Unable to get the fingerprint reader to log on to Windows.

Fingerprints fingerprint driver v.5.9.4

Have the same settings on the driver as in my old T61p...

I am able to use the player to log in to the software it self, but just does not work when you try to logon Windows...

What can be the problem here?

SR

Have you checked the biometrics Windows settings? A bunch of our laptops (Windows 7) did the same thing and all we had to do was check the box "allow the user to log on to the domain using biometric data.

I don't know what has changed: it's a Windows set, not a Thinkvantage. Maybe the Thinkvantage Fingerprint Software uncheck this box when the last update is installed?

  • Portege R830: don't seem to be able to get the fingerprint reader to work

    HI - need help.

    I have a Toshiba R830 I got "downgrade" to Windows 7 32 bit version pre-installed 64-bit. Long story - but it's the software compatibility.

Despite the download and the installation of what I think is all the relvant 32 drivers - I don't seem to be able to get the fingerprint reader to work.

I downloaded and installed the software fp-sw-201103311304 Tosh - chilled out and tried to install it.

It's actually hard to know if it is installed! I get a window telling me it will extract the file in a directory C:\temp and tells me at the same time that 'tinstallwb.exe' will start once the extraction is complete.

It seems to extract - but I do not see that the installation is happening.

Subsequently it is has that nothing listed in the title of the programs - and nothing "launches."

In Device Manager - I can't see anything that is listed as "fingerprint reader" under security features - the list is TPM 1.2. Not actually sure that is nothing to do with the fingerprint reader - well I've enabled and then disabled via the BIOS.

    Am I missing something?
Could the reader [which I have not used since the new - even if it's only 8 weeks] have stopped working?

Would be very grateful for pointers.

Try to start the installation manually. On the desktop create a folder unpack and after doing the beginning downloaded exe. Extract the files to the folder unpack and disable command run after extraction.

When files are checked almost open and Toshiba archive extracted file extractor. You will find setup.exe.
Try please to start it manually.

I have upgraded xp to win 7, as we will have to do, but can't get the fingerprint reader to work. It appears in the devices that there is one on the machine. I downloaded the drivers for Vista, but they got nowhere.  Read in many places as Vista drivers will work but I seem to need more than that. Any clue?  Thank you!!!

    Hello:

Yes, for Vista fingerprint reader driver is the only one available, but you must install the software HP protect Manager security tools for Windows 7 from the model which succeeded the nc6400, who was the 6910p.

  • Windows 7 can not get the fingerprint reader to show

I have a T500 I removed Vista and installed Windows 7.   But now I can't the fingerprint reader will be displayed at sign in.   I think that I have installed the driver, but it does not appear.   I went into Device Manager and it seems to be responsible.   Any ideas?

You need not fingerprint software from Lenovo. It's just another program that is running in the background.

Windows 7 has all the functions that the software Lenovo offers. Whether you use it or not, it's up to you.

in any case, to get the fingerprint logon to work, you must go into control panel > biometrics. Then you need to check "Allow connections to fingerprints" (or something of the sort). It will ask you to register to use fingers.

The next time you start your computer/log, you will be asked to use your fingerprint to log. It works exactly as it would if the Lenovo program was there (with the sole exception of the sliding-finger-to-boot-computer functionality).

  • Pavilion dv7 6051ea: how to get the fingerprint reader works on Windows 10

Just upgraded to Windows 7 Pro for Windows 10 Pro. The fingerprintreader has stopped working. I find the possibility to set up, but the installation is grayed out as long as no driver available. Can't find one on any forum support? Anyone else having this problem and sorted it please?

On August 11. I've been running Windows 10 updates on a daily basis since the upgrade and now after a reboot of the fingerprint reader has started working? and remembered my impression as well. I guess that Microsoft dropped in a fix for this (which works for me) then maybe something to try?

  • EliteBook 8460p: using the fingerprint reader to log on Windows 10.

I recently picked up this 2nd hand computer laptop for use at home. I was happy to find that it has built in fingerprint reader that will keep my children on my account. This is recognised by Windows 10 on the device as a biometric device manager / Validity Sensor. However, I have no options to activate Windows Hello on my account and found nothing on the Windows support on with Microsoft to respond to my problem. The supplied fingerprint reader will get an updated driver that gets 10 Windows to recognize as supported by Windows Hello? Is it already work? Do I need additional software that the laptop was bought only with its OEM Windows 7 Pro OS installed and nothing else. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Re: Tecra Z40, Win 8.1 - malfunction of the fingerprint reader

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM:

My Tecra Z40 arrived with Win 8.1.
From the beginning I couldn't use the fingerprint utility.
When you access the utility won't happen for a while and then the error: "Could not connect to the fingerprint reader" has finally popped up.

