  • Incredibly slow Internet response time.

    Original title: taskbar

I had a problem with incredibly response times Internet. After reboot, I discovered in the taskbar, the icon of the single computer that deals with network connections, i.e. wifi had an x in it, which means it is turned off. (This isn't the icon to connect to the LAN of double work). Because my PC is using wifi and is not also connected to the cable, I was wondering what task is connected to wifi.

I also noticed that my Internet speed of response actually works at an acceptable speed now that the icon shows it is off. Which task is this icon, so that I can disable it using msconfig and task is WiFi so that one is not?

I use a Dell desktop computer, through Time Warner Cable. I had the SP3 for some time and that you have not added any new programs or updates, that I remember for a while.

The only change in my computer added wifi (after moving to a new House/State) about six months ago.
As a further complication, when I logged on today, connecting to the wifi network shown in the taskbar opened and ran into a mode of connection 'very good '. So yesterday and the previous week, I had access to the Internet with it NOT connected. My taskbar displays a computer screen green with waves in the upper left corner and says "Netgear WNA3100 is connected to...". "my camera wifi router in the basement next to the TW modem.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that there are two connections wifi different trying to run... one that was working yesterday and one today showing tasks in my bar.
I blame that for my calculation of the slow speeds.

Looks like you have three icons of network connection...

    1. area (cable) connection icon - two screens - probably with a red X

    2. the icon of Windows wireless - a blue screen with 'waves '.

3 - Netgear wireless connection icon describe you it as 'green with waves screen '.

It also seems that maybe you think that 2 and 3 are separate connections. This is not the case, they will just separate indicators of the same wireless connection.

Reading between the lines a bit, my guess is that you used to have only 1 and 2, but now you have the 3rd too. If I'm right, probably, what happened is that you have started the application of Netgear wireless configuration, which experience tells me tends to 'support' of Windows wireless configuration without even asking if you want that to happen. All you need to do to get rid of this icon of the green screen is open the Netgear configuration (via its system tray icon) and find a check box saying "let Windows to manage my wireless network connection" (or words to that effect, in addition, it is that the word 'zero' in the text). If you have no network connection after doing this, then you were always in a Netgear configuration and you will have two choices...

    1. Start the Netgear form the menu start and reverse the changes that you just made
    2. Configure Windows to control the wireless connection

If you want to Setup Netgear instead of Windows use, I think that you will have to put up with the two icons.

    Hello mdchips,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

I've included a link to an Article on dealing with Windows Vista time Sync problems how
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/dealing-with-Windows-Vista-time-sync-problems/

If your clock is constantly out of sync, even if she says that the synchronization was successful, the problem could be that your computer is losing time due to a problem with the system clock. There is an easy way to synchronize via the command line prompt.

    Clock synchronization of command line

Open an administrative mode command prompt (make a right click, run as administrator), and then type the following command:

    w32tm/Resync

If that's not enough, please post again and we will continue troubleshooting with you.

  • Windows 7 "do not have permission" - Internet Time - > change the settings

I have Windows 7 Pro 32 bit installed on my laptop. I have only one configuration of account which I am the administrator of the computer.

When you try to access the control ' Change settings ' to 'Date and time'-> 'Internet time' I'm stuck with the following message:

"UNABLE TO CONTINUE - you are not authorized to perform this task." Please contact the administrator of the computer to help. »

What is happening and how to fix this? It seems a little silly that I as the administrator have blocked access to this.

Your thoughts and your advice on this would be appreciated gratefully.

    1. click on start.

    3. click on user accounts.

    4. click on change user account settings.

  • Clock on Satellite M50D-A - 10 d never shows the correct time

All the time I have set the clock in, it always goes bad after a short time.
Even went into Bios and set the clock here very precisely, that it won't always.
It isn't easy because all the documents that I work for the school are badly dated, changes, do not get sorted correctly and so on...

What can I do to get the exact time? (and Yes, it is supposed to be set automatically by windows)

Return the laptop and the set?

    concerning

    Hugo

Could you please provide some essential info on the laptop model, the system and the version of the BIOS?
Is the laptop connected to the internet or you are working offline.

If the laptop is connected to internet, it synchronizes automatically time with server time of Windows and sometimes the clock doesn't see the good due to some problems.

Probably you have already tried to change the time manually by clicking the change data and time settings. Right?

Well, in the window of the Date and time you have 3 tabs. The last tab called time Internet provides sync settings. It displays information about the last synchronization and when happens the next synchronization. You will also see the server time is synchronized automatically. The current server should be time.windows.com.

To change the current server, click the Change settings button. Here you can choose the server. Click on move down and the list of servers.

The temporary Internet items/Downloaded Program files: delete Internet Temp files/cookies but never the objects/program Temp files regularly. The reason is that the "last date of access: ' is still showing the day I visit the. I didn't want to do it if it meant it would interfere with the operation on the day the day of my PC/access some programs. Program files consist of programs such as JavaRuntimeEnvironment, ParallelGraphics Cortona, MessengerStatsClient, ShockwaveActiveX and others. Most say "installed" and a date of creation, but some say "damaged". My apologies if this question is fundamental, but appreciate any thoughts on this issue. Thank you - Keith-Shenstone

    Hi Keith,

    · What you are referring when you say "but some say"damaged "?

    · Where exactly do you see that?

Downloaded program files are ActiveX controls and Java programs that are automatically downloaded from the Internet when you view certain pages. These files are temporarily stored in the Downloaded Program Files folder on the hard disk.

The "Downloaded program files" folder contains a feature that allows you to easily uninstall ActiveX controls. When this folder is deleted, a new "Downloaded Program Files" folder is created the next time Internet Explorer to download new program files. However, the newly created folder does not contain the functionality to easily uninstall ActiveX controls.

The controls that have been deleted by the original folder are listed with the damaged state. These controls must be removed because the associated files have already been deleted.

You can use built in Disk Cleanup tool in windows that allows you to delete unnecessary files from your hard drive.

See the link below: how to automate the disk cleanup tool in Windows XP:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315246
