T42 2379-DXU Planar CMOS Clear?

Greetings,

I have TP above to the refurb. I knew that the BIOS has been locked. Cleared POP passes but it must be a please again.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Donald

Moderator edit: password beating deleted questions.

Remove the CMOS battery will not remove the UDC. It lights up only them. Also there is no switch to clear the password on the planar.

Yes, you can use the hard disc T4x in the T2x. As they are physically identical.

PS the questions about the substitution of password procedure are not allowed on the forum of Lenovo. Thank you for your understanding.

    Hanspuppa,

I started to pull the CMOS battery to check on a voltmeter when, under a strong light, I finally realized that the configuration of jumpers PIN is inverted for blocks PWD NET and CLEAR CMOS.  The pins are arranged for CLAIRE PWD 123 and 321 to CLEAR CMOS.  The first image of the instructions (below) is the Basic setting for jumpering 12 CMOS and CMOS_PWD pins.  I missed the pin numbering sequence on the CLEAR CMOS and thought they were in the same order as the CLEAR_PWD block.  (i.e. the CMOS could not be reset because pine 23 were closed when they were believed to be 12).    I wanted to add one suggestion for others who may run into this.  Maybe could avoid any confusion with the text to explain that, in addition to a third of images showing (copy of the first) the return to basic configuration.  The cause of the confusion about this wsa being not not able to read all the pin codes and believe incorrectly that the two blocs would have pins arranged in a similar sequence when they are not.

See Attention to detail!  Click to expand the Clear CMOS or clear CMOS_PWD.

My apologies to all those who have looked into this.

Two nearly adjacent jumper blocks have a reverse PIN.  After the erase (reset), they must be reset as indicated below.  I may have issues pending on the update of the BIOS under Win7.

  • CMOS Checksum Error Inspiron 570

Recently, we had a power failure where the power came from top to bottom.  Once the power was restored, I turned on the computer and displays an error message (forgot exactly what he says) but there were two options (I think) F2 and F12.

I searched online for this error message and it seems to indicate an issue that could be resolved by clearing the CMOS.

So I removed the battery, set the jumper CMOS clear, waiting 30 minutes, put the jumper back and put the battery back in.   The message I saw was gone, but in its place, I get this message:

    CMOS Checksum Error
Press F2 to start the INSTALLATION
Press F1 to load default values and continue

However, pressure on one of the buttons does nothing as if the keyboard entry is not registered.

I tried another keyboard - no change.

I tried a different battery - no change.

I tried to use a barrette of ram - no change.

  • Bad video port, can I get an expansion card video or what I need to replace the motherboard?

I have a Compaq SR2150NX, the monitor works on another PC, but will not be on this one, so I guess the video port is bad.

Can I get a plug in video card and install it, or do I need to get the motherboard replaced?

If I can get a video card, I can't know how to disable the frame on one, I need to disable or how I?

My computer is a HP 5188-6734 motherboard and I can't find this one exactly, but I found a HP 5188-5588 one on e - bay for about $70, which seems to be and seems that I can tell, exactly like what I have.  Can I replace the one I have with this one without any problems?

    Looking for help.

You are this posting in the wrong forum, this is a forum of the laptop and is a desktop system.

Yes, you can get a video card, install and use it.  However, you sure is that the video works is not, or is it possible that the video didn't come out because you have a larger problem as the system's not initialization and display at all, because of a sort of failure such as food or the card mother?

If you have a spare PSU, you can try exchanging it instead of the original.  If you have a spare video card, even a few old (especially some former) PCI worthless, that you can install to see if you get any screen output.  Note that you need to maybe use the CMOS clear jumper or remove the battery for 10 minutes, while the power supply is disconnected after adding a video card, or by deleting and trying to use the video again.

I don't know if the specifications of the two Councils are quite similar, you should look at the datasheet for your system and compare that against what ebay sellers asking them is capable of.   Generally if you have a processor socket 775 lines they list and your using the same chipset, you should be able to simply plug in the parts and windows must be able to start pretty far to plug-and-play all the minor differences.  This is the situation in which I expected, you can buy the replacement cards model you mentioned and it works perfectly except possibly having to install a driver or two, but I can't be sure without detailed specifications.  They are very close to the info, I have found, might even be just a 2nd revision of the same Council of PCChips where everything what they changed was a clock IC generator or something similar that would not do your use in any way, except that to be sure, you have the good bios when looking on the HP site for the models with this Council in there instead of the bios for your system model #. If they take even a different bios which they cannot.

