Tool to display the configuration of VMware ESX in a human readable form

Hello

I'm looking for a tool to display our configuration of our vSphere hosts.

Is there a tool available (perhaps thirdparty)?

Kind regards

Roland

If no "hostprofiles" use this https://labs.vmware.com/flings/inventorysnapshot.

With this tool you can do too much extract configurations and reproduce the same return.

    Hello

    Welcome to the forums.

I'm looking to set up a Plan for continuity of the business using Vmware ESX. I would like to install an outside site that will duplicate a few key servers. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this with ESX? Is it as simple as pushing Server snapshots to the offsite location? Any ideas...

One thing to know is that a snapshot in terms of "VMware" is not a full copy of the disc, it is a file that contains the changes to the drive block since the snapshot was created. Snapshots of assistance in making backups of virtual machines running, but allowing the basic disk to copy while the data is written to the snapshot. Then, you're the snapshot.

So how do DR/BC is having a good backup strategy using one of the available backup/replication tools.

    There are:

    Veeam Backup w/replication

Vizioncore vRanger backup and vReplicator for replication connection

EsXpress doctorate for backup (restorations of use for replication)

There is also some SRM if your San is supported, etc.

So there are a lot of options the question is how 'real time' you need the data. You could also use the replication SAN, Double Take, etc.

Even after activation of the virtual technology in the BIOS, the PCI device is not listed in "Advanced settings" to configure pass-through. Attached screenshot shows the current setting of the processor.

    Hello Sara

You're talking Direct path IO or single root i/o virtualization? If so, none of these features are supported on the 2970 system.

I don't think that or the other of these characteristics were available until our 11 generation systems.

  • Check the number and size of the partitions on VMware ESX

As I am not responsible of the ESX host facilities, but will be responsible for the final ESX cluster I would check the configured partitions configured by our Tec facility to ensure that all hosts are configured correctly.

Does anyone know of a CLI command to view the partitions (points of size and editing) of an ESX host.

    Paul

    P.S. I've tried using the df - h command, but I'm only displays a limited number of partitions, i.e.; / Boot and/var/log

    Evening,

VDH h will show you all partitions, including those controlled by the VMKernel.

  • VMware Tools missing in the Installation of VMware Player 7

    Hi all

If I try to install/upgrade to update VMware Tools after the Installation of VMware Player 7 no ISO will be connected to the virtual machine.

I checked the directory of Installation of VMware Player for the ISOs of the tools but no ISOs are there.

Can you help me out of this Situation or is it a missing element in the installer?

    Thank you

    Michael

I just downloaded VMware-player - 7.0.0 - 2305329.exe and installed under Windows 7 x 64 and had no problems with it automatically detect installed VMware Tools to the guest operating system to be downloaded and successfully downloaded.  Having said that, have you tried? : Player > file > Preferences... > download now all components

Maybe something is blocking you to download the VMware tools.

You could also do it manually by using the following tools from VMware for VMware Player 7.0.0.

Unzip the file, then run the executable result and it will silently install the file without any indication that he actually did like this isn't really so planned how to do even if it works!

  • How to refine the configuration of Vmware server on windows host

    Hello

can someone explain how to refine the Vmware host windows server edition?

    Hello

First, you decide what you want to use the VMWARE server.

If you want to use vmware server for only to keep the plane comments at end of test system administartion, during the installation of VMware server you will need to customize your installation.

In the Customize installation disable the Modules Perl script which are used for development purposes, after installing the server, go to services & disable services unwanted, assume that you use no DHCP & NAT, then disable these services. In doing so, it will save the memory & performance increase of you host mechine.

When you create your mechine comments try to reduce unwanted devices, how to remove the floppy drive if you don't want to use in the mechine comments. like this, try to reduce the additional devices you use rarely, if you're runnin server edition comments mechines, then try to reduce you is display resolution, which will give a good performance.

