TX2517ca, will not start - blue LED - Num Lock & Lock lights blink.

laptop just decided NOT to start a day... I can hear the fan and HARD drive activity minimal. I tried the Hard reset as directed by HP and removed the battery etc...  lights blink at the exact same time, stay on for 1 second and off for 3 seconds and then Flash simultaneously again and does not stop until I pull the power, there is no clicking, grinding, beep, nothing, nothing on the screen at all. The rest of the lighted buttons are lit in blue.

FYI, I am a 15... computer technician home based at this time. so I pulled the memory, cleaned, air-dried to compress (1 GB & 2 GB), 2 of them and blue on the slots and reinstall even by only 1 at the time, no change, same result, flashing of the LED. Then I pulled just the hard disk connected to another machine as an external HARD drive, it works fine, I see the C drive and the disc of recovery without any problem. so at this point, I just shot from the card pile and leave for a while see if we can clear the BIOS/CMOS (I was wondering if the software is stuck in hibernation or sleep setting and when turn is only back to the similar condition, but represent no display on the screen...) so far points to CPU I think. Then after having replaced existing hard drive and try to start if it does not work, I have a blank hard drive to work I can insert to the hell of it... stay tuned...

Also system Oh, hair Immaculate, not collected or dust in the ports of fan etc...

  • HP Pavilion dv5z-1200 will not start, flashing LEDs

LEDs keep blinking once every 4-5 seconds, computer does not start even in the BIOS.  Out of warranty.  The table shows the CPU is not functional.  After the hard reset several times, after the failure of the CMOS, I reinstalled the memory modules, nothing helps.  I opened the darn thing, reinstall the CPU, cleaned the existing thermal paste and replaced with a high thermal conductivity, one and clean thermal gel pads ugly that supposedly provide a cooling the GPU.  All this for nothing.

Should I assume by now that the CPU is fried, or is there a chance to distance the BIOS EPROM chip is toast and cause all this?  Someone has experience in this sense, is the flashing model good to locate the faulty component?  All ready to offer their advice Jan 11-12 HP Expert?  I replaced a BIOS chip in an another HP Pavilion of last spring, so it wouldn't be a problem.  Don't want to invest all efforts - and paste - for nothing.

In any case, this is / was my last HP laptop ever.  Between a ze4547 and this dv5z, I got so of many hardware problems, I prefer to buy netbooks cheap every two years than spend a zillion things expensive, shiny, flashy with abject genius inside.

    Thanks in advance to anyone!

Taking up this issue and reported a permanent fix (i.e., more than 5 months).  Yet once, the defect could not solder in the graphics chip ATI Radeon (Northbridge).

Chip HP ships this with a simple gel pad main Board between the radiator and the graphics, which after > 1 year of running hot develops inclusions of air and turns of conductor of heat a heat insulator.  Due to the high temperature resistance, brazing under the chip will slowly oxidize anr / or crystallize and develop cracks and inclusions of oxide.  The only solution in addition to buying a new card of mother is reinvest with a heat gun, or using a special station of redistribution and the improvement of heat transfer to the heatsink.

Here's what the complete repair consists of:

-Disassemble the laptop according to the instructions in the maintenance manual; Make sure that keep track of where each screw came from

-Remove the heat sink fan and clean the end inside of the metal fins (simply by blowing canned air will not work)

-cut a ~ 1 mm of thickness copper thick to the exact dimensions of the cushion gel covering the ATI Radeon chip and ensure its two surfaces are clear of any oxide

-Clean the CPU and the Radeon perfectly cooling surfaces using 92% isopropyl alcohol; in a similar way to wipe the corresponding surfaces of the shiny heatsink

-dissolve welding flow or Rosin in a few mL of 92% + isopropanol

-pour a few drops of this solution of rosin under the chip Radeon on all 4 sides; Rosin ensures that reinvest the chip will recreate connections free of oxide with the main card; use a pipette or a pair of tweezers for this and not to spill the solution outside the area of interest

-make a mask cardboard lined with aluminum for the entire main Board having a place of opening in the Center exactly as big as the Radeon chip; Make sure that the coating of aluminum foil extends to the lower part of the mask through the operning square to protect the card against high temperatures. use this youtube video as a guide (minute 06:50)

