Time Capsule Internet

I recently moved houses and received a new router xfinity, the new router uses dual band wifi. (I don't have it in my old house)

Before you set up my time capsule 2 TB, I had two options wifi, one using 5 (for computers) and the other using 2 (for phones).

After I set up my time capsule I had a third option (my time capsule), is when I am confused.

I started thinking questions-

  • I thought it was going to get rid of the other two and put it in a
  • This product contain 2 speeds and 5 speed
  • is it possible to hide the other two but uses the main as the only?

If someone can explain to me how it works and maybe if I can do what I want to id be grateful.

You can run two routers wireless dual band side by side without any problems.

Both will issue on 2.4 ghz and 5 GHz.

Phones and devices can connect to a wifi.

There is no confusion. Both routers have names different wifi.

If you don't want that one name for all... manually change the names.

Setup the TC with the same name as the Xfinity wireless... same password. Phones and computers will join then regardless of the band and the router is best for them.

Phones can connect to 5 GHz if you iphone5 or later version. Computer can still connect to these two groups. There is no separation of 5 GHz for computers and 2.4 ghz for phones... everyone is joining the best signal in this situation.

  • iMac causes the connection to Time Capsule Internet to lock up

Whenever my iMac wakes up and connects to my Time Capsule via a Wi - fi, internet connection the TC freezes immediately for all connected devices, including the iMac.  I first noticed the issue on the iMac where internet was not accessible through any application on the system.  Then I went to my MacBook Pro, I found the same problem from happening.  Even on my iPhone and iPad.  I assumed it was an ISP issue and abandoned.

A few hours later, I went back to my MBP and found the internet connection has been re-established and working properly.  I then went back and woke to my iMac and open Safari.  The field of the internet to a halt.  Back on my MBP connection was suspended again.  Now I think that my iMac was the problem, I turned off wifi on the iMac, and the page that I tried to load it on my MBP immediately came.

Then I tried don't start the iMac in Mode safe mode to see if I could eliminate the problem... no chance.  Even in safe mode, when it is connected to on the wifi time capsule, the internet connection for the entire House grinds to stop.

So, to summarize, when my iMac is awake and connected to my Time Capsule via wifi, internet connection for all devices connected to this wifi network hangs up completely.  The moment I turn off wifi on the iMac, the internet connection is restored immediately at full speed for all other devices on the network.

I'm at a total loss about what to do next... any ideas?

Please start the iMac in recovery mode. To connect to the network. The same thing happens?

After my vacation my Time Machine's backups. The Internet works, but the backup utility cannot find the device more. The last backup is a few days before my holiday a month ago.

In the Time Machine - page select disk (config) TC logo is there, but the only option is to 'remove' the current disk/copy.

El Capitan, Time Capsule + Airport Express; Time Machine

I think I have solved the problem in a strange way:

-J' watched the disc of airport in the Finder; He had to connect to the TC unit (password information automatically), and content (two sparsebundles) was now visible.

And after that, at the same time the backup started. It will take 7 hours to complete the backup. It seems that it is regarded as an initial backup then.

Furthermore, the disc name is passed automatically Time Capsule etc. airport to disk .

  • iPhone cannot connect to the Internet via time capsule

I have a current execution capsule 7.7.7 time. IPhones in my house can't get internet service when it is connected to the time capsule. My iPad, I tap on it now, can get internet time capsule service. My Mac can connect. I restarted the capsule of time with my modem cable many times. My passwords are correct.

I also have a smart Vizio TV that does not connect to the Internet. This is true with wifi and also with a wired connection to the time capsule.

I don't know what the cause of the problem. Any help will be appreciated.

He has worked in the past and now could not or never worked?

Apple routers can sometimes decide autonomously switch to bridge mode. If your cable modem is not a router, you MUST have the apple router... TC in your case DHCP and NAT mode.

If you have not done before you reset the TC at the factory and re-do the installation. Here are my recommendations.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    The installer the TC.

Then redo the configuration of the computer that you want to use for TM using Airport utility.

    1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the wireless is still an issue defined wireless names like TC24ghz and assigned the 5 GHz other name... eg.TC5ghz.

Finally, use fixed channels in 2.4 ghz... try 11, 9 and 6, in that order.

(leave the security for a few minutes and see if that makes a difference).

