Two calls from a man who claims that he is Microsoft asking me to turn on my computor so he can guide me through the elimination of the virus. When questioned he gets flumexed. Someone did he do this experience too?

• Phone call from a person who claims to work for Windows.

  Occasionally my old computer crashes when I read a Blog, and I have to close it manually.  When I start backup it asks if I want to send an error message.  If I do not send the message, in a few days I get a phone call from someone claiming to work for Windows and they want access to my computer.  Is it a coincedence?  It happened three times in the past months, and I know that Microsoft does not call customers.  So is there someone who works at Microsoft who does something they shouldn't?  The people who have always had Indian accents or Chinese who are difficult to understand.

  Short answer: Yes. It is a scam. Not much interest to report, as MS are well aware of this problem, but there is little they can do about it since then (I guess) most of the calls are created outside the United States

  I received two telephone calls from a seller who claims to represent Microsoft saying that my computer was "unwanted download."  He has given two different names for him society, something like 'Windows provider Services' the first time and was the call from a blocked number.  He directed me to some information in my System Manager (right click on computer, then Event Viewer) who recorded downloads of updates to MSWindows (lucky I knew what I wanted to).  I wanted Microsoft to know that there were people claiming to be outside suppliers working for MS calling and giving misleading information.  I do not see who to contact about this, so I'm posting this information here, hoping someone will pass this along to the appropriate Microsoft part.

  I had my Windows operating system from a seller so I knew from the start (before even that I was their number has been blocked) that I was dealing with a fraud, but the guy was very persistent and had an accent of the Indian subcontinent, so if I didn't it would have been pretty convincing.

  As usual, this is another scam.

  Unless you have a support contract prepaid or you raise a support ticket with Microsoft, no Microsoft will call you about the problems with your PC.

  All these crooks are trying to do is access your PC so they can steal your personal data, which is bank details etc. Under no circumstances should allow you remote access to your PC.

  Microsoft introduces not calls to customers about technical assistance. More than likely the person calling you is a scam. For your protection, do not provide information personal to that person or him allows to access your machine remotely.

  Today, I received a phone call from an Indian man who claims to be a technician. He said that my laptop has been sending error reports for the last 3 months. He then said that my uTorrent was the question and I still called b - s. I installed it there, but I still have to download torrents. He said that my laptop has 4000 + error messages and they have been displayed on my screen. He decided to transfer me to his manager and that's when I hung up and restarted my laptop and run a full scan once more. What caught my attention, he was actually the registration # from my laptop and he repeated to me. The first time, they called the caller ID said "unknown name, unknown number." The second time they called a number actually popped up. (516-515-7279), I decided to give the number a call, and I didn't get any answer. I searched all over the internet and Ammyy scams pop up but all scammers are pretending be Microsoft certified technicians and I heard again scammers claim that they work with universal Tech Support. Now, I'm very curious to know whether or not Microsoft is doing a collaboration with this company.

  That's all just a scam

  Your PC regularly send error reports to Microsoft. This helps Microsoft determine what issues affect most users. During the transfer of these technical error reports information are transferred between your computer and the Microsoft server. NO personal data are transferred, so ask yourself "How did get my information?

  Any company (or individual) can get a database of potential customers, providing that they are willing to pay for this information. It may just be a voters list that could include your address and telephone number. Whatever list it's this list gives this company/individual details that they need to cold call you.

  Unless you have a contract to support prepaid with Microsoft, then Microsoft 'never' will call you about a problem with your machine. Yes there are Microsoft Certified Software engineers out there, but they do not work to make them work for companies that are independent of Microsoft.

  If you receive a similar appeal to new everything simply replace the telephone receiver and have no more to do with the appellant. Under no circumstances should allow you remote access to your PC. This is fatal. All they are after is your personal data such as password, coordinated and banking passwords etc.

  It is a SCAM, you did the right thing hang up on him. He just wanted your information so he could use it for illegal purposes.
