  Yes, everything is fine and normal.

  The 'unknown' simply means there was an entry in the section SID_LIST of the listener.ora, while the 'ready' means the database contacted the listener for automatic recording.

  The "unknown" the listener is saying: ' you told me there is a data base MyBase name, so I'll take your Word for it, but I really can't confirm it.
  The 'ready' is the listener by saying "I know there is a database named MyBase because he contacted me less than a minute ago."

  Is it possible to force Pages to let these visible extensions?

  It belongs to your PC users own parameters so they have file extensions or not.

  On a Mac, just select the file and Get Info (command I) then check the box show the file extension .

  There is also a checkbox in the Save dialog to show or hide the extension.

• Unable to write to the network drive

  I have a Synology RT1900AC I have connected a HDD 2 TB WD MyPassport Wireless for. The drive is formatted HFS +. I can see the drive of two MacBook, we use, but cannot write to it either. When I look at Info for all files/folder on the disc, he said: "you can only read this...". ", BUT he says everyone has read and write permissions. In addition, if I check via the Terminal, I see that all files/folders on the disc are reading/writing/execution permissions. Finally, if I access the drive through Synology DS files app on my iPhone or iPad, I can write to the disk - it's only on the MacBook I can't.

  I work on a MacBook Pro mid 2012

  Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz

  OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

  The Mail app suddenly quit and when I tried to resume, I got this message

  "Cannot open the application"Mail"because the PowerPC applications are no longer supported."

  This also happens with the "Maps" app

  All Mac software are up to date, but "Mail" has been working fine since my last update that was awhile ago.

  If you do a Get Info (command - I) on Mail and Maps applications, what version numbers do you see?

  Try a reboot.

  Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

  Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

  Isolate a problem by using a different user account

  If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

• File in the applications folder

  I accidentally dragged a + 1 GB MP4 file in my applications folder. When I try to drag the output file, it appears only in my movies folder (or another folder, including the desktop) as an alias of 440 KB. Through the get info (command I) I have reset the permissions so anyone can read/write, but the same problem persists. How can I fix this problem so I can drag the real file on applications and in the movie as a complete file folder? It is a weird scenario I have not experienced before.

  Certainly a strange scenario with your MP4 showing a reduction in the size with a few hundred KBs Alias. Not to worry, this should do the trick for you.

  Try right click on the file that is located in the Apps folder, and then click Copy 'filename '. Once you have copied to the clip board, you can then paste the original file in the folder sequences or according to folder that you choose. After you have copied, open the folder that you copied the file and check it's there and can open as expected. If all is good, you can delete the file you have in the Applications folder to remove it from this place.

• advice/assistance on the consolidation of data from multiple Macs

  Hi, I have accumulated years worth of data... text, multimedia files, documents of all kinds - everywhere

  a variety of Macs - Mobile Office, Mac mini, iMac - each running 10.6.8 systems or 10.8 +.

  My mission, after a new backup of each of these respective volumes - is to gather all the data on their part on a single external hard drive in order to see him again all for relevance - after executing a kind of double-eliminator app like Tidy Up or Gemini - and in turn, to classify everything in a logical as a whole new folders.

  Before you start what I want to know if I'm going to run into some weird permissions problems or other have difficulties to open any of the data collected on the "new master" HD - and if so, what can I do to not have this happen.  Back in the day, we could of course just do drag an entire volume of HD on another HD and find it... who was OS9 and earlier of course.

  I am concerned about the content of the data - not applications/utilities - those that are not relevant to this project - it is organize information (docs) and multimedia files.  Where also does make sense for only the copy of the files

  vs 'everything' - and if so... what would be a good way of singling out and only transfer that data on the new 'master' review by car?

  For permissions, after you copy the data to the external hard drive, do a Get Info (command - I) on the drive and check for the option ignore the property. If this is not available, unlock the lock and give you read/write permissions. Then, click on the gear down and select apply to included items.

  Normally, all data are stored in your user/home folder, so if you copy the folders that are located in your user/home folder, which should get your data.

  that is a difficult question. Try VLC to see if it will open to them. Usually when the disc appears on the desktop, if you click on it and let go, then press the clover sheet and I (get info command), you should be able to choose which application/program can open them. I have not already heard talk of the "samsung" format, I know there is a stranger there (lie format MTS from Sony). Regarding the conversion of them, maybe MPEG streamclip or hand brake? worst case scenario, you may need to spend some money to buy a video conversion app/program

  I've just updated my 10.11.4, iMac OSX and now my FCPX project on an external drive keeps getting a message "read-only file system!  Does anyone else have this problem?  I was wondering if I should reduce my OS to the previous version, where I had no problem to access my library...

  Info (command + i) on your external Volume and check to see if the checkbox at the bottom of the window ("Ignore ownership on this Volume") is unchecked.

  iTunes runs as an application of Windoze of 1995 for the love of pete.  It's crazy and very UNAPPLE-LIKE!

  You can view the history of each account purchases: see your purchase history in iTunes on Mac or PC - Apple Support store

  Or if you have items in your computer's iTunes library you can select and do "get info" (command-I), and on the file tab, see the id "purchased by".