For iphone and TV with problems in your Setup program ensure that the TC is NAT and DHCP... try to use a different such as google public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

    2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

** 3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC.

Ignore this point if you don't understand it... after the return if you drop questions.

    4. be sure that IPv6 is set correctly in the computer. IE link-local only for ethernet or wireless depending on whether you are using. Car is not good enough.

Tell us which modem cable, you have, make and model please?

The TC has problems with some popular brands... one of the SB series a modem port is malfunctioning.

  • Can I use my time capsule for wired Internet?

The fundamental question is, I can connect my time capsule to my wireless internet router and then use the capsule to connect my iMac to the Internet with an Ethernet cable?

The back story: I have an i7 iMac late 2009 that has worked perfectly until that somewhere around OS x Lion. The update came, and suddenly the wifi became shotty; intermittent connectivity that could last from 2 hours to 2 minutes and often, the computer would suddenly turns off. So, I just took an Ethernet cable from my gateway wireless comcast directly to my time capsule and then another was running for the TC to the iMac. It worked perfectly when the router and the iMac were in the same room. Since then, we moved and there is only a single coaxial connection of work in the new House, and this room that can hold your desktop. Now, I searched high and low for a fix for the problem of wifi, without success; reset the PRAM, change the wireless channel reset wireless packet, you name it I tried it (with the exception of a reinstallation of firmware lion before the airport summary-pretend). I really do not have the money to have someone come run an Ethernet cable through my walls now or to understand the situation of coaxial cable (I tried to do it me but there are about 10 outputs and the room that I want to use seems to actually be connected directly on a former satellite Hughes-NET on the side of the House). Now, this wireless to the dream of the Ethernet connection is my only option... Anyway I can make it work?

The fundamental question is, I can connect my time capsule to my wireless internet router and then use the capsule to connect my iMac to the Internet with an Ethernet cable?

The answer is not quite as simple.

Yes... If your 'hand' wireless router is another Apple wireless router.

No.... If your 'hand' wireless router is a part 3.

However, you have two options if you have a 3rd party router that provides to your wireless network:

    (1) add an AirPort Express and it set up to 'join' the network wireless provided by your 3rd party product. Then, the AirPort Express can provide wired Ethernet cable of the Time Capsule and the iMac can connect to the time Capsule using Ethernet as well.

    (2) If you can not run the Ethernet cable... (always the best performance option)... a pair of Ethernet over Powerline adapters could be able to send the Ethernet signal via power lines the existing AC in your House.  In other words, the theory with EoP devices is that you already have the wiring in place, you must just adapters.

An adapter would be located near your router 'primary' and plugged into an outlet. A short Ethernet cable connects to the router to the EoP adapter.  In contrast, an another EoP adapter is plugged into a power outlet near the time Capsule and a short Ethernet cable connects from the adapter to the time Capsule. Then, the iMac connects to time Capsule using a different Ethernet cable as well.

  • Connection of Internet Time Capsule airport

Before buying, I asked the store if this would replace my sky router, they said yes. However, all connections are WAN/LAN, and there is no reference to a direct connection to my BT socket (via a broadband filter). Should I still my Sky router).

Unfortunately, the store bad informed you. The Apple base station, including your new Time Capsule do NOT have a built-in modem. You will still need a modem to access the Internet with it... then Yes, you can be forced to keep your sky existing for this hub or get a dedicated modem (no router).

  • our airport time capsule connects to computers and the internet, but does not record on the usefulness of the airport as being there - is it dying or is their a reset?

Our computers connect via wifi to a capsule of time to the airport and to the internet, but can't find the time capsule, nor can its hard drive. Y at - it a reset, we can try or he dies. It's only a couple of months.

Turn about your Airport Extreme for 15 seconds and then power back on. As soon as you see the green light, you should be able to see him for a minute or two in the Airport utility. In the affirmative, and see if you have Back to My Mac active. If so, disable it by removing all the e-mail addresses of the back section of my Mac. Then update your Airport Extreme. Work quickly.

Many have started having this problem within the last week, probably because Apple changed something in its servers CCMM. A real difficulty would come from Apple, but it should work if you currently have active CCMM.

  • WiFi work stopped on Time Capsule, but manages to get internet

Part of our time Capsule Wifi stopped working in our office.  He continues to receive internet because everything that is connected to the internet can connect properly, including our VoIP phone system.  It just seems to be the Wifi on the Time Capsule.  The network will appear as an option on our devices, but when we try to connect, it continues to request the password.  We tried to reset and unplug, but we are unable to join the wireless network.  The time Capsule is two years old, so I don't feel like it should be failed.  Any suggestions?

