Support - disable ThinkVantage Access Connections - 3000 N200

Hello everyone,

How can I disable ThinkVantage Access Connections, so that I can use Windows to configure wireless.

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you

KeepGreen.

If you don't, you can uninstall in Control Panel... If you want to temporary disable it, go to bootmgr to search on your hard drive under the start menu, and then clear thinkvantage access under list of startup programs.

Or if you are using Vista, go to control panel, defender of windows-> tools-> software-> show for all Explorer users-> disable Thinkvantage access.

  • ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows XP on G41

I use a 2886-5TU G41 and I really screwed up.  I was cleaning my registry and it is a mess.  I lost all network connections, and they are not recoverable.  I reinstalled the software wireless and ethernet.  Device Manager reports the wireless card and Ethernet work.  But I can't connect what either as utilities connection - windows and IBM are corrupt.

I d/l the 83cx71ww.exe and followed all the instructions.  I reinstalled sp3, hotkey upgrade, NET 4, upgrade of power management before you install the dial-up connection.  Now, when I boot the message I get is that ThinkVantage Access Connections will not work on this system.

Y at - it somewhere that I can d/l the original supplied with this laptop for connections, files card WiFi and Ethernet card?  The latest just will not work.

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 - cannot access Rescue and Recovery - MBR poss problem?

I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 sick who was running XP home. I could not start XP and can only access the Rescue and Recovery utility in the Lenovo recovery Partition that would be to rebuild the hard drive to factory settings IE. Windows XP with no data. I managed to copy the data using a Paragon backup cd and then made the fatal mistake of attempting a repair MBR, which was a very tempting option on the Paragon rescue cd. Now, not only it does not boot to XP, but I can run is even more Rescue and Recovery to reinstall XP which is the problem!

If I boot with windows install disc and take the option recovery console it stops, statement that "recovery console could not find the hard drives connected to your computer. Setup cannot continue. "

I was wondering if someone another backup MBR restore could help me with this?

So, if someone has a Lenovo 3000 N200 work and is willing to try to save the MBR to send it to me, then please get in touch. It is probably useful to make a backup for yourself where the same problems happen to you!  In my view, there are a bunch of programs that backup the MBR for example MBRtool, MBRWizard and so on.

Any ideas, offer accepted with gratitude.

Yes I know I could buy the Lenovo recovery disk, but it is a matter of principle for me avoid paying £50 or so if I can avoid it! We'll see if we can help here...

    Thank you

    Simonides

    I am pleased Andyp!

The solution was to set the primary partition to inactive and value the recovery partition Active, then restart and use the Lenovo Care button (now finally works) to access the function of recovery so I could return the laptop to factory State.

No doubt there are plenty of ways to do it, but the approach I took to solve this problem is released under

    1. use another PC to download Paragon backup and restore (I actually used the trial edition now but the free edition may have a similar feature)

2nd burn a CD bootable backup and recovery 10.0.

    3. start the CD Lenovo, and after a long wait, a menu should appear with 11 options, the first of them being Paragon backup and restore.

    4. Select Paragon backup and restore.

5 select properties in the pick a task window and you will see two partitions, a big enough (in my case Go 143, called Preload) and the other is quite small (6 GB called SERVICEV001).

Note: this is an opportunity brilliant to use the Back Up Partition option to make a backup on external drive USB of the two partitions as the reconstruction of the hard drive with Lenovo Care button you will lose all data.

6 right-click the partition preloads and select Edit and set idle

    7. made the SERVICEV001 partition right click and select Edit and set the Active

8 remove the backup and recovery of CD and put it somewhere safe

    9. restart the PC and Lenovo Care button (might be called something different) should now work, allowing you to restore the hard drive to factory settings which will erase all data of a personal nature. You did a backup?

10 Windows should then start as usual, reinstall Paragon backup and restore, and restore your data.

Finally, look at this as a lesson to

    (a) you get a writable DVD and use the Lenovo menu under windows to create a floppy disk from Lenovo rescue and recovery started.

    (b) use Paragon or equivalent to create copies of images of each partition and ordinary differential copies of the primary partition.

I hope this will help other owners who have a hidden rescue for example partition. IBM and HP and would like to receive feedback.

Finally, I must acknowledge assistance patient e-mail provided by Taisia Smirnova Paragon support by offering me this solution.

    best, Simonides

  • Access connections 5.02 disables Wifi

I recently updated my T43 2686DFU with the latest updates of the system which included Access Connections 5.02 and the latest versions of Power Manager and Intel Wireless LAN drivers and now I can use is no longer my wifi - it is true that I have to carry a long LAN cable everywhere I'm lugging this laptop $ 1200.

I googled and checked several forum posts, most of them returning negative with the only solution is to move to Windows Zero wireless Config to use my wireless radio, but that simply does not work for me (it is said that it is connected, but it is not really connected to that I can't do anything online).

