unrecognized hard drive compaq nc 6320

Have no drive sys restore op original.  Op sys is XP Pro.  Using another Xp Pro CD and enter the recovery console, the disc is visible, chkdsk ok and format ok.

BIOS indicates the hard disk.  When you use the XP Pro cd, when you are prompted to continue and install op sys, received the message, no hard drive installed? no password has been enabled in the bios.

Hard SATA placed in the caddy and possibility to format the hard drive.

Any idea of it please?

You need the storage SATA ahci ich7 driver loaded at the F6 prompt at the beginning of the XP installation. You can do this either by using a usb floppy drive or "slipstreaming" of the driver in the XP install CD using nLite. Post back for further instructions if you need it. I note the driver you need is not on the driver for the nc6320 page, but this one will work... is a floppy, or can be used with nLite:

    Hello
If I replace the hard drive in my tosh bios indicates no hard disk is installed.
The new hard drive is MK2016GAP I tried with and without the master/slave relationship.

    Clues?

    Hello

The MK2016GAP is a 20 GB HARD drive.
I searched the Internet for the Tecra 9100 and discovered that the phone comes with 40 GB or 60 GB HARD drive.
BIOS shouldn't t so no problem with the size of the HARD drive. The size of the HARD drive is certainly supported.

So I think it's a problem of jumper or you did not connect the disk HARD corectly.
I put t know how the jumper was set to your old HDD, but you should check the position of the jumper and put it also on the new HARD drive.

  • Satellite Pro 4320 unrecognized HARD drive

    Hi all

Please bear with me while I explain the disorder, that I am.

I am a newbie in things pc & they gave me the laptop above to play with. He had only a small 6 GB HARD drive, so I bought a 30 GB internal disc used to install.
I have the disc and followed the instructions on the internet on fdisk and formatting.

Put the CD with the XP operating system and put XP on the drive. It worked fine for a few hours until I installed a network thingy usb dongle... then I'm nasty BSOD screens and couldn't go in the disk at all.
The laptop refuses to recognize the drive.

I tried to use an old Win 98 boot floppy in and none of the commands fdisk or format will take place, he said that there is no drive C.
I also tried the XP cd, but will go only where the loading of drivers/utilities, then it stops and says that he does not find the disk, then press F3 to exit.
I updated the BIOS to new supply & even that did not help. I must have done something wrong for lack of experience to get to this stage that the disc was recognized first.

BTW, it will still recognize the old small hdd
Someone at - it suggestions how I could get this disc recognized again?

Thank you for taking the time to read this

    Hello

Have you checked if the 30 GB HARD drive is distinguished by the BIOS?
You need to access the BIOS settings and the full name of the HARD disk and the size must be visible in the BIOS.
If this is not the case of the something might be wrong with the new HARD drive

So please check it first and report the results

  • unrecognized hard drive.

I have a hard drive with windows vista home premium, but it does not start and don't want to be recognized by the pc. what I would do. Sometimes it shows when I use it as a slave, but when I'm looking inside, it desapears from my computer.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of the hard disk and download their program of diagnosis/test for the hard drive.  Run it and check the hard disk.

  • HP d530 - unrecognized HARD drive, "Non system disk or disk error"

    Greetings,

It is a computer from a friend. It seems that he has lost the CD or diskettes shipped with the computer. I see that recognition of HARD drive does not seem to occur in the SETUP (BIOS), so I guess as a floppy disk or a CD some is necessary.

Only startup options that are currently available are:

    CD-ROM

    USB

    Floppy drive

No hard drive recognized. I was able to boot to the CD-ROM drive with a Linux LiveCD, but it also confirmed that no HARD drive is recognized at the time. I guess it is possible that port IDE 1 is dead.

I have tried to reset the CMOS operating in SW50 5 seconds, but that has not helped to recognize the HARD drive.

    The model number is:

    HP d530

    SFF (DC578AV)

    p/n DC578AV

Restore XP on this machine would be the best option, but if I can get the recognized HARD disk and install a version of Linux, it would be OK also.

