Unable to wake Windows 8 Pro of wakefulness with Remote Desktop

Separated from this thread.

"Allow this device to wake the computer" is grayed out and the only option is to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." and it is checked. I use Windows 8 Pro.

His driver and network adapter must be able to support remote activation.  In addition, functionality, if any, must be enabled on the network adapter.  You must be an administrator to change the configuration of the network adapter.  Also, BIOS of your computer (available during the boot process) must be configured to allow "Wake on LAN".  See my more detailed post from January 2013 for more information.

You can also try the following in the following order: (1) uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" - and see if the other options are then is more shaded. and then (2) check the box "allow this device to wake the computer"; and then the last step (3) check the box "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

I managed to use Remote Remote Desktop (to half way around the world) for inbound via my firewall access and wake my computer Windows Pro 8.1 and allow me to connect.  A Security Council, you can choose one port other than the default remote desktop (3389) to make it more difficult for pirates.

  • How to access Windows 8 PC on the Internet with remote desktop connection?

    Hello

Can someone tell me how to access Windows 8 PC on the Internet with remote desktop connection?

I'm good with the software and I have used many Microsoft software since the 1980s. So I like Microsoft products, but since they have outsourced their tech support, you can't support quality even if you pay for it. I followed all the instructions in the Windows 8 will help about DRC setting screens, but I can't connect unless I'm on the same home network. Here are the details:

I have a desktop PC with Windows 8 Pro and I have authorized the DRC. I tried two settings in system properties:

    1. Allow connections to this computer remotely.
    2. That allow the connection of computers running Office remotely with authentication NLA.

I also turned on both private and Public Windows Firewall settings > allow an App or feature through Windows Firewall.

I have installation then DRC to my laptop with Windows 8 (standard edition, not the Pro version). I have a DRC using the full name of the computer and other DRC using the static IP address for my ISP Desktop connection.

I use the user account administrator Windows for connections of DRC of the laptop.

I cannot get this to work on the Internet from a location outside my house with another ISP connection. The only way it works if I'm uncomfortable with the laptop using the same network home.

I called Dell tech support and it is always useless and just a more aggravating waste of an hour to talk to their support of technique outsourced in India (who barely even understand English) and then they hang up the phone as it was supposed to be disconnected. I also called Microsoft support and lost more than an hour to speak to their outsourced tech support in the Philippines (and as support of the India, they hang up or 'disconnect' when they cannot answer your question and they go account learn you more about Windows while they do). U.S. tech companies use AMERICANS more for their technical support so their customers can get people who actually care about doing a good job and can actually understand English?

So if someone who knows using Windows 8 for DRC on the Internet has some tips, then it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!!

P.S. If anyone is offended by my comments about the ugly, incompetent, stupid providing "technical support" in India or the Philippines - Nevermind! You go ahead and waste hours of your time talking to some Morón in these countries, who barely understands English and then 'disconnects' the call when they know that you realize that they are clueless and have all the answers.

Take a look at no - IP.com or dyndns.com, and then use your host.domain:3389 of no.-ip/dynDNS or run RelaVNc SErver that is running on port 5900 by default.  Server options allow you to change the port as well if necessary.

  • Problem with remote desktop in Windows 7 Home Premium

I have two laptops running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium.  I do a simple administration of a 2008 R2 remote server, for a friend and all of a sudden, remote desktop will not connect to the server on one of the laptops.

I checked all the settings, of course, and the problem is NLA.  I get the error message: requires NLA (Network Level Authentication) that your computer not only supports the remote computer that you are trying to connect to.

I thought it was strange that I never set the server to require NLA.  I know I should but anyway...  I checked that the server is in fact not the value require NLA, so this should not be preventing the connection.
Now, two laptops have DRC version 6.2.9200, but non-functioning LT said that NLA is not supported in the "information" window.  Two portable computers support Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0
Even if NLA is not required on the server, if it is set to the work of LT, why not at least try?  Even if it's just to eliminate a point of failure.  None of this is hard, right? Bad...
I went in the LT does not work to change the DRC to allow the NLA (System, remote control properties) However, there is nowhere where do...   There is an option to "Allow remote access" button and an "Advanced" button.  Under the "Advanced" button, there are two elements to control the limits of the use of remote assistance.  There is an option button to enable remote assistance and the other to set the amount of time that the remote computers can be connected.  Nothing to control NLA.   On the functioning LT, which has the same version of the DRC, IT IS A PLACE to CHANGE NLA.  I'm confused.  How the same version of DRC can have two different menus?
Just for fun, I tried even to DRC running in compatibility mode.  Nothing...
Is there a registry change that will allow me to activate it?  I do not always have access to the laptop works.  I need to bring both work.

