The vlan vmotion should join him vlan management for vmotion work?

Host 1

Management network is a vswitch. IP VLAN 350 172.31.250.201

vMotion network is on an another vswitch. VLAN 500 IP 192.168.1.1

Host 2

Management network is a vswitch. IP VLAN 350 172.31.250.202

vMotion network is on an another vswitch. VLAN 500 IP 192.168.1.2

Running Cisco UCS, the vNIC for vmotion are the vlan 500 but vmotion works only when they have access to the vlan 350 the management vlan.

Sorry for the question noob but not vmotion need access to the vlan management in order to work?

Thank you

No, what you're doing - vMotion running in a dedicated subnet - is actually recommended to do this. Ensure that the UCS switch ports are configured correctly, allowing the VLANS required.

You deleted a VLAN system under the tab 'LAN', but there's a vNIC model or a model of the referencing service profile.   We have just now in 2.1 added a "check" to make sure of any VLAN referenced in a model vNIC resolve to one VLAN assets.

Search for and delete the model/policy and it will disappear.

  • The number of machines on which my license for CS6 works

    Hello

I have 1 iMac at home and 2 personal Macbook Pro - the one I use for presentations (and slow and old 17 "I prefer to lug around with me) and the other (a new plus fast 17") that I use to work on when I travel. I bought the CS6 Master Suite Collection & I was wondering my home machines how can I install it on.

    Thank you

    Ryan

You get 2 activation with CS6, so you can install it on any number of machines but you can use it on 2 machines only.

If you want to use the software on 3rd computer you will need to disable it.

With CS6, we came with a friendly alternative where if you have activated on 2 machine already a software and you intend to activate the 3rd machine then you will get the prompt if you want to use the new serial number or turn off all software where you can disable older computers and activate on 3rd machine once completed You can go back to the old machine and do the same to turn the earlier machine and off the third computer.

  • Configure the vlan with SG 300 - 10 p and 520 SA

    Hi all

Forgive my ignorance, but I need help with the basic configuration.

For a small office, I bought an appliance of security SA520 (for future VPN with another remote desktop) and a switch of SG 300 - 10 p to connect 3 PCs and 3 IP PHONE. The SA 520 is the router. I have to configure 2 VLANS on the switch:

    VLAN2: DATA (for PC)

    VLAN3: VOICE (for IP PHONE)

    VLAN1: BY DEFAULT.

How can I configure simply all ports?

I would like to configure ports 1-4 on 5 to 8 ports and VLAN2, VLAN3 and G10 port is reserved for the SA520 router.

I want to split VOICE and DATA network.

    I think I need to create a trunk on G10 to SA520...

    Can someone help me?

    Hi Julien,

OK sounds like you use it vlan by default for network management and the vlan 2 for vlan3 for voice and data.

I use a calculator for this, my SA520 is ready at the present time.

Step 1   On the SA520 add vlan 2 and vlan 3 and label them voice and data respectively.

Step 2. Allows you to use the switch port 4 on the SA520 as a port to shared resources to the SG-300.

(my intent is to use vlan1 not tagged vlan tagged 2 and vlan tagged 3 on the uplink of the switch and the SA500.)

To do this, I have to say the SA520 port 4 of the switch will be in trunking and not access mode.

You will need to check the membership of vlan 2 and vlan 3 on switch port 4.

Step 3.  Now add a few IPS to VLAN2 and VLAN3

Step 4.  Create DHCP scopes if that is what is needed on the SA520

So now I hope that we have the SA520 with the associated IPS VLAN1, VLAN2 and VLAN3

We also have the switch port 4 as a network interface

We are vlan1 reproducing unidentified and vlan2 tag and tag to the SG-300 switch vlan3.

We do the opposite on the SG-300 switch.

If you use G10 as the uplink to the SA520 you'll notice of default port 10 must already be in trunk mode.

Switch ports G10 should be marked for vlan 2 and labelled for vlan3.  It will be, default Gi10 untagged for vlan1.

Make sure you keep ports switch is correctly set up.

