UltraBay for my E530?

Hello!

My E530 has a SSD(128Gb) hard drive, which has reached its capacity.

To add a space more simple I thought to replace the additional optical drive with a hard drive.

The problem is that I can't know if my E530 has the opportunity of this configuration or not.

Tried to search the web, but what I will meet with conflicting information, it seems.

Easy tips to discover the? When I flip the phone upside down, there is no locking mechanism visible under the optical drive area.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

  • LENOVO Y500 CADDY FOR SSD

I WANT TO INSTALL THE SSD IN LENOVO Y500. FOR THIS I NEED SSD CADDY. AS I AM IN INDIA, I AM UNABLE TO FIND IT ANYWHERE. PLEASE SOMEONE PLACE A LINK WHERE I CAN FIND IN INDIA. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I SHOULD INSTALL SSD IN THE ULTRABAY SLOT OR HARD DRIVE IN THE ULTRABAY FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE HOUSING.

    Hi arshi_poudel,

    Welcome to the community,

I would recommend you search on sites like eBay and others, you should be able to locate one without delay.

In accordance with the recommendation, although a SSD will always be the first choice.

  • Upgrade to SSD (for OS) T430i

    Hello!

I read a lot of discussion about adding an SSD to a ThinkPad, and now I intend to do the same thing.

My only problem is that almost everyone recommend to replace the disc main HARD (containing the preinstalled operating system and recovery partition) with the SSD (of course in this case, the main HARD disk goes to a Ultrabay HDD caddy).

But I don't see any serious reasons to do this, except loss of flexibility of the Ultrabay.

It's not much easier to place the SSD drive in the Ultrabay caddy, which has no moving parts, so the lack of rubber rails won't matter? Then, I simply change the boot order to boot from SSD.

The question in this case, is the my bad idea (mentioned above)? So OK, I'm not an optical device, but I have an external DVD-rom, so this isn't a real problem. Are other disadvantages?

    Thanks for your response!

Both methods work very well. It's actually a little easier to use Ultrabay for the SSD because many of the new computers mobile readers use 7mm and 7mm SSD are not as common. The downside is that you will not be able to eject your disc of data and move it to use elsewhere... But yes, in both directions. I tried both and there is no problem.

  • What SSD for T440p (2014)?

    Hey guys,.

I have a few question and would be grateful if someone could help out me.

    (1) I bought a ThinkPad T440p and want to update with a 500 GB SSD HARD drive. When you purchase the SSD drive, are there compatibility aspects? I am looking to buy Intel SSD 530 (https://www.mimovrste.com/diski/intel-25-ssd-530-480gb-sataiii-ssdsc2bw480a401).

    (2) to install the SSD drive, should I change something in the BIOS?

    (3) where can I buy an original ultrabay for this model (I want to keep the 500 GB HDD as my 2nd drive)? I see a few options alternative on eBay and Amazon, but I wish I had the original, so the performance and the quality will be OK.

    Thank you!

  • The T440p is compatible with the Ultrabay Battery?

The title issue. I want to know if the T440p is compatible with the ultrabay battery. I don't have any use for the optical drive, and I know that the HARD ultrabay drive caddy is terrible, so I figure that I can use as well make this extra space.

If this isn't the case, well fine, it's a shame, kind of pointless to have such a notebook thick with such a small battery.

There is no Bay ultrabay for ThinkPad T440p battery.

  • T410s Ultrabay problem - hard drive requires more power

I'm working on upgrading a T410s to give it as a gift to my girlfriend. I've already upgraded the ram and had to replace the screen and both went very well.

Now, I'm working on adding a second hard drive with the ultrabay. I'll keep the original SSD as my boot drive and you want to use the ultrabay for a normal HARD drive to increase the total space for her. It is a graphic design / photography major space would be nice.

I bought a 3rd party caddy and a WD Black 750 g 7200 RPM drive through Amazon. I followed the advice that I heard somewhere that you need to make a shortcut of the old EVD to access the new hard disk drive. When I installed the ultrabay and booted up, the computer could not access E:. Nothing happened.

I heard somewhere else ultrabay housing could use only 5 units of power (I don't know if it was watts or volts) and therefore the WD black drive series, I got is likely to need more power to operate (9-12 units). This noise to anyone who has installed a ultrabay correct? Maybe at the time where the T410s first came out, most hard drives use more than 5 units?

    Any recommendations? Thank you!

I don't know what are the units of power, and I never heard of the the ultrabay on a T410s not giving a hard drive of all the power he needs. I must admit that I am very skeptical about the claim that you read.

Perhaps the drive has not been initialized because it's new? If you are on Windows 7, click the Start button and type "create and format" in the search bar. You should see the drive it so that it can be initialized. Another way to get there is by going to control panel > administrative tools > computer management > disk management.

  • W700 for editing

    Hi all!

I'm ready to update my HDD W700 stock (160BG 7, 200rpm) with something faster. I was thinking to get a SSD for the system disk (operating system and programs) using the Ultrabay HDD caddy that I no longer use the DVD drive and set the W700 raid0 for editing with a few discs of 500 GB 7 200 RPM.

I was wondering if the connection used on housing ultrabay for the DVD player has the speed of transfer as well as for hard disks. anyone has any experience setting up 3 hard disks on the W700?

An SSD in the Ultrabay W700 housing is able to operate in mode SATA 300.

  • ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay fit III 43N3412 for T61

Anyone know if this adapter works for T61?

So far I couldn't find this "40Y8725 ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter" on the site that says work for T61.  But I thought Ultrabay options are supposed to be interchangeable? I hope that this is the case.

I prefer to buy the newer model if it is compatible for the T61.

It's one of the T61. Ultrabay slim housing uses a PATA connectio to the motherboard of the laptop, so the adapter you buy contains a SATA to PATA chip to allow you to use a SATA hard drive.

While the new thinkpads, T400, T500, R400, R500, X 200, W500 all use a SATA connection on the motherboard of the laptop, so the device ultrabay for previous machines are not physically compatible. This move is due to the need to allow full support SATAII.

  • E530 Lenovo. The graphics-upgradeoption GT635M use the mSATA slot?

    Hello community,

When I chose the upgradeoptions for the E530 I'll buy something confuses me. The graphics card has been described as WWAN and capable mSATA. The question is, the graphics card uses the slot mSATA? It would be a shame, because I wanted to build in an ssd. I contacted my local support and they told me, he would. On the other hand... they were absolutely sure that the Intel HD IGP use the mSATA-slot, that would be... strange...

So.Has anyone of you you have experience with the GT635M in the E530?

Oh, and in the store there are two different E530. One with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and the other with the HD screen + with a resolution of 1600 x 900. Why Lenovo does not heat wave-red and blue Artic cover version of 1366 x 768 and more importantly for me, why it does not allow coverage of midnight-black on the version 1600 x 900? They're both the same size! And I think that its importance for the cover of the laptop what resolution got the screen. Is it possible to change the lid without breach of the warranty or changing the order?

(It has not been sent or built still)

Thanks for your replies in advance.

(ps: in English is not my native language, I want to apologize a writing /-spelling in the text )

about the cover of the screen, I'm not too sure. But I had asked this question for some clients Australian just now, the response I got from Lenovo was that it was the configuration of configuration that they possessed, that they could not change their system.

My theory is that Lenovo has limited display 1600 x 900 coverage option in order to simplify the system of inventory they had. As the upper display resolution would be selected only by a small group of customers.