In fact, when I hit Fn + F5, a pop-up message tells me that there are no supported wireless adapters.

I tried all reboot Power Manager, logins, keyboard shortcuts and drivers wireless, uninstall, reinstall new versions and even reinstall the old versions and nothing does.  I hope for an update to any software that has messed up my laptop and working soon as most of the things that I need this machine for online and if there is no LAN plugin, I'm pretty damn good everywhere where I bring this thing.

Please do not make me buy a Mac!  I know one thing for sure - after I solve this problem, I uninstall the system update and NEVER update again (not the first time she missed for me).

OK, I played with all the settings on my computer for 2 weeks now and I finally fixed it!  This means that I will NEVER put my computer using system update again.  If it ain't broke - don't fix.

That's what I did (attention: cannot make no sense, but it in some way worked for me).

    1. go into network connections and highlight the LAN and Wifi.

    2. right click and "bridged connections."

    3. once filled, right-click on each LAN and wifi and remove the bridge.

4 remove the bridge which looks like a 3rd card WLAN (which brings back you to what you had before: LAN and Wifi).

After doing this, the dial-up connections started working again - IE. It's somehow figured out he could control my Wifi again!

However, still unable to connect.  I did ipconfig and it says "media disconnected" for my Wifi.

This is how I fixed it:

    5. upgrade to the Intel wifi adapter in the 9.0.4.39 2200 driver (last Intel site).

It works!  I can go to sleep now.

  • I have to disable firewall to connect to the Internet. Also pop-up windows to make a dial-up connection, but we have a 2 connection wires to broadband?

Program network networking Internet website website URL website network

I have to disable firewall to connect to the Internet. Also pop-up windows to make a dial-up connection, but we have a 2 connection wires to broadband?

    Help!

    Hi Barry,.

MSE is not the cause.  I suspect two things.  One, some ports in the firewall must be enabled to access the internet (your ISP should be able to tell) or you use a wrong port which is not activated, while the is correct.

Second, you set up like a dial instead of a connection to the local network through the router (which must also be configured and secured if there is no wireless capability), and then the LAN must be connected to the internet.  Essentially, your network configuration is incorrect and must be corrected.  As a general rule, all you need to do is contact your ISP technical support and if you walk through the process over the phone.

That's how I would handle it because even the experts here is perhaps not able to determine the appropriate settings for your ISP gave your versions of Windows and brands of routers and modems (and everything that needs to be connected).  They lose your business if you can't connect, and they have people who simply as for a life - often 24/7 - they are generally useful and really good in this.

If that doesn't work (and I bet than that), and so that I could take you through it here in general with more information about your hardware, OS, ISP and other, this is the wrong forum for this.  You start here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/networking?page=1&tab=all&tm=1300700638376.  Near the top, select your operating system from the drop-down menu to access the appropriate forum for your system.  Then post here like you did here, but give them all the details (manufacturer, brand and model of computer, network equipment, your exact version of Windows, what browser you are using and your network configuration).

    Good luck

  • 6.23 access connections wrote dangerous registry key

    ThinkPad W520 4282-A23. Win7-64; 6.23 access connections

Connections to access profile (slightly simplified) environment:

1.) office LAN: Ethernet; DHCP environment full

2.) home LAN: Ethernet; (192.168.2.8) fixed IP address; Router (192.168.2.1) DSL is the DNS server and default gateway and is also a DHCP server (mainly for WLAN clients, but will also answer on cable). All ethernet customers have a fixed IP address to allow independent operation of the DSL router.

Note: Automatic localization is enabled IN the configuration of the CA.

    Scenario of the (repeatable) error:

    (a) of operating successfully the Office LAN profile: office's LAN disconnect AC

    (b) stopping of the system

    (c) starting system (disconnected ethernet cable at home;)

    (d) connect ethernet cable:

Access creates the "Name Server" registry key with value 192.168.2.1 in the registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ key {...}, where {...} is the interface instance related to connections to profile 'Office LAN' (in this case: {9345B66E-EA2A-42AD-ACE5-03BE8E7FD63B}).

    (e) AC connect to profile 'Home LAN' (works ok)

    (g) system shutdown

    (h) starting system (plugged ethernet cable at the office, in a docking station;)

    (i) AC connection to the profile 'office LAN:

AC profile connection is successful, but the subsequent resolutions of name server fail. The system has received a full installation of DHCP, including name servers in the DhcpNameServer Key. However, the key 'NameServer' existing still in step d) above obviously outweighs the DhcpNameServers servers. As server names still points to 192.168.2.1, all name resolutions fail in the desktop environment.

Temporary problem solution: use regedit to manually remove the server from the registry key names.

I traced this down with ProcMon: Access Connections is the only process that never written in the key of the name server. More specifically (the call stack):

    ACon.dll AcRegistry 16: SetRegistryValue + 0 x 93 0x902f803 C:\Program Files (x 86) \Lenovo\Access Connections\ACon.dll
    17 ACon.dll AcSMBIOSHlpr::IsMasterSwitchExist + 0x21a5 0 x 9034895 C:\Program Files (x 86) \Lenovo\Access Connections\ACon.dll

I can provide more data on request.

