don't worry, it's not defragment the drive. Is the only thing that's going to do TRIM.

  • LR CC: HARD drive externally using as "To do" folder between devices?

I've subscribed to CC, have not yet taken the trouble with Photoshop that LR has a tendency to fill all my needs.

My main PC is the whole catalogue LR and where I do most of my "good" editing. However work recently gave me a 4 Surface Pro which is great for editing basis, review of bits and other parts.

I know that I can use the Mobile with LightRoom app for Smart insights fast flag/reject the workflow and changes Super Basic, but I was wondering how to work better between the Surface and the PC.

I have a "To Do" folder that I dump basically pictures of directly at the exit, the camera and this is what I would like to sync between devices. I tried to use OneDrive for this but the download speeds are so slow (Sony A7R2 RAW are 86 mb each!) that it is not really valid.

Can I instead put the folder "To Do" on an external hard drive, photos of dump that and then point LightRoom at it? So when it is connected to the Tablet, I can make changes flag etc., then can plug into the PC and it still has all edits and flags saved against these files? The Mobile app also highlights that for Smart previews too? Once marked as "done" export to the main PC.

I guess I'll have to lock the drive letter, but it will work until I have pay for a disk HARD USB3?

The SSD would be probably faster for read/write operations when compared to a normal external drive, I use both, but to compare as long as I can do what I want to do!  I tend to not worry about performance, unless it does not analyze the long! I have a catalog with dates back to LR 1 in 2007 and have used various means between 2 computers over the years!

Now, I tend to use the temp, or the location catalog when you use the portable computer, which is the 12-inch MacBook with a little similar to the Surface Pro SSD. Good luck.

  • Portege R700 - 15U HDD upgrade to SSD using recovery media

    Hello

The installed HARD disk was 320, he developed surface errors.

I decided that I would upgrade to an SSD. I got a 64 GB m4.

I swapped the drives and booted from the recovery DVD. He gave an installation option. Selected, then it opens a command prompt where it starts to partition the drive, everything ok, until it copies the files. It errors with "CRC error or HARD drive.

It is, with the resumption of Toshiba, there is more than 64 GB? How I choose partition sizes?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

And now your problem is solved or how to understand your second assignment?

Is that recovery disk can also restore the factory settings on another SSD or HARD disk. There is no problem and 64 GB should be enough.

These CRC errors could be linked to the SSD itself have you looked for an update of the firmware on the page of manufacturing SSD?
    Have you updated the BIOS?

  • Satellite L70-A-139 - SSD upgrade

    Hello

I have a Satellite L70-A-139, and I want to spend my HARD for one SSD drive. I already opened the back to see, and there is a label that saids "only 7mm.

The ssd I want to buy is an EVO of 840 SSD 250 GB.
But that one is 6.8 mm in height, the it will give installation problems?

    Thank you

I don't think so. Remove the two HARD drive mounting screws and disconnect the mounting of the HARD drive to the connector on the system board.

While the hard disk onto a flat surface and remove the HARD drive bracket.

To build again SSD shouldn't be complicated.

I hope that you have created a recovery media. If this is not the case, do. This recovery media, which you can use to install the original version of Windows that you got with your machine.

  • Install SSD on m7-n101dx

I am installing an SSD on a new HP Envy 17 "(m7-n101dx)."

I can't find this laptop service manuals that provide instructions on replacing the hard drive.

It is regrettable that the laptop does not seem to have a service on the bottom panel.  It seems that the merits of the case must be removed.

Does anyone know of a manual that provides instructions on how to replace the hard drive for this model?

I just installed my last generation 840 EVO in a new m7-n101dx DESIRE and it was much more complicated than what I am used to with the quality of HP consumer laptops.  HP no longer makes it easily accessible to replace memory, hard drives, etc.

    #1 solution:

Return the ENVY and buy a real enterprise-class laptop.

    #2 solution:

(The set is pretty flimsy and cheap.  Proceed with caution).

Remove each screw at the bottom of the laptop as well as all the screws black of the battery compartment.  Remove the optical drive, then unscrew the two matte black screws located at the edge of the optical drive Bay.  Release GENTLY the shell all bottom of laptop computer half body superior (keyboard surface) of the laptop.  It is easier to start from the leading edge and aim the rear corners by the hinges of the screen.  Once you separate the halves of the laptop, all components become available.  The HARD drive is connected to the motherboard with a Ribbon connector.  If you can disconnect carefully end SATA drive HARD with this that soft limited there, there's no need to mess with the end of the ribbon cable.

