SSD in VOSTRO 3500

Are there replacements of SSD approved by DELL for the hard drive in my 3500?  No reason that popular SSD will not work?

John

Here is the experimental proof for my DELL Vostro 3500.  Used a Crucial 120 GB M4SSD with cloning siftware and USB to SATA cable.  Has taken an hour to copy data (60 GB) hard drive in SSD using supplied software cloning.  Hardware wise, the car was perfect.  Ran perfectly sounds attempt.  Startup and shutdown speed is very fast.  Well worth the $200.

I have a dell Vostro 3500, which came out in early 2010. Windows 10 app upgrade tells me that I can't upgrade to windows 10 due to the NVidia GeForce 310 m driver is not compatible.

I have also an inspiron 1545 published in late 2008 that it can be upgraded to windows 10.

I looked in this driver issue that I've been running windows 8.1 on the Vostro 3500 laptop for quite awhile. However the graphics driver sometimes breaks down and needs to recover. Although it is usable, it is not ideal.

I had to download and install the old driver XP 64 bit and run it as administrator and compatibility mode to run windows 8.1. It took some effort and fuss to make it work as well as it did.

But I tried to install windows 10 preview on the system, it won't let me install at all so I can't even get to the point where I can try the windows XP driver. When I try to install directly on this system.

However, I installed windows 10 preview on a computer different dell laptop are compatible and them moved the hard drive in the Vostro 3500 to see what would happen.

Windows 10 has worked on the laptop with the exception of the GeForce 310 m with an exclamation point in Device Manager. and also sometimes it crashed and had to recover

This tells me the only thing that prevents this laptop running windows 10 is the lack of a GeForce 310 m driver dell

Reference dell will publish an updated for this graphics card driver that it seams very unfair that a laptop computer for a year more than the other can be upgraded while the most recent spec, we can't. Just because DELL can't be bothered to come up with a new driver for windows 8.1 and windows 10

    Hello

There is a work around for this problem. go into your device manager, select the graphics cards.

When you see Nvidia go in and click on the driver tab below to uninstall the driver, remove it completely.

your screen will turn black and flash but do not worry, it is 640 x 480 (hehe)

Reboot the laptop, you won't then no driver at all. return to dell.com and redownload the driver video, looking for this file only R287485.exe

    www.Dell.com

    / support/Home/US/in/04/drivers/DriversDetails? driverId = XNK27 & 2731099326 = starts & osCode = W764 & productCode = vostro 3500 & languageCode = EN & categoryId = VI

These are video drivers Intel HD and are more stable then the drivers Nvidia too.

    Happy Windows 10 guy.

  • Vostro 3500 BIOS update failed - need recovery procedure

I got a Vostro 3500 laptop computer work and was doing maintenance to update. I downloaded and installed the BIOS update recommended for this laptop... Dell Vostro 3500 system BIOS 3500 has 12. EXE | Release date of BIOS of Windows/DOS (3 MB) 21/07/2014 updated 21/07/2014 recommended BIOS update failed and left no work of BIOS of the computer. F2 is dead. It will not start. I am sure that there a backup BIOS or primitive still, as when I start the machine without battery and power, using the end key he's constantly trying to read the data from a 2 GB flash drive. I guess he wants to reload the BIOS from a file. I know how to get the ROM content from the file above using the /writeromfile parameter. The big question is, what type of file the 3500 wants to read, and what is the name of the file it is seeking? Is the flash player must be bootable? What is a FRIEND or a Phoenix BIOS? Can someone please? Thanks, Terry

Here's how to recover a flash update BIOS of your laptop Vostro 3500 failure...

    1. download the Dell BIOS update .exe file to a USB flash drive.

    2. run the .exe with the /writehdrfile parameter file

    3. run the .exe with the /writeromfile parameter file

    4. copy the .hdr winery50.hdr

    5. remove the battery and the power of the dead computer

6 Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the computer of the death

7 press and hold the end key and then connect the AC power

    9. let the update at the end and then restart.