    WiFi may fail.

Please do a full factory reset.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Run through the installation wizard in airport utility

Make sure you only give a name short and simple wifi... No, Apple has recommended. < 10 characters, pure alphanumeric characters.

    for example TCwifi

Or even give the 2 strips of different names, for example TC24ghz and TC5ghz

Password use WPA2 Personal, pure from 8 to 20 alphanumeric characters.

If you still have questions wireless... the TC may be broken.

If you have applecare on a computer or an ipad or apple TV the TC is covered and get Apple to replace.

If it is less than 2 years old and you don't have applecare you can always buy.

Is this more or less 2 years... It is essential... If it is still 1 day less than you can be replaced.

Buy applecare on any product that you already have still eligible or buy a Gen3 Apple TV... don't open it. Buy applecare for it... get your TC replaced under the applecare... return the apple TV for refund.

  • Apple TV / Hue lights have no internet connection (but the phones and computers do) - only disconnect Time Capsule fixed guess?

    Hello

My Apple TV will sporadically lose access to my iTunes library (despite showing the connection and a signal strong) and Netflix will not play.  My tint lights are not recognized when this happens.  When I restart the AppleTV, then it shows that they are not connected to the internet.  However, my computer and the phone still have functioning wifi in these proceedings.

There is a wifi wireless in the House. What is the cause?

Potentially, Yes. Network Wi - Fi of the new Time Capsule can interfere with this other Wi - Fi router. What is the brand and model of the other device? What are your objectives of networking for the Time Capsule (TC)? In other words, do you want to expand the wireless of the other device, or create another Wi - Fi network, or something else?

  • Time capsule of access on the Internet (PC MAC or Windows)

Hi, I have a Time Capsule, and I want to create a folder and be able to access from anywhere on the Internet (regardless if it's on a MAC or PC based on Windows). I read several posts and google, but still I am unable to set up the time Capsule. Can any experienced user me explained step by step?

    Thank you

    SGL

You need to tell us a few things.

1 do you have TC as the only router in the network.

If this is not the case, the configuration is entirely via the main modem router combo.

Without a public IP address on the interface wan everything that is your router, you will not be able to access it remotely. For the most part, wireless, satellite or internet shared building will not allow always remote access.

    2. double NAT will never work, so if you already have another router modem the TC must be in the bridge.

3 Apple offers NO WAY for PC/windows remote access to the TC. Neither iOS btw... the Apple of the only method allows is AFP via a Mac.

Local people do via SMB to TC port mapping... It is poor and does not always work.

The tool used for iOS, filebrowser shows how this is possible.

    http://www.Stratospherix.com/support/gsw_timecapsule.php?page=6Remote

I do not recommend this somehow... It's open ports in a way that reduces your security seriously.

I repeat... Apple has no PC access.

    4. There is a safe way to do it... buy a vpn router and use before the TC. VPN is recognized global method for secure remote access. Who will work for any device having vpn client available... OpenVPN is the easiest in terms of cost, configuration and security.

    5. There is another method entirely, and that is to store the files you need to join in the cloud... Cloud is a better resource than to use your own router as Pseudo-nuage.

If you eliminate the need for PC access then use BTMM for access to the TC.

CCMM is authorized only and only the Apple method which are likely to work.

    Have you even tried yet?

See Tesserax doco on remote access.

  • Time capsule does not connect to the Internet! Help!

I bought my own personal modem (surfboard SB6121) and activated with Comcast. I connect to my modem via an Ethernet cable and it works perfectly. But when I connect the modem to time capsule, I can't connect to the internet. I have already restored it and still nothing. The light blinks orange and 2 notification messages I get are no internet connection and no DNS server.

    anything else I can do?

Apple routers have known problems with some modems... which you have chosen the second worst... SB6141 is most noted as problematic, followed closely by SB6121.

The question is the more remarkable with the airports of model AC... If TC or AE.

The perhaps impossible question of fixing...

First of all turned off, looks that you can not be Exchange to the customer or to the router modem correctly.

When swap you from a computer directly connected to the TC you MUST turn off the modem for about 15-20 min... you do this?

    Otherwise, it's what it takes...

