Tecra M1 - slow system

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but the search did not return useful clues.

In any case, my tecra M1 (1.6 GHz, 1 GB, XPpro sp2) has really bad slow moments. You can see things like windows vibrations when you drag them on the screen, the programs are not as sensitive as it should be for the specifications of the system (I used to have an Athlon 1.2Ghz and pc133 and he ran faster).

I don't expect to be able to run doom3 on the machine, or perform complex processing tasks, but the apparent speed starts to irritate me. There are currently 50 processes running in the background at the moment, and I am only running thunderbird and firefox, it is 48 process which may or may not be necessary and to contribute to the speed.

Someone at - it recommendations for speeding up the system?

See you soon

Hi Jim,.

Have you recently checked for any viruses and spyware? If you have not already done so I would recommend this as a first action plan. I would also say well SpyBot and Adaware (both freeware).

Secondly the 50 processes you have running is not particularly excessive, but I would check to make sure that you don't have anything running that would cause your laptop to periodically use excessive CPU. (Some applications such as WMP and REALPLAYER will put in place the processes that regularly question the internet).

Finally, I you recommend to run the disk cleanup utility to get rid of temporary files on your hard drive and then run Disk Defragmenter.

    I have a problem with my Tecra S5 (PTS53E).

  • Tecra M9 - slow start (1-3 minutes)

    Hello

My Tecra M9 startup is very slow: between 1-3 minutes. Is this normal?
Can I do to reduce this time (which can remove in msconfig/startup...)?

    Thank you.
    Nicolas

    > For the items in msconfig - startup, I kinda scared to delete something I shouldn't.
In MSCONFIG you simply deactivate some processes background, but you would not remove it! So if you need some process, even once, then you could afford it in msconfig.

My problem is that when the WiFi and USB to Etherenet is active the internet and the connection to the web server works but vey slow.
If I turn off the WiFi and connect to the web server works properly.
If I disable USB for Ethernet internet connection works correctly.

    Hello!

It looks like a network configuration problem. Check the network addresses and configuration in command line with the command ipconfig/all.

Try using static IP addresses. I think that the DHCP server takes a long time to go send an IP address to each laptop.

  • Satellite L750: HDD LED lit almost always - very slow system

    Hello!
    I have a TOSHIBA * L750 - 13 L * laptop with part #: * PSK30E-00R00EG4 *.
The system was fast, but then one day suddenly it got very very slow. White led disk light remained on and opening the usual document (or even the jpg photo) obtained extremely slow.

When I start windows 7 (64-bit), it works fine for a minute or two and then the hard drive lights all the time (with a minor stops). Opening documents at this point is pretty darn slow.

I have discovered that when in safe mode (with or without networking), it works fine but when I run a normal mode, it is very slow. When I learned that I just did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on c: (format and install). Other two partitions d: and e: remained intact. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. When I installed all the drivers of light light HARD drive again and all went to "mode"snail".

I installed avg, amr player 7zip, chrome and image resizer for windows, and all drivers needed in a correct order...

What is a problem? He worked for six months without problem - I have not installed anything new... How to solve this problem? Why didn't - it's not a problem that appears in safe mode?

Unfortunately, on this virtual path is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis but I assume that there is a problem with the HARD drive (bad sectors on HARD drive specific position).

If the same problem occurs with own preinstalled OS, I presume the troublemaker is HDD. If you have the second disk HARD try to exchange it, reinstall the recovery image and test the features.

If the warranty is still valid, I recommend that you contact the nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the problem and ask for help.

  • After update 10.11.2 to 10.11.3 Programms folder is emptymand very slow system

    Hello

I'm upgrading to OS X 10.11.2 10.11.3 yesterday. After the update my record programs was empty-no programs were there.

The saw that all my files as downloads were empty, too. I opened the time Mashine to try a restore. It was awful slow. I went one day back in time and view the files to download in the time machine backup. Try to restore, Time Mashine just asked me to crush them. So, it seems that they are always there in reality but invisibl in the Finder. After leaving Time Mashine, the downloads folder was full of all the files downloaded again.