    Best regards, Dave

  • Prevent the vlan 1 on an uplink in UCS

    People,

I have 2 areas of disjoing and I use the new UCS 2.1 feature to allow only some VLAN on a port channel. But what I notice is that there is no way to prevent the vlan 1 to sink on this channel port on the side of the UCS, even if I'm not in the VLAN Manager.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

VLAN 1 can always on your links rising regardless of the leaking L2 configuration.  It is one of the small system.   This is called in the configuration guide:

  • The name 'Player' should be retained or a new name better?

I think of a new name for the 'Player', since it is much more than a humble Player version 3.

I'm a big fan of VMWare 'Player', but I think his name is a little different when I look at its capabilities. He deserves a 'better' name in accordance with its capabilities.

Version 1.x and 2.x 'Player' was a simple player, because it is only able to run or play already created and modified VMWare sessions. That's all.

Now, the 'player' has got a lot of additional features:

    a. creating and editing of the VM sessions with many options

    b. inclusion of VMWare Tools (for download within the application)

    (c) manipulation of the Image of basic disk (shrink, defragment)

    d. basic network configuration

    e. the unit Mode

    f. improved video performance

    g. driverless printing features

    h. shared folders

A new name for the 'Player' could be 'VMWare Workstation Express' or "VMWare Workstation Home". This version is more suitable for personal use, or home. My reason is that the new 'player' is much more than a simple 'player'.

However the product with the name "Workstation" should also be a candidate for a name change, because its capabilities become really great. His name could be extended with 'Professional' or 'ultimate '. This version is more suitable for professional use.

Please don't suggest another rebranding action - if VMware is really starting to find a new name, the result will probably be something as boring as vPlayer or cloud-player

Moreover - the best VMplayer is Workstation-lite - just install Workstation and do not uninstall it after the trial expires.

  • Confused on what I should do to the extent of the VLAN PVID vs

I have a complicated image it's crazy to watch, but I hope I can explain it enough:

I have currently a Powerconnect 2716 connected two Poweredge 2950's particular race as long as ESXi Hypervisors, and their data warehouses are on a MD3000i iSCSI SAN (the main use of the switch is the iSCSI san, servers have connections of backup for the client/guest network access).

Hypervisors vmnic config was hokey at best because we did not have the second gigabit switch to have enough ports to run everything and have redundancy, so I ended up using a lot of 10/100 ports on my Catalyst 3750 PoE switch for guest computers and my iSCSI on the 2716 traffic.

I now have the second 2716 and crosses the configs on the old switch, I realized that I had taken my comments machine network inside out vlan1 and iSCSI ports using the pvid.

Here's my dilemma, I want the network traffic between the two switches for multiple VLANs, but not others.

    My proposed solution is

    (4) VLANS 1, 10, 130, 139.

    (3) GAL: 1 (2-4 ports), 2 (7, 8 ports) 3 (ports 14.14)

belonging to a VLAN will be:

-VLAN1 is for managing the switch, I will have my switches addressed as 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 and I want trunk VLAN1 LAG1 through so I can handle both switches and either: plug to switch to port 1 with a laptop or use a remote VM guest with shared resources in on LAG2 VLAN

-VLAN10 is for my vMotion, just a 10.x.x.x and me planned to redirect it on the LAG even as my machine comments traffic

    -VLAN130 is my iSCSI SAN

    -VLAN139 is my Machine/vSphere Client/visitor access

What I fear is VLAN139 traffic with the filtering of capture off the coast and out without label on 16 port which could cross the trunk of LAG 1 (ports 2,3,4) (via VLAN1) and which causes a loop since the 2716 does not support STP.

I want to master the iSCSI, management switch and vMotion across two switches Dell but I want computers invited to climb their respective uplinks of switches. I can't have curls if not all my client/server traffic will cross through a Dell for the other Dell to find the uplink of work when the cisco STP auto disable one of the ports

Can I do this, even if by default, all ports are in VLAN1 unidentified? Or I'll have to this redesign and PVID allows to separate the ports 10-16 and put my VLAN10 on LAG2 as well as iSCSI traffic?

Can VLAN 10 exist on PVID 2 while the trunk between the 2716 is in 1 PVID and always pass traffic between switches?

Have I fried the brain of everyone with my images and my knowledge "just enough to be dangerous?

