Small business switches and POODLE

Cisco did research in small business switches being vulnerable to POODLE?  I know they are working hard on the side of the business, but I'm not finding any information on the side of small business.

Hello

All Cisco products will be checked and the results are displayed on the same page for the company:

  • Problems with config Small Business switch

Hi, I know that if I read the documentation I will come for answers, but I'd really like some input from someone with more knowledge than me. I have a problem with Cisco SF300, one of the Small Business switches. I have a single interface on my router and I need to separate my internal networks, I thought that one way would be to use VLANs. On my two internal networks a network has D-Link unmanaged switches, the other has the Cisco SF300 I did as follows.

On the Cisco Switch, all of the default ports for ports of junction. I changed FE1-FE24 and GE1-2 to access ports.

Created two VLAN and placed FE1-FE24 in VLAN10 (also my management VLAN), GE3 is a trunk Port for unidentified VLAN20, VLAN 20 uplinks to my DiLink switches. This way my unmanaged switches traffic arrives on a trunk on VLAN20 untagged port.

GE4 is a trunk port and I assigned to VLAN1 untagged, tag VLAN10 VLAN20 tag and. 10 of VLANS and VLAN 20 then to my router.

The plan was to connect GE4 to my router, but I had two things happen that I can't explain.

All first as soon as I connected my D-Link to GE3 LAN on VLAN20 came down, I couldn't ping servers from computers etc, all devices are connected to the D-links unmanaged. Secondly, the responsibilities of VLAN changed on GE3 GE4, VLAN 10 and 20 disappeared and only the VLAN by default was assigned, also under settings VLAN my state of interface VLAN for VLAN20 shows people with reduced mobility. One of my FE12 continues also to change VLAN access ports.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what might have crushed the LAN and why change my VLAN. I wrote my config running at startup configuration incidentally.

    I added two screenshots.

    Seriously, I'd appreciate the help.

    Thank you

    Bob

    Hi Bob,

Could you please post a topology? I can help with this, but it would be much easier that I could see your network.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Fundamental issues of SFP for Small Business Switches

    Hi all

Just for fun, I would switch to fiber, running the trunk ports between my two Cisco SG300 lab switches but I'm new to the media.

In looking at the options, I thought that MM (MGBSX1) is the way to go, but the cost of the 'Official' FPS an arm and a leg. (don't forget, he is my laboratory, not a production environment).

I have a few newbie questions and forgive if this has been answered a hundred times, but I was not able to find in the search.

    1. What I really need to use Cisco brand trancievers? I've seen other than Cisco 1000BASE-SX SFP on ebay for a tenth of the cost. Given that, Yes, the quality may or may not be the same.
    2. Is MGBSX1 way to go? Switches are in different rooms, so distance is not a problem, my choice was based on cost trancievers and media.
    3. SFP ports are valued only Gigabit, but I saw a higher number variety quoted. Is this a limitation of the switch itself, the protocol used, or the transmission media?

Again sorry if these are questions of newb and thanks in advance!

    Lee

    1. should I really use Cisco brand trancievers? I've seen other than Cisco 1000BASE-SX SFP on ebay for a tenth of the cost. Given that, Yes, the quality may or may not be the same.

According to the Quick Start Guide SG300 ' SFP ports are compatible with Cisco modules MGBT1, MGBSX1, MGBLH1, MGBLX1, MGBBX1, MFELX1, MFELX1, and MFEBX1, in addition to the modules from other brands. "

    2. is MGBSX1 way to go? Switches are in different rooms, so distance is not a problem, my choice was based on cost trancievers and media.

Choose a type of SFP based on the length of the links and the type of available fiber.  Small Business card SFP provides the information you need.  The MGBSX1 is probably a good choice, low-cost, up to length of 550 meters over multimode fiber link.

3 ports SFP are valued only Gigabit, but I saw a higher number variety quoted. Is this a limitation of the switch itself, the protocol used, or the transmission media?

Each switch is designed to support specific port speeds, based on the application of switches designed into the network.  Optical transceiver modules do not support different speeds (like many electric ports).  Instead, the switch port is compatible, the transmitter/receiver module can be swapped to change speeds.  Style SFP modules are available at 100 Mbps and 1Gpbs; Modules of SFP + for 10 Gbit/s; higher speeds have new form factors.  You can see a lot of styles of optical Modules on the page Web Cisco transceiver.

    Good luck!

  • WE HAVE small business Acctg and got windows 7, HOW do I make this work / compatible?

We have Small Business Accounting 2006 and you have upgraded to our computer systems for Windows 7.  Now we find that they are not compatible.  The SBA 2006 is related to our software.  WE must have this compatible.

    Help, please.