I have a Dell Vostro 3500 which restarts automatically once I have stop my laptop and unplug the power cord.  I also observed that light scroll in "keyboard and device lights" stays on. The only solution I have is to force the judgment that it restarts and then remove the dough every time.

Wondering if anyone in the forum also seen this sort of question and have a solution.

There is no error of this combination LED codes in Vostro™.  I also shot "Automatically restart on error" in the Panel.

    Hi riteshgarg,

I recommend diagnostics currently running on the computer (restart the computer now the FN and the power button). Let the full diagnosis and Note If you find any error message.

In addition, check in SafeMode with network. Restart the computer and press F8 on Dell logo and select Safe mode with network. Check to see if the same problem persists.

  • Enable or disable hybrid graphics functio on Bios Dell Vostro 3500

    My laptop is a Dell vostro 3500 i5 - 460 m nvidia 310 m hybrid graphics system with BIOS A10 (bi - gpu nvidia/intel)...

In the bios, the system show me only the nvidia 310 as graphics controller (to system information tab)

On the Advanced tab, I have no option to disable this hybrid graphics technology (I have a Media Device Option? what are we doing?).. .but

(http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/Vos3500/en/SM/Bios.htm#Overview) online support documentation, it displays an option to deactivate and activate the hybrid chart that you can see below

With this system hybrid I can only install drivers nvidia dell which is very old site, so I need the newest one of the nvidia site.

On Linux, I can't not all Accelerator 3D even with sources at sky pilots open = \.

My problem is: HOW can I DISABLE THIS GRAPHICS CARD INTEL?

It is a feature of In-processor or an In mother board? Change the processor for one who did not have this chart on board leave my system with only Nvidia 310 for graphics?

Reference Dell have plans save this characteristic show above, back in the next bios?
It is possible (yes/no)? Please, I need this answer

    I am with you all.

Dell should give us the option BIOS to decide what we want. The Nvidia hybrid or just graphics.

I mean hey, this is a documented feature.

  • Vostro 3500 automatic dimming of the display?

    Hi all

I found that my Vostro 3500 (15.6 WXGA LED display) is, sort of, automatically dimming the brightness of the display when the picture on the screen is dark.

It is very easy to reproduce this: I just put the paper painted in black, and I can see the brightness gradually dim. When I open a window, mainly white, the brightness increases again.

Is this a kind of "characteristic" (which I can't find anywhere and so no way to turn it off) and noted someone else?

Operating system is Windows 7 PRO x 64 with the latest drivers from Dell.

Interesting note: it seems that this behavior is present when Windows starts and loaded graphics driver. During the startup process, when the screen is black, 90% I did not notice the dimming. This would in my opinion a software about the behavior.

My next test will try with a live Linux, to see if it's really associated Windows or it is somehow in the firmware of the screen.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Concerning

    Giulio

If anyone is interested, I found the answer.

This is a feature of the Intel HD Graphics drivers, which can be disabled through the graphics card Intel and multimedia control panel, section "Energy conservation", by not checking the "Balanced" profile when on battery or AC power.

By default, when a battery this profile is selected the gradation is located.

    Hello swholmes,

I have a small question for you: did you tell you - assemble the laptop by chance?

I had this same problem and I say-assembled for the cleaning of the exhaust fan (the laptop was overheating)

The problem was that I had removed the CPU, and when I put back it, I forgot to turn the screw that holds the processor in the "locked" position When I did this thing, the problem was solved!

I hope that helps you as it solved my problem!

  • My laptop don't think it has Bluetooth.

Today, I bought a Bluetooth headset and I tested them by connecting them to my iPod 5. They worked perfectly well, but when I tried to connect to my laptop (Dell Vostro 3500, Windows 7 32-bit), I couldn't find the Bluetooth icon in the system tray. I searched "bluetooth" in the Start Menu and an icon came called "Bluetooth". I clicked it, but nothing happened. So I googled the problem and people said I had to reinstall the drivers, but when I do, it says: "no Bluetooth device was detected. Please make sure that your Bluetooth device is connected correctly in order to continue the installation. "My phone has built-in Bluetooth and even the Bluetooth symbol above the keyboard lights up. How can I fix?