  • HD SSD for 2540p

    Hello

I have a 2540p with the i5 CPU, which has a 240G 2.5 "SATA in the expansion Bay (instead of DVD)

I want to update to SSDS, but I've read a few bits of information.

Can I replace the current 2.5 "hdd with a SSD 2.5"? If so can I replace it with a 240G 2.5 "SSD, I read that it should be of 1.8" and 128G.

I do use all of the surface of disk 1.8 "under the computer? or is it not possible to use it in any form on the i5?

    Thank you

    Brian

No, the reader that fits into the optical Bay adapter is a 2.5-inch SATA drive. See page 64 of the manual. You can use any 2.5-inch, SATA disk including any capacity SSD. Your 1.8-inch drive bays are not active.

  • ThinkPad 600 X 2645-4EU with SSD

    Hello!

    It's a 600 X 2645-4EU. BIOS is BIOS ITET55WW, 30/11/99

I bought it used in 2003. I've used from time to time. A few days ago, I bought an SSD Transcend TS128GSSD25-M.

I installed Windows XP Pro SP3 without any problem, it works perfectly (and it goes very fast with 576 MB of RAM in hibernation).

The problems came with Win98SE / BACK.

Firstly, fdisk fails to do anything: for example, it can erase previous partitions, but after it shows me error on writing to the hard drive. In addition, fdisk cannot create new partition: he just get stuck at 0% when checking the surface (I waited for about 30 minutes).

So, I created the FAT32 partition using the Windows XP Setup program: created a 16 Gb partition, then chose 'use the BOLD', and after he began to copy files, I interrupted Installer and booted up disk Win98 system. Then I can go to the c drive and even run "dir" - everything seems fine, at least to read works SSD. Then I start the Win98 installation (setup.exe). First of all, it runs scandisk. ScanDisk works ok, says no error. But then the win98 Setup displays an error: "ATTENTION: a serious error has occurred while writing to disk C. Retry (r)?'." And stucks.

I tried to do the following, to ensure. I've run ' echo 123 > test.txt' and got an error "General write error: drive C, A (Abort), R (Retry), F (failure)?'." I chose 'A' then run 'dir '. I realized that "test.txt" has been created, but it is length 0 bytes. When I try to "copy con test.txt" I got no error, but ' 0 files copied.

I would like to mention, that I had no problem, when it is used the previous hard drive Seagate 160 Gb - the two BACKS and Win98SE worked well. (Yes, 160 GB worked fine in this ThinkPad)

Please help me with a solution to this problem or maybe there are other ways (not official, some settings or something else). It is necessary for me to install and use the BACK/Win98.

I tried this SSD on another computer (normal office, m/b is Acorp VIA85P), and everything worked ok here. I booted up normally a Win98 system drive, 'fdisk' is normally used to remove old and create new partitions, 'format' the system drive. All write operations are working well.

So it seems to me that the problem is in the ThinkPad BIOS.

BUT. Anyway, WinXP works ok even on ThinkPad of BIOS. Maybe there is a work around for back/win98?

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards, Serge.

    Serge,

Not sure what you are trying to make the size of the partition, but it looks like you can try to do something that is not supported by Win98.  In addition, the SSD CHS (cylinder / head / sector) numbers can be such that they cannot be reconciled properly by the BIOS of 600.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184006/ for the limitations of FAT32.

  • Windows 8 and/or Surface Pro supports "connected standby mode?

    Hello

I just read that ' a Windows 8.1 feature called connected standby mode, which allows computers to be put into mode 'sleep' and wake up instantly, is available today than in the 32-bit version "is the reason why" first Trail Bay tablets will use only the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1 ".»

But if this is true, don't would then not it means that the Surface Pro running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit is therefore unable to use "connected pending"?

I didn't notice the Surface Pro or the W700 Acer having problems coming out pending, then perhaps 'connected standby mode' is another type of sleep?  Can someone explain to me.  The "instant on" feature (the case of illusion, or for real) is what tablet users and so Windows 8.

Our company has been delaying the replacement of our laptops Windows XP until the release of 2.4 GHz, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, SSD 256/512, 4 G/LTE Mobile Broadband Bay Trail devices come to market.  As a benchmark, we are looking for a device (/ Ultrabook/Tablet laptop computer) that would be able to effectively deliver business applications, for example Adobe Photoshop, MS Powerpoint.  2 to 4 GB of RAM will not be enough.