-heat gun to regular heat on 'Medium' (or 'Low' if only two power settings); taking the mask in place immediately on top of the Radeon chip using a tool metal long (so you do not burn your fingers), slowly heat by lowering the gun hot air for the duration of a minute

-maintain the hot graphics chip for about 30 seconds into the air gun hot about 1-2 inches above the chip. Make sure that the mask with double foil is aligned with the chip to avoid burning its below or other components of the motherboard; consider wearing a thermal glove or leather on the hand that holds the mask down with this tool metal long

-slowly raise the heat gun on the time of ~ 30 seconds and then remove the mask and let the chip and the main map to cool for about 1-2 minutes

-It is best to test repair before reassembly of the computer; to do this, connect the power button, display, cooling fan, a single chip of RAM and a charged battery to the main card and turn on the laptop the bone bare; See the HP logo on the screen for a success to reinvest

-use of money from high-quality thermal compound (for example, Arctic Silver 5) and coat the surfaces of cooling of the CPU and Radeon chip, as well as the corresponding surfaces on the heatsink of heat and the puck in copper, with one layer, thin and uniform; Wipe all spilled; Place the wedge of copper on the graphics chip and carefully assemble the heat sink; don't forget to plug the fan on the main card

-Finally, back up the phone by following the steps for disassembly in reverse order; do not mix the screws, like using a long screw where it was not may cause a short circuit or cracks in the main map

-Use of SpeedFan to monitor the performance of you cooling system in the processor; periodically blow out or spend vacuuming of dust between the cooling fins.

    Good luck to lovers!

  • Satellite Pro L10 will not start - the LED blinks

I have a pro l10 phone which, after sutting down as battery not return to life. All I get is 8 flashes on battery led when the button is pressed. It's the same area only, battery only or both.

    It sounds bad
Generally, the laptop LED flashes as there might be a hardware malfunction.
The LED provide a microcode and the technician can read this code.
A common user is not able to read. OK maybe you can read it, but you will not find any description about the meaning of the code.
That is why it s a good idea to contact the technician in your country

But as a first step, try this:
Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait 20 - 30 minutes and then plug in the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

  • Laptop will not start light caps and seeing flashing Num

My Ts2-1375dx does not start after I have stop and he turned his back. I get the cap & num lock lights will blink once. I remove the power cord, battery and devices all connected, press and hold the button on to 30 seconds, reconnect power and then try to start again. Although it works (perhaps after tests 1-3) I think not that this is the way you should have to start the computer. I also see a lot of the same problem with the solution is the method I use. WHY IS THERE NO PERMANT SOLUTION?

RESOLVED: I have disassembled the computer, removed from motherboard and heated the motherboard with a dryer of hair, concentrating on the CPU, gpu & Southbridge chips one by one. I warmed up each chip and pushed the chip socket to reinstall and now it works without error.

I now use a portable fan under the laptop to try to keep cooler so that it will not happen.

Any advice on a solution?   I need to get this computer work as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Ben River

I ordered the Dell XP disc and did the re-install. It works fine now. The Dell technical support had me do some updates on the web as well. I have not had problems since. What happened with the automatic updates completely wiped out my operating system. At least I don't have to buy a new computer.

If nothing else works, try reinstalling your operating system. It worked for me.

  • HP HDX 16 (model X 16-1360 EV) cannot start, and led (CAPS & NUM Lock) light flashes once.

    Hello

    I own a HP HDX 16.

The laptop model is X 16-1360 EV (product number: NW746EA #B1A) and it has Windows 7 64 - bit installed on it.

Since yesterday it will not start and I get the error code flashing led "Failure CPU" (1 flashes each sequence, every 2-3 seconds) and nothing appears on the screen, he died.

Last week, it wouldn't boot at all, no lights no all of the screen system was dead. I replaced the AC adapter and it starts normally. I worked with her for 2-3 days, and it worked perfectly, until the above has happened. Any information about how I can fix this would be appreciated. I have no device connected on the laptop.