  • HP mini 110-3500 laptop: computer laptop HP mini 110-3500 fails to start after the SSD upgrade

    Hello
I recently bought a ' crucial 250 gb 2.5 "SSD and 2 GB of RAM (also by crucial), to upgrade my laptop HP mini 110-3500, who has been extremely slow. But unfortunately, the laptop refused to start when turned on. What can I do? I am very worried.
    Enkay1

You answered. That's what I thought. You have DDR3L-1600 low voltage 1.35 volts. Low voltage will operate at a higher voltage (1.5 volts), but it is not the ideal memory for older hardware. Need memory DDR3-1333 name specified for the HP laptop. You can confirm or refute my diagnosis by putting in the memory of the old and see if it boots.

It's the part number you need:

    621567 001

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/2GB-compat-to-621567-001-A3803335-A4100445-A4427375-/230655741975?PT=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b4275017

Is your memory has 8 black on the side blocks or just 4? You want 8. Also if you have Windows 7 Starter, you can not use 2 GB of RAM.

  • Problem installing WIN 7 64 bit on a Vostro V131 with SSD

    Hello everyone,

I just got my new Vostro V 131 with i5 2430 M, 4 GB RAM, HD3000 graphics and standard 500 GB HARD drive!

I already had a new OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB SSD and wanted to change it against the bed on the HARD drive.

I put a boot Win 7 64 bit with SP1 on a USB key and started the system. I am able to choose my language setting and then click the button "Start installation". And this is the mess: Setup starts, then then tells me I need to install other drivers. I can't choose anything else but a reader where these drivers. So I downloaded the SATA (AHCI) support drivers for my controller from DELL. They are recodnized by the system as drivers and checked, but I just go back to the window that says Add. the drivers are needed. The SSD is recognized in BIOS and SATA set to AHCI. I was able to format and part with the victory included tools/recovery Partition.

OK, I checked for allmost everything, which could cause such problems. SSD firmeware is updated, set BIOS to update (as mentioned, SSDS is shown correctly). I put the SSD drive on an external HARD drive enclosure, and it has been shown in Windows as a normal USB storage device.

Everything I checked was correct, the SSD is identified and shown correct instead of the Win7 installation menu.

I am at the end of my ideas and hope that one of you can help out me!

    Thank you so far...

    Flo

I discovered what caused all this trouble ;-)

It was the USB port used! I don't know why, but the USB 3 port starts the installation and then want additional drivers! I swapped the USB 2 port and everything worked fine. ;-)

But thanks for the answer! Also, I don't have a DVD player ;-) If this would not have worked.

  • Dell Vostro 3560 500 GB + SSD32GB can't see SSD 32 GB more

    Hey Dell.

    I just new DELL Vostro 3560 i7 3612QM/8/500 + 32/Win 8/money.

Windows 8 seemed to be completely Basic (no chance to join in the work area or languages for the user interface), so I just deleted it with the installation from scratch of the normal mode of Windows 8 Professional VLC to my company. My experience of this type of activity is started at 21 (from Windows 3.0).

All fine except there is more no SSD of 32 GB. Windows 8 can see only 8 GB SSD drive (not assigned).

Same time in the BIOS, I can still read «32 GB of SSD SAMSUNG»

    What I did:

    1. Installer Windows 8 Pro to Boot DVD.
2 remove the old partitions as usual.
    3. install on HDD cool.
    4. do not touch anything in the BIOS.
    5. provided Dell's HARD disk drivers support site (from the sales of Dell Vostro 3560).

As a result, I can't activate TSRI (it worked in initially provided Windows 8 Basic and I saw for sure 8 + 22 GB of SSD it used for TSRI).

Looking online I found another cool affected person (even though he uses another OS) with identical symptoms:
    http://UbuntuForums.org/showthread.php?t=2113602

What should I do to force the Vostro to provide me with 32 GB SSD back again? All the goal I had when selection given powerful laptop computer was linked to the TSRI function, otherwise, I didn't need it.

Please let me know the solution.

    Kind regards
    Sergey.