It will be Haswell devices without a fan, we have to buy these, even if they are much heavier and have reduced the battery life because it seems that it would not be until 2015 that see us peripheral Bay Trail capable business, see the articles below.

    http://www.TomsHardware.com/news/Atom-Bay-Trail-Valleyview, 19244.html
Mobile Atom SoC stay 32-bit at least until 2015
Somewhat surprising is the notion that Intel will keep its Silvermont Atom processor as a 32-bit platform until at least 2014. Customers who need the ability of 64-bit Atom will have to the Centerton Atom-S the microserver-based processor. It is not known if the successor of Silvermont, the 14 nm Airmont, will move to 64-bit

    https://www.NetworkWorld.com/news/2013/091213-Windows-81-tablets-with-64-bit-273770.html

Buyers looking for a tablet with the new Bay Trail Atom from Intel chip and a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 will have to wait until early next year.

Intel executives said Wednesday the first Trail Bay tablets will use only the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1, despite the support of 64-bit on the chip.

Tablets with OS 32 bit have a limit of 4 GB of DRAM memory, while 64-bit can actually support 512 GB. Most of the first tablets Trail Bay with Windows 8.1 will not more than 4 GB of memory, said Steve Smith, Vice President and Director of development for the tablet at Intel.

"We have the capacity, now it's a matter of when a system of consumption needs, it's probably somewhere in the future, I would say that a few generations away ', said Smith.

The reason is the limitation in the software of Microsoft, said Nathan Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight 64. A feature of Windows 8.1 and wake up instantly, called Eve connected, which allows computers to be put into mode 'sleep' is available now than in the 32-bit version.

Microsoft adds functionality to the 8.1 Windows 64-bit, and it will be available in early 2014.

Intel also does not feel 64-bit is required on consumer shelves, even if he knows what IT managers want 64-bit compatibility on all PCs and mobile devices in the enterprise.

Intel is developing a smart Tablet Trail separate Bay scheduled for 64 bit versions of Windows 8.1, and the processor will be available in the first quarter of next year, said Chris Walker, Director general of tablets at Intel Mobile Communications Group.

2 Surface Pro supports NOT connected to sleep, even if it uses the "Haswell" chip, which supports this mode.

There is a world of difference between standby connected and traditional modes of 'Sleep' and 'put to sleep '. Basically, connected to standby mode, the system really is, but requests are suspended for most. See here for a Microsoft document that gives an introduction connected mode standby.

I don't know why the 2 Surface Pro does not deliver sleep connected; I've seen several data, possible reasons for why this might be true:

    • The 64-bit Windows 8/8.1 version does not support it.
    • It is necessary that the material to be a fanless design (Surface Pro 2A fans).
    • It is necessary for the design to have TPM (Trusted Platform Module) version 2.0 (Surface Pro 2A version 1.2)

Whatever the reason (and it can be one or more of the above), it is disappointing that a product of the so-called phare does not support the feature.

  • CP on Surface Pro 4 9

I have anyone using Captivate 9 on a Pro 4 of Microsoft Surface? I wonder if there is no performance or usability problems.

When I am on the road or camping, I use 9 Captivate on my Surface Pro 4. Coincidence: I just finished a project on this topic there half an hour. It works great but I have an i7, SSD 256 GB processor.

  • Try everything LR & PS CC (2015) on Surface Pro 2 Core i5 (1.9 GHz double heart) and 8 GB of RAM

I needed to get a Tablet for attaching purposes and want to use Lightroom CC (2015) and watched a renovated Surface Pro 2 with the Core processor i5 (the version that has a basic stock of 1.9 GHz speed and is a dual core, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD).

It has the Intel HD4400 graphics and up to 1.7 GB memory graphics.

My only other option, that would be running me twice, is a Surface Pro 4 with Core i5, who works at a speed of 2.4 GHz and Intel HD520 graphics (which from what I've read, are very similar to the HD4400 and the difference is not very noticeable).

Can someone tell me if LR and PS CC 2015 will work on it for basic stuff (tethering, light photo editing, etc.)?  My main goal is engaging with the Tablet as my laptop ordinary (which weighs 7 pounds and a 15 "screen) is not possible for use on the field during the filming (I do landscapes and nature).

