Unable to connect satellite P10 - 873 to 802.11 Wlan N Router

I can't get my P10 873 to work with my 802.11n router.
The current Protocol inside this laptop's 802.11 g.

In my view, there is a way to reconfigure the settings, but my knowledge is lacking in this area.
Everybody out there is able to offer advice, or do I need a new laptop computer?

Hello

You can't connect the laptop via a WLAN router 802.11 N because the card wifi does not support this standard WLan!

As you mentioned the wireless network adapter supports 802.11 G and it's different from 802.11 N

Therefore, change the Wlan standard in the configuration of the router for 802.11 G in order to connect to the laptop wireless.

See you soon

    Hi all

I have a laptop Satellite P10 873. I just bought a Netgear DG834GT wireless modem/router and can not get completely connected to the internet via Tiscali (ISP).
The problem manifests itself in what I can connect to the router and can even ping various sites on the net. But trying to connect to a site using MSIE I just get "unable to connect" rejection page
In addition, using the CMD prompt, tempting a Telnet session to a web site on port 80 is rejected for example "80 www.bt.com.
I put all the securities to a minimum without effect.
I have another laptop that connects and works perfectly with the Netgear/Ticali Installer. I also identically configured MSIE on both machines without success.

Anyone has any ideas what could be the cause?

    Thanks Mike

    Hello

Well, do you have Devil WLan configurations?
If you use the Windows settings you must activate it in the WLAN properties and if you are using a customer this option should be disabled.
Also, check if the windows firewall is disabled. This option please the good state of market for the wireless card
Sorry, I put t have other ideas.

Satellite P10 is old enough laptop model. I have very good experiences with P20. It's almost the same laptop, but a bit bigger. A friend of mine uses P10 for the job and we have installed WXP Pro using all the tricks of the Toshiba support page. The OS is installed two years ago, and the sound still works.

If you can not get this to work, I recommend you remove all the important data for the D partition or save on an external device and make the clean OS install. It will be interesting to see if the problem persists.

By the way: is a connected to your laptop satellite external game controller?
An interesting solution, I found here.

  • ATI Radeon Mobility Core/memory clock speeds - Satellite P10 873

I have a portable Satellite P10 873 using 64 MB Radeon 9700 Mobility GPU, the base clock is set at 400 and 200 memory. The chip must be run to 450/260 so if anyone from Toshiba is reading this can you tell me if the cooling of the Gpu is sufficient for these speeds (judging by the traces of burning on my thighs could well be unlikely)?

Is also the 64 MB expandable to 128 MB of VRAM?

    Hi Carmel

First of all the graphics card is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard.
The graphics card has no own cooling system. Only the CPU has a cooling fan.

Toshiba recommends to use the graphic driver Toshiba because the drivers are changed and support an overheating protection. In this case the graphics driver controls the heat produced by the graphics card.
In this case, it s undesirable to overclock the graphics card. If you want to overclock something so do it at your own RISK

  • Unable to connect satellite C55 - A WLAN

Hi, I am unable to connect to my WIFI.

My router has been zapped in recent storms and talktalk sent me a replacement. While setting up, I decided to change the ssid and the psk.

The new router but not my Satellite C55A will connect other devices in our home (laptop, desktop and Tablet). He can see the new ssid but when I enter the psk it gives the message "unable to connect to this network. I have win 8.1 ar956x, driver atheros wireless network adapter is 10.0.0.263.

    Any suggestions?

It is really strange. Normally it should not be a problem. When the WIFI network is detected, all you need to do is put the correct password.
Have you checked all the WLAN settings on your machine?

Is there a possibility to test with another WLAN from your friend, just to see if the problem is the same?

  • Satellite P10 873: power supply and CPU Overload

    I have the laptop of P10 - 873 for 4 months.
The problem is that it turns off when it is connected to an electrical outlet.
I can only work using the battery. When the battery goes out I normally load (with the laptop turned off) and then I use the notebook only with the battery again.
If I connect it to AC power turns off after 3 minutes!

I checked the CPU usage when connected to the AC and it seems that the CPU is too important (from 65 to 98% - where it stops!) without running applications other than the process required for the laptop to operate.

I sent the laptop to TOSHIBA and they returned saying that they have updated the BIOS.
Unfortunately, the problem was not fixed!

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Hello christina123.

Sylvain is right. It is not a problem with the bios.
I think it's a problem with the motherboard.

  • Satellite P10 722: what Mini-PCI WLAN can I integrated?

    Hello

I have a Satellite P10 722. It seems to be ready wireless (it has an LED to show the WLAN activity). I would use an internal Mini-PCI card in it. Ideally, it would be a b/g card.

Anyone know what model/part number Mini-PCI card will work with this laptop.
She is not in the list of compatibility of the any of the maps on this page (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/options_and_accessories_search.jsp?z=16&service=UK & selOptionCategory = 4696)

    Thanks for your help,
    Shane

    Hello Shane

Sorry, but this kind of information can give you just the authorized service partner. I don't know if the P10 722 is ready WLAN but you can check only. In the lower corner of the unit, you will find WiFi coverage. Remove it carefully and check if there are two antenna WLAN (black and white) cables. If so, the device is definitely ready WLAN.

