Sound in Ubuntu

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my NB100 because after an update, I could not the wireless network is working correctly.

9.04 is going very well, and I realized a lot of goals with the help of a large Linux guru.

I now can do things like using the database of Open Office as a front-end for MySQL on XP on the network machine, play the audio on the network, use Audacity for audio editing, watch and listen to YouTube videos and use Skype for audio and Visual comms.

In most of the audio, I seem to be using Alsa (at least that is what--> sound preferences said. This works very well on Skype, until I try to watch YouTube videos. If I played a YouTube video and left sitting on a tab of the Firefox browser, Skype does not work, saying: "problem with audio playback. Research in newspapers seem to reveal things Skype audio is in use by another application. Closure of YouTube then allows Skype to work.

In addition, if I close Skype, I can't reopen that I reboot or that I close of Skype always running processes in System Monitor.

I wonder if someone did something like that in 8.04, and if they worked better here.

Hello
May I ask what version of BIOS is installed on your machine?

Welcome them

    Hello world!

I bought a HP ProBook G3 450 and installed Ubuntu 15.10 on it. And there is no sound at all. I tried to google, the decigion, but failed.

Please help me with my problem.

    Hello!

I just got my 450 G3 his askubuntu in collaboration with this response:

    http://AskUbuntu.com/questions/700167/no-sound-on-Ubuntu-15-10

I'll also copy the instructions in case where HP removes the link:

I found the solution (!), create a new file /etc/modprobe.d/intel.conf

    Add the following options:

    options snd-hda-intel single_cmd = 1
    options snd-hda-intel probe_mask = 1

    reset...

    * NOTE: I'll make sure, if you have any data there, you save it, just in case (I came across no problem, however).  I'm Linux system admin and I always make sure you that I have a recent backup of any system I make changes to the system, just to be sure.

  • How can I disable the sound when an error message appears?

There is an anoying sound when an error message appears in FF. I looked in preferences, but it doesn't seem to be an option to turn it off.

  • Plugin Flash races to come, has no sound, since the upgrade to Ubuntu, why?

After update Ubuntu 11.04 to 12.04 (64-bit), embedded videos managed by the Flash plugin race advance to the download speed, totally ignoring the clock. They are also silent.

Found the problem. It is an odd. Research in the application of the Volume control (not sure if it's one thing to Gnome or Xfce - desktop is Xfce), he showed that he was failing to try to play the audio stream through "Redwood HDMI Audio" due to a Radeon video card in the system. Turn off sub tab Configuration and having integrated Audio together the appropriate (in my case) audio analog stereo sound restorations that it fixes the problem Flash video--race to advance.

What is crazy is that the video should come race due to an audio output doesn't work. How could Adobe have never programmed Flash with this addiction?

In any case, it appears that in the cycle of upgrading Ubuntu insisted on bring back the HDMI audio in game. Which had been set correctly - off - before the upgrade. I have HDMI to my monitor, but its speakers are analog.

  • Ubuntu update killed my NB100 sound

As a complete newbie to Linux, I ran the driver update process Ubuntu and now my sound card is no longer recognized.

I tried the Ubuntu forums and there is an okay waiting for Linux. Can someone help me in words laymans?

If not, should I install XP on the device and go where I feel comfortable.

    Andy

I wanted to just wait for the next update, they are normally quite frequent. Looking for newspapers (the console by typing dmesg) looks like there is a little problem with the drivers:

SND: disagrees about version of symbol struct_module
snd_hwdep: disagrees about version of symbol struct_module
snd_page_alloc: disagrees about version of symbol struct_module
snd_timer: disagrees about version of symbol struct_module

They just need to update that and everything works again. I wonder if this line just before it has nothing to do with it:
    Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810

Looks like a niggle Toshiba/Canonical need to sort.

  • Sound on the Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 - 199 Ubuntu Feisty

    Hello

Does someone have his work on Toshiba U200-199? I'm under Ubuntu Feisty (kernel 2.6.20 - 15-generic) and have tried both the supplied kernel modules and have compiled the latest Alsa (ALSA 1.0.14rc3). However, its still not working.

    I tried
-all models that include the snd_hda_intel driver options in the alsa documentation
-added option single_cmd to the driver snd_hda_intel
-the core with pci = noacpi boot
-dumping the dsdt ACPI, recompiling it without errors and loading from a virtual disk

According to the model provided in option, I got of the different errors, for example:
    -hda_intel: azx_get_response timeout, set the mode single_cmd...
-ACPI: Interruption PCI for 0000:00:1 b. 0 disabled device

I am running the latest update of the BIOS (3.50). Needless to say that the sound works fine in Windows XP.
I'm looking forward to suggestions on getting his work on this model.

    Best regards
    Patrik

Hi, you have the same problem.

Enable sound in Windows XP, and then pass the parameter ' Device Config. ' in the BIOS to "all devices". It works for me with Ubuntu 7.04 out of the box. If you disable the sound in windows a BIOS is set to 'Installation of OS', takes control over some windows device parameter.

