Switch SG200 - 26 & questions

Hello, I am a small business owner trying to set up a network in my office with VOIP phone service. I have a little understanding of networks, but am not a professional. We have a SG200 - 26 pass and have access to the internet via a modem cable of the Charter Business. The modem cable is plugged into one of the ports on the switch. We also have a plugged into the cable modem wireless router. Internet and Wi - fi works very well. I have a dynamic ip address.

I could not get an IP phone to receive an IP address of the switch. Voice VLAN is enabled, so I don't know what the problem is. Marketing of Cisco touted plug-and-play VOIP, but it seems that it's not so easy!

I spent half a day, this research so far and have not been able to solve the problem. Any suggestions or advice to a person with similar problems if all goes well would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

The modem must be connected to the WAN port on the router or a 'internet'. The modem should not be connected to the switch at all.

Internet-> Modem-> router-> Switch-> phones/computers

    The is correct. Any customer with a license 4.0 can do double switch. You don't need a special permit.

  • Circuits on Cisco Switch SG200-50

    Hi all

    I'm trying to inter vlan routing using Cisco Switch SG200-50 with router Cisco 1941. The router I created three subinterface for VLAN1, 2, 3 and VLAN1 is vlan native. I have a LWAP with Cisco WLC connected to the same switch. I have activated assignemnet vlan dynamic using Windows /NPS. RADIUS Wireless successfully user can authenticate as well the vlan is assigned, but unable to ping the router subinterface.

    On the switch, you must activate the trunk port connected to the router ports and AP, tried all means, what makes the trunk port and General, nothing worked. users are unable to ping the gateway.

    If you have worked on this switch, pls help how to on this subject.

    If the Cisco technical support team can help me, that would be great

    Hi Joseph, creating a general port and disable the input filter and label properly login vlan. Also make sure your sub interface are dot1q.

  • Help with the VLAN on SG200-18 and two switches SG200-08

    Hello world. My apologies, but I'm only average at best with my CISCO skills. I have simple installation running some network devices connected via 3 CISCO switches. It is small office and two bedrooms - one with the servers and the other with the printer and pc. Each room has 8 ports SG200-08 pass.

    Router / firewall is Sonicwall TZ215 and manages the internal routing between VIRTUAL networks. Each SG200-08 was directly connected to TZ215 (no SG200-18 again) and VLAN worked perfectly. Please see diagram below...

    Problems started when I added in the Center SG200-18 more to handle additional devices. Everything that I'm doing wrong, but I can't do VLAN longer works. Something I won't set up correctly in SG200-18.

    Please help me to Setup VLAN here - tag, unidentified, PVID, trunk... I am completely lost and already had to reset SG200-18 twice.

    My work without port switch 18 Setup was like that.

  • WRT320N used as switch gigabit single - Question

    Hello friends,

    I use WRT320N a few days now and I'm happy with it so far! It has not overheated as many people reported and performance is also great (wifi and gigabit ports). I tested all the functions (NAT, Advanced Wireless Settings, Port Forwarding,... Access Restrictions) - all the great work, but I'm bit stuck on that easier - temporarily configure it as regular gigabit switch with an IP address: I put my cable WAN and LAN cables in ethernet ports 1-4. NAT, DHCP and firewalls are disabled in the router. I have the DHCP server in my network which is based on the MAC address IP address assignment. In "Setup" > "Basic settings" > "Router IP," I want to set up automatic configuration - DHCP, but it is not possible, so I just type the same IP address, it must obtain from the DHCP server (in this case 10.109.249.42). All ethernet ports 1-4 has the same MAC address (in this case, 00:25:9 C: 4 d: 16:86)?

    Everything works fine, my computer's IP addresses are correctly assigned (as well as wifi devices) from the DHCP server on my network, but I feel like WRT320N address is unaffected - the problem is that I can't connect to the router under http://10.109.249.42 administration. There is no IP restrictions for remote management. Any ideas?

    Routers Linksys WRT are not designed to be used as a simple access point/ethernet switch. That's why you won't find any configuration options you like for this configuration. You must configure a static IP address to the address LAN IP on the WRT. There's no other way. It's always a static IP address. The WRT will never get the address LAN IP of the server because it is designed to serve as a internet gateway and the DHCP server.

    It is clear to me why you are not able to access http://10.109.249.42/ while you are able to access the status page...

    Is the computer from which you are trying to access the router within the 10.109.249. *?