Contact the Service partner and ask them for you to adapt to your model of laptop. As far as I know, the consultation is free.

Just for info. One of my friends has P10 with WLAN (802 11b Agere) card.

  • Satellite P10 - 873 freezing randomly

    Hi all

I have a P10 and several times per day on average the machine seems to freeze in Windows XP for 5-10 seconds. During this time you cannot move the mouse or use the keyboard. Often during this time the fan comes into play at its highest level, but the strange thing is it is not always do it when the fan runs at the highest setting.

The machine made the day 1 and now if she was 8 months old.

It is not a spyware or virus problem, I use all of the latest drivers and tried to reinstall the software preinstalled without success.

Anyone else have this problem or knows how to solve this problem.

I lost a little confidence in Toshibas, my first was faulty and had to go back and am now beginning to regret not trying to fix this soon I am the new replacement, at that time did not really want to go through the entire process of sending another laptop, so decided to live with it.

    Thank you

    Hello

The fact that fans sometimes go into action during these temporary freezes suggests that intense CPU activity takes place during this period. Fan activity is almost always related to the activity of the UC somehow. Do you have any process or scheduled for execution of routine tasks? I think that Windows Update will check for updates regularly as will of the available ad ware and spyware products =. You can also have a running anti-virus software that seeks to control internet updates available.

You don't say if you laptop is connected permanently to the internet, but it is possible that some process attempts to locate a suitable COM port and is causing the rest of your laptop to hang until it times out.

It may well be a case of trial and error to locate the offending process because there will be many background processes present in XP

  • Unable to connect satellite Pro 6000 network

I would appreciate help on this. We have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000, which we assumed is active wireless. But when you turn on the wireless switch, there is no answer and the laptop will not come to look for me or any other network.

I was able to connect using a USB wireless adapter, but it seems a shame not to use the capacity of the machine itself. Any suggestions? And I'm just thinking wireless is standard with this model. If not what can I do about it?

    Hello

Please check in Device Manager if the WLAN card is listed under network adapters. As far as I know the WLAN card for this camera is optional and it is not standard.

  • Annoying beep of Satellite P10 873

Hi, im this annoying beep intermittently from my toshiba, ive had more than 3 years and over the last 3 months or so this started beep to sound.

It looks like a number being pressed on a pad of phone, very loud sound and the most annoying numbering and occurs randomly.

Some days I don't hear it at all.
I searched on through all the settings for modems, and system sounds.

Control Panel and programs to no result and ive heard when nothing is connected to the pc to avoid externel gadgets

Also I searched this problem a few times and there is no apparent answer, my supermulti drive cannot read CD more but it can burn, it is said that every cd I put in that is a blank CD - r, it reads the dvd but cannot burn DVDs and it will not read ram dvd more all solutions outside a new drive?

It looks like a serious hardware issue... you spilled some liquid top? Such a sound comes from a key that is pressed constantly, this may also occur when keys are stuck because of some dirt in the keyboard or liquid that has dried and is today a sort of 'super-key-glue' that allows keys get stuck.

Did you notice that some keys are "suspended"?
Regarding your disk: have you ever tried a few updated firmware? And this is surely more interesting: what programs burning or cd player for the applications you have installed?

    welcome them

  • SD slot no longer works on my Satellite P10 873

    Hello.

Tried to update the driver for the SD slot to read my 2 GB card and now it won't even read a 128 MB card correctly. The directory structure looks ok but Explorer crashes just with IO errors.

Tried uninstall the SDA controller driver and install again but not look (although he says it's working properly).

Tried to install the driver from the download section, but under IDE channels v2.04 SD memory card, the Device Manager indicates that it could not start (code 10) although I don't remember be installed before anyway. Just the controller driver is not enough?

I hope someone can give me some clue!

    TIA

The controller driver SD memory must be installed first.
After the SD - mem controller driver is installed, you can install the SD memory card driver.
In my view, the error code 10 appears because you tried to install the memory card driver, but the driver control host has not been installed.

On the Toshiba page I found only a SD for W2k, not WinXP host controller.
How have you used the card with Windows XP before the update of the host controller?

Format you the SD card with another device?
Have you tried to format the card 128 MB with SD card formatting utility?
    Check it!

If this does not help, you can try to remove the control from the SD card from the Device Manager.
Then restart the device and try to reinstall the driver of original host control.
Control another laptop drivers for driver control compatible host SD for WinXP

    Hello

I have a hp pavilion computer model with windows vista premium OS hom dv9910us.  I have a wireless modem/router xfinity gateway device.  I got it somewhere else and it worked using verizon with a router and a separate modem.  I also tried a location xfinity with a router and a separate modem and it worked.  I had a separate wireless adapter and installed and disabled the atheros ar5007 adapter in Device Manager.  This 2011 atheros adapter will work with this model computer using the operating system windows vista Home premium.  If so, could I leave the disabled ar5007 and install the 2011 to make sure it's ok before you uninstall the ar5007.  I'm really a novice and stumbling just my way through it.  Any help is appreciated.

    Hello:

You must enable the atheros wireless card and install this driver.  It has no effect on the other you use.

Then turn the PC off, remove the usb adapter, reboot and see if you can connect via the atheros card.
