T60p - WAN possible?

Hi all!

I look forward to a T60p UXGA Flexview equipped (mainly for purposes of novelty, since I am doing my work on a W500). After all the comments and the legendary comments about this model, I just couldn't pass up.

My question is, is it possible to affix a WAN module on the T60 Series? Basically, I would like to be able to get online with my 3G connection without the attachment of my phone, or make a dongle.

I also put my old Intel Gen 1 SSD in this laptop and see how fast it runs Win7, but that's a story for another day. Thanks in advance!

Some of the T60/p units were shipped with a WWAN factory, and they mark to 'inflate' rectangular on the outside of the cover on the RIGHT side.

The card was a Sierra 5750 (I think - not sure), who has worked with Verizon wireless in the United States only no idea on what carriers were chosen in other parts of the world.

You need to run your own thread and install the map in the second mini PCI-e slot unless your unit is one of those who came pre-wired as described above. You would be also a BIOS error if you were to install a map non-dans the whitelist.

Personally, I use a USB dongle and don't find it annoying, but to each his own.

  • LRT214 - routing of DMZ

    Hello

for some reason I can't connect from the DMZ network to the internet.

    Installation program:

    Internal network: 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

    DMZ: 192.168.100.0/255.255.255.0

WAN: connected to the cable-modem (DHCP)

    Even with the firewall disabled.

So, for me, it seems that the unit is not "Routing" of the demilitarized zone.

At the moment I activated the firewall again and added two rules to give them access DMZ:

1 REFUSE all traffic to DMZ (any) to 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.0.255 (to deny access to the local network to DMZ)

2 ALLOW all traffic to DMZ (any) to EVERYTHING (in order to select "WAN" here, would be great!)

I had this problem before in the local network.

But I could solve this problem when I switched the "operating mode" 'router' for 'bridge '.

[Just a little note: after Linkysys support told me that the device if default!]

BTW... so far, I found no clue about the difference between these two modes.

Thanks a lot for your support

Who was I had the suspicion on the VLan to.

But I think that it is not completely right... you have a DMZ with a privat-ip-area, but these DMZ servers do not have access to internet (NAT number of DMZ in WAN) possible.

To be honest, I find the DMZ - of the implementation of the very strange LRT214.

No one expects such an implementation! And IMHO, this does not meet the definition of DMZ (see wikipedia).

  • E4200: Possible to share USB SMB to WAN?

I realize that the E4200 User Guide says for remote access you should / must use FTP, but I would that my actions of Windows (SMB/CIFS) are available for the outside world. I tried a few combinations different configuration of redirection of port and other things on my DSL router and the E4200 himself, without success so far with (obviously, that's why this post!).

The only thing that has been a success so far uses another device on the local network to mount and then re - share, with port forwarding pointing to this device instead of the E4200. I'm glad that it works, but I would like to remove this device from the equation if possible.

Does anyone know a way to expose the Windows from an E4200 shares towards the outside world? Thank you!

I checked ports and such with my SMB mount/re-share original installation using another device on the network. I am convinced that it is simply very difficult if not impossible to convince this router to accept SMB of WAN connections.

My solution was to install TomatoUSB and rsync, as at the end of the day, my goal was to be able to mirror on the USB drive attached on the side WAN. I didn't try to do it via FTP; It turns out that rsync is probably better that mount a remote SMB sharing and synchronization to that. I hope this helps someone else later!

  • is possible to configure the wan on Dell N3024 switch port

    Hello

as I said in the topic. I got a new switch N3024 of Dell.  I worked in before cisco, but dell is new to me. I have a few question to ask: -.

is that we can configure wan on that port?

is - this switch supports the aggregation of the ISL?

If Yes please share the switch manual

    Thanks in advance

The WAN connection is made usually by creating a VLAN and assignment of an IP address in the same subnet as the device that it connects this VLAN.

    Example:

    Create VLAN 10

    database of # vlan

    VLAN # 10

For example let's say that 1/0/1 interface connects your firewall, which has an IP 10.10.10.1 30 assigned to its interface. This means that we would assign 10.10.10.2 30 to VLAN 10.

    # interface vlan 10

    # 10.10.10.2/30 ip address

Then place the interface 1/0/1 in access mode for VLAN 10.

    # interface gigabitethernet 0/1/1

    switchport mode access #.

    # switchport access vlan 10

Enable the VLAN routing on the switch.

    # ip Routing

Define a static route pointing out traffic at the firewall.

    # ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.1

Orders of trunking VLAN are very similar to the Cisco commands.

    # interface gigabitethernet 0/1/1

    switchport mode trunk #.