  • SG500-28 2 switch battery Configuration Question

    I have two switches of port SG500-28 I want to setup as a stack for purposes of failover for a NFS storage device. The NAS will be on a LAN VIRTUAL (VLAN2) and the other VLAN (VLAN1) will be to users and the domain server. I'll put the configuration in place

    Each switch will have ports 1-6 & 13-18 years for VLAN 2 and 7-12 & 19-24 for VLAN1

    NAS NFS with team of network cards and an IP address of 172.16.10.10 on VLAN2, with on each card network goes to each of the switches.

    Server with partner cards network and one on with on VLAN1 192.168.10.10 IP address of each network card goes to each of the switches, users will be distributed on both switches.

    The cumulation function is quite simple and implementing VLANs through the ports is still simple, but I don't know if there are other parameters that I need to configure on the switch to allow the load balancing of server on both switches.

    Advice would be appreciated.

    I think you're missing link aggregation here for grouped on the NAS and Server NIC.

    The correct order would be:

    1. turn the battery - I assume you have already done

    2. set the OFFSET with LACP or without depending on the other end

    3 configure the logical framework of the channel/LAG/Etherchannel Port as access port for VLAN respective

    to check if everything is good to go use:

    1. display the battery

    2. display the spanning-tree port-channel protocols - to see if the OFFSET is operational as an interface

    3 see the mac interface port-Television address table - to check the VLAN function

  • Connect 2 switches SG200-26 with two VLANS separated

    Well, I'm going to cry uncle and ask the community of cisco to help here... Here's what I'm trying to accomplish.  I have two cabinets in a data center with four available cross connect cables.  I want to put in place two discrepancies between the two switches which will each be a vlan through to the other.   My vlan by default contains all my servers on it (10.0.0.0/8) and my backup vlan (192.168.200.0/24) will only be used for data backups and iscsi traffic.  For the moment, I have a cable connecting the two switches and it works very well for the vlan by default.  When I add a second cable and set it on vlan 200, no matter what I try settings it just does not pass traffic.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, stupidly, but well, I never claimed to be a networking expert, that's why I'm here asking for help!

    I have made several attempts to get the second connection works, marked, unmarked, trunk, access, etc.  Can someone be tell me is this the real solution, or point me to the documentation, so I can solve this problem?

    Hello Yitz'har,

    SG 200 switch does not support EMU, PVST and PVST +. None of the products of small businesses currently support any proprietary protocol which is not IEEE or equivalent. The exception to this idea is COP which was added about 18 months in the LWA 1.1 releases to better integrate voice, onplus solutions and interact with business networks.

    Work that we discussed yetserday in your case is to disable the covering tree generally define the bpdu filtering.

    The system flashes green which I understand means that it is currently using the default IP 192.1681.254.

    1. do I need to connect a computer directly into it to get on the Web site? Or do I just use any computer on the local network that uses an IP address from that subnet 192.168.1.x?   The subnet in this branch is etre.1.x in any case.

    2. these instructions in order to use a computer on the same subnet - what is State only when it is in its configuration by default or always? i.e. I'll only ever be able to reach these switches from a computer within the respective branch?  Or, for example, may switch to the branch 1 (sous-reseau.1.x), be configured to allow access to a computer at the head office (sous-reseau.0.x) or via the VPN (sous-reseau.254.x)? How?

    3. how to respond to pings?

    Hi shead, if you connect this switch in a network with DHCP, the device will get a DHCP address for the IP address of management.

    To be able to get web access to a different subnet, you must set the default gateway of the switch of the device, which will happen the router, the sx200 will not forward anything.

    The switch responds to ping by default then there is another problem.

When the menu appears, it displays a list of all the open documents in Photoshop. (Actually, I modified this script so there is no switch documents instead of copy the active layer to another document... somehow I managed with very basic knowledge, I )

    The selection of default document (the name of the document that is highlighted in the menu) when the list is opened is '0 '.

    I am looking for a way to recover the highlighted selection to take into account the document assets instead of '0 '.

    I think it's somewhere in this line of code:

    Apple are taking over my annoying Mac Pro tomorrow and should be replacing in the coming days with a new machine. I am preparing everything now, and I want to reinstall using Time Machine, once the new computer is here, but I was wondering what to do about Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3 with regard to activation is concerned? Can I suspend or permanently disable on this old Mac Pro before I wipe the main drive? The two programs are also installed on an old iMac and I want to keep them there.

    Also on the issue of licenses, I have a Windows laptop and I wonder if I am able to run Lightroom on this computer as well?

    Sounds like the representative of Adobe needs of more training. Or it is confusing LR license with license of Photoshop.