From what I've observed, performance can vary greatly between computers that seem to have exactly the same specifications. Performance can be affected by how you have personally set up the computer and other unknown factors. If you really want to know, just try it.

  • First Pro CC almost unusable on Surface Pro 3

I use a Surface Pro 3 (i7, 8 GB of RAM) to create YourTube videos in first Pro CC high range. I'm important regular 1080 p / 30 frames per second and considerable content of my Canon G16.

The clips copy the device reading perfectly if I open them just the OS. But within the first reading is borderline unusable. To the naked eye, it seems I'm getting one frame per second - extremely nervous. I tried turning playback resolution up to 1/4 and challenging.

The bottleneck seems to be the CPU that exceeds 90% when I read a single clip. The change is quite heavy in this scenario. by comparison, when I play back the same gross clip outside the first I see CPU usage of 30 to 40% and flawless playback.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can trouble / change this?

Moreover, I know son as often end up 'Dump Machine X and go to the Machine Y' I get 3 Surface Pro is not a perfect machine for video editing but not really interested to spend away from him at the time - it's an impressive machine for me in all other respects so seek to use to my editing too much video.

    Thank you.

These numbers may be useful, but even more so if one is rather better informed than most of us are so...

Here is an external, which may be a much better choice...

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820147511

It is one of the new Samsung SSD T3 for USB3/3.1 external and is tested sustained almost internal read/write speeds, it's a little less than $100 USD to Newegg as shown in the link I posted. It will significantly improve the performance on this WD Passport, that however work very good as extra work of storage/backup.

Now, all of this presupposes that writing to disk is a major issue, which is probably... However, some motherboards have simply flow capabilities to really show a significant increase. They either combine or short the capabilities of their drive, their RAM or the ways of the CPU access.

One of the things to come who can help... the last few editions, hardware capacity requirements have increased each time. The following deployment 2016, will include a number of changes that will allow the lower gear to work at least enough, especially... they take the function to ingest the prelude in Import of PrPro functions, with a new twist:

You will be able to transcode (that you can as a prelude) during the import, but more precisely... for a easier to change the codec that you can then use for general work and with a simple click on an icon, be back to your full-codec media to see what look like your changes. They are currently in use, he could make things a lot easier on the portable edition / surface. You can choose a setting that is say half the number of pixels but same proportions, yet at a lower compression, so it is also much less mobile and decoding data processor while working. However, any change, especially while the chronology is paused, you can click on to see the "full" media and get this screen instantly, then return to your "proxy" setting and continue to work.

If past practices apply, the roll-out it debut at the NAB show will be published current mid-late June.

  • Surface Pro 3 + IE 11 + Acrobat XI does not

    Hello

I use Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with Windows 8.1 Pro and Acrobat Reader XI and Internet Explorer 11. I use Surface Pro for my work and in the normal course of the day I need to access a lot of pdf files from the website of our company. Whenever I click on a link that opens a PDF in a new window or in a tab in Internet Explorer 11, that window/tab gets frozen and I cannot interact with the pdf file for a good 1-2 minutes and then I can work with it. For example, from www.irs.gov by selecting Form 1040 (even if it is a 2 page form) took 1 minute and 34 seconds to become sensitive.

During this time my CPU usage is 37% and 43% memory and disk 0%

    My specs are:

Intel Core i5-4300U CPU 2.50 GHz

    8 GB Ram

    256 GB SSD

Please advise as it becomes quite a question especially with customers over the phone or in person, where we wait 2 minutes for a PDF to become sensitive.

    Thank you

    Hi Eddie,.

  • How to change back to SSD HARD drive?

My mcbook pro comes with the original 500 GB of HARD drive. When he ran with a problem, I went to an apple repair shop. Problem was in the charts, and he suggested the HARD drive to be replaced by a 120 GB SDD. So it has been replaced, but the guy on the left HARD drive as a storage device. Moment where DDI is left with small space and when I update to OS X El Capitan of OS Sierra, it had to be installed in the HARD disk drive. Could someone please give instructions to install the new OS to the SDS to lose all my data and the current configuration and it is also possible to install windows XP on the HARD drive and 10.  Either by the way, I got Windows 10 and XP shared with the SDS via parallels. Thank you

I think this can be useful for you:

How to use an SSD with your HARD drive

If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.

After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.

Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.

Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.

Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.