    Thanks in advance! :)

PVID 1 is the default, but if you change it on an interface, page 52 ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powerconnect/powerconnect-2708_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf , then it will use the PVID you set to no marked traffic. So if you put LAG3 PVID 139, untagged traffic goes to 139 and tagged will go to VLAN 10. If Cisco is down not signposted in 139 with a PVID of 139, then everything should work correctly with your configuration and do what you want it to do.

  • VLAN Management with the 1000V and UCS

If I want to use 10 VLAN management, to configure the following:

1000V - VM vEthernet port profile coelio with VLAN 10, Ethernet uplink profile includes 10 VLANS

UCS - vNIC in the Service profile, VLAN 10 and include the UCS uplink trunk VLAN 10

Switch upstream: include 10 VLANS in trunk port.

    Ok?

Now, this management VLAN, I then jeutiliser can for everything? I mean to 1000V management VLAN, vSPhere management, management FI and switch? For example management of 1000V or different from others?

    Hi Atle,

Yes, is that what you mentioned, it's good in terms of activities you need to perform. However, I wish to add a few:

    (1) define him vlan on the UCS - except if you do this, that you won't be able to add to the vnic. More once you have set the vlan automatiaclly will get added to the list of trunk on uplink ports (unless you l2-disjoint set up)

You can have the same vlan for all management, unless you have some traffic that you would not want some devices to see / meet.

  • How create VLAN (12,14,15) on switch S5000 and it should communicate with all the VLANS?

  • vMotion works only in a switch and the management

Okay, I reconfigure my network in all of my 3 guests. I had vMotion (via VLAN50) in a vSwitch dedicated using binding rising vmnic0. vMotion between hosts has worked well. It looked like this...

    1.jpg

I want to spend vMotion for a vSwitch shared with the management network. So I deleted the vSwitch2 vmnic0 and added to vSwitch4. Then, I created a new port group for vMotion with a new IP address. See below.

    2.jpg

In vSwitch4 properties, the management network has vmnic7 as active and vmnic0 as the day before. vMotion is set in front of it. The vSwitch is configured to load balance from the originating virtual port ID.

vMotion does not work between hosts and gets stuck at 14%. I get a timeout between 10.10.50.70 and 10.10.50.71 (another host).

I don't know that my physical switch is configured correctly. I have two ports accepting traffic on the management and vMotion VLAN. If I pass around the allocation of vmnic (sort of management use vmnic0 as active and vmnic7 as before) then I can still ping the IP management. Also, if I move back to vSwitch2 vmnic0, vMotion starts working again so I guess I'm missing something on the side of ESXi.

    What Miss me?

    Thanks in advance

OK, problem solved. The webex engineer had in my screen and start troubleshooting this.

First of all, vmkping he had the IP address of the new IP address of vMotion to another host, that has failed. Then, he ran 'esxcfg-vmknic - l' and noticed that the old port vMotion group was always enabled. In the graphical interface it has disabled this by going into the properties of the vSwitch2 > vMotion port group and checked the property of vMotion. Then run vmkping, but it has always failed. Back in the GUI, he removed the vSwitch2 completely. Ran vmkping and it worked.

He assumed the problem was vMotion was trying to communicate through the old switch, in spite of remove me the adapters and the engineer vMotion traffic on the port group in this deactivation switch. It is useless for me to keep the old vSwitches, except as a back fall where vMotion failed. Seems I should have been more courageous and just removed them when I was creating the new vSwitch.

  • Configuration of VLAN 6248 - link IP subnet to the VLAN

We have 200 node network with no VLAN (small private company that developed quickly)

All nodes / devices / etc. of PCs spread evenly over 6 Dell 5448 switches with no regard for the Department, location or usage.

    (1) L3 is 6248 - we've added 6248 route VLANs (everything is on VLAN 1 still - i.e. without marking)

    (2) L2 several VLANS by switch - the best of cases, 2 VLANS by 5448

    (3) trunk / general uplink L2 s 5448 using LAG (44, 45 ports) - should be labelled all traffic, but since it will be a conversion / migration on an e-commerce network 24 x 7, we thought that we would have to do uplink between 5548 s and 6248 General and changes to the trunk later

    (4) for the conversion, all uplinks of trunk/general will have several VLANs marked as vlan1 untagged traffic

    (5) we know fixed us every VLAN gateway IP to the IP address of 6248 maintenance the VLAN, but can't decide how to proceed with no one-to-one correspondence of VLAN LAG uplink

    Questions on 6248

Q1: we would use "bind the IP subnet to the VLAN ' the 6248 to configure routing between VLANS or do we define the belonging to a VLAN by LAG?

