out the macbook pro.  So when I joined this new and plugged the hard drive WD in the hub, it would rise very well.  But now it's just point blank refuses to ride until I restart the macbook pro.  Once I restart it it climbs perfectly and stays up forever--until it is dismantled manually - and then I have to restart the macbook pro again so he could mount once more.

I tried all combinations of pull cables and adapters to power but nothing has worked.  After dismantling the WD hd and plug back on the USB3 light led on the hub hub lights up and the hard drive turns manually, but, as I say, it is not mount and it is not visible in disk utility.

Any ideas please?  It's a bit annoying to have to keep restarting the mac whenever I had to unplug the hard drive WD.

"As issued" WD Passport appear to cause a number of reports of trouble around here. You have already taken the first "not best" - using a powered hub. Just make sure that the hub is really power (lights on, for example). It could be that the external drive is in its death throws.

This happen if the WD is the only thing on the powered hub?

The Mac USB ports work with other devices?

Here's what my experience with these things has believing me. WD made great bare discs, but I can't be so kind to their pens. Three questions:

    (1) I think that they should use chipsets which are not very easy to Mac.

    (2) most driving the ship formatted for Windows

    (3) even those shipped as "Mac editions have some odd which makes it difficult to access file formatting.

If you do not have to share the drive with a Windows computer, you can reformat the drive and that often fixes "fail to mount/recognize" question. Disk utility is your tool of choice here because it is already installed on your Mac. Completely erase the WD drive by selecting the tab 'Clear' in the bar tabs to disk utility. Define the plan of Partition to GUID Partition map and journaled for Mac extended format. Press the button 'clear '. The reader will now will be rid of eccentric WD partitioning and formatting schemes and be a good Mac hard drive.

If you share the road with a Windows computer, consider getting a better workout. After having fought external drives 'brand' on my computers and others that I maintain, I now use only boxes of other computer world with naked WD drives inside. Since this change, I have zero problems. For my MacBook Pro, I use this forum:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/item/OWC/MEPMU3ES/

I ordered the external power optionally for use at home and go on the road bus-powered. It's an empty envelope - just a hard drive of nu. They are more expensive than the stuff that Staples puts on sale every weekend, but are much more reliable. I ask the question. "What is my value data?"

  • Cannot connect to the shared drive?

    Hey,.

I have this shared drive. I'm unable to open a session. I have the drive on the mode of account and the account I want to connect to is say (see photo). I tried to make a new account. I triple check that I was typing in the correct thing. but still not connect if anyone can help that would be great!

I hope this helps. Thank you!

To use the option "with accounts" to share a drive connected to an AirPort base station, this drive MUST be formatted in HFS +. It will NOT work for disks formatted in FAT32, ExFAT, or NTFS.

If you already have the drive formatted in HFS +, then you need create user accounts in order for users to access the shared drive. This is NOT the same as the user's Windows login account. When you use AirPort Utility to share this record with the accounts, you should have the opportunity to complete the list of accounts. You add individual user names and password and choose the level of access to this list. Did you do that?

If so, then to access Windows 10, start the file Explorer. In the location field, type: \ < IP address of the base station >, then press < enter >.

Now, you will be prompted for a user name and password. Enter a name of user and password combination you created earlier, and then click OK.