  • Edge 13, Ubuntu Lucid and annoying sound problem

    Hello

I'm in dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu Lucid Beta on my new Edge 13 "(Intel). I have problems with the sound: things work in W7 but on Ubuntu I don't get sound from the internal speakers, even when headphones are connected. In fact things worked at first, until I hit once the button mute, reactivate after I started having sound from speakers and headphones at the same time, and then for some reason, no noise in the headphones. I tried to change settings in its preferences, but not luck.

Can anyone think of what could be the problem? Why is it all started after actionning the mute button?

    Thank you!

Moreover, apart from this problem, Ubuntu works very well on the edge.

I solved the problem by adding this at the end of the modprobe.conf file:

    model options snd-hda-intel = "olpc-xo-1_5.

    as described here:

  • No sound in Windows 7 after installing dual boot Ubuntu (Sound Blaster Audigy)

I recently put my Windows 7 system to dual-boot with Ubuntu 9.10.

Now, Ubuntu will play audio through my Sound Blaster Audigy, but Windows 7 will not. I reinstalled all the drivers and installed correctly. I went through the troubleshooting Control Panel section; She didn't find any problem, but there is still no sound. When I play music, volume control shows that the audio is playing.

I can only assume that there is a problem with the installation of Ubuntu, that seems odd, since BONES are on separate partitions on my hard drive. Like I said, Ubuntu played outside the Audigy with no problems.

Meanwhile I use my onboard sound for Win7, but I'd love to get my audigy...

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Nope checked all the possible power for audio setting in windows 7.  The only solution I found was disabling Audigy, plug in my onboard sound, allowing it and restart the computer.  On restart I could activate audigy, plug on it and activate the audigy player.  It was my only solution, but this is not going to work whenever I want to use ubuntu. No solution practice.

  • Update breaks sound on Toshiba NB100 (NBR of Ubuntu 8.04)

My netbook ran a batch of updates yesterday, including a new kernel, I think that (2.6.24 - 27-lpia) and the result is no sound (everything seems to be fine). there don't seem to be able to find sound devices. The start of the previous kernel (2.6.24 - 24-lpia) seems to fix the problem, but of course, this isn't an ideal solution.

    Is there a solution?

    Thank you
    John

You think it can't happen twice, but it has and I can confirm that. Install easypeasy 1.6 if there is no solution for this problem. I tested the beta version installed on the usb memory and it works well.

  • the FF update section is missing from my newly installed FF14! My OS is Ubuntu.

the section 'Update of FF' is absent from my newly installed FF14! My OS is Ubuntu.

Sounds that you have installed a version of Firefox from the Ubuntu software repositories.

This version must be updated form the update of Ubuntu Software and cannot be updated directly via help > about Firefox.

You need to install the official version of Firefox from the Mozilla server if you want to update yourself rather than wait until Ubuntu offers an update.

  • X 360 spectrum: spectrum HP x 360 with Ubuntu: plug headphones is not turn off speaker

    Hiya,

I just installed Ubuntu (Willy Werewolf) on my HP spectrum - most of the stuff worked right away, and I'm super happy with it. My biggest problem I've been struggling with is the sound: speakers are working perfectly, however when I plug in my headphones, sound is read through both speakers and headphones.

I checked the levels in the mixer and the system is noticed when the headphones are plugged and turns down the speakers correctly (as in alsamixer) channel - it's just that seems to have no effect on the physical hardware. If I change the helmet, that the effects of the volume in the speakers and headphones.

What is interesting, is that, when the headphones are connected, the speakers disappear in fact from the control panel and console announcements mark as "unavailiable. As the system seems to be doing things right from the software point of view, I guess that's maybe a driver issue?

If anyone has seen anything like this before, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Also the small LED F6 lights when I cut more, but I can't live without that I don't really like (but if anyone knows an easy way to disable this market / stop via the comand line, I get a script to do).

Thanks for your help Hüffer, I finally found the issue myself.  This has proved to be a problem with the map pins (two or three pins speaker have been put to use the headphone output rather than the speaker output).

If anyone has this problem, I used tool HDA-Analysier of ALSA to debug it and make the required changes pinmap. I fixed the problem by changing the following:

    0 x 17 to Audio output 0 x 11
    0x1D to Audio output 0 x 11

  • Qosmio PX30T - no sound from speakers

I just replaced a failing on my PX30T HARD drive and now I get no sound from the internal speakers. I used the media restore and also put all the patches and windows 8.1. Still no sound from the speakers, but the headphones work well.

As a last resort, I started with an image of Ubuntu USB and also no sound. I think I might have loosened a wire when replacing the HARD drive, but I don't see how because there are no other wires in the region. Ideas?

If the headset work correctly, the audio driver must be already installed and I don't think that a parameter must be checked and changed.

    Reach:
    Control Panel? sound? Recovery tab
Here, you should see the speakers and speakers must be marked as default device.

Make and check if the sound seems once again