You must watch the CMOS clear diagram and diagram of obvious password together, somehow.

The side left (pins 2, 4 and 6) is the side CMOS, and you drop this rider (leave it on pins 4 & 6).

You want to move the jumper on the picture on the side right of the diagram to clear the password.

You remove 5 and 3 pins and place on the pins 1 and 3.

  • TouchSmart 520: The computer is stuck on the opening of the screens.

    Hi all

It will be a little long because I try to give as much detail as possible. I have a desktop HP Touchsmart 520. The other day, I want to run an OS based on Linux from a USB key. I did once before, so I did what I did the last time. I unplugged, take off the back, then removed the hard drive, then plugged the USB key. I was hoping that since I didn't drive hard in, the computer would then operate the stick because of the boot order. He did bring up the screen of the OS, but gave me an error on failure. I turned it off and then return and go to the bios to change the configuration. I found the USB from the menu, but couldn't move, so I tried to disable the first option for the hard drive. I plugged the USB back in, but it does not still work, so I tried to drive hard back. Something happened somewhere in all this, the computer froze, so I tried to hit different buttons to see if I could get an answer, but nothing, so I cut. When I cut back on, I can't no longer to enter the BIOS. The usual HP screen comes up and says press ESC to enter on the start menu, and if I hit him in the first second coming he will take me to a black screen that has my computer on this subject record, starting with the processor type, processor speed, etc. (if I hit any button in a moment the computer hangs on the HP screen). This black screen is as far as I can go and the computer always crashes here, no matter what button I push, but it is said in the lower right corner of the activity for any button I pressed on, for example if I press F2 on the HP screen, it will go to the black screen with my characteristics and in the lower right It will read Diagnostics; If I am pressing F10, it will do as above but read the configuration. He never goes beyond this screen. I know that's not my hard drive, because he wasn't in when it started happening, nor is it possible that a virus has been on the USB port, as it's a BONE checked and I do not use this stick for something else. I know that something happened when I was in the BIOS, but I don't know how to fix it. Nobody knows what is happening or what I can do to try to fix it? It would be very appreciated that I can't afford to take it in, and I don't think it's a bad thing in the first place, I don't know what I'm doing. Thanks to you all!

    Hello

seems that there is a corruption of the bios. First try to make BIOS clear CMOS. He must go, unplug the power supply, open it on the back and to remove the RTC (real time clock) battery for a couple miutes and then turn the unit and go to the bios and load bios defaults. As a guide to go and use the services for your product guide. You specify exactly which model you have (model number or product number), but look on hp.com for service guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03357415 for more details.

Note that this operation to be experienced user but you wrote that you have disconnected the HARD drive, you have already opened the unit if you wait is at the level to do so.

If the RTC cmos clear won't help, report back and we will help you make bios flash BACK.

    Hello

My laptop don't boot: the Toshiba logo does not appear when I start my laptop (Satellite L555-10U). I think that there is a Troubé with the motherboard and I read on the internet I have to do a CMOS clear, but I don't know where the CMOS jumper is located? You have any ideas?

  • S30 stuck with the code "36".

    Hello

I've got a S30 (0568) that no longer starts. It starts, presents some codes when displaying the motherboard and stops with code 36 on this view, no output on the monitor and fans running at high speeds.

I couldn't find information about start to date codes. Any suggestions for what I could try to fix this?

I've tried the CMOS clear jumper, without success (the system is stuck with code 36 for two jumper positions).

    Thank you!

  • Pavilion TouchSmart 23-f364: Hp Pavilion 23-f364 BIOS "finds it difficult to" hard drive Detection

I have a HP Pavilion TouchSmart f364 23 for Christmas in 2013 and in 2014, the hard drive has begun to act. I would like to turn on the computer and it does not detect the drive or does not see the files it contains. The CD drive is detected and works all the time. I've updated the BIOS, I replaced the drive with a brand new, and since the old is in an external hard drive enclosure works like new money. The computer will always have problems in windows being blockages, then crashes. I looked for the reasons of the accident and they were due to mistakes of disk access. After reboot, the drive is not detected. In Ubuntu, the drive is detected and accessible (but I can't get the windows partition to mount, with the error "Windows is put in hibernation," even with the quick start off and a full stop). The point is that Ubuntu can see and access the drive to boot from the drive itself (if possible) and a live USB. Ubuntu will crash as or experience access errors, but when restart the BIOS sees not the disc. The disc turn and accesses a little bit, but nothing happens. In addition to the exchange of discs, I also swapped sata ports on the mobo with no luck, and power connectors are different, so no swap it. I want to know now if replace HARD drive cable may solve the problem or if I need to replace the mobo or this computer is just cursed. (Father: when I asked for a desktop I do not mean all in one)

TL; DR: The Bios does not detect hard drive or detect but once at random, at random, windows crashes because of this, Ubuntu works perfectly well and has access to disk drive and boot Live, bios does not always detect drive. Tried upgrading BIOS, replacement drive and swapping mobo ports sata, no luck, CD player works great every time. You want to know if buying a new HARD drive cable works or if it is the mobo which is bad.