If you have already done this... Sorry it is simply the question of compatibility and will not work.

Are you IPv6 zone you define IPv6 properly...

  • Time Capsule or airport repeatedly loss of internet connection

    Greetings,

Last month, I had a problem with my Apple Time Capsule and my cable company router intermittently lose Internet several times a day between.  This has happened several times a day.  My Time Capsule, Airport utility would show a 'green' status, but the status of 'Internet' is yellow.  It would resolve itself after several minutes, or if I rebooted the time Capsule.

I did some troubleshooting and here's what I've been able to determine:

    • My internet business is the spectre of the Charter, and I use a Modem Arris.  The lights on the modem showed upstream internet connection was good, and technical support of the Charter stated that it was not a problem between the servers and the modem.  So, this seems to be a problem with the connection between the modem and the time Capsule.
    • Digging in the settings of the time Capsule, I noted that at one point defaults under the utility Airport-> Internet-> Internet Options-> "Configure IPv6" on the Time Capsule has changed its 'Link-Local only' to 'automatically '.  I am not sure when this change happened, but maybe with Time Capsule 7.7.3, firmware which I installed it right around the time the problems started.
    • I changed the IPv6 of Time Capsule settings go back to the "link-Local only" and since then have not lost to the Internet once

So it seems to be an incompatibility between the IPv6 to my ISP configuration and configure IPv6 'automatically' on the Apple Time Capsule.  At this point the IPv4 and IPv6 protocols are still supported in the internet, but once IPv4 disappears at some point in the future I'll have to change the settings.  I hope that by then an update of the firmware from Apple or the modem from my ISP will fix this incompatibility.

Hope this is useful to someone else!

There is a document with settings for routers airport Apple on IPv6 with Comcast... I know that it works with TWC and it will probably also work with the Charter.

    http://mydeviceinfo.Xfinity.com/download.php?file_id=35

There will be problems with dentition with IPv6 for awhile... Cox is the principal who is problematic at the moment and there are a number of positions that have also recommended parameters.

IPv6 can also work if you use IPv4 dns servers of google... So the same instructions as the above document, but just simply replace the ISP DNS with values of google.

Your Arris modem can also be a problem... We have noted problems with the model AC AE and TC WAN port with a number of modems... It's completely outside the issue of IPv6.

  • Time Capsule guard disconnect from the Internet

I'm having a problem with my internet, and I'm running out of things to try. I've got the most recent Time Capsule with connection ca.

I have replaced the cable modem and have removed my extender. Always get disconnected every 12 hours or more. I can still access my local network, just the internet disconnects. I did a hard reset and replaced the cables. Unable to connect WiFi devices. What are my options?

Unfortunately, we do not have much in terms of specific details that would help us to try to understand what the real issue here might be... the things you may already have... but did not mention in your message.

You connect your computer directly to the modem a few days see if Internet connection "holds" that way... or... If Internet disconnection problems still continue during the period of "test"?

Have you had a technician from your Internet Service Provider (ISP), come out to your home to inspect all cables and connectors associated with the Internet line?

What is the number and the model of the modem?  We ask this question because there are a few compatibility problems between the series SB-Motorola/Arris modems and the newer 802.11ac models of AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule from the airport.

Who is your ISP?  Most of the suppliers are in the current process of implementation of a new type of Internet connection called IPv6 in their current systems, requiring updates and changes on the system that are supposed to happen during the night gently... but sometimes cause a loss of Internet connection in the process. IPv6 implementation goes relatively smoothly for most suppliers, except a major player in particular who asks various questions documented with current Apple routers.

Finally, there was some problems power stability on newer routers AirPort, causing a momentary intermittent loss of power resulting in an interruption of the connection when the airport restarts automatically. This question is very difficult to catch, because it happens very quickly and it must almost be watching time to know that it took place at the airport.  If everything else goes out, it may be the router from the airport that needs to be replaced. I personally had this problem, and the only solution was to replace the AirPort base station.

Apple routers can be very problematic on some connections... You use PPPOE with any kind of modem? Apple routers have proved to be unreliable with this setup for some people. In particular the fiber connections simply do not work very well.

For you help, we need to know what kind of internet that you have and the modem... brand and model may not mean a lot but the actual type, is it a pure modem or a router? Or do you not need a router at all. If it is an installation of fiber you plug straight ethernet of ONTARIO at the time Capsule?