  • VMware tools State prevents the publication of VMware templates

    Hi all

I have created a template in Lab Manager 3.0, but I am unable to change the status to released because Virtual Center 2.5 and Lab Manager 'think' that VMware tools is not installed.

It is a new installation of Redhat RHEL Server 5.0, kernel 2.6.18 - 92.el5. The VMware tools install seemed to go very well, without error. rpm and yum both agree that VMwareTools 7302-123630 is installed. Same Virtual Center showed VMware Tools as 'OK' for a minute before changing the status "not installed".

Reboots and reinstalls have not changed behavior. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,-Jeff

Go to the properties of the virtual machine template. Uncheck "Run the customization" and click Update. Now try the editing model.

  • Pleasae offers below the configuration of VMware

    Hi friends

We have 4 ESX servers (model HP DL380 G6, RAM - 128 GB, CPU-8, each sevrver, ESX version: Vsphere), 98 VM servers (most of the servers is production servers).

We have created a cluster with failover HA level 2 and DRS - fully automated.

Not the CVS option turned on.

Recently, we are facing problem like some VM servers restart, sometimes very slow.

Please suggest, *What are the steps that we need to check and y at - it something must change settings HA and DRS? *.

    Hi Murali99,

98 virtual machines on a 4-node cluster is a high ratio of consolidation. But you have powerful physical machines, it should be OK (depending on the load of the VM...). You must check the load of each host and check the balance of cluster to check if the DRS is OK.

What is the root cause of the VM restarts? It's a kind of HA event or a problem with the storage...? Take a look at the newspapers and check your shared storage space.

Trying to figure out if the problem is only on a single host, if it is memory, processor or storage...

    Good luck

  • Can I turn off the setting that displays the height and width in a small black box when you use the marquee selection tool?

In Photoshop CC on a mac...

When you use the marquee selection tool, a little black box appears next to the cursor and displays in real time, the height and the width of the selection.  The same annoying box also appears when you drag an item with the tool move, displaying the numeric position of the cursor.  Is there anyway to disable the display of this little black box?  It makes me crazy.

In cmd/ctrl-k preferences click "Interface". At the bottom of the interface user is a drop down menu to see the transformation. The value as 'never '.

I have read the manual and online and not found a command that displays the configuration details of one or more ports. It is a Powerconnect 34xx series switch.

    Y at - it such a command?

    # show running-config, should show all ports and their current status of switchport. Unless they are all on the default 1 VLAN, then they cannot show. What happens when you make one # see the race?

  • Display the PIX ver 6.3 (4) config

    Hi all

All of a sudden I'm more able to display the configuration file running a PIX 515 v 6.3 (4) in the usual way. In the past, after issuing the command "show execution", the PIX will be stop and ask "- More -" press a key to continue. So either I have to press the space bar to display the next page, press return to display a line and press any letter to quit. Now the show, run the command will simply display the start to the end without stopping. How can I fix and restored to the original setting? Thank you

    • When you click on one of the buttons to Test it snaps back you to the screen "Welcome to vCenter Log Insight."
    • You can click Next return to where you were (without having to re - enter information)
    • Observed the same behavior when you click "Add vCenter Server" for the Configuration of VMware integration phase (when you click Next in this article an empty box is available to fill with vCenter Server information)

  • Simulation of material on VMWare ESX Server (is it possible?)

Hello I am a student and write my thesis of license.

The theme of my thesis is the 'comparison of VMWare ESX Server and Citrix XenServer'.

After I installed XenServer on the material, I was able to simulate the material and got the possibility of

OEM-Versions of Microsoft operating systems install VM on XenServer. With this feature can save our customers

money, because they can use the Versions OEM of MS products provided by our care.

Now my question! Is it possible to simulate the material on VMWare ESX Server and install the OEM Versions

or are there other ways how I can install the OEM Versions on VMWare ESX Server?

I've seen this kind of problem before as well and it's the media. Try to download eval software as an ISO and see if it works.

I know say you it worked with xenserver then why not with esx - I can't answer this question I can only tell you want that I found worked.
