I am running Vista Home Premium and have been using the backup and Restore Center for weekly scheduled backups. I noticed that I get messages when I log on saying that Microsoft Windows backup has stopped working. However, the incremental backups always to be at the agreed time. I have just deleted a backup set and went to start a new backup set, and now I get the same message:

Backup Microsoft Windows has stopped working, then he's looking for a solution that does not, and then told me "a problem caused blocking the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. "I have to click on the button - close the program. She did this whenever I try to start a new backup set and I #m using an external USB hard drive that has plenty of space for what I want to do.

Any ideas - can't seem to find the answer that way.

    Thank you

    Hi Bretty1,

I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below:

    2. when the Services window loads, go to "backup windows", double click on it to open it.

3 make sure that the "Startup Type" says "automatic"and has begun.» If it isn't, use the drop down menu to change.

    4. If he once said: "Automatic", then click on the "Recovery" tab in the upper part and replace the line "First failure" "Restart the Service", then click on ""apply ', then OK. "

Step 2: To start a new backup with elevated privileges, follow these steps:

    (a) click Start in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.

    (b) at the command prompt, type sdclt /kickoffnew and then press ENTER.

You use an incremental update strategy of backup.  This attempts to update the full backup on the disk.  The error here is that the data UNDOTBS1 file is NOT in the database backup on the disk (in the FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA).  Bottom line: all your backups are useless without this data file in the backup.

See gradually "update backup" to http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/rcmbckba.htm#CHDEHBFF

  • ASR backup on laptop Satellite series

Since the machine has no internal floppy drive, I used a USB FDD to ASR backup. The main backup is located on a USB HDD and the recovery disc has been created in the USB FDD.

When you try to use the ASR utility to restore the system to a new HARD disk, it fails with the message "Could not find a floppy drive on the system" even though the player is clearly the machine starts. There are many references to this issue on the Microsoft support, but none of them specific enough to help.

Toshiba have a solution or is it impossible to use the ASR backup on the series of satellites which have no internal floppy drive?

    Hello

usually the reader must be recognized as a normal floppy drive, but I Don t know how the backup utility handles this thing.

Can you please post the links to microsoft articles? Maybe I can try to find a solution.
By chance, a small question: have you tried to put the data on a USB stick and start him? It might be an idea to make an image of the disc on another computer, and put it on a USB key.
    Maybe it works?

Keep me informed of your success.

  • I purchasedUnable to create the ASR recovery diskette after backup

I bought an external hard drive to use as a backup of the system. The backup was successful, but in the end, I couldn't create the ASR restore disk. Is it possible to create one now?

    Hello

You must have the floppy drive to create (ASR, Automated System Recovery).

at the end of the recording, I got this message: discovery of the ASR diskette has not been created. You will not be able to restore an ASR backup without the system information stored on this disk. What does that mean? Should I save my data otherwise? I don't have a floppy drive (I'm surprised if someone does) but I have a dvd read/write cd drive... One last thing. When I looked at the content on the flash drive with program de-Frag it was lit, which means completely fragmented, the program recommended it de-fragment it... is this safe with a file of this size on a flash drive?

Original title: Saving went well, but

Windows XP is too old to do something other than a floppy drive.  If the automated system recovery disk is important to your backup and restore needs (HINT: YES it IS!) then get a USB floppy drive to create the ASR disk.  Or get a copy of most modern backup and restore program that works under XP and use modern media (USB, CD/DVD, keys etc.) to create a startup/recovery media.

  • Backup put the ASR files on diskette, that it keeps giving an error message - other programs write to a disc, no problem

I backup weekly on an external hard drive using tools-backup of system accessories.  I use the ASR feature for 2 years.  Today, he wouldn't write the ASR files on the diskette in the drive.  I checked the disk and other programs writing to her, but not the backup utility.  Without the ASR files, the backup is useless.  Does anyone know if this could be fixed by the re - install Windows XP Pro?

  • cold backup can use archivelog to recover the database to the point of failure?

    Hello

I have little doubts. In any DB saying we have following conditions:

    (1) DB is running in ARCHIVELOG mode.
    (2) cold backup is performed every Sunday.
    (3) no backups hot or the RMAN backup is taken.

so if any failure occurs during the week say Friday. can recover us our database to the point of failure with cold backup? If yes then pls specify the steps how to do it.

Archiving log could apply on cold backup?

    Thank you
    Shailesh

Yes. Just make sure that you use "with the HELP of BACKUP CONTROLFILE' so that Oracle ignores the sequence numbers and the SNA in the controlfile and guard"rolling-forward"until the last archivelog that provide you.
If you have not lost all over again the logs files and want a complete recovery, you must provide log redo file names "as if they have been archived" after applying the last archivelog. This way, you will be able to achieve a complete recovery.
Of course, you will need to OPEN RESETLOGS.

  • Impossible to restore the Thunderbird backup, delzip179 is not a valid win32 application

Original title: Mr. Fix It Will correct dll file errors

Recently I replaced the drive HARD internal on a HP Media Edition due to the failure and had backed up all my data, but also a backup of my e-mail account in mozilla TB on an external HARD drive.  After installing a new HARD drive and reinstall all hardware, software and update windows XP SP 3, IE8 et.NET Framework 4, I rebooted everything except the moz backup. TB. Would not load as I couldn't open the DelZip 179 .dll file that was created on the Mozilla site as favorite to save.  I can't open it with Mozilla TB which is my default email client and is listed in my program files.  I have another computer running XP SP 3, IE8 on which I was able to open the same external HARD drive backup file it opened with Mozilla TB on request what to open it with. so, I know that the file is not damaged.  What am I missing I will allow me to open this file.  I quickly get "delzip179 is not a valid win32 application" when you try to open with Mozilla TB in the newly repaired unit.

    Hello

    ·         Have you tried to reinstall the application?

If you move from one operating system to another then you must manually move your profile from one computer to the other.

I use Windows 7 Pro backup each week to a separate hard drive. I needed to use the backup today. After using action Center says now that my last backup failed. It is still listed in the backup and it worked, then why is it listed as failed now?

    Hello

It seems by the above you have a completely out of the box on Windows installation? It puts your archivelogs in the ORACLE_HOME, probably not a good idea. Ideally on a separate file system.

Have a control of the same place, looks like someone may have deleted the log file and advised against Oracle, oracle to think it is there, but is not.

Check your log_archive_dest and your db_recovery_file_dest settings see where will the archivelogs.

Also run an overlap for the archivelog (C:\APP\ADMINISTRATOR\PRODUCT\11.2.0\ARCH\) to say Oracle, what are the archivelogs and what archivelogs are missing.

    rman target / nocatalog
    crosscheck archivelog all;

If you have the archivelog saved to another location and want to include in the backup, restore, and run:

    rman target / nocatalog
    catalog start with "C:\APP\ADMINISTRATOR\PRODUCT\11.2.0\ARCH"

to save it with the database.

Otherwise, make sure that you run a few journal archiving under tension, and then kick off the full backup & backup archivelog again.

Good read point - RMAN is unimportant for belt and braces work s/n: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/rcmcncpt.htm#BRADV002