    You can certainly install (and activate) LR on portable Mac and Windows, using the same serial number (cross-platform).

    I have LR3.6 to activate successfully on a Win 7 Ultimate laptop and a MacBook Air running OS x Lion.

    I recently bought the Smart Switch SG200-08, but I have some "beginner questions" on this subject that I started using it.

    The edge of the watch 1.0.1.0 firmware. What is the latest firmware for the switch?

    Should I enable auto configuring IPv6 and DCHPv6 in my switch settings to be ready for IPv6 as my ISP it place on the road?

    How can I go about changing of the switch username? I could easily change the password, but with problems for the user name to modify.

    Do I need to do anything on the LLDP-MED settings? What is that?

    How can I confugure time settings system so that the switch works in my timezone (Central USA time)?

    Hi Nathan,

    (1) firmware: it seems that the latest firmware for the SG200-08 is 1.0.5.1.  You can get it in the Software Download Center. I don't know if this link to the software would work, but let's see.

    (2) IPv6: You use NAT of your router? You're going to be using ipv4 or ipv6 internally addresses? Making assumptions on your network, I would like to leave it turned off for now.

    (3) user name: in the user interface web ther, click the administration drop-down list, and then click user accounts. You can add/modify/delete here.

    (4) LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) and CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) allows the switch directly connected neighbors and see their capabilities and settings automatically. Do you use other Cisco devices on your network or IP phones? For example, the vlan voice can be automatically determined using CDP/LLDP.  Please see p. 53 of SG200 Manual here for more details.

    (5) system time can be set under administration-> settings-> time time system.

    I just bought a switch SG200 - 50 p to replace a WS-CE500-24LC, who had a limited duration (4) PoE ports.  I was running points of access Cisco 7940 IP Phone, Cisco AP1231 and AP1100 via PoE out of this switch.

    When I try to connect these types of devices in the SG200 - 50 p they don't feed upward.  What is going on?  Why these devices (IP phone 7940, 7960, phone IP, AP1100 series access point, AP1231 series access point) do not get PoE switch SG200 - 50 p?

    Is there a setting to allow these devices to receive switch PoE?

    The modern series switches SGx00 accept 802.3af compatible devices.

    A coursory look at these devices, they are pre standard POE.  Check the URL of questions below for answers regarding at least the phones.

    But no where in the datasheet for the AP1231 I see that the AP 1231 is compatible 802.3af.

    There is a solution in the URL below, that is to choose a switch that can provide standard and compatible POE.

  • REALLY basic question about SG200 - 50 p

    My question is: no matter what switch port I connect my router port to, or are all the ports on the switch 50 identical?

    Background: I have a switch SG200 - 50 p in my house.  I struggled to find the cause of the slow who produce despite the consistent low ping times and speed of Web page loading tests. Page load speed is variable, making it harder for me to unravel, but stagnating always to some extent. However, when I bypass the Cisco switch and connect a computer directly to my router (a gateway uVerse), speeds seem to be very reliable. Then, when I move the cable (from the bridge) to an another Cisco switch ports (one of expansion ports) and then reconnected the computer switch, speeds are now equivalent, directly from the router and through the switch.

    My conclusions are just a coincidence?

    I am helping a company data selection switch and VoIP for a small company of about 40 users who is penetrating new spaces and adding VoIP.

    The subnets of voice and data will be routed to the other.  No VLAN or QoS are necessary according to the VoIP provider.

    They need ports gigabit PoE 22 for phones and no PoE ports of 40 +.

    The part-time computer scientist on the spot has no experience in the management of the switches.  So, they think about the use of six switches of SG100D - 08 p unmanaged for the PoE ports with all what SG100 switch to non PoE ports.  However, it seems that both switches of series SG200 (SG200 - 50 p and SG-200-50 or SG200-26), would be easy to set up for this purpose and require little management.  They have most of the equipment rack mounting.  It seems that SG200 switches would solve what could be a mess of this and son with six SG100D - 08 p of

    I understand that little, if any requirements for a non - PoE switch SG200-xx. Is this correct?

    Can someone please comment on how the SG200-xxP switches are easy to use and advice or suggestions?

    Hi Caseranch, please consider that SG200 switches are not POE on each port only 1/2 of the ports. At a switch 48 Port POE 24 ports. I know this should meet your requirement, but for the future expansion of POE, another POE switch.

    You're right, in this sense, the SG200 needs very little to zero configuration. The only thing I recommend is if you buy a switch to manage, upgrade to the new firmware, factory reset the device and then install and connect things for her. This should be sufficient based on the way you describe things.