Can I put two 8 G in the slots. Read some reviews say the software works and Windows 7 pro 64-bit can take up to 132 G RAM, if that was even possible. I run two internal drives. But with the addition of the cloud and running photoshop on cloud too much memory is used, slow down the computer. You want to go to 16. Everybody does and no problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

As mentioned previously, there are SEVERAL dv7t editions and special editions. We have dv7t-3000, 4000-dv7t... and it is very difficult to find the right plug. Please use the following link to find the product/model number:

Your machine could be the following:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & dlc = in & lc = in & product = 5292645 &

If so, the #4 on the following manual page it support 16 GB max:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & dlc = in & lc = in & product = 5292645 &

You can have 2 x 8 GB, no choice. Only a few portable computers that have 4 slots and supports up to 32 GB. No way on this earth at this time, you can find a laptop that supports the 132 Gb of RAM.

    Kind regards.

  • Install Windows 10 Pro lowered home (with no product key) after expenses.

Received my Lenovo ThinkPad 11th yesterday and after much research, I decided to do a clean install. It came with WIndows 10 Pro and I checked the settings (that I created my Windows account at the same time) and he said that it has been activated using Windows. According to the instructions of Microsoft (and various YouTube videos, I've looked), once a machine is activated, it would automatically update the product key, so no need to find.

That is the problem. I had installed 10 Windows on a USB key and the installation went well, or so I thought. I checked the settings after installing different programs that I would use as he said that I need activate Windows. Well, checking settings, he lowered me 10 Windows Home and of course the the product key in the system (if it's still there) that is the error I get is not valid.

Of course, it is not a product key on the bottom of the computer and there is nothing in the box. How can I get my product key back so that I can install Pro back?

Using ProduKey, I get two different keys. One for the new Home edition and the other for the OEM Bios. I guess that I need reintsall (new) and use the key in BIOS Yes?

So guess what? He's back for Pro and it is activated!

I think what happened is that I downloaded the single language version and that's what he screwed up. I just redownloaded windows 10 (first on the menu drop-down) and he installed Pro and activated.

Creating new media doesn't let you choose, he will choose for you based on your product key from the system.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Is it possible to install Windows XP Pro. SP3, with its bootable CD slipstreamed, in an external USB2 media (HARD/flash stick drive)?

    Hello!

Is this possible? I know it is slow due to the speed of USB2, but it is only for rapid tests and do not want to mess with my internal hardware (HARD drive has an old Windows XP Pro. Installation of SP3 with lock hard ups with videos - need to understand if it is my software or hardware) in my current computer. In addition, it doesn't help that I have a disability (cannot yet use a screwdriver).

    Hello

XP was not designed for what you want to do.

XP is designed for use on internal hard drives.

There are various ways that people on the Net have resulted in do.

You would have to use Google for this information.

Yes, the product key works independently of the architecture (32- or 64-bit), so you can use the same product key used to activate 32-bit Windows 8 Pro with 64-bit Windows 8 Pro.

  • Windows 7 Pro black screen with cursor on all modes and no login screen

OK so basically, it's how, my laptop decided to me-screw right when I need to make some adjustments to my final project for next week.

Friday he started very well in class and at the end of the course at 6:30, I stopped him. I normally don't that often stopped because I usually find myself opening upward in an hour later. But I did this time and when I got home and turned on around 9:00, it started like this:

Screen Compaq PhoenixBIOS > Windows boot animation > black screen with cursor mobile, no login screen

No screen connection. No sound. Not nothing but a black screen and the cursor movement. So I force shutdown and turned it back, this time he asked a chkdsk and I ran it. A ton of stuff file unreadable came and it took all night to run through it all. Tried to start again and Windows Error Recovery came and I tried all Modes of security and start normally and all produce the same black screen and the cursor with no login screen.

Then I used my Windows 7 dvd repair to try and system restore to a week before. That's where I noticed that windows had installed a critical update at 12:00 on Friday. Tried to restore before that, but he failed. Gave me an error 0 x 80070057 and said I should run chkdsk /r and then try again. Then I used the cmd prompt through dvd repair and he has seen all these things wrong file again once recovered things then realized hours later. Tried to restore the system again. Still the same error. A run chkdsk again through the cmd prompt, then he went to clean without errors or orphaned files or anything, but it took a lot of time. I used the Startup Repair, and he has not found anything wrong either. But still the same error the system restore.