I called Lenovo support. They said that ThinkVantage programs are not taken in charge.

The assistants here who can cast a magical spell?

After the latest Microsoft Windows updates, from January 15, the problem disappeared (with GIC760WW still installed).

  • Help! How to reset the CMOS on 3000 N200 model 0769?

    Hello

I need to reset the CMOS (the memory that contains the BIOS settings) on my laptop Lenovo 3000 N200 model 0769. Is it possible to do it without having to remove or the CMOS battery to short physically?

If I have to remove the battery, where is he? On other models of 3000 N200, the battery is under the keyboard and is removable (shown in the video on www.lenovoservicetraining.comand maintenance manual). However, for the model 0769 there no specific information. Page 99 of the service manual for the 0769 (42 x 3353 - 02.pdf on the Lenovo site) has a graph that shows what might be the CMOS battery near the right side of the main Board. Unfortunately it may well be soldered to the card, not removable.

Can anyone confirm if the CMOS battery is soldered to the motherboard?

It is possible that the CMOS is corrupted so that the POST/BIOS Setup screen does not appear. In this case, you need to reset the CMOS manually, for example by removing the CMOS backup battery, "a brick" laptop.

Fortunately, there is a way to reset the CMOS for the Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 model, which does not require the battery to remove or disable welded. It is not documented in the maintenance manual, but it can be extremely useful. If your machine sounds just a few times when you turn it on (Nothing on the screen, otherwise machine appears dead), it should reset the CMOS because that could save you having to RAM of the laptop, or pay $$$ for the out-of-warranty repair.

Turn off the laptop, remove the battery and the AC adapter / CC. Remove the access panel that covers the hard drive and the wireless card. Look at the corner of the CCP in the front of the wireless card. There are two metal tracks exposed labeled CLRP1. You must bypass these tracks together for a few seconds.

You can use the end of a small head screwdriver flat metal or if you have a multimeter set it to measure current and put a probe on each track.

After doing this the laptop must turn on correctly. He will tell you that the time and date is not defined, and that the CMOS checksum is bad. This is normal when the CMOS was reset. Press F1 to access the menu.

  • 3000 N200 upgrades

Having recently clean the housing of the fan on my 3000 n200, it made me think about a few things.

    1. my chipset is PM965 and socket P, which seems to be, I can go to any CPU socket P and has an 800 MHz FSB speed. Although in some places on this forum Isee the words "that the bios can support" so I wonder is there any outlet P processors that are not supported by the BIOS of my motherboard? The motherboard model is IEL10 and the BIOS version is 68ET35VWV if necessary.

    2. Another problem on this forum seems to be people who have updated the CPU on their laptop find overheating to be a major problem. So is it possible to replace the fan housing or heat sink with cooling more effective or is it a case of each laptop model is different and there is therefore no way to upgrade this fan/cooling system?

    3. If this is true, maybe go with a CPU with a lower TDP may be a good idea? My current T2310 works at 35W TDP then maybe go with a more powerful processor with a TDP of 25W would work out cooler / about the same?

    4. Furthermore, I wonder if my GPU can be upgraded, I know more GPU is soldered directly to the motherboard but my 3000 N200 has a GeForce 7300 Go, that CPU - Z making sure connects to the motherboard via a PCI-E connection that seems a bit... unlikely. The 7300 will connect through a connection of MXM or something, so I could replace it somehow?

If necessary, my 3000 N200 model is type 0769-BRG.

    1. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of data for the laptop Lenovo 3000 for me to answer your question in a meaningful way. The only problem with the CPU you got, is the small size of the secondary L2 cache. I learn by my friend if you can use the line Pentium Dual cpu T2310, there is a very good chance that the T8100 will work also. The T8xxx of CPU series, this is what you should aim for because of the lower TDP and hiding bigger L2. Unfortunately, there are not many people who change the laptop Lenovo 3000, compared to the thinkpads, so it's not terribly much information available about the motherboard.

3 TDP is a CPU thermal design power, which means the maximum heat output by a CPU core under maximum load. If the CPU die size and heat dissipation by the heatsink / fan is constant, then the TDP is directly related to the temperature of the CPU. Therefore a lower TDP means a lower temperature of the CPU.

T7xxx was bad due to the high TDP, leading to a laptop at high temperature. The series Uxxx and Lxxxx of all processors have low TDP, reason for which it runs a lot more fees.

TDP depends on processor architecture, transistor size and voltage.

You can disable the gauge AC - start Access Connections - switch to Advanced mode - click Tools - global settings - click on notifications - uncheck "show the tonnage of logins in the taskbar.

You can enable 'the status of connections access in the taskbar icon' at the same place.