    Thanks for any help,

    Doug

Assuming that the hard drive is on a different IDE channel as the CD drive, try swapping them.  If the CD is always considered and the hard drive is not, it would make sense that the hard drive is faulty.  If the Linux Live CD can not see the hard drive after the Exchange, a sign that it's done.

  • N200 unrecognized hard drive

    Hello

I had a problem and now the hard drive is not recognized when I insert the XP installation CD. (he appears on the BIOS).

    I found this page: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67897

and I think that's what I need. Only problem is that the driver is looking for a floppy drive and I can't seem to install the USB disk on key.

    It is said:

"Specify f6flpy32.exe with name full path where you extracted the package in step 1 and double-click on".

Arian has an idea of what that means? for example, I have the file on: D:\Documents\Personal\Lenovo and my USB is on f: what is the command that I need to write to install the driver on F:?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Lenovo will disrespect you or you do not understand the steps. The AHCI driver can be called from a floppy drive. Of course your N200 lacks a floppy drive, as well as Lenovo says here... .and I quote...

    Installation Instructions

     1. On another system, extract this package onto the hard drive.

     2. Connect a USB-Floppy Disk drive.

     3. Specify f6flpy32.exe with the full path name where you extracted

the package in the step 1, and double-click.

You will need to either buy a USB floppy drive, buy a portable internal floppy drive or use one of the other two methods that I posted above to integrate the driver.

And if you plan to do this, I suggest that you download the latest F6 floppy driver from intel. Located here for 32-bit and 64-bithere.

You must be sure to hit F6 when asked and specify ICH8M when you are asked to specify the AHCI controller.

I use desktop core 2 duo Hp Compaq DC7800 with 2 GB of ram.
Now, I intend to improve 320 GB to 1 TB of hard drive (Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200 RPM ST1000DM003 / MIN 64 MB Cache SATA 6.0 GB/s 3.5).
-It would run smoothly on the system?
-Is a good choice or 512?
-This particular model of hard drive of another company?

    Hello:

It is not the size of the hard drive.  In this model, you can go up to 2 TB.

It is the speed of the drive that may conflict with the dc7800.

Disks SATA 6.0 GB/s can have the problem that is described in the above-mentioned document, which mine had.

If you don't want to take the risk of what happens, you have to get a SATA II (3.0 Gbps) drive, and they can be hard to find these days.

  • Compaq 8510w: replacement HARD drive models?

    Hello

I have a laptop Compaq 8510w (KE186EA; s/n CNU812285Y) with 200 MB of HARD drive installed. It is a Seagate ST9200420AS ('Momentus' family).

Yesterday, the CHKDSK utility found some bad sectors, so I want to replace the HARD drive. This Seagate model is no longer sold. What other HARD drive models are fully compatible with my laptop? My laptop has the peculiarity of "HP Drive Guard" who takes care of my HARD drive in the case of a shock, I wonder if this feature requires a 'special' model of the disk HARD must be installed.

I searched the web site of Seagate and other Momentus drives are listed there, but I'm not sure that they will fit my laptop; for example, none of them does support "shock protection" (or this function Seagate has nothing in common with HP Drive guard?).

UPD: and I also wonder if I can use an SSD, and if yes - what settings should it?

-Generally shorter readers won't be a problem, since readers usually rise in a way where the screws and SATA connectors are located at the same locations despite the height of the car. Just be careful not to exceed the height of the OEM disk (i.e. some of the 1 TB + drives that were 12 mm of height not suitable)

-SATA type is not important. SATA 3 Gb/s, SATA 6 Gbps or fastest readers will work fine, because their speed will be anyway limited by what the storage controller hardware supports.

D ' a generally, capacity have no impact on the production of heat. The 8510w, as a workstation type system, is designed to use the commands of higher performance. Newer players tend to be more thrifty in energy which means less heat. You should have no problem of compatibility based on the ability for any player < 2 TB.