I'm adept at dismantling and reassembling, and I did it several times to clean accumulations of dust and dirt that prevents good cooling and caused stops due to overheat. I checked the various modules of RAM from another laptop HP just to see if it was a memory problem, but still the same thing occurred.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Re: Satellite L300-1AS will not start

    Hi all

Now my L300 will not start not (windows (Vista).
It shows a blue screen saying that windows has been shut down and to check the installation of new hardware or software.
There is no new hardware or software. He suggested to disable the bios memory options (I don't know how to do this) and suggests to start in safe mode to remove or disable components.

The laptop does NOT start in any mode not to mention safe mode, repair mode that brings back me to the blue screen as described.
I bought a Toshiba Recovery disk (a single disc happened?) that begins its process then two locks of "select a language to move forward" or detects an error and request I have "press any key to continue' what I'm doing, it then displays X:\windows\system32 > with the cursor flashing at the end of > and does nothing more , its been like that for 5 hours now... I'm supposed to type something in or I am looking at a new hard drive?

Suggestions for a greatly appreciated numpty (outside to let computers alone numpty you of course!)

    Thanks

    Colin

    Hello

Yes, the recovery disc's one disc it s DVD ;)

    Return to be issued;
I think that it s material related since the recovery disk should work for sure.
The blinking cursor can be related to a faulty memory or HARD drive.
    Both should be checked.

You could remove a memory module and might try to power the device using a single memory module in a slot.
Of course, the best would be a use of two new modules

The HARD drive can be checked using a tool called Drive Fitness Test (it of free use google to find it)

  • Pavilion ID46 g6 will not start

    Product: Pavillion g6 ID46

    [Edited by Moderator] Serial No.

    Product # A6Z74UA #ABA

OP sys: Windows 7 Home Prem OA

Pavillion G6 my husband will not start. What happened: returned to the computer after being away for a while, shook the wake up the mouse and the screen «has exploded in many colors and motion pixels» Screen went black, then a screen "do you want to start in safe mode" popped up. He tried a start-up without danger, but he failed and gave him a Bios Application error 501. He tried to restart the computer, but it crashes on the 'Starting Windows' screen with 4 color icon.

    I have:

Removed the battery and tried to restart. Not good.

Has taken the hard disk and and reinstalled it. Ditto.

Tried to boot mode safe, before and after the following below. "Loading files" still stuck on Windows\System32\drivers\CLASSPNP. SYS

Burned and ran a repair disc. Took 4 hours and the program ran at the end when I was asked to reboot. Computer hooked on "Starting Windows" screen. (I left this screen function for more than 5 hours without this change.)

Ran the program System Repair twice, same results.

Start of Tests ran. After self-test of the main hard drive, hard drive SMART and verification Test of memory system (passed 100%)

Tried to restore the BIOS using Windows + B and power with several attempts. Button Power LED stays on, about 20 seconds later a small LED on the "caps lock" key flashes white twice. Black screen and nothing happens after 5 minutes. He raised his eyes and 2 flashes is supposed to be the corruption of the BIOS.

Error log lists these: quick 03F0 303, 501 error and error of hard disk 1.

I have a lot of intelligence of the computer, so appreciate any help you can give, especially if assistance is simple and easy to follow terms.

    Mahalo in advance!

Well, nothing worked and I did not attempt to remove the HD and turn it on again. Husband returned to a comp sci student who managed to get some info on the HD, but said that the HD was shot.

Good thing is that I got a new Asus laptop and put my old computer to my dear husband. So, I guess that the problem is solved!  Thanks for your help.

  • Pavilion a6327uk will not start. Light output at the rear is enabled, all the work of 3 fans, but does not start.

I have a Pavillion equipped a6327uk for vista 32 bit. I had similar problems before and remove all cables, hold the button to boot without the power connected, reconnect the and then turn on solves the problem. I suffered a blue screen, where I was told the computer was stop and spills of memory. Then I rebooted the computer froze and since then it will not start. I led on the power supply/process button cable about 30 times more than three days without success. The computer does not go to the HP logo screen, it just stops. Can anyone help with further action please.