I could also not use the actual construction of fingerprints 8.1 Win (error: this device has biometric devices is not suitable). (PS mind that this built in function is now integrated into the subway and no device biometric parameters are not now present in the control panel to 8.1 win!)

The problem has persisted despite the last fingerprint utility (which comes with the drivers) have been installed to win 8.1. 64-bit directly from the website of TOSHIBA and despite that a biometric device was still present in the Task Manager ("this device is working properly").

    SOLUTION:

After literally weeks of research (including getting help from the shop and service Toshiba), I could finally solve the problem.

I uninstalled the driver and the reader of fingerprints from the Device Manager (then only fingerprint reader drivers really disappear).
Then I cleaned the registry (I used CC cleaner software) (or install new wasn't a reason any).

Finally, I installed a Fingerprint Utility equivalent and the driver for Tecra Z50 (fp - sw - 20140605164020.zip) (which I expect to be using the exact same sensor)... and since then everything works fine.

I can now access the utility of fingerprinting and fingerprint log on in Windows.

    SUGGESTION OF CORRECTIVE MEASURES:

It seems the driver on Toshiba support website (I think for me it was the Poles) for my exact machine (made by TOSHIBA - detector.exe) is incorrect.
To make matters worse the driver does not communicate useful information on his miss - fit in the Task Manager! If I had to recalculate, in money, as long as I have and a whole lot of support persons had spent on it, there really meaning to improve this list of drivers!

(PS: one of the files in the same directory online regpatch has a virus (VIRUS A Yes) it has been recognized by Antivir!) -Toshiba, you can communicate with someone responsible for the Polish support site!)

    OUTSTANDING ISSUES:

No fingerprints, login is possible in Mozilla or Internet Explorer despite the appropriate plugins have been installed as well as the utility of fingerprints, where the web password option has been activated. (no suggestion seems to appear to reach the service fingerprints for the sites that require passwords, maybe that your service gets blocked by popup blocking browser protection?).

I'm really looking forward to this feature.
Make sure that the plugins work correctly with the latest browsers.

    Greetings

Hey thanks for this interesting thread and a detailed description.

  • Portege R400 - how to get the fingerprint device to HDD unlock

    Portege R400 model PPR40E-00901LEN

I've had this laptop since 2007 new (approximately). I put the BIOS and disk passwords HARD and the biometric to unlock the BIOS, HARD and Vista drive. It worked well until recently. Result of an incident when someone tried to crack into the machine, it unlocks is no longer the HARD drive

The attacker confessed to the use of BACKSPACE to work around the footprint digital, correctly guessed the password of BIOS and going on to make several attempts to enter the HDD password.

Now when I try to access the computer by using the fingerprint reader, it unlocks the BIOS ok, so he remembers clearly to me. However, it is not open HARD drive. Apparenlty the fact that 3 + failures to enter the master password disk HARD text forces text of this password and no biometric entry. At least, there seems to be something like that.

    My questions are

    (1) in these circumstances, the BIOS anterio-rite the biometric to forget the HARD drive password?

    (2) or is still piometric my disk HARD but the BIOS password feature is not asking him?

    (3) if 3 or something similar, so this password is always in the biometirc device, how to tell the device to provide this password?

Please note that I can't in the BIOS right now, because do not unlock the HARD drive prevents the POSITION to perform.

Of course, I know what I really need to do is type the HARD drive password. Unfortunately in about four years, I forgot it. I hope that I can get into the BIOS if I remove the HARD drive physically, but wonder if there is something else I should do first in order to avoid making things worse.

    Thanks to hope

  • Portege M700: Cannot use the fingerprint reader after update for Firefox 3

    Hey

I have a Toshiba Portege M700 Tablet and with the truesuite software on a fingerprint reader and password Bank plugin.

It's all working fine and dandy with firefox 2.
Then last night I went and updated for firefox 3 and now I can't log in to Web sites with the fingerprint reader.

No error messages, nothing. I can say that the truesuite or Bank password software is not detecting firefox 3. I've updated to the latest version that I could find, 2.0.2.0.

I found this thread by telling me the process of update of firefox it breaks and I should completely uninstall and reinstall firefox, which I did.
    That didn't fix it.