Personally, I think that the benefits of the hybrid hard disks are largely overrated. If you want real performance boost, GB SSD - well worth the money, the performance difference is day and night from a physical disk more you don't have to worry about damage to the drive drops or movement.

  • PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT: Replacement of the SSD HARD drive and Recovery Options

I have a PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT I went recently to drive HARD original for one SSD of 850 Evo from Samsung using Samsungs cloning/copying software. Everything went well and the PC is in use today. I do not see the partition D: Recovery on this machine more well, so I think this has not copied or was lost. I still have the disk that was replaced.

I was wondering if there is a way to replace HARD drive like this with an SSD and everything by keeping the system recovery feature that was on the HARD disk, and if a set of system recovery disks of before installing SSD would continue to operate, or if I need to create new ones, and if I CAN create new ones.

    rgoodrich

I did what you want to do (for example, to replace a disk with a DDI) and was able to retain the function of HP recovery - but it's because of two important facts.

First of all, I used a DDI with the same capacity as the original HARD disk.  This is important because if you use a smaller SDS, the HP recovery feature will no more work as a reset begins with reformatting the drive and recreate the original scores - which will fail if the disc is too small.

Second, I use Macrium Reflect product to 'clone' the HDD to the DDI, which means, he made an exact copy of the partitions on disk on the SDS.  So, when I swapped drives, the PC restarted without any problem.

People have posted here on the use of the software from Samsung, and they seem to have problems restarting after use and (apparently) with successful copy from disk HARD original in the new SDS.

  • Presario CQ5110F: COMPAQ Presario CQ5110F adding a second hard drive and...

I had little time today messing with both ' puters and discovered...
They need a good cleaning and had.
The noise of the Presario is indeed the fan on the radiator, it's just old and tired. Who cannot be strong in a music room; new fan may not be too expensive.
So I decided the Presario is my starting point.

I would add the hard drive of the Slimline as slave; they have different connectors tho.

    (1) if I just unplug the V2000 CD reader (that has the straight plugs) and use them to connect the second hard drive will I just lost my CD player? It is very good.
    (2) what parameters of rider (if any) do I need to have on each disc? Do not see outside the car Slimlines.

I looked closer 2 slots for RAM and noticed that beside them there seems to be 2 places in addition to the Board of Directors, unused with no present holders plastic.

    (3) is it possible to add more slots and double the RAM? I would get 8 + GB and a 64-bit system end by ;~)

Neither office seems to have the ability to run 2 monitors as is. No problem 29 "should do for now.
Can't see a way to take the card out of the Slimline wireless and put it in the Presario. Internet not immediately necessary, hard connection cable always an option.

All the other tips and advice on how to optimize my sytem are also welcome.
Thank you for your time and helping an old guy handyman.

The image below is a diagram for your motherboard. You have enough SATA ports to be used for the second and even a third hard drive.

DDR2 memory modules can be a little difficult to source. The current generation of add-on memory is the DDR3 specification.

    Hello Fiona-s,

Thanks for posting in the Forum of Support HP!

I'm afraid that the HARD drive has failed - the question is material one and all simply restore/reinstall will not solve it. Yes, you need to replace the HARD disk new or better with the SSD. SSDS are up to 10 times faster than hard drives:

There are more than 100 manufacturers and sellers SSD, but personally, I would choose Samsung, Intel, Toshiba, or OCZ ones.

Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 have supported for SSDS. Vista and XP - no

You will need a recovery media to restore the windows once you have installed the new SSD or HARD disk.

You can get possible by contacting HP Support. Here's how:

    {Problem solved]

Even if I wish to withdraw my original question that I started too early, I think that my answer may still be useful to someone who needs to know where the HD is mounted despite its obvious location.  The HD is locked in a metal cage mounted vertically behind the bottom of the front cover of the computer.   You can not miss.

I had not actually removed the HD but the mysterious presence of an HD 20 GB lying around the computer made me think that she belonged to the machine. I should have better because the 5000US came with a 30 GB hard drive.