Also note: when I updated the BIOS it says it resets the CMOS and I repeatedly loaded by default in the BIOS settings. I have found but not yet tried the CMOS clear jumper.

Welcome to the HP Forums! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

Thank you for posting. I read your post and I understand that the old hard drive can operate as an external drive, but the new drive and the old disk cannot be detected in the BIOS. You can run hardware diagnostics to test the motherboard and hard drive. If the motherboard and the hard disc as well spent, you can consider if it is a cable problem.

    Hello

Try to clear the CMOS or pulling on the battery settings. Shut your PC down, pull the AC power cord and remove the Panel from the turn right to access internal components.

Please see here for the location of the battery on the motherboard and the CMOS clearing instructions (riders). HP reverse the motherboard during the installation of the tower.

  • Pavilion dv7-7071sf: USB port does not

    Hello!

First of all, I apologize for my poor English, hope that you carry a grudge on me on this subject.

I accidentally deleted the bios battery connector yesterday while I was remove my computer (cleaning with dry of butane air blower and replace thermal paste), so the bios reset...

After that, the USB ports on the right were not functioning more, IE. they always provide the power for any USB device that them are attached (tried with fan, external hard drive and mouse), but does nothing else (mouse not working not, disk appears not, no sound windows indicating a device has been connected...).

Here is a list of the things that I tried to fix it:

    • Disassembled my computer again to check if I have everything connected correctly
    • Removed the battery and the cable and held the power button for more than 1 minute and a half
    • Update the drivers (Intel Download Center expandable 3 USB host controller driver)
    • Removal of windows drivers to install its generic those
    • Restore my computer at the time when I had everything working well.

None of these manipulations worked, and the right usb ports (two usb 3.0) were still not functioning while those on the left (usb 2.0 and usb 3.0) were.

I assumed it was a matter of windows, so I tried to format my hard drive, using the tool of recovery (F11).

As for now, complete recovery, windows is installed, but all ports (left and right) are no longer.

They still offer a power of my devices, but won't fire any action of windows.

I'm in the show right now the updates of windows, but I don't really expect a lot from him.

How can that being said, I solve this problem?

I would appreciate your help on this,

    Thanks in advance.

  • H8 - 1520T BIOS does not (disabled video card)

    Hello

I recently bought a video card, here's what happened after:

    1. I disable secure boot in order to leave work.

    2. auto off of oboard integrated video card BIOS.

    3. I accidentally turn on start secure;

Now, an external video card does not work due to the video card and secure start is disabled. I can't see anything on the screen.

PS: I have a treasure of a powerful area of HP, but I lost the key for her...

    Hello

It seems that the CMOS clear has failed the BIOS to values by default if your description of the problem is correct.

    1. Unplug the PC
    2. Remove the CMOS battery
    3. Move the CMOS jumper to the clear position.
    4. Wait 30 minutes. On some old PC sometimes had to wait until the day the.
    5. Put back the CMOS jumper to its normal position.

  • Pavilion p7-1040nl: the BIOS update gone wrong; PC does not start.

Hi, I tried to update my BIOS yesterday, but in the middle of doing so, there was a short cut (what are the chances right?). If the update is not good. And now my pc won't start at all. At the beginning until you get 8 beeps, the hard drive of fans, etc. seem to start, but there is NO video signal and the pc does not continue to start. So I can't even in the BIOS menu, because the monitor remains in sleepmode.
I tried all the fixes I have found here and on other sites without success. Do you have the cmos pass the thing, disconnected all the pieces one by one, tried to boot with the USB with the BIOS on this subject, but still nothing.
Does anyone know what anyone else I can try? Or should I accept that my pc is over?

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

Have you tried clearing the COMS as in the instaructions on the document next to the motherboard web?

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02668523

I recommend to remove the CMOS battery while the cmos clear. Hold the power button for five seconds while the rider is on the position unequivocally @.

If it does not, then it's time for a new source desktop PC.