Then I completely uninstalled and reinstalled truesuite. That did not help either.
    Its still broken.

Anyone know a workaround or a way to fix this, or should I wait and see if there is an updated version of the password database? (I find it unlikely because this isn't really a standard program)

    Hello

I think that the new Firefox version is not fully tested and possibly it s not completely compatible with the 3rd party applications.
I remember the same problems with older versions of firefox. Finally, it has been resolved.

But why you don t use internet explore? As far as I know the fingerprint works without a problem

In any case if you want to continue to use the browser firefox 3 so I think that the only solution is to wait for an update.

  • HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV - is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader?

    I use a HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV 8.1 Windows.

This model came with a fingerprint reader in the lower left corner of the computer. Although this seems to be a nice feature, it is not one that I plan on using (I use LastPass to my passwords). I keep my Palm on the scanner that will bring to the top of the screen for HP SimplePass accidentally part traffic. This can come from the most inopportune moments, and it can become quite annoying always trying consciously avoid the fingerprint reader.

Is it possible to disable the fingerprint reader?

    Thank you.

    @DSWJoshua,

Thanks for posting. You can disable the fingerprint reader. For completeness, I'll give you steps to disable the driver itself and the biometric support, so you should not worry about this later.

To disable the driver, go to control panel, then Device Manager. Expand biometric devices. Right-click on the sensor of validity and uninstall it.

To disable biometric support, go to the Control Panel, biometric devices then. Uncheck allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints, and then save it.

  • Unable to get the Bluetooth Toshiba BT Stac Headset profile in collaboration with mic

    Hello.

I have problems with my Motorola HT 820 Stereo headset, the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack installed on Vista Home Premium 32 bit laptop.

I am unable to get the microphone to work at all, so can't use it for Skype / VOIP calls etc. Features such as the A2DP and AVRCP work very well, and I can listen to music via the media player without problems.

I read in a FAQ on this site, to make sure that I use the installation option custom rather than the quick installation when adding the device, but it seems to make no difference, am I missing a step here?

In the properties of the device Windows registry, I see the option listed for Bluetooth Mic, but even assigning as device by default does not work.

I know to plug my headphones on my desktop PC that uses the bluetooth stack Widdcom, can I use the headset/microphone function, but this battery seems to work differently, as I can select option headphones in the bluetooth settings, but I don't see such an interior option Toshiba stack - and I think that's the problem.

I've updated to the last stack of Toshiba on this website, but this did not help at all.

Here, any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I can't help you with that, but if I remember right here on the BT section that someone has already asked something similar. Please take a little time and see the BT section on this forum.

You can also visit the FAQ section on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
    Might find something there.

  • Configuration required to use the fingerprint reader

I have a dv6tQE delivered later this week and I'm looking into how to configure the fingerprint reader.  I'm interested the FR for projecting my fingerprint with the plethora of passwords that I now keep in a Word document hyperlink.  Too much memorize.  I'm not interested in the security feature that requires a logon or a fingerprint whenever I start my computer.  I usually push on the button and then perform several tasks to something else and come back to the computer, wait until it is ready to roll without the need for an additional activity on my part.

The User Guide PDF downloaded States in part:

"In order to use the fingerprint reader, you must configure a user account with a password on the computer. This account allows you to log on to your computer with a simple touch of the designated finger. Alternatively, you can use the fingerprint reader to fill in the password on Web sites and other programs that require a login. See using the fingerprint software for instructions. After you have created your identity from fingerprints, you can configure single sign-on... »

It will be necessary for me to set up a user account for my login or can I skip that part and use the NOF for passwords only?  In addition, there is a link to the FR software guide?

I would like to disable the fingerprint reader, because he keeps asking codes while I type on the keyboard. Could you please help me telling me how I can disable the fingerprint reader please?

    Thank you

    Anne-Els

Please follow the steps as indicated below to solve the problem

    Disable the biometric identifiers:

    Delete the biometric login option:

Control Panel > biometric devices > change biometric parameters

Uncheck the BOX "Allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints"

    Save the changes.

To remove the biometrics data for all users, click the option button (round) "off biometrics.

    Clear validity sensor driver:

Validity sensor driver controls the fingerprinter material.

SimplePass software manages the password database.

You can disable the device.  The fingerprinter work not long until the device remains disabled.

Control Panel > Device Manager > biometric devices > right-click on Validity Sensor > disable
