I tried to use headphones too. I checked Device Manager and my Creative Vibra 128 sound card is enabled and working.   It would be possible that the reason that your registry database seems to zero after the reboot is your antiviral is preventing to be changed when you update your drivers.  but this is only an idea unproven, but a possibility.

  in all cases, try to do a restore point for today / now.  This will take a snapshot of the current state of the system.

  1-make sure you have intel network driver I installed your windows it pc. Download (on any other pc and transfer and install in it) and install it in your pc respective windows 8.