Q2: would we be able to ping the IP of the bridge VLAN configured in the 6248 a down host link / node / PC marked for the same VLAN?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

On the 6248 allowing to the VLAN routing you must just ensure each VLAN has an IP address assigned to it:

    Console (config) #interface vlan 5

    Console (config - vlan) #ip address 192.105.1.1 255.255.255.0

Then enable routing on the switch:

    Console (config) #ip Routing

That's all that needs to be configured on the 6248 for VLAN routing to work. One thing to take steps, is that on the 6248 the management VLAN is not routable. By default, the management VLAN is VLAN 1. Two options are to move the management VLAN a VLAN different:

    Console # configure

Console (config) #ip address vlan 99

Or not use VLAN 1 at all. Place traffic on other VLANs.

The answer to your second question is Yes. With the VLAN routing enabled a customer to any what VLAN should be able to ping the gateway of the 6248.

When it comes to generals and trunk mode. General mode is like a combination of access and trunk, you can send several VLANS not identified. General mode is most commonly used on the 6200 switches when connecting with the new switches, trunk sometimes doesn't connect when it is connected to a most recent switch. I suggest using the general mode on the 6248 and if it works, leave it in general mode.

  • Configuration of VLAN (management) SG200 series

    Hello.

Can someone help me configure (a normally very easy thing..) on a Cisco SG200-08 switch?

Please see attachment (sg200 - 1.jpg) for detailed information. ... Sorry in advance for my bad writing :)

    My problem is:

I want to manage the switch via the trunkport (port1) on the SG200 via the MGMT on VLAN30 pc and have everything (7ports) free other VIRTUAL networks.

Please see the attached screenshots for my current config.
This config works (I can ping the pc mgmt sg200), but I can't change the VLAN for port2. (it is said that I lose the management functionality)

    Any ideas?

    Hi Frank,.

Indeed, you'd have this error message and no matter if this VLAN 30 is the default of the switch or just the IPv4 interface is on this VLAN, there should always be a port (outside trunk) to keep the vlan 30 untagged and PVID.

I guess you want to use all ports up but unfortunately it's like switch was design.

    Kind regards

  • How to configure the VLAN for Cisco SG500 - switch 28

    Hello

First of all, it's my first post here, I hope that someone can help me and please be patient because I am very little known.

OK, so let me explain to you the scénarion I face and I hope someone can help me.

We have a Cisco SG500 - 28 port gigabit switch in our workplace.

Our goal is to create 3 VLANs and separate networks between the various departments.

Vlan1 (which is the default VLAN in the switch)-will be used for the COMPUTER service and management.

VLAN100 - will be used for business.

VLAN200 - will be used for clients who need to connect to internet via WiFi.

I created VLAN100 and VLAN200, and VLAN1 is there by default.

I want to use port 13 for VLAN200 and to connect the-Wifi access point there.

The uplink is in port 25.

I would be happy if you could explain things first to a more general, abstract level, and then we can look at the specific scenario that we have.

    SG500 Cisco - 28 Gets a Sophos UTM 9 router internet.

I need to take care of the inter - VLAN routing so, subnet and DHCP

    Thanks in advance,

    Sincere greetings,

    D

Hi Desmond, looking at this DHCP pool it looks correct.

For the second part, you waant VLAN 200 only work on VLAN 200, that's fine. So if you have an access point, and everything on the VLAN 200 connects to the access point, you can make an access to this list. The access list is entered only, which means the inbound interface.

So if you have a gateway connecting to #1 port. You'll need to build the access list and apply it to port number 1. That's assuming you make a list of access 'decline' subnet source IP of VLAN 200 destined for the other subnet, that you do not want access.

The image on another post to fill out your reference numbers, then for the ACL link, it should be placed on the interface VLAN 200 first comes to the switch (IE, the port the access point connects, make sure that you choose to bind by port instead of per VLAN)
