  I have a workstation xw6600 I used as my sandbox for ESXi from 4.0. So I decided it was time to become familiar with ESXi 5, so before starting to run our upgrade to ESXi 5 in all our servers I wanted to update my own sandbox. I tried first of all to make an update to 4.1 update 1 who does not like I special HP drivers installed, so I decided to make a brand new install ESXi 5 using VMware bootable CD. The installation seems to be successful, but when the supposed to reboot from the USB system I get the typical mistake of the BIOS indicates that no BONES were found "no disk system or disk error." ». For a year I've been running ESXi in this system without problems. I am currently starting from 4.1 update 1 from a USB, if I look that the problem was the installation process in my sandbox (after hours of troubleshooting and several creations of CD), so I did an installation in one of our server (DL360G7). Everything went find I could only start in ESXi 5 no problem (using the same CD I create above). I took this USB to my sandbox and tried to boot from it and still the same error. I can not even boot my laptop from the USB. Does anyone know what changes to the startup procedure in ESXi 5 compare to ESX 4.0?

  From my understanding, if you create a new 5.0 installation, then it will only start using UEFI.

  However, if you upgrade an ESXi in 5.0, it retains the original MBR boot.

  At present, we have two old machines (one proc, not more than 2 GB of ram on each machine) images of windows running for us (a total of three).  One is a domain controller (to 512 of ram), the other is subvsersion instance (768 ram) and finally a development server (IIS, SQL express 2005 - hosts to 1 GB of ram).  All will work perfectly, and we are very happy with them.

  However, the machines are in one of our offices.  We would like to put on smaller hardware that don't make much noise and stay away.  Looking around, the Dell Studio hybrid have as and processors dual core with 4 GB of ram.

  My question is, for our very small environment, we could install successfully and run ESXi on a hybrid of dell or even a laptop?

  Yes you can run laptop, but you do not need ESX for something that small.  Just install Windows and using VM Server.  This is the best solution.

Please run the chkdsk utility.  Unable to run chkdsk by using my computer or command prompt.  System message - cannot open volume for direct access or CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode.  Running fsutil dirty query c: Volume-c: is dirty message.  I also have experience from time to time a process loop at startup where the computer keeps turning off and then restarting.  Thank you

  Method 1:

  You can run the check disk by booting in safe mode and check if that helps. To start in safe mode follow the link given below.

  Once you start mode without fail, try and run the disk check and check errors.

  Method 2:

  If you are not able to run the check disk in safe mode, you will need to boot into the recovery console, and then run check say. To do this, you need the Windows XP installation disc. The enforcement procedure checks the disk in the recovery console.

  (a) Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer.
  Note: Click to select all of the options required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted to do so.

  (b) when the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Console history.
  Note: If you have a dual-boot or multiboot, select the installation that you want to access from Console history.

  (c) when you are prompted to do so, type theAdministrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just C:.

  (d) to historic Console command prompt, type the following then C::

  Chkdsk /r

  (e) allow to run INTACT until the completion

  (f) report any error

  I replaced my hard drive recently, and after you install the recovery disk, I am unable to run the window update (error code A 8024, 000). I replaced the hard drive of this computer before and used this disc of recovery before and never had this problem, I even tried to reinstall the drive recovery again and the problem persists. I also tried the solution posted on other peoples issues this using prompt command and it turns out unsuccessful. I also tried to install the Windows Update Agent, which is recommended by some, it starts to install and I get an error saying that it is impossible to install PowerShell.   Download the new technology Intel® Rapid storage (RAID) driver 11.6.0.1030 version

  This works.

  The Windows update error code appears after a hard drive replacement, and most providers have only this driver in version 9. XX or 10.xx.

  This driver 11 version solves the problem with windows Update error A 8024, 000.

  (have this error on 5 different machinetypes (Samsung, HP, Sony Vaio, etc.) and are all now resolved).

  This happens because you try to create a x 64 based installation drive of Windows from a PC running x 86 based Windows. x 86 Windows failed to install the correct version of the bootsect for the version of Windows that you are trying to install on USB drive. To address the issue, restart the process from a computer running x 64 Windows.

  Hey all, I just wanted to post the solution I came to. I found another thread which solved my problem (https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2397610), in particular the last post. It boils down to this line:

  "I used the tip above to add in the Panel / Java / Java / View / Runtime settings the value - Djava .net .preferIPv4Stack = true for my 2 JRE then saved and restarted my browser and suddenly he worked.*.

  It suddenly worked for me also. Good luck!

  Not sure where you get the number 4ms. Time to do a writing (~1.4 ms) is how much time it takes to write a little and conforms to these criteria.

  If it is uninstall it from Add / Remove programs.

  If it does not show then show updates is on top, use the method below.

  Click Start , type cmd.
  Now in the result of the research with right-click on cmd.exe and select run as administrator if you are not the administrator.
  Type regsvr32 /u "%programfiles%\Windows Desktop Search" and press enter

  You search old back, see if it works.

  The next time you do the Search 4.0 updates appears again.

  You can try it again if you wish.

  It sounds like you lost the file association for .exe files.

  It is a security program that comes with a Lexar USBjump reader.

  You can remove it from Control Panel > Add / Remove programs.  If you don't see anything about Lexar Secure II, useAutoruns to find where LxrAutorun or other Lexar software is started.  Uncheck the entries and restart.  Unchecking a box in Autoruns does not remove anything from your computer, however things start during the next reboot.  If you want to permanently delete the startup item, you can do so by selecting it and pressing the delete key.

  Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  When you try to run SFC this error message you get?  Also, when you start the command prompt you you sure to right click on the icon and run as administrator.   You have access to your XP CD?  If Yes, you can boot from the disk and go in the recovery and then console run SFC/scannow from there.
  If you are unable to run SFC, then you may need to do a repair of XP installation.  Here are the links that cover SFC and installation options.