So I looked around online for the last two days, trying to figure out and that someone said to try CTRL + Alt + Delete, the sticky shift key thing. So I tried to boot the system again, same black screen with cursor movement. I did CTRL + Alt + Delete, nothing. Press and hold the SHIFT key, and a pop-up window asked FilterKeys. Press the SHIFT key 5 times, a popup asked about sticky keys. But that's all I can get it to do. Nothing else. I tried to boot into safe mode with F8, chose, each of them and that changes in screen resolution and the words "safe mode" in all the corners of the screen. If the repair dvd's while I start in safe mode, it will open as well in safe mode, but with the same black background mode. Tried running sfc/scannow through repair invites cmd of the dvd and it says a system repair is pending and he had to restart, and then run the sfc/scannow. Tried, but it doesn't do anything when I restart except go to Windows Error Recovery asking either start in any safe mode or normally. And then it's just black screen again.

So I am at a complete loss what to do now. After all of this mess, it seems that this Windows Update Friday afternoon did something and when I booted it upward once again, his cause nothing but problems. I think it has something to do with the display and the graphics card drivers? It's as if the thing starts but I do not see anything either because the sticky keys appears, but sees nothing else, no matter what I do. Seriously, I don't want to this junk because this is a new hard drive and I was just able to retrieve my files from my old hard drive that had epic failures as well. And I just got this new specifications I wanted as well.

    Laptop Spec:

    Compaq CQ50-115nr
    OS: Windows 7 Professional
HARD drive: Western Digital Scorpio Blue 320 GB SATA WD3200BEVT
    Processor: AMD Turion X 2 RM-70
    Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8200 M G
    Memory: 3 GB RAM

If someone could seriously help me I would be VERY happy.

    Hello

    This isn't good news.

    --------------------

    STOP: 0XC000021A

Can be a difficult problem to solve, and you indeed need a technical help in a real store of the computer
(not the leeks and the glances at a BestBuy or other BigBox stores) or system manufacturer support.

    Cause

This error occurs when a subsystem of mode user, such as WinLogon or the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem (CSRSS), irremediably compromised and security can not be guaranteed. In response, the operating system goes into kernel mode. Microsoft Windows cannot run without WinLogon or CSRSS. Therefore, it is one of the rare cases where the failure of a user mode service can stop the system.

Incompatible system files can also cause this error. This can happen if you restored your hard disk from a backup. Some backup programs may skip restoring system files which they determine are in use.

    Solve the problem

Run the kernel debugger is not useful in this situation because the error occurred in a user mode process.

Resolve an error in the user-mode device driver or system, third-party application service: Because the bug 0xC000021A control occurs in a user mode process, the most common culprits are third-party applications. If the error occurred after the installation of the new or updated device driver or service system, third-party applications, the new software should be removed or disabled. Contact the manufacturer of the software on a possible update.

If the error occurs during the system startup, restart your computer, and then press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system. In the Windows Advanced Options menu that results, select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time. If the error is not resolved, try to manually remove the offending software. If the system partition is formatted with the (FAT) file allocation table, use a MS-DOS boot disk to access the hard disk of the computer. If the system partition is formatted with the NTFS file system, you may be able to use Safe Mode to rename or remove the defective software. If the defective software is used as part of the start-up procedure of the system Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console to access the file. If a room newly installed if material is suspected, remove it to see if that fixes the problem.

Try running the emergency recovery disk (ERD) and allow the system to repair any errors that it detects.

Solve a problem of file system do not match: If you have recently restored your hard disk from a backup, check if there is an updated version of the backup/restore program available from the manufacturer. Make sure that the latest Windows Service Pack is installed.

  • Unable to connect to a remote server with remote desktop, another machine works

Windows XP Professional Remote Desktop connection

    Hello

I recently bought a computer with Windows XP preinstalled Mac Professional and running Office remote version 2.1.0. I can't connect to my work server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. The most frustrating is that I also have an Air of Mac Book that has remote desktop version 2.0.1 which is able to connect. I checked I think all the security and the network settings between machines and am still unable to remedy the situation. Hoping that you may be able to guide me in the right direction.

    Thank you

    Hello lovers of Lorne.

Your question of Windows is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums as it is related to connect to the server with workstation. Appropriate in instances of Windows Server.

Please post your question in the Windows Server forums.