    # permit switchport trunk VLANs 1-1024

  • multi home VPN is possible on different WAN/IP

We have three sonicwall tz210 Site A is used when a server is hosted, site b and C to connect to the site through VPN through a static ip address. We would like to add a second provider of access to the main site (at least) for a failover. Second ISP will have obviously completely different IP "address, and of course the VPN will never find the tunnel due to the new ip address.

Is it possible to configure where if site B and C don't see Site A, it will jump over to the second IP address and use that for the VPN tunnel?

As long as you do not use "tunnel interface" mode and then tap the VPN configuration page, it takes an option to put in a secondary gateway.

If the tunnel is unable to build the bridge main will failover and try to build to the secondary gateway.

  • See 4.5 - is possible PCoIP of WAN?

I've been digging around, but I have not found a conclusive answer.  Please forgive me if it has actually been answered somewhere else.

In my setup, View Client sits on my Windows 7 home, and the display manager is located at my friend's House. The two houses are connected to the Internet via ADSL. HTTPS port is open instead of my friend and port-forward to the view manager. In this case, is possible PCoIP? I heard that it is only possible with VPN, but I tried with OpenVPN and PCoIP still does not work.

    Customer 192.168.0.10 <-> Broadband Router <-INET-> Broadband Router <-> View Manager 192.168.0.20

We had great success with PCoIP with material Cisco ASA and the CiscoVPN client access. Simply open the ports as per suggested and it should work. If not check your logs on your firewall and see what stop.

    EDIT

Of course, our facility is run off of a company. I don't know if you have the option to have the configuration mentioned above, but I just wanted to direct because it works through VPN :).

  • What does this mean and how to fix: the router address you entered is not compatible with your WAN IP address.

I connect to an access provider via Airport Extreme, which is extended through two Airport Express.  When I try to edit anything in one of these devices, even a name, I get this message: "you have entered the address of the router is not compatible with your WAN IP address.  My connection seems to work, but there is clearly something wrong with her.  The Express has no DNS and will not update without the same message.  I have no idea what this is all about and will greatly appreciate the ideas.

This means that WAN Setup does not or does not install across the network.

The best way to solve this problem is beginning on...

Reset all three at the factory and reconfigure each in turn. Do the extreme first and make sure it works... Then add the express.

If you need help with that we will need to know which modem or modem router to your ISP gave you and possibly the type of services to wide band... and who is the provider.

Give us screenshots of each installer as you do.

  • Utm9s double vpn double wan

    Hello world

is my first time that I'm dealing with a firewall, netgear, anda sicerely I'm having a problem with a configuration.

I have 2 utm9s and was asked to me to configure mode vpn dual wan dua.

Let me be more specific, we have 2 site with each of them with 2 connection to public broadband and ip.

the goal is to make 2 tunnel vpn failover via the wan connection separated 2,.

the problem is, when I set up the wizard, it says that the configuration is invalid.

on the manual that I have seen that it is technically possible, but I don't know how...

    Thank you all

    Hello

As far as I know, setting up two VPN IPSec connections between the same two routers is not the way forward.

It will not work because the VPN policies will come into conflict with each other ('the destination subnet foo has to go through the VPN bar' rule must be unique).

To set this up correctly, you must use the substitution inside politics VPN, on both sides. And because you can define only a single IP address as remote endpoint, you must use a FULL domain name.

The reversal option determines what use of WAN interface as outgoing and remote as endpoint FULL domain name determines which remote IP address is used for communication.

  • R7000 WAN Port does not use LAN as a substitute?

I have a problem with my R7000. The WAN port is dead. I used it in access point mode for some time connected to one of my LAN ports, but I need to go back to a main router. Is it possible to run it in router mode outside of a LAN port, or I'm out of options and need to replace the router? Past the WAN port, everything works fine. Thank you!

Ive never used Merlin, but I think you need to activate the dual WAN mode and just use the secondary interface for your main WAN while leaving the other disconnected.

  • Time Capsule visitor files a network (associated with possible network connectivity)

I have one Capsule of 3 TB I bought in early 2015.  I had a very frustrating problem from the beginning with her down my network, apparently at random.  I tried a lot of different things, and nothing worked, so I post to see if anyone else can help.

The TC is plugged directly into my UVerse router/gateway via ethernet and I put the TC to have a static IP address.  The Uverse router firewall has a rule for the TC and TC shows how a router cascade in the rou UVerse.  I have wireless 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz when put in place on the TC.  I have a Mac Mini connected directly to it via ethernet, but it's a recent thing (maybe I was hoping that it would help).  I have also a PC attached to it for internet access only windows.  I have two Macs backup via Time Machine, well I tried to disable backups on one to see if that has had an effect (it didn't).  In fact, I have a whole list of notes on things I tried in the last two months, since I started to really tackle this problem seriously.  In particular, I've tried steps 1 to 5 in this link: Time Capsule constantly default to be recognized by Airport utility if I have not tried a factory reset.  I'm running the latest versions of OS X and iOS.