It could be almost anything that prevents your computer from starting to start to eliminate things.  If the computer under warranty?  If this is not the case, unplug everything including the power cord from your computer. Unplug the keyboard, monitor, mouse, readers flash and all other connected outside of the machine. Open the unit and unplug all the devices connected to the power supply except the motherboard.  Disconnect the hard drive cable and power supply data connection, disconnect the connection cable and power supply of the CD/DVD data, disconnect any drive card reader or floppy drive.  Therefore remains connected to the power supply should be taking 20/24 pin to the motherboard and 4 or 8 pin 12V for the cpu power cable.  Remove all cards that may be in the slots, as the video card, modem, network card (if they are not built in to edge of devices.) Just the cards that can be inserted into the slots.  Make sure all items are away from the computer and cannot cause a short circuit when you use power. Look at the motherboard and see if the capacitors were bulged or rounded top and maybe even a brown substance leaking from the top.  Check the video card as well for the same and a blocked fan who may have been not turn.  Test the power supply with a volt/ohm meter if you have one. If this is not the case, turn on the power and see if the fans are running and you get beeps.  If this isn't the case, hold the power button for about 5 seconds until the machine turns off.  Try only a chunk of memory at a time and in each of the slots.  If it starts to act normally, it is probably food.  If the sounds seem normal, unplug the power cable and install one at a time from the video card and connect the monitor to it. Plug the power cable from back in and start the machine.  If you have a video, keep disconnect power, adding another device such as the keyboard and the mouse until you arrive finally to your hard drive.  Do your last hard drive because there all your important data on it and you do not want to expose to all this test.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-151, which does not start.

A batery 11 times blink when I press the a/c power and nothing happens.
Before that, I pressed too many keys f1 - f12 because it has stopped responding and a blue screen (memory error in the kernel) appeared.

    I tried:
out/HDD, memory slot, battery and tried also reset with the AC button pressed without the battery.
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

    Best regards

As you know on this virtual path is not easy to say what the problem is here, but after reading your ad, I think there must be a problem with electronic control gear. It is placed on the motherboard.

Problem is that work around is quite limited and I can see what you have already tried all the logical steps to check if computer laptop will be able to start on a path.

I'm afraid it is worth noting that you can do except to communicate with the service of Toshiba and ask help from m.

  • L775-11N satellite will not start

    Hello

I bought a L775 almost a year ago, but today it has stopped booting. It freezes at the screen of the BIOS (Toshiba logo).
No HDD LED activity, but all the others are fine.

I think that the HARD drive is defective, as I traded with my portable Linux and it works.

However, (a Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS) HARD drive works on another computer and even on Linux with the Toshiba (on an external HARD drive enclosure). He has some bad sectors (INTELLIGENT default), but it works as it should.

I tried to clean the CMOS memory, wipe the HARD drive (using GParted), but nothing.

    Any ideas?

I think it fails because of the CHIP, as the BIOS will not start on this HARD drive because of the errors, but I'm not sure. I tried to update the BIOS (I think that I've upgraded to 1.90 but there is a 2.0 release), but looks like it is a Windows software only.

    Thanks for your replies

EDIT: I can boot the disk when it is inside a USB enclosure.

    Hello

I don t think that this question is related to the failure of HARD drive.
Even if the HARD drive is faulty, the laptop must pass the POST (power self test) properly but it doesn t it freezes to the Toshiba start screen and this means that the POST has not been passed

I think you should check the RAM. A faulty RAM can cause this kind of problem
Otherwise, it could be a serious problem with the motherboard.

  • Satellite A105-S4164 - will not start only white screen

    Hi all
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A105-S4164 that will not start.

I thought that maybe there is a problem with the battery. I took out the battery and then plugged the laptop to the power outlet, makes no difference. The blue lights in the front of the laptop, lights, but I hear no noise from the motherboard or the fan. The laptop is bought in July 2006 and it is out of warranty.
All I see is a white screen.

My guess is that the motherboard must be replaced. I have also had kept with Symantic anti-virus and windows updates XP before April 1, 2009.

    Thank you for your comments.

    Seyed

You can see an image on an external monitor?

Well, I think that in this case the laptop must be verified by the technician for laptop. You should contact an ASP and ask for help. It would be the best way because the technician can be sure what parts are defective.
