Shaw and my new Linksys WRT310N router

Basically, I tried a router Dlink $ 50 and failed. I tried a $ 100 Linksys router and failed. My ISP is Shaw and no 3rd party router seems to work with it. I have connected my Shaw Surfboard Cable Modem to the Internet port on my router and router connection Port 1 to the Ethernet port on my desktop. I talked to support several times without success. Can someone help me understand this problem?

"Just to get the mac address of the PC which is on your ISP shaw.

AFAIK, you don't need to do. I'm on Shaw, using a WRT-320N and have no problem at all (at least not THIS problem).

There are three different pieces of this puzzle and you have not provided enough information to determine what part is actually the problem:

-connection makes Shaw so you are also connected to the internet

-you are connected to the internet but cannot browse, receive emails etc. of your main (or other) machine which is connected BY WIRE to the router

-you are connected but cannot browse wireless

If the problem is that the first (and I think that's what you wrote), try the following - it is conceivable that one or more of your IP addresses are contradictory. In order to cross Shaw it is easier if you just "start over." Cut your cable Modem. Turn off your router. Re-turn on your modem and wait until it shows who is connected with the signal. Then turn on your router. This should dispel any questions.

Most of the machines are set to "dhcp", which will allow the machine to automatically retrieve an address.

If no joy, please advise what your PC (Windoze? Mac?) and what version of operating system you are using (Windoze Vista? Windows 7? Win XP? OSX? etc.)

  • Inspiron 8600 and an adapter Intel wireless & new Linksys router

We recently bought a Linksys Wireless G router and my Inspiron worked very well.  Randomly, he stopped yesterday connecting to our network.  I have the excellent or good signal strength.  When I run the repair feature, the limited or no connectivity message appears. My IP address may not be renewed.  I tried scanning all available networks, and my computer 'sees the router' but when I chose connect nothing changes.  Is my adapter wireless misfunctioning or broken or is there something else I should do.

  • Linksys wireless router is not my new Motorola modem Internet access

I am relatively new to setting up home networks, so it's maybe a stupid question but I'm stuck! I bought a new modem Motorola (SurfBoard 1621) as my old Motorola modem was not favorable to the increase of the speed offered by Comcast. The modem I bought was a model recommended by their web site. They recorded the new modem last night and I can access the Internet when the PC is connected directly to the modem, but not when the laptop is connected to my Linksys wireless router. (Sorry, I don't know the model because it is at home and I'm at work!) Is there something I should do for the router to recognize the new modem? The router recognizes the wireless laptop, but it can not connect to the Internet.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Success! Thanks a lot for your answer. My router is a WRT - 54G links.

The instructions were very informative, although I have a suggestion. Just restart the modem and the router did not work. I had to reboot other equipment in my system (a NetGear firewall and a level switch 5 ports) and the router and the modem. I would like to see the reboot of reference tracking "and other devices. I guessed the appropriate power of sequence (modem, firewall, switch, router, computer), and fortunately, it worked.

Again, thank you for your quick response.

I have a Belkin N1 Vision router and a new HP Office Pro 8500 all-in-one printer (HPA7864C), but the wireless connect. I followed the instructions of the printer, but the better report reports that "MAC filtering" is enabled to possbly (or on) on the wireless router. I checked the router, but the "MAC filtering" is set to off (or off). What could be the issue that the printer will not connect to the wireless router?

    Best report:

    Without thread - OK

    Functions without wire - OK

Network name (SSID) has been found - OK

    Security - OK

Print settings are OK with the settings of the router - OK

Unfiltered - NOT OKand then it stops!

    Connection - do not run.

Problem was solved by changing the channel 6 to 11 of the channel on the Belkin N1 router.

  • connection printer MG7520 problems with password, and the new name of the router

    Hi sdwhite,

Yo are quite right that any time changes to network configuration, the printer must be given new items.  The printer can be connected directly from the operations Panel, and I have included full instructions HERE.

  • Problem with printing with new Wi - Fi router and 7410

My HP 7410 print perfectly with my old router - but who died.  Today, I installed a new Netgear N750 with WPA2 security.  I finally had to downgrade times the speed and the performance of the router and other equipment for the HP7410 could recognize the network under WEP security.  However, now it does not print, even though it recognizes the network.  How can I resolve this short of buying a new printer?

