With a corrupt BIOS and the failure of attempts to revive, it may very well be the end of the road for your old laptop. I wish I had better news to give you, but I did not.

It's really good that you posted this question. So far on this forum many people ask the same questions, but all have been at the origin of new machines of Win8.
Now we have the situation with the old machine Win7 but with Win8 preinstalled.

Solution for other people needed to proceed to a complete stop and after doing this, it was possible to enter the BIOS settings. Check it please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm

This situation does not for me so here's a question for you:
When you start your laptop, I guess you can see the Toshiba start screen. With F2 option is shown on the bottom of the screen?

The HARD drive led is not active.
It is also impossible to go into the BIOS settings. The ESC key does not work.
    Everything is black.
I tried to put a boot disk, but nothing happens.

So is - anyone help me?

From my point of view of the defective material, any party may cause the described problem.
Even only one defective memory card could prevent the laptop to boot the system.
Of course, also the dysfunction of the BIOS EPROM module would prevent execution of the power on self test and ultimately, it would mean that laptop may not illuminate correctly.

I think that there is no general solution... parts must be checked; one by one.
In the worst case, there is a motherboard problem and I think that in this case it s not worth to fix the unit because of the high cost of motherboard.

  • Satellite C55 - A - 19(d) - how to enter the BIOS settings?

    Hello

I recently bought a * laptop Satellite A-C55-19 D * with no operating system preinstalled, so I installed Windows 8.1.
My problem is that * I can't get to the BIOS menu *.
I turn on the computer, but I can't see any invitation to "press F2 to enter setup". I get only a screen that has just the + Toshiba Leading Innovation > + notice, then the Windows 8 points of spinning...
I could type or hold F2, F12, ESC, DEL, but nothing is coming. I also tried to press the Fn + F2 key combination.
What I have to enter the BIOS setup?

    Thanks in advance!

Proceed to a complete stop as described here - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
After that restart your laptop, and then press F12. There you should be able to enter the BIOS settings.

    Derek has soon

    Hello Derek

Use the F2 key to enter the BIOS settings and change the order of boot devices. This option is under the STARTUP tab. Otherwise, you can insert the recovery CD when the unit is turned OFF. Turn it on and immediately press the C button. keep it down for a few seconds and unit is forced from the CD/DVD drive.

You may or may not need to change the BIOS settings.  Assuming that you have a bootable CD with this tool, put it in your CD drive and restart the computer.  One of the 3 things will happen:

    1. the computer starts from the CD and you can follow all instructions you have Symantec.

2 watching very carefully that the computer starts.  You may see a message that says something like "press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.  If you see this message, press a key (for example, the space bar) and the computer boots from the CD.

    3. watch very carefully that the computer starts.  You will see a message that says something like, "to change settings, press F1."  The key that you press on will be different depending on your particular computer.  It might be F1 or F10 or del key.  Whatever it is, press this button and you will enter the BIOS configuration utility.  From there, you can change the boot order to CD first.  Directions to navigate the BIOS Setup will be displayed on the screen, but they will involve using the button tab, enter, and arrow keys, because your mouse does not work in this utility.

  • X 1 carbon - cannot unlock the Bios settings

    Hello!

For testing purposes, I set a supervisor password and put a lock on the Bios settings. Since then I can't access the settings because I have never asked the supervisor password. The biometric characteristics are activated. So when I restart and press F1 I get into the bios without beeing asked a password but I can't change the values.

You associate your fingerprints with the supervisor password?  Another option instead of dragging your finger please press ESC and then manually type the password, I hope it will work.

  • EliteBook limited 8460p of the BIOS settings

    Hello

I use a 8460p EliteBook. Now when I try to enter the BIOS settings, the computer asks for the opening of Windows account password or enroll fingerprints. Whatever I do, when the password is accepted and fingerprint recognized, it led me to 'read only' BIOS, only some parameters settings are editable. (see screenshots)

I looked in all the menus in BIOS in order to activate the settings to change, but not glue.

Maybe in the past, I used a kind of HP security software to lock down the BIOS settings.

Please kindly help! I need to change the boot order, I recently joined a HDD caddy, he also start in the cart, not the first SSD.

    Thank you very much!

    Now, I understand why:

When I press F10 to enter the BIOS settings, the system asks me if I want to get into the BIOS as a guest user, I was always move the blue highlight to the button NOT to open a session and after that he always asks me to enter the password / enroll fingerprints for nothing.

This time I chose YES (or hightlight color is reversed), and I can access the complete settings in the BIOS.

    It's really weird.