Then, I tried to do the same with the programs folder. But viewing the programs folder has been extremely slow in Time Machine. It took ok minutes just to show the contents of the folder in Time Machine. A restore then failed because because the Tome Mashine replied that it is a folder OS X requires...

FOrmme looks like the update has destroyed many. Is it possible for a roll regular return or is a fix for this kind of problem? This is not a working OS. Time Machine does not work properly, I don't know if my 500 GB iTunes library always works as iTunes went away, too... good work, Apple...

    Thank you

    Hello

I understand your situation, that the OS X update doesn't delete anything, he was just hiding any content from your mac. To put things to normal, since it is a systemic problem, I suggest your reinstall the OS (it will NOT delete your files):

How to reinstall OS X on your Mac - Apple Support

    1. Turn on your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the command and R on your keyboard.
    3. Release the buttons after the appearance of the Apple logo.
    4. If you are prompted, select a Wi - Fi network, or connect your Mac to the Internet via an Ethernet cable.
    5. After that the recovery menu will appear, select the option to install OS X.
    6. Follow the prompts on the screen to select your destination drive and install OS X.

  • Tecra M2: sound system stops working after a while

    Hello

I used my TECRA M2 a year without serious problems. A moth started it my problems with audio - after the start (no matter if via boot or wake up from hibernation) his (speakers) system is functioning normally. After a while (several tens of minutes, hours) sound system stops working (no sound from your speakers or headphones). No errors appear, but not sound. When you try to adjust the volume via the Windows icon on the bar the task CPU usage becomes very high.

I decided to reinstall my M2 - the first attempt was clean install of WinXP SP2 standard support - sound problem has not changed. Today I decided to restore the system recovery CD, but the result is the same :-(

Any idea? -I suppose that problem Council... Now, I made a mistake when entering - beeps system (such a beep as during startup) - interesting :-/

Except sound problem - another strange thing - when I send my XP to restart in about 10% of the attempts he goes off and does not start. Starts normally after pressing power button...

Any ideas would be much appreciated

  • Why Java makes my slower system?

A few weeks ago I was looking on Google images, and after a left click to display, I was taken on its Web site. When I tried to save the image, I was prompted to download Java. This confuses me because I assumed that it had already been installed - but no, so I downloaded it no problem. Java has changed the way some of my usual pages respond or display - some I like better... some not. The biggest difference has been the decrease in overall response time if I am offline or online. I went from having almost instant responses to a left click (whatever) to wait 10 seconds or more (usually more) for a new online page or tab to open... time sometimes. Even offline, open the folders and files used to flash immediately, but now, some take a few seconds sometimes - as they are "stuttering".

Everything I do is filtered on Java, somehow, slowing down the system?

Certainly, it won't hurt to try JavaRa, but I suspect it happens something else that Java doesn't have normally this effect on performance (even if a Java exploit would give...).

I think the chances are that your problem is more over-zealous antivirus program or malicious software.
In any case, try JavaRa and reboot and let us know how things are and we'll take it from there.
Finally, this behavior occurs in several browsers? (What browser and version do run normally?)

What is your version of the database and operating system?

    What is slow? Forms/reports/DB/Apache... etc?

    Did you recently change?

You can find errors in the database log file?

Have you tried to bounce the services (if possible) and see if that helps? You can stop the CM at least for the time being and monitor performance.

  • Accompanied by slow system blank taskbar icons

    Hi people.

We have a XPS that knows the slow to the point where the system seems to be frozen (after a minute or two, it will recover semi).  A symptom that may give a clue is missing from the taskbar icons (just a little).  And then, when the rest appear finally sometimes they are white white Windows document icon.

    Any ideas?

I can't tell if it's an imminent failure or a Windows thing.  I've got msconfig had and disabled some startup stuff.  I am currently in safe mode by writing this.

Thx for the feedback people - looks like it's a secondary hard drive dying slowly.

I guess the error as well as symptoms expire "semaphore" is pretty good evidence of this.

And this leads to the following question (best practices for the dead of the road cleaning):