The basic model is that I have the TC set up and work.  The wireless works fine.  Time Machine will back to it fine.  I can see the TC in the Finder.  I can open the AirPort on a Mac and iOS utility and it is 'green '.  All right.  Then, at a random time in the next few days (the longest one since I started to take notes is 7 days), the TC will drop from the network.  The without wire will be there and still works fine, but Time Machine will not be able to find it for backups, it will not be displayed in the Finder.  AirPort (iOS or Mac) utility shows a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and says that the device is no longer part of my network.  I have to unplug the TC and plug it back again so that he can return to the top.  As soon as I did that, everything will return to normal and be fine for a few days, and then he disappeared again.

Tonight, however, I connected to another event.  I was watching something on my AppleTV when he started the buffering.  I grabbed my iPhone to see if my internet has declined.  More or less on a whim, I checked the airport utility and noticed that the TC showed a green dot but 'Internet' showed an orange dot.  A minute or two later, the AppleTV started playing video again, so I checked again airport utility and this 'Internet' time, has a green dot and the TC showed the usual brand yellow triangle / exclamation indicating it was abandoned.  I noted the time and then went back to look at what I had looked at.  About two hours later, I went to the power of the TC cycle and understand what to try next.

The AppleTV is not connected to the CT.  It connects to the UVerse bridge (it is connected to the ethernet on the back of one of the set-top boxes UVerse).  This means that the loss of the internet was for everything in the House, not only the TC.  Something about the process seems to have caused the TC to drop from the network somehow, but everything remains recovered him very well.  Looking the UVerse bridge, it seems rebooting once since then (about an hour and a half after the TC dropped) but not by anyone in the House (I don't know if perhaps AT & T pushed something in the modem or if it is defective).

So, no idea why loss of connectivity would cause the TC had to give up in the network?  Of course, it also appears, I may have a problem with the gateway Uverse, but if the TC goes down when everything is ok, it suggests a problem here as well.

Since you seem to have picked up some things from my post...

We will continue the process... This is where life becomes difficult. It is not uncommon to what you feel.

Just to get the full picture.

The TC is plugged directly into my UVerse router/gateway via ethernet and I put the TC to have a static IP address.

I would prefer you to the TC using the bridge... using standard DHCP... (you can leave the Uverse for him apply a DHCP reservation).

Once you do that... move the cable that connects the TC to the WAN Uverse on TC to the LAN port... It is fine in bridge...

If it always falls I have a more serious way to do. It is much more complicated, however, because apple has removed all controls on sensitive router. But I think you will find that the WAN port is dubious on the TC. It can appear at different times and with different modems/routers...

Alternatively, you can take the TC to Apple and have them replaced... It took me three goes to get a decent one. And I'm not even sure that the fault will not be displayed again in the near future out of warranty.

But it could appear perfectly when Apple test it... and the replacement can be just as bad... in other words it is a deeper problem that Apple realize.

    Another thing tricky, I discovered.

Airport routers stick to the local domain... even packed... they do not Pick-up area of the main router.

This means that some devices will lose the connection because they are on the wrong field. It is possible to change the field on the Uverse make local as well... Since apple has not all the controls of the airport. I did some time ago on my main router and I can hardly give you direct evidence that helps... as many adjustments it is one of the many small things that are in addition to the lack of reliability that can help if you get the other 20 on the right. I think it helped...!

From there on, we need to work a little more on maybe the ethernet connection... or the LAN port 100 Mbps gigabit Uverse? I think I'd rather see you adjust the speed of 100Mbps as long as your internet speed is less than that of course for gigabit.

Give me some screenshots of the configuration... It is also useful.

  • T60p, T60 card wireless turns off by itself

Hello, any help will be greatly appreciated. I have a T60 and T60p, which have exactly the same problem. When connected wireless after 20-30 minutes the wireless adapter turns off itself. I loaded the drivers updated. I don't use dial-up connections, Windows XP manages the wireless profiles. I made sure that the computer is not stop the wireless card to save energy. I do not supply manager, but I installed the driver of power manager. The map stops and the wireless light turns off but windows will still say that I am connected through wireless. I hit FN + F5 and card status is disabled but I don't have the possibility to change it to on. It will not allow to do me anything. Also, when I close the lid it won't have to stand by mode. I have to do a full reboot to get the wireless operational return. Any help please, it's really annoying. Two laptops using the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG card.

    Thank you!!

In your definition also change to low power and output maximum roaming aggressiveness.

I wan't to be able to get the raw data from the camera and analyze it.