OK, let's try the following: setting up press façade 7410, 8, 1, 1 to print a network configuration page (you have probably this).  Look at line 3 and put this IP address in the browser of your computer.  This loads the page 7410's built-in web server?  If this isn't the case, then your computer Windows 7 Click Start, type cmd in the search box.  When cmd.exe will appear in the results do a right-click on it and choose "Run as Administrator" and give permission.  Once the administrator command window opens click in the box and type

    IPCONFIG

It lists the IP address of your computer.  Compare this with the IP address of the printer.  They should be the same for the first three sets of numbers, for example 192.168.1.11 and 192.168.1.3.  If the first series of numbers are not the same the printer and the computer are not correctly on the same network.  (This can happen if the printer is not picking up an IP of your router, or in some cases correctly when it receives an IP address from another router, maybe a neighbor.)

    Hello

WAN port on my linksys befsr81b router is connected to comcast cable modem smcd3g-ccr, all the cable modem ports are in auto mode and when I connect to the cable modem it shows 10 Mbps, half-duplex, for this linksys router port is connected to.

When I connect a PC to the same port on the modem using the same wiring, I get 1000Mbps, full duplex.

He tells me that the router and modem cable have difficulties at ports the correct port mode. When I change from auto to 100 Mbit/s, two-way, cable modem, the router disconnects and the link light for the modem port shuts.

I use the version of the firmware 2.45.10, June 3, 2004, on linksys router, which seems to be the latest firmware for befsr81b.

  • Question re: Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g adapter and connection w/Linksys E2000 wireless router

Help! I'm at my wit's end. I just bought a Linksys E2000 router and cannot find a way to get the router to connect wireless on my HP G60-235DX laptop (running Vista) via the WPA2 setting. I know that the Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g wifi adapter is the question, and I downloaded the latest driver update... and still have the same problems.

FYI - I can connect to the computer via the internet cable from the Linksys E2000 router so I know that it is not a modem issue.

    Help... PLEASE, I BEG YOU!

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

    Paul,

I solved the problem! After almost return the router to Best Buy today during lunch, I decided to give it a try more tonight and again call LinkSys. After almost decided with the Linksys officer that they only solution is to put another card in my computer, we stumbled on the question.

We have gone to 5.0 GHz to 2.4 and spent the 'auto' channel to channel 9.

And now my computer works like a charm (thanks also to update the driver as you instructed).

    Thank you!

I have a linksys wrt54g router that my brother put in place years ago.  Unfortunately, he is unable to remember the password of the router, and I came out of my own personal network.  I can't reset the password, by going into management services by typing my ip address (it is said he is recorded, however it does not record) and my brother sent me a dl from linksys to set up a new account, but it keeps telling me that my wireless is not on when it is.  Can anyone help me please with this.  Thanks for your time!

Opening of session in the page of the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar... Keep the SSID Broadcast enable and click on save settings on the tab Wireless, change the SSID (Network Name) to a unique name, change the channel 11-2 wireless, 462 GHz... In respect of wireless security, enable security... If you use WEP then, note the Key1 as the network security key... Now, try to locate the network on the wireless computer wireless and connect it using the correct security key... Security key is case-sensitive.

  • My Y510 does not recognize my new Linksys WPC600 Wireless-n laptop notebook adapter

    Product information

I put in the card and that it snaps, but he seems safe in there. It can easily be removed. He feels like he doesn't have all the adapter. When I insert it, Vista doesn't recognize or recognize it. The Y510 accepts only a certain type of network card? Because the click of 'plateau' looks strange and unique.

The card definitely fine functions because I tried on a Dell laptop and it recognizes the card immediately.

Do I have to download a certain driver for my Y510 to recognize the Linksys adapter PC laptop?

    Hello

To check the PC that cannot access the Internet read this page, http://www.ezlan.net/wireless.html

    ------------------------
    Sharing.

    Maybe this can help.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Homegroup = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Network of home or work = fundamentally similar (and better) to the previous Working Group sharing methods which allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

To get best results connect to each computer system screen and set all the computers to be on a bearing the same name of Working Group , while each computer has its own unique name.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall, AV, or other security components allow free local traffic on all network computers. If you use the 3rd group of security, firewall native Vista/XP must be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall/AV/security costumes continue to block aspects of the Local traffic even it they are off (off).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

    ------------------------------

Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.