E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

    Hello MarthaFry,

SBA 2006 is not compatible with Windows 7. However, you didn't say what version of Windows 7 you are using. For example, Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and ultimate edition have the option to download Windows XP mode. This installs a copy of XP on your machine (in Windows 7) that allows you to install the accounting software in a Windows XP environment. That might solve your problem.

If not have you tried to install SBA in compatibility mode for Windows Vista? Try to right click on the file setup.exe (or install.exe) SBA and selecting Properties. In the properties box, click the tab compatibility Place a checkmark (tick) in the box to the left of the "run this program in compatibility mode for" and then select Windows Vista from the dialog box just below this option. You will need to click on the arrow to the right of this box to display all operating systems.

Click Ok, and then click the file setup.exe (install.exe) to start the installation.

  • SMALL BUSINESS SWITCH SLM 2024

Hi, for some reason, I can't access the switch through the web interface. I have the switch to factory settings, and the same thing happens. I tried to access the switch via a special pc and still the same, I would appreciate help on this.

    Nadia,

Are you able to ping to the device?

Did you change the vlan management on the device by accident?

If all else fails have you tried resetting the switch and plug directly into it and enter it with the address 192.168.1.254 default ip?

  • Small Business Investment program Question

I have a question about the small business investment program. I just bought a Cisco Small Business router and additional Small Business 8 Port Switch. Later on the road, we might need a 16, Port or more, but we don't need to exchange any now. We wonder what it takes just to enroll in the program. What is the link you need to register?

    Hi Nathan,

I just noticed that you also tweeted on the subject.  Anyway, here's the URL that you should go and look for information about this program:

  • Plug-and-Play for Cisco Small Business 300 Series managed switch

    Nice day

What are the automatic installation options available for the Managed Switch series of Cisco Small Business 300?

It seems there are not, the operating system is not the standard IOS I used to.

I would use with ability to bridge the Infrastructure first Cisco PnP.

    Concerning

    Stone

First Infrastructure use and assume an agent CNS (Cisco Network Services) on the other side, when you enable the 'plug & play '. Series 300/500 do not run IOS and does not include the CNS agent, but there is a way to activate the automatic configuration. Switches supported by the automatic DHCP configuration (using DHCP options 66, 67, etc.) in which case they automatically download their config to a TFTP server at boot time. This allows an administrator to put the configs for all switches on a TFTP server and simply start a default switch factory in order to obtain config.

Seal a document shows how this is done.

Hope that the information would be useful.

  • My small business SF 302-08 Switch will not let me apply the command "Routing".

Hi everyone, my switch cisco small business SF 302-08 has the latest firmware and I want to activate the command routing, but it doesn't let me do that.

I've read the reference guide for orders, do all this procedure: IP Routing Protocol independent commands starting at page 629, but nothing happens. I need this because I want a routing between VLANs

    Kind regards.

    Hi Felipe

Look forward to hearing how you go.

If you reset the factory default switch and the switch is NOT connected to a server, the switch restarts with a default IP 192.168.1.245 address according to the Quick start guide .  If your PC has a static address 192.168.1.2, you should be able to access the graphical interface of the switch.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/switches/LAN/CSBMs/sf30x_sg30x/Quick_Start/78-19252-01.PDF

If the switch is connected to a DHCP server, the switch Gets an IP via DHCP.

    I've had problems using hyperterminal on my Windows 7 box, that I have overcome by restarting my PC in order to free the COM port.  Settings of the console are;

    • 115200 bits per second
    • 8 data bits
    • no parity
    • 1 stop bit
    • no flow control

If you really have problems, and you think that the switch is faulty, you have the possibility to use the services of small business Support Center (HWC) in order to identify if the switch is good or bad.

  • reinstalled Windows Small Business Server 2003 and Intranet failed during installation

I had to reinstall Small Business Server 2003 and I can't after setting up where Exchange, etc. are installed. It passes through Exchange perfectly and blocks on the Intranet tools on Disc 3. I use the "fixed" CD because the 3 original drive was corrupted when we bought SBS2003. Our version is the original pre-service pack 1. Is there anyway to download a disk image 3 where my disk is damaged? It seems good, no scratches, scratches or dirt.

  • Error message: this action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose ' switch to ' to activate the busy program and correct the problem

    Original title: server busy

I get a popup server busy with the message: "this action cannot be completed because the other program is busy.  ' Choose ' switch to ' to activate the busy program and correct the problem.  There are two buttons"'Switch To' and 'Retry '.  Neither fixes the problem and I do not understand what they are talking about.

    Hi adarb,

    1. when exactly you get this message?

    2. what applications do you use when you get this message?

    Method 1:

You can restart the computer and check if it helps.

    Method 2:

You try to perform a clean boot. A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If your problem is resolved after the clean boot, and then follow the steps mentioned in the article above to refine the exact source.

After you have used the boot is a way to solve your problem, you can follow the steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    Hope this information is useful.