I found a simple soloution to this problem,

Is possible to use a web browsers invoke node basically give a screenshot of the web page (get image)

It can then be loaded into a display of the image and will show exactly what the web browser is showing and can also be analised by unflattening the pixmap.

Maybe it's not the most effective method, but he turns my rig fast enough and does the job

It may also be a setting value of the display of the photo to "smooth updates" that gets rid flashes white as the changes to the image, if anyone else has this problem.

  • EA6500 manually select the speed and duplex to WAN port

Is it possible (settings hidden?) to manually set speed or duplex in port WAN EA6500? I use EA6500 with Genexis HRG1044 (FTTH) and the latter has known issues with the download speed when local is connected to gigabit. It seems that the EA6500 and the HRG1044 Genexis do support auto-negotiation and who always results in gigabit which translates the poor in upload on the internet. Switch from 100 Mbps between EA6500 and Genexis HRG1044 does the trick, but I was wondering if it can be done without it. BTW, my internet speed is only 100 / 100 Mbit/s in any case.

You can't adjust the WAN speed on the EA6500 with the Linksys firmware. The only solution is to put a switch 10/100 between the modem and the router.

  • BEFSR81 v1 WAN speed

Hi all, I just have to move to a 10 Mbps aDSL connection. I measured the bandwidth of download as about 5 Mbps with the router in the circuit. Without the router (i.e. directly connect the modem ZyXEL 660R to host) and the modem mode bridge or router, I am able to get the full 10 Mbps. I updated the firmware on the router to 2.45.10 and changed the host system RWIN to the value calculated from "optimal" and the MTU to be equal, 1500, on the router & host. One of these values does not affect bandwidth significantly - less popular ACK with superior RWIN, as expected, but no real change in speed. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA, Art

N (new): the specification of 10 Mbps in the data sheet only shows you what technical specification follows the port on the router. It is a 10 Mbps port. It works with any other 10 Mbps devices and devices that are backward compatible with 10 Mbps. As FastEthernet or Gigabit Ethernet are backwards compatible you can connect to it even but of course only based on the specification of 10 Mbps.

The technical specification defines how the port and Cap like looks, wiring of pins etc.. The technical specification says nothing about the speed of the unit using this port is.

If you buy a computer today data sheet will tell 'Gigabit Ethernet Port' or '1000 Mbps Ethernet Port' or maybe ' 10/100/1000 Ethernet Port. It is once again the technical specification of this ethernet port. It is compatible with Gigabit Ethernet devices. It is not that the device is able to provide data of 1000 Mbps or receive it.

The same is true for your BEFSR81. The data sheet BEF does not say it is able to provide 10 Mbps routing performance. The data sheet only tells you that the WAN port is a port of Mbit/s Ethernet standard 10. That's all. It is the same as for any other computer spreadsheet data, peripheral NAS, or similar.

With regard to the switches: you no longer need uplink ports. Basically, all devices are auto-negotiation and they automatically detect what device it is connected, and which cable (crossover or straight) you use. If you buy a switch gigabit today he will most definitely have all ports to auto-negotiation on that and you can connect to another device that you like. You can also connect to your BEF by using port uplink or one of its other ports. The port allows to detect what you have...

I recommend you to get a gigabit or may even switch 2 If you need more ports. Switches with more ports are generally more expensive, then using 2 small switches. Of course, it depends a little on your LAN configuration. You don't want your main stream crossing 2 switches. But, for example, if you have a few devices in the living room and even more in the Home Office, it can be a good idea to use a switch in the living room and the other in the Home Office. All streaming etc. would remain in life and not hit the switch in the Office at home. If, however, much since stream you life Home Office one switch could be better.

With regard to the switches, once again, a word of warning. If a switch has 8 full-duplex 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports that it does not say you can connect 8 devices full gigabit speed give and receive at the same time (i.e. full duplex) 1000 Mbps. The switch must receive 8000 Mbps and send 8000 Mbps at the same time. Very often, you will find data sheets do not mention the possible real rate of a switch. More expensive switches usually refer to the flow of the "basket" or something similar. If a switch 8 ports would say he is able to manage 16000 Mbps on the backplane, then you would get full flow possible. But if anything like this mentioned that it is quite possible that it handles than less. You may be able to get transmissions complete gigabit on some ports but may never all at the same time, for example if backplane is only able to handle 4000 Mbit/s. The data sheet tells you that the technical specification of the integrated equipment, but not how fast he is...

Thus, I'd get the standard gigabit for your local network and a router switches more fast which is capable of managing your internet connection. In view of the increase in the speed of the internet in the future I expect to get a new router in 2-3 years. For the moment, the most important thing would be that it should be able to handle the speed of 100 Mbps WAN. This should work for 2-3 years...

One place to find the actual flow of routers is smallnetbuilder. Unfortunately, they have not all models of router it...
